What is Champions about?

heyo! Thanks for the ask! Champions is a story I started in high school back when I still had steam for original stories, but like with Legacy, I’m trying to get reboot it at some point (so everything here on is liable to change).

tldr; three champions of the demon king protect a city in California

The story was set in the fictional city of Sanctuary, California, which acted as something of a hellgate, for lack of better words. It was where the veil between Elysium - which is where all things creepy and crawly originated from. There was Alistair, the Demon King, who realizes leaving this thing unchecked would be bad for business, and so to keep things balanced, Sanctuary is overseen, in a kinda open secret/urban legend kinda way to the humans living there, by six lords from Elysium (two vampires, three demons, and a shapeshifter, all of whom have their own reasons for agreeing to preside over the human side of the Gate) and the Demon King’s Champions.

The story focuses on the Three Champions. The first is Marcus Chase, The Shade. An immortal, he is the original Champion of Sanctuary (along with his late brother Michael) and has the power of shadow manipulation, as well as moving as darkness (if that makes sense?). He’s been around since Sanctuary’s beginning, and will be there until it or he dies.

The second Champion is Mars Salazar, Lobo, the Wolf Prince of Sanctuary. His father was the original second Champion, but died when Mars was still young. He was raised by his mother and uncle Marcus, and trained to take his father’s place, which he did at the age of fifteen. Before that, when he was in his early teens, Mars was found out by a Howler - a type of werewolf - that had it out for Marcus and was bitten.

And finally we have the Third and Final Jordan Hawthorne (last name to change as of reboot), The Calavera Kid. Jordan is the POV character, the youngest at about 17, and the newest Champion. Unlike the other characters, she doesn’t actually live in Sanctuary, but a small town in Oklahoma and uses a mirror portal to get to Sanctuary when she needs to. Part of the story is her balancing her civilian life and Champion life, and despite being Chosen a couple years ago, figuring out just why she was chosen.

Other important characters include Aegelmaere Jones, the Magician, who isn’t a Champion, but might as well be, and Cassa, the Demon Knight, who is sent by Alistair to help the Champions investigate and put a stop to who/whatever is killing Demons in the city.

Gel is Marcus’ oldest friend, and often supplies the Champions with their gadgets and goods, and will usually help out with behind the scenes research when needed. It takes a lot to get him out on patrol, but when he is everyone knows it’s serious business. Cassa has a complicated history with Marcus and Mars, who are Not Happy she’s around and don’t like to leave her alone with Jordan, which is something that is explored.
