so aemond’s toast and his scuffle with aegon tell me one thing: aegon has upgraded to having aemond’s back in a street fight but will still spit and bite aemond at home (aemond’s been asking alicent to put him in a leash for years)

Alice Glass (2017) PREY // IV (2022), Alice Glass
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At some point, post her exodus of Crystal Castles, Alice Glass started to sound quite a lot like Grimes. Not that such a thing was awful – it was simply less distinct, seeing Glass follow rather than lead. As of 2023, she’s still sort of in that lane, last year’s PREY only confirming a newer, less adventurous sort of artist.
Pick(s): ‘Without Love’, ‘PREY’

one very small gripe i have with the sound design in tmagp rn is that it seems like some stuff isn't timed well with sound effects and how they'd interact with dialogue. like i'm listening to just the teddy and alice pub scene in ep 9 and there is No pause between them clinking their glasses and teddy takin a fat sip it's like "clinkslurrrrrp" like girl were you pre-attached to the glass. and then you hear them sip but you don't hear them swallow. and then you hear alice sip and then immediately do a lil chuckle and start speaking like Girl Swallow First. why are they just letting their drinks slide down their throats that's probably not healthy.

Ateez's Full Storyline Explained - Part 19
Masterlist
미친 폼 (Crazy Form) (Z-World)
Before we begin, I'd like to say that I'm writing under the assumption that Ateez are taking a backseat this comeback while the Black Pirates are leading the fight in the streets. This is based on the group's comments prior to the album's release, as well as last album's diary entries which left Ateez in a precarious situation that doesn't align with the happenings in this MV.
We open at night time on a shot of the Black Pirates (in marching-band-esque outfits reminiscent of Wonderland) and their fellow Revolutionists crouching in line in front of a structure which looks like two roofs lined up side by side where the dip between the two cradles the city skyline illuminated by a crescent moon (reminder that the nature of the Cromer‘s powers are affected by the moon cycles).
Keep in mind that Crescent Part 2 can be found on this album while the first part can be found on TREASURE EP.3 : One To All which includes 'Illusion' and 'Wave' - two songs heavily leaning into the concept of dreams and traveling into them by utilizing the Cromer‘s powers. This also aligns with the Alice in Wonderland themed promotions.
Regarding the latter: throughout the MV, you will see colors blur and get splotchy every now and again, indicating this is likely to be a dream transmitted to the citizens to fire them up for the upcoming main event of the revolution. This would also further support my assumption that we only get to see the Black Pirates here as they're the ones visiting others' dreams, not Ateez who seem to be unable to control this power fully and usually just end up in a shared dream among themselves.
Tumblr media
Back to the MV: the captain begins to strut down the center aisle between the crouched rows like the runway model he is as he's instructing them to 'Get up'.
Once he's reached the front, everyone breaks formation and jumps right into the performance. The lyrics here already inform us of their intent - follow along, join us, put yourself first and stick it to the authorities.
Side-note: it was bugging me that I couldn't figure out what 9024 could mean so I dug a little and found an explanation by Reddit user " rowtyde37" who explains: "It's actually 90-2-4. So, it is the drums but they are telling you out the gate it's 90 beats per min, 2 quarter (4) notes (beats) each bar. Just a heads up on the drums coming to invade your space."
Tumblr media
We cut to Yunho in comfy clothes and a headband back in the bunker who's sitting at a large table covered in blueprints as he activates a palm-sized Iron Man arc reactor looking thing that turns out to be a hologram projector.
Blue tinted holograms of the pirate ship's main mast, buildings, and pieces of teach are floating around him as he flips through them.
Tumblr media
Throughout this scene, we regularly cut to Yunho dancing with four fellow revolutionists in a round underground space lined with doors (because he's the main dancer and he deserves this).
Tumblr media
We cut to Mingi in a fully black getup with hat inside what looks to be a surveillance room situated in one of the rooftop-like buildings we saw at the start of the video.
Tumblr media
His performance there is interspliced with clips of him outside in a suit as he's getting into a car and speeding through the city full of neon signs.
This maniac races into a black alley where he crashes his car straight through the wall of a small unassuming building which turns out to be a casino.
Tumblr media
His idgaf attitude takes him straight to the bar where he pours himself a cocktail glass of milk which the bartender doesn't seem to mind.
Once his glass has been emptied, he opens the small metal suitcase near his elbow which contains another of the hologram projectors. I've rewatched the scene frame-by-frame and it seems the case was already there when he arrived so I'll assume the bartender is providing it to aid in the revolution.
Tumblr media
This belief is reinforced when we get a shot of Mingi's empty glass filled with a stack of olives impaled by a black cocktail flag sporting the red encircled A representing both Ateez and Anarchy throughout this era.
