P1Harmony's Killin' It
First of all, I love P1Harmony; I don't know that many of their songs, but the few I do know I really love ("Doom Du Doom" "Gotta Get Back" "Do It Like This" + some others)! Here are some thoughts on their most recent release Killin' It.
If you have any music suggestions, don't hesitate to reach out! I'd love to listen to your favorite song!
Killin' It I LOVE the opening instrumental, and the way it continues underneath the vocals down an octave and down another octave! I love that lowest octave <3 The instrumental harmonies in the prechorus are so cool sounding! I really like the shouty non-pitched chorus - I know these types of choruses can be a little controversial, but I love the hype they can bring.
Late Night Calls This opening melody is so beautiful, especially with the vocal octaves at 0:19!! The acoustic guitar accompaniment in the prechorus is so pretty. The chorus bumps up into a double time feel, and gives a neat contrast from the verse & prechorus. The spatial sound is SUCH a cool effect (1:57)!
Everybody Clap I love a good subtonic!! The opening line is so fun to listen to. The rising instrumental (almost sounds like a car revving?) under the verse brings tension that gets released so satisfyingly during the prechorus! The opening line comes back in the vocal during the chorus, and I adore that mirroring. The rap @ 1:23 is so good and then they drop the little accent harmonies in there and really take it up a notch! The bridge feels like a calm before the storm: it's lower energy, but has rising lines in the background that build tension, which makes the vocal line of the chorus an incredible arrival point.
Love Story A sweet lil love song <3!!! The melody of the chorus starting in a beautifully controlled higher register and then ending all the way DOWN in that low low register for the final "love story" is so moving! And how often do we hear idols sing that low? And then they use that low voice to end the song! I've got goosebumps..
Countdown To Love I loved the vibe of this song from the first second. And 0:22 really cemented that love. The style changes, the bass line changes from following the chord progression to a simple descending line, and the percussion simplifies a lot as well. It's a moment of negative audio space, and it's a cool backing for the rap verses. Something similar happens at the bridge - without the descending bass line, and is a nice break from the upbeat driving force of the rest of the song.
Emergency The face I made when I first heard this was so ugly (in a good way. yknow... stank face?). I love vocal slide at the end of "emergenCY". The break at 1:15 for "beep-beep" is a really cool interest point, the instrumental has been such a pushing, driving force, and just. full stops in a hard cut.
2Nite This song isn't so in-your-face driving like the last two songs, but it still has a lot of energy. It's just more laid back. That bass + face first verse is a classic way to build a tune up in jazz; super cool to hear it in kpop! I love the stop time at hold up (1:36), it's more subtle than the break in "Emergency" but no less cool. the minimal drums throughout works really well to give the song a sense of moving forward, but it's subtle; the song is very bass driven.
Let Me Love You Yet another incredible bass line from p1basslines. This one slaps (literally. it's slap bass, right?). I love the way this opening bass line hints at the melody of the hook, and later is played in full after the final chorus under the outro vocals. The prechorus slows down with a half time feel, and then the vocal melody of the chorus match the bass line. The post chorus brings back that half time feel leading back into the verse. The end of the bridge into the last chorus is a WOAH moment for me - it delays the chorus with an instrumental moment that takes from the melody of the song.
Street Star The vibes of this remind me of an illegal street race. The instrumental is so busy with the trap hi-hat and a synth melody, but it's not distracting from the vocals. I love the bass line in the prechorus (can't you see racecars speeding by while you listen to that?). The style change at 2:03 is incredible, and only lasts for ten seconds. It lays back so far into the pocket, but seamlessly returns to the other style. I wish it lasted for longer! I also wish we had more of that instrumental bit at the very end of the song.
I See U this is my favorite from the album <3 The opening melody is so catchy and beautiful. The synth chord pads, and the breaks in the melody for the melodic synth fills are so good. The break at 0:58 gives such a cool emphasis to that section, especially because it doesn't happen in the other choruses! All the ad libs at the end of the song are so tasty! I cannot say enough good things about this song!!

went ahead and listened to gloom division by idkhow again because I'm seeing them in concert tonight and thought a second listen might make me like the album more (lmao). it didn't really, which isn't to say that I hate it, but I don't think it's as good as razzmatazz or their previous single/ep releases. I know this is dallon weekes' first album on his own so I want to cut him a little slack, he's clearly always been the main creative force behind idkhow but losing your close friend and business partner is rough and has to affect your ability to work.
I expect and hope that as weekes' becomes more comfortable working as a solo artist he'll be able to find his own sound, because while gloom division isn't bad I would call it pretty "meh". it has impressive vocals and fun pop melodies but cliche lyrics detract from its appeal compared to weekes' prior work. I quite liked the lead single but felt like the album went steadily downhill from there in terms of quality, with the first 6 songs being fun and catchy despite the boring lyrics, but the second half of the album being significantly harder to get through. the spoken-word song is bad, which I think highlights the lyric problem the album has, because spoken-word is just lyrics, so if your lyrics are weak your spoken-word song will suck! anyway, I'm being overly critical bc that's just how I am but I genuinely enjoyed many of the songs on the album even if they're not my favorite, and I am still very much looking forward to the concert. if they play choke for the encore then that's all I need.