Tumblr media
Moving on to Wooyoung who's joining Yunho in the bunker, though in his own corner where he's surrounded by pieces of tech and holograms. He's wearing an oversized plaid shirt, glasses so large they're reminiscent of safety goggles, and black and silver gloves.
And honestly, I don't know how tech-savvy this little gremlin actually is since he's currently hammering a long-ass nail into the metal hull of some piece of equipment prior to chucking said hammer across the room with what seems to be a pout.
Tumblr media
Said hammer shoots by behind Yunho, who's sitting several feet away, before it slams into something off screen and sets off a shower of sparks.
Yunho gapes at him for a sec before he throws up his arms ("The fuck, man?"), to which Wooyoung looks unfazed and points at him ("You asked me to toss it over, why're you mad?") followed by a half eyeroll and look away ("You're overreacting.").
Tumblr media
Just then, a warning pops up on Yunho's holo-screen which causes Wooyoung to jog over as well.
Tumblr media
We cut to a poker table where a game is in full swing and one of the player's is Jongho dressed up in a simple black suit. We're inside the casino Mingi literally drove into earlier.
The other two players seems to be some high-ranking officials in the military or police force, at least that's what I generally assume every time I see older men in uniform in anything. (In the Making Film, they simply call them "high officials from the Z-World")
Tumblr media
Jongho proceeds to hold up the ace of Anarchy which causes one of the uniformed men to pull a gun on him under the table - an action both Jongho and Mingi are clearly aware of since Mingi steps up beside Jongho right away.
Tumblr media
Without missing a beat, Jongho snatches up the gun hidden in the waistband of Mingi's pants and points it straight at his opponents. He doesn't hesitate to pull the trigger.
Tumblr media
Cut to Seonghwa set up right outside the heavily fenced off 'Area 08'. He's performing on a makeshift stage right by the gate, surrounded by warning signs telling people to stay away. The building behind the fence is covered in banners sporting the Black Pirates' Z-logo we've last scene in 'Bouncy'.
His audience is made up of fellow revolutionists donning all black robes while he himself is dressed in a flowy white shirt, silver jewelry and a black corset with matching pants. It's clear who's not afraid to be recognized by anyone who could be spying.
Tumblr media
The next scene reveals that San and Yeosang are also joining him for this performance, though the scene is interspliced with fleeting clips of all of a larger number of Black Pirates performing together in a back alley lined with shuttered store fronts and neon signs.
It seems to be San, Yeosang, Hongjoong, Wooyoung and Seonghwa who we'll see again a coupla scenes later in the same room Yunho danced in earlier.
Cut to Yeosang and Hongjoong in yet another alley during daylight hours. They brought spraypaints and a skateboard.
It's quickly made evident why they chose to go out during the day for once - they plan to appear on the news.
As Hongjoong reaches the line "Crazy boys are getting crazier", the video takes on a familiar news channel framing. The classic globe logo in the bottom left corner runs through several random letter combinations (the channel has no clear name) until it transforms into the two words "Breaking News".
Tumblr media
A recorded feed from the casino's surveillance camera pops up in the top left corner - the scene with Jongho and Mingi played out just last night.
Simultaneously, the news ticker at the bottom of the screen informs us that "The Black Pirates break into the Lounge".
Shout out to Hongjoong's black fingernail. (Join the Polished Man Campaign here)
Tumblr media
After all the ruckus Hongjoong has already caused, he somehow manages to twirl in a circle as he shoots bullets from his finger gun into the air.
The power of his imagination is truly something to behold. However, it's far more likely that this is just another indicator that we're not in a regular world but rather a dream transmitted to the locals to fire them up for the upcoming revolution.
Tumblr media
Either way, Hongjoong's goofy bout of wackiness alerts the authorities who begin to chase him down the alley which only seems to get him more motivated to dive deeper into a pool of mischief.
He hops onto a car surrounded by armed cops and begins to wiggle his hips to provoke them further. What a legend.
Tumblr media
Cut to him spray painting a white line across a wall covered in their own revolution flyers before passing Yeosang who ends up with a white streak straight across his black jacket.
He throws up his hands as he looks after his captain ("Why would you-?")
Tumblr media
While once again fleeing from the authorities, Hongjoong nearly collides with a black car which sped up to him. The scene transforms into a comic book panel (this is not the real world).
Tumblr media
He rolls across the hood and lands on the other side, only to lean over the hood with a smirk. Another comic panel forms.
Cut to a maniacally laughing Seonghwa getting dragged along by his own audience.
Tumblr media
This is closely followed by San showing us his signature peace/middle finger - the return of these gloves is unexpected but welcome, especially in such a idgaf, I'll do what I want MV.
Tumblr media
Between group performance clips, we return to Wooyoung in the bunker where he's looking at a hologram of their pirate ship which we'll see again shortly. It has been missed.
Tumblr media
We also get to see Yeosang spraypaint "Be Free" onto a shutter door (which joins a marker written 'We Know', referencing the first track on the album).
A scene later, we see the full picture - three shutters, all covered in their signature Z and those two red words: Be Free. The message that connects all versions of Ateez across the multitude of realities.
Tumblr media
We return to Jongho in the casino who just fired off three rounds in quick succession while Mingi stands by to watch their maknae go rogue. He must be proud.
Tumblr media
One of the bullets swishes past a sprinkler, setting it off, while another pieces the wall and destroys the TV in the neighboring room just as an Android Guardian was seen on screen. It's very symbolic.
Our Haribo walks off with a satisfied lil smirk as the sprinklers gently drizzle him.
Tumblr media
Between further performance clips, we return to Hongjoong who's being pushed onto the hood of a car by the cops who'd been hounding him.
He manages to free an arm and affixes a gadget that looks like another holo-projector onto the side of the vehicle which proceeds to eject a beam of light.
Tumblr media
The activation signals Wooyoung in the bunker who looks up through a hologram circle. A pulse of light washes across the entire city, dousing it in darkness as a familiar pirate ship appears in the sky like a literal glowing ghost ship; it’s the hologram Wooyoung and Yunho had been working on this entire time.
Tumblr media
The moon now appears full as the Black Pirates laugh and celebrate, smirking up to the sky, performing across locations, drinking in the casino/bar which leads me to reasonably believe they really did complete the mission between the two moon cycles but the way they went about it was different from the wackiness that took place in the dream world.
We end with them back at the double-roof structure before the screen cuts to black.
A beat later, a shattered glowing Cromer appears on screen.
Tumblr media
From it rises a bluebird, the one we've last seen in Halazia. It's holding a red pulsating object in its beak as it rises up to the night sky where a red full moon has risen.
Maybe next album, we'll see the Halazia version of Ateez again. Who knows.

A messy collection of my thoughts and theories for episodes one and two of 'a murder at the end of the world' :
• starting off with The Doors, already a yes from me
• this is my, hmm, sixth rewatch of both episodes? maybe more? Anyway, darby is warm colors, bill is cool. love this detail.
• The Silver Doe, silver earrings. I'm convinced Darby's earring means something. I've seen others speculate that it's reference to a hourglass. it's also similar to the logo of Andy's company.
• We meet Bill in the motel room and that is when I immediately knew I was a goner for this story. sue me, Harris Dickinson is handsome. I also love his terrible haircut
• Harris and Emma's chemistry is INSANE
• "Lee. She doesn't need my help." Oh, but maybe she does Darby. I don't trust Lee's husband in any way, shape or form
• When Darby stumbles down the (poorly made) stairs and bill asks her if she's alright? listen, i love them a whole lot. even if it's common decency to ask
• creepy fucking basement.
• bill protecting darby. BILL PROTECTING DARBY!!!
• was bill shot? did the person shoot themselves?
• I feel like importance of tattoos and meaning might come into play (darby looking at crime scene photos but also bill's and darby's)
• also during the scene where darby is being messaged by Andy's assistant, someone on reddit theorized that the letters on darbys open tabs are a code. Maybe?
• The health check before boarding the plane is raising red flags for me. Mainly the cheek swab. I dunno
• Alice Braga! You gorgeous human
• Martin reading Darby's book right in front of her is a little bit strange for a multitude of reasons but I'm definitely reading too much into most of my thoughts about it
• Darby's attention to detail is so good and such a wonderful element, considering the storyline
• Grimes.
• The closeup on Martin's nightmare on the plane. Obviously a deliberate camera choice. But whyyyy
• Flashback to Bill in the bath. I assume it's after they were confronted with the gun. Bloody rags and dirty water, Bill seems physically okay. previous point, was he shot?
• "I think this is both too much and not enough."
• Camera/Darby lingers on fisherman.
• Ray makes me nervous
• Oxygen tank to Lee's room. Strange. Food to Lee's room that Zoomer accepts, strange. Lee cleaning up the broken glass and making eye contact with Darby. very strange.
• The deep fake talk with Oliver about how you can make anyone say anything will definitely come back later. isn't audio recorded in every room or did I misunderstood that in ep 2?
• Lee and Andy are not selling me on a happy marriage. Back to maybe Lee does need Darby's help.
• Bill appearing at dinner. Was he late or early? the way bill and darby look at one another make me melt
• Also, as Bill sits down, Sian says 'definitely not him' meaning Andy didn't invite him, Lee did. And we later learn that Lee and Bill knew eachother. (how tf did darby not know that if she is such a fan of Lee. WHAT DOES IT ALL MEANNN)
• The lighting plays a huge roll. The halos above Darby and Bill at dinner
• I too would choke after seeing bill again for the first time in six years
• Lee's toast, 'to finding a way out.' And then Andy saying, 'together.' ???
• Zoomer. Robot child? Bill's kid? strange little dude nonetheless. (Zoomer doesn't/can't eat. Lee and Andy looking at one another while Zoomer and Bill play. darbys smile as she watches them. then the face bill makes after zoomer is called to sit down. and the way he responds to question of how old he is???)
• The pool scene. These people are so cliquey. yuck
• Darby punching bill and then immediately asking him for a drink. I get it. Also the way he looked at her after she punched him. Lovesick.
• Bill telling her how he loved her book, oh my God. "Really tough and fragile at the same time" fucking incredible line.
• Bill and Darby flirting
• "I need to tell you something." Insert Jennifer Lawrence clip, WHAT DO YOU MEAN?!
• Darby runs into Marius, the hotel manager when she goes to Bill's room. Suspect but maybe too obvious?
• Bill asking her to stay as he dies. Holding hands through the glass. Him smiling at her. It's all too much for me.
• So much blood for someone overdosing? Head wound.
Episode 2:
• Darby's book in Bill's room covered in blood. Is that Bill's copy or Martin's from the plane?
• Everyone is very insistent on getting Darby out of Bill's room.
• The tea going to Bill's room. More broken glass
• Lee comforting Darby is very nice
• Rohan (fisherman) is the only one visibly upset and reacting like a human being told about a death
• Andy and Sian are acting like Darby is overreacting about his cause of death
• Andy saying that bill wouldn't want them to go home and quit. Dude, you didn't know him. Kick rocks.
•  Again, Andy and Lee are giving me bad vibes. Lee fawns around him, he speaks over her/for her
• Lu Mei seems uncomfortable when she says she'll stay, seemingly intimated by Andy or fearful of his reaction if she did say she wanted to leave. Therefore I don't think anyone is comfortable going against him. Power imbalance. Darby seems to pick up on this
• Darby going to see Bill. Her frantically asking Ray questions with obvious answers but she craves the validation that she isn't wrong about what she suspects....I'm so sad
• Bill's tattoos are so interesting and I crave meaning
• "Someone killed you."
• My knowledge of injectable drugs all comes from 90s rock musicians, so take that as you will. The needle in Bill's room is the strangest thing I've ever seen. It looks like a diabetic tester needle. And no fingerprints.
• Lee also going to Bill's room. The plot thickens (I need to re-create her outfit in this episode it's so good)
• Is Lee telling the truth about what she was actually looking for? Also her giving Darby advice. I very much like them teaming up together
• "Don't get caught."
• Is it possible that Andy/the hotel is fielding the internet? like when darby can't look up a hack for the doorbell cam. is this an ignorant question? Perhaps.
• Darby and Bill flashback! when bill offers to come pick darby up and she immediately freaks out and runs away from the conversation...I have never felt more seen or understood. me too, girl, me too.
• Do Lee and Bill having matching line tattoos on their forearms???
• Happy birthday Darby 🥺🥺🥺
• 04/14/2017 Zoomer's birthday.
• Darby has doorbell cam footage. employees have towels. noted. David on a phonecall.  Bill 🥲 (not wearing his ring) Ziba hears something, looks frightened and leaves. Bill's door opens from in the inside, hallway wall is illuminated.
• Bill's smile when he meets Darby in person for the first time. I LOVE THEM!
• Creepy mask person, go away!
• the diner darby and bill meet at is called Ray's
• I believe in love at first sight because of them.
• Frank Ocean. That's all.

HOTD S2 Teaser Trailer Thoughts
🚨 Spoilers for the teaser trailer if you haven’t already seen it 🚨
The first shot of Rhaenyra grieving for Luke near the ocean was…heartbreaking. She’s looking at the waves that swallowed her boy.
I assume Otto’s voiceover was him discussing what happened to Luke, rip.
Aegon walking into the throne room wearing Sunfyre embroidery? We love to see it. Tom is going to serve so hard this season.
The Hightower banners ahhhhh !
Alicent, the absolute love of my life is looking… grim as hell 😭.
Criston, what have they done to your hair? I actually didn’t recognise it was him until I re-watched the trailer, like that’s how FOUL it first looked. He’s definitely serving in the military but he’s not serving looks.
Aegon on the Iron Throne was so strange after only seeing Viserys on it for an entire season.
Rhaenyra with the dragon embroidery on her shoulders; Emma looks amazing omg.
I’m preeeeeety sure Alicent is in the Sept when she blows out the candle. I think you can see all the wax on the stone slab in the bottom right corner.
I’ll be very interested what aspect of the Seven she’ll be praying to. And this time, of course, she’ll be praying without a certain platinum blonde.
I’m also pretty sure that’s Seasmoke as well! Yes, my boi has returned!
Aemond (apparently) approaching the throne, I wonder if this is after Storms End; you can see it’s raining and thundering in the glass panes.
Alicent is by the LAKE?! Olivia must have been hooting and hollering that she’s finally left Watford. It’s actually really strange seeing her in a new location, like it feels so unreal after seeing Alicent in the Red Keep for an entire season.
Seasmoke again, my boi is on the beach. I hope we can finally get some close ups on the goofy boy because I cannot keep surviving off grainy images.
Dragonpit shot nice nice.
Helaena during the funeral not nice not nice. That shot is so beautiful though. Phia you are spectacular.
That old man touching Alicent WILL be appropriately dragged to filth by me when that ep airs.
Blood and Cheese I wish you both a very pleasant DIE.
VHAGAR is back bitches!!!
-
Overall, I’m very excited. My expectations for what they’ll do to TG is not optimistic at ALL, but at least everyone will look very hot.

On Alicent and religion
So, I came across this Midnight Mass gifset and these two quotes:
He doesn't understand yet that guilt comes to you not from the things you've done, but from the things that others have done to you. -Margaret Atwood, Alias Grace
I would like to be found. I would like to see. Or to be seen. I wonder if, in the eye of God, it amounts to the same thing. As it says in the Bible, For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face. If it is face to face, there must be two looking. -Margaret Atwood, Alias Grace
And since then, I’ve been mulling over Alicent’s relationship with religion for the past few days because if there’s one thing that irks my soul, is when (western) writers write religious women as tradcath bitchy hypocrites (as opposed to religious men who use their religion as some sort of selfless sacrifice), especially when said woman is a victim of abuse.
Instead of exploring Alicent’s religiousness as a way to cope with the abuse she endures, as part of her socialization and the community and culture she comes from, as a way to validate her innate kindness in a world where she’s surrounded by Machiavellians and careless people who can get away with things she cannot, the show manages to victim blame her by the way they frame her religiousness. That it’s another chain in this patriarchy without ever engaging with the actual patriarchs who actively abuse her on-screen.
Something else that I want to highlight is that these systems that Alicent faces are faceless and abstract which makes the grief and anger and helplessness nearly impossible to work through. As a result, she ends up internalizing these roles - daughter, wife, mother - and when they contradict each other, or when external forces push and pull her, she ends up blaming and sacrificing herself. (As opposed to a man in Westeros like Aegon - her mirror - who can whore and drink and fight with little consequence, he may even be praised.)
One day I’m gonna sit down and actually take my time to write these thoughts down, but here are some quick notes that I’m trying to sort through. (Note that it’s difficult for me to reconcile some of these with the Alicent(s) we see onscreen. Cooke is one of the best actors on the show but the writing for her has not been my favorite. I feel like Carey’s Alicent was more cohesive and consistent, so some these points apply more to ep 1-5 Alicent than later on.):
1. The first instance we see of her religiousness comes from a place of love. She visits the sept to feel closer to her mother and shares this with Rhaenyra to help her grieve. She uses her religion to comfort herself and connect with loved ones - living and dead. (Aegon does the same when he hides in the sept under the mother. Did he learn this from her? Did he learn this while studying the Faith of the Seven?)
2. If this greater being meant to comfort her and guide her tells her through its teachings that the very behavior she’s punished for is actually holy and human (that’s it’s right), does it help Alicent feel less alone? And if she has someone to share this belief with, like Criston?
3. Does she channel the gods when she needs to compromise with who she is and who she needs to be? For example, Alicent was compassionate and loyal to Rhaneyra when defending her claim early on. After Rhaenyra’s betrayal, fearing for her children and honestly, it’s okay if she was offended and felt played by Rhaenyra, when she shows up to the wedding dressed in green, as a Hightower (no longer a dutiful wife), did she draw strength from the mother and father to seek justice for her and her children and to protect her family?
This third point is so interesting to me because that’s what many real people do in real life everyday. We have to find ways to cope with life and learn how to understand ourselves, our wants, and how we can make them fit in this world. Obviously you don’t need religion to do this, but many do and in my community, religion is what keeps us grounded yet hopeful. Big City Greens s4 ranking (so far...)
Overall, with its first 10 episode segments now aired, I'd say BCG s4 is off to a pretty solid start! A couple meh episodes here and there, but also some really GREAT episodes too! Going through them all:
Handshaken: Without a doubt my favorite BCG ep of this season so far. If you know me, you know how much I absolutely LOVE Bill, so it was great seeing him get to be a bit of a handshake badass in addition to his usual humble and sweet self ^v^ Seeing him teach Cricket a lesson was great, and the ep itself just had a ton of funny jokes and some great boarding. Remy trying to be 'country' was also cute and endearing.
Jingled: Honestly, it was a toss-up between this and Truck Stopped (it truly was an incredibly strong season premiere). Ultimately though I rank Jingled just a teeeeeenny bit higher since I really loved Tilly's jingles. As a creative myself, I definitely related to her whole arc. I also loved Cricket keeping an eye on his sis and encouraging her to take care of herself, even while taking advantage of a big company, haha. The stuff with Bill and Alice at the veggie stand was also really cute.
Truck Stopped: Another ep that's relatable, funny and has a great lesson. Truck stops and gas stations are a really fun setting, and for as much as they were bickering in this ep, it was also a great showcase for why these two make for such a great sibling team.
Chipped Off: This episode manages to be both hilarious and fascinating when it comes to showing what Chip has been up to since his defeat and exploring his mental state and the core flaws of who he is that led him to this point. Several jokes from this ep truly got me, and that whole scene with ‘Norm’ and the Mirror Chip was just SO well boarded and great to watch. Truly fantastic ep and a great way to reintroduce Chip (although I’ve gotta say, for as much as I usually like characters with glasses, Norm!Chip looks fucking cursed)
Stand-Up Bill: A very silly ep but also one I enjoyed, even if it was very much a farce. To probably no one's surprise, I enjoyed Bill's arc a lot, and seeing him form a genuine connection with Fred was super sweet. The stuff with Tilly and Cricket with the roast comedian was pretty fun too, and while their revenge on her was maaaaybe just a bit uncalled for (given that Cricket literally asked to be roasted) at least they didn't humiliate her in front of a whole crowd or anything like that. Just a bit of harmless slapstick.
Iced: I’m really glad this ep wasn’t JUST Alice and Nick fighting. Like Alice says, the whole Green family is kiiiinda a mess, so Nick truly does fit in in that sense. All the little subplots are both entertaining enough and are just the right amount of silly. These eps where each Green has their own little subplot are always pretty fun. Sorta standard ep, but enjoyable enough!
Coffee Mates: Pretty good ep! It was simple and perhaps a bit on the predictable side, but Cricket was in great showing here, being not only funny but also showing his responsible side as well as encouraging Gloria to be better and find her work/life balance. You feel a bit bad for all he goes through, but there's a light enough tone to it that it never feels like the kid's being tortured, and his strike afterwards was pretty funny. The ep also has a good moral, and it was nice to see everything work out.
Junk Junkie: Ehhhhh... A couple bits were funny, and I can certainly understand WHY Bill went to such extremes (I'm pretty sure the man has some sort of financial PTSD considering how many times he's nearly lost his home/gone bankrupt) the execution of the plot itself was pretty standard and didn't do much to really grab me. Not bad by any means, just okay.
Bad Dad: As the official re-introduction to Nancy's dad, I thought it was just okay. As I said in the post I made following the ep's premiere, I am glad that they redeemed Nick somewhat by making him respectful of Nancy's rules and having him actually work in exchange for living there. I also appreciated the ep for not totally villainizing Nancy's refusal to forgive her dad and not trying to force a 'fixed' bond between them - they make it clear that she's only tolerating him for the sake of her kids, but at the same time she isn't going to excuse or overlook any shenanigans either. It's not perfect by any means - I certain understand those who feel Nick still got off too easily or who see him as too bad of an influence to be kept around - but considering the type of ep it is, it could have been a LOT worse.
Green Trial: Okay so... Personal bias on the table, I can't watch this ep without thinking of the Ghost and Molly McGee ep "Innocent Until Proven Ghostly". They're just too similar (Sunnyland Productions actually did a good comparison vid about it) and TGAMM definitely had funnier jokes and a much more interesting presentation with the whole crime documentary format imo. But even without the comparison, I just felt like this ep was pretty meh in general, not being all that funny save for maybe one or two lines and just being very predictable. It just sorta seemed like an excuse plot to lead into Nick's reintroduction. Also, while I get why they'd be so sensitive (Nancy cause the cake meant a lot to her personally and Bill because, well, he just loves sweets), I felt like Nancy and Bill were just a bit too mean in this ep. Overall, this ep just wasn't very fun, and that's the most important thing I look for in BCG
So yeah, as I said, a good overall start! ^v^ My only real critique is that a couple eps could've been a bit funnier or more interesting and that we need more Remy and Vasquez (hopefully we get a couple eps focused on them later in the season). Other than that, I'm pretty satisfied and looking forward to more!

Fugazi, Rote Fabrik, Zürich, Switzerland 6/18/1992 (FLS #0470)
Out of the five times Fugazi played in the city of Zürich, Switzerland (1988, 1990, 1992, 1995 and 1999), the venue of choice turned out to be the Rote Fabrik no less than four times, and for good reason, or so it seems:
“The Rote Fabrik, which enjoys a beautiful location overlooking Lake Zurich, is the alternative counterpart to the classic cultural institutions in the city center.
The well-known cultural center unites concerts, art interventions, movie screenings, and theater performances on social and cultural themes under one roof.
Also located on the Rote Fabrik site are the Shedhalle, an institution for contemporary and critical art, and the restaurant, Ziegel oh Lac.
(...)
The Rote Fabrik was a silk-weaving mill until 1940. After it was shut down, many of the rooms stood empty or were used for storage. In the 1970s and 80s, the Zurich youth movement protested against this. They wanted their own, independent cultural center and thought that the factory site would be the ideal place for this.
However, initially the youth movement was not taken very seriously. Only after numerous demonstrations and even riots was the factory site rented out to the ‘Interessengemeinschaft Rote Fabrik’ on a trial basis (incidentally, this interest group still exists today). Soon bands such as Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bad Religion, and Manu Chao were playing legendary concerts here, long before they became known in Europe. Günter Grass and Alice Schwarzer held readings in the club room, while performances and discussion evenings with an interested young public took place in the factory theater.
The temporary arrangement finally became a permanent enterprise in 1987, and the concept of the Rote Fabrik is still functioning to this day.”
Banter is rather easygoing from the get-go, as Ian lets the audience in on some of the events that made up their day, concluding “(...) that’s what we do for a living, we dry shoes to hairdryers… meanwhile we’re Fugazi from Washington D.C., have a nice time...”
Still, make no mistake about it, since a lot of the songs that are about to follow, e.g. Dear Justice Letter and Reclamation, were as much of an indictment of the state of affairs in the United States then as they are now, unfortunately.
The audience behaves rather disciplined throughout the evening, yet Styrofoam does feature a bit of an interruption towards the ending of the song while Ian intervenes to keep someone from stage-diving (you can catch it via the link to the video footage below).
More importantly, note the different tag and Beatles reference on Two Beats Off. It is one that I haven’t heard before if I am not mistaken. Guy Picciotto has been so kind and generous to provide some more backstory, painting a clearer picture: “It does seem like in the first verse of the song I am doing a conflation of the lyric from the Beatles’ song GLASS ONION with their other song FIXING A HOLE. I took the line about ‘fixing a hole in the ocean’ from GLASS ONION and ‘where the rain comes in’ is from FIXING A HOLE which in fact GLASS ONION is referencing so the whole thing is a bit circular.  The rest of the song I am making shit up and none of them are from any cover songs.  There is a part where I sing something like ‘I like to paint by numbers / cos I can’t keep in the lines / I like to paint by numbers / to waste (my) time’ and later there is a part about wanting to reach for the moon. I think I was in a free-associating frame of mind because I have no good explanation for why that is what I came up with except that I was improvising and that is what came out.”
The recording offers 21 live songs in total, which is slightly above the crop for this particular tour. These cuts are taken off of In on the Kill Taker (2), Steady Diet of Nothing (6), Repeater (8), Margin Walker EP (3) and the self-titled or 7 Songs EP (2) respectively.
This includes a rather rare 1992 live rendering of Burning Too, as well as standout versions of Repeater and, most definitely, Reprovisional which showcases a lengthy, drawn-out build-up and sounds colossal.
Basically, this one is a show that grows on me as it unfolds, one that culminates in a strong finale with two impeccable encores which includes an unusually late slot for Turnover that has Brendan pounding the snare.
The recording sounds quite good overall. Do note that the volume drops slightly towards the end of Merchandise, and that the vocals or even instrumentation appear slightly louder in the right channel for a good part of the recording, at least after Two Beats Off.
Partial footage of this show (Rend It intro, Merchandise, Dear Justice Letter, Styrofoam, Reclamation) was included in a video on the hardcore scene in Switzerland in 1992 and has been uploaded by the Swiss National TV (SRF) in the course of the digitization process of their archive. It can be accessed via here. These clips certainly portray the band going at it with fervor.
The set list:
1. Intro 2. Brendan #1 3. Merchandise 4. Dear Justice Letter 5. Styrofoam 6. Rend It 7. Reclamation 8. Two Beats Off 9. Great Cop 10. Exit Only  11. Interlude 1 12. Burning Too 13. Margin Walker 14. My personal tdp episode predictions
To be clear I haven't read the dragon prince books though I know the basics of through the moon
Fallen stars: The initial lore drop on the star people's. Maybe a punny parrelel continuation between both Callum and Viren, our falling off cliff boys, also Callum literally being involved with the sky arcanam
Breathtaking: ...So, Callum and Rayla have almost suffocated or drowned how many times? I feel like we'll get a fairly early raylum reunion here, probably tense and angsty with aNoThEr suffocation/watety danger near death experience to get Callum and Rayla not about to smack each other (Maybe sky magic taking? Callum casts with breath? Potential helplessness angst? Metaphor???)
Through the looking glass: Illusions/weird Alice Wonder and the mirror?? More moon nexus stuff?? Callum telling Rayla about the mirror he found? Tension from the previous episode? Probably rallum and ClaudiaxTerry parrelels. Maybe Claudia starting to question her dad. Illusion magic and the idea of not being able to trust your eyes combined with Alice and wonderland???
The great gates: Return to xaidia? Temple or ruins stuff?? Investigating some palace??? I have no idea. Probably a turning point episode
The drakewood: Dragons. Definitely dragons. Maybe Terry lore? Randomly feeling like some fight with happen this ep in some main character dynamic. It's making me think back to when Soren got paralyzed? Curious about what'll happen when Claudia has all white hair. Maybe will involve trickery or hallucination magic, maybe the idea of rebirth again
(Flashbacks to when Callum misused dark magic)(Funny how as Claudia goes darker her hair has gotten whiter(also as protecting people result), gives me yin yang vibes)
Beneath the surface: Something to do with the life blooms and through the moon. I'm realizing how many of these titles are about borders/falling or possibly about them(Rebirthday, a rebeginning, change to next 'phase' of a person's life. Fallen stars, falling away from something, leaving some place. Breathtaking, if my theory holds. Through the looking glass, through to the other side of the mirror. The great gates, well gates, crossing some border. Beneath the surface, self explanatory. King of fire makes me think volcanoes, cracks in the crust. Escape from Umber tor, leaving the up high and shadows. Scares me for Callum with so much anti sky stuff.)
It's interesting to me that Rayla is so scared of water and the amount of drowning imagery in series when combined with how the life blooms work
Wild semi crack threory, reminds me of book of destiny being followed by breathe. I mean so does breath taking. Claudia??????????
Maybe return of runan
Rex igneous: None of Callum's dragon experiences have gone very well on screen. Maybe the queen of dragons went debatedly okay if traumatizingly. Rex igneous/Sol regum(Now I'm thinking about fallen stars again). The last fire king really didn't go well, mainly because of Callum's previous use of dark magic. The names feel very parrelel. If it's the earth dragon than a king of fire and earth seems very reverse of Callum being an assistant of sky and storm. I doubt Rallum will be left out when sun king/crown has its two years later be fire king/escape castle
Probably going to have ClaudiaxTerry, Ezra and zym, RaylaxCallum be put together after (Rallum and ezra)getting split at some point. Callum does need to work on his anxiety about protecting his brother which would be hard to play with his brother right there
I'm guessing everyone realizes they've been played
Maybe with Rayla and Terry we'll get some not so perfect xaidia?? It's been pretty one sided so far and it's generally a writing rule to switch things up after number three
Escape From Umber Tor: Callum probably will resolve an identity arc involving magic, it can either go with him more fully accepting his role or by rejecting it, up or down, you can escape a tower either way when you have wings. It'd be interesting if Callum got out via the top and Claudia through the bottom, with Callum escaping through magic(Still waiting for that freedom symbolism stuff to get to it's point) and wings, while Claudia escapes by going away from the stars(Viren, avaaros, her father's ambition) and the influence of dark magic(that bleaches her). Either way I think Claudia and Callum's greif with directly contrast and parrelel them both, would bookend Rebirthday's ending well
I can see shadows being bad for celestial associated characters (Claudia, maybe Soren, Rayla, maybe Callum, Viren, avaaros, zym)
Random as frick theory because I don't actually have many genuine theories for the finale besides they ain't defeating avaaros yet(or he serves as a transition figure to the big bad for the rest of the series)
Corvus, raven boy, magic smart dark creatures, he help with the tower situation
Miscellaneous theories:
I wanna see Claudia get an arcanum as I'm sure you can tell. Moon arcanum I could see? Interesting Rayla parrellel? But probably no. Sky arcanum? Not impossible, but boring repetitive choice here. The sky arcanam is powered by intense emotions like greif, can heal/purify/banish decay, would make a good Rayla parrellel, double sided and complicated, associated with truth instead of deception like moon and makes me think back to Rayla and Claudia's interactions with Callum at the Nexus, would be funny to see star guy get bashed by xaidia's star, in trailer uses things like lightning and gets backlit by the sun when with Terry, and would be a good break away from "dark" magic. I don't see earth and Terry also being earth would make it a bit boring, if sun is it then it would make sense to parrelel terry/Claudia with the dragons. Ocean is unlikely. Star is probably not gonna happen but maybe could explain the interest of aravoss. So yeah, if Claudia gets an arcanum I'm putting my bets in sun
I'm projecting therapy for Callum or at least another moon lady talk. I'm guessing this will end up being keep bottling up til you snap or shatter, and have to put yourself back together again. I can see Ezra trying to coax him to open up and it not really working. He's been through a lot of lies, betrayal, and almost dying, lost his father when he still hadn't moved past his mother's death, and spent over two years not knowing if Rayla was alive, it won't be easy for him to open up about all of that
I don't like stella. The design freaks me out. I don't trust the star monkey until ezran gives the okay. Someone needs to explain why Ezran can talk to animals.
Terry is not the world's most stable person if the credit drawings are worth going by
The shadow tower will almost undoubtedly be the prison for storing creatures of light
I'm guessing our star elf will be sympathetic, even if we still hate his actions
Corvus x Soren???????? Maybe???????????