Laufey album thoughts.
so today laufey posted a LOAD ton of new songs and i'm here to say what i've felt from these songs!! (caution this will have a lot of ramblings and some mentions of some irl stuff of mine so excuse me)
1st- Dreamer
so dreamer is the first on the album and honestly i LOVE it. It gen HITS like how the acapella hits at the start then the instrumental comes in gently is so MMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
This song feels like recovering from a heartbreak and finally gaining hope again and the ability to continue dreaming. Overall its amazing and it may have climbed it's way onto my favorite songs.
2nd- Second best
now this is where the irl stuff may come in. Generally the song has a gentle start and somewhere halfway some more instruments start playing. And the way that the strings kick in give it such a chill giving factor that i love in her songs.
This song reminds me of when i had this really big crush that i was so delulu about because i thought he was giving me so many signs (spoiler he didn't like me at all he liked my friend instead). Anyways this song feels like the haze after crying your heart out and the strings part is the climax of it all when another sudden wave of tears and sadness hit you and leave you so so tired. Overall the song is another BANGER.
3rd- Haunted
i find this song pretty interesting because the chord progression sounds similar to Bewitched but in a lower tone (idk i think im just crazy) and i find that so... brillant? if it actually is similar i find it gen so great considering how the songs are almost polar opposites.
and so i think that Haunted and Bewitched is like two sides of a relationship. Bewitched being the high of it and Haunted being the lows of it. "I know he don't love me quite like I love him" Is a lyric that i gen think that. This song feels like the doubts you can have in a relationships. I also perhaps think that he could refer to the other party or the doubts. Overall i really like it it has a jazzy kind of feel to it.
4th- Must be love
this song is another hit for me. I love the almost vintage vibe it gives off and how gentle it is at the start then slowly getting more confident at the end. the backing vocals and the pizzicato is so GOOD.
This song is actually amazing. At the start the gentleness is as if they really are asking "Must be love?" and the end getting louder in a way is as if they've solidified their decision as if saying "Must be love." completely sure that it is,indeed love. Overall amazing again.
5th- While You Were Sleeping
THIS IS SO FUCKING GOOD. It has a warm tone to it with again gentleness and a bit of bashfulness? It genuinely is so good like the structure and how all the instruments come and deliver the same message.
This song is genuinely so me. This reminds me of the time i somewhat realized i fell in love. I remember that night after talking to them for so long i laid in bed and LITERALLY THOUGHT OF THEM. I thought of how it would be like to be with them and realized that i indeed love them. This song gives off that vibe of daydreaming of them going on a date with you during fall while in the afternoon's softer sun. Overall amazing it made me remember all the indescribable feelings i felt that night.
6th- Lovesick
This song IS SO... SO SO SO... AMAZING. gen started crying tears. everything is so PERFECT in this. It really describes how it feels to be so hopelessly in love with someone and constantly on the high from them talking to you.
This song feels like running around in a field of flowers and grass while holding hands. Then resting against a large rock and having a picnic as you watch the golden rays of the sun illuminate their eyes as they turn to you with those precious eyes so full with joy and love for you as they hand you a sandwich they made for you. UGH IM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS!!! i would name my fiRST BORN CHILD AFTER THIS.
7th- California and Me
Laufey is so genuinely evil for putting this after lovesick because LET ME TELL YOU HOW IT HURTS. This song is so gentle and hurtful. it feels so raw and i love that.
This song's gentleness feels like giving up after trying so hard to keep everything together and even after trying so hard to be perfect for them you feel the hurt and the sting of still not being chosen. (it reminds me of A glass wife/ that Vyn ff on tiktok during the early stages of the reader) It's like sitting in a dark room against a window as it softly rains outside. Overall i love it but whoever hurt Laufey like this WILL PAY I SWEAR.
8th- Nocturne (interlude)
i found it. The song i want to walk down the aisle too. Its as it says an interlude. Its a wonderful mix of California and Me, Bewitched and i think promise too? Even though it doesn't have lyrics it's still so full of emotion.
This song fills me with so many emotions i can't even explain. It's so good. Idk if ya'll will find it weird but i think songs without lyrics can hit harder because sometimes there's never the right words to explain how you feel and music like this is feels like the key to understanding. Stories can be told without uttering a word at all and sometimes leaving things unspoken is a path to understanding.
9th- Promise
oh boy. I LOVE THIS SONG. the build up, the start, the vocals she delivered, EVERYTHING. It genuinely feels like hopelessness and hope at the same time and it does it so well. THIS HITS DEEP IN THE FEELERS.
this song really does a good job at delivering what it's supposed to. It really makes me feel the isolation and how you want to distance yourself but not being able to stop the urges that keep pulling you back. Overall AMAZING AGAIN.
10th- From The Start
i LOVE this song. Its really jazzy?? in a way and really light despite how it talks about desperateness and unrequited love. It's really good like every time i hear it i want to start doing a little dance.
This song is really catchy and is so real tbh. It really feels like your in love with someone with the lightness of it but your not trying to make a big deal or a show about the unrequited side. Like your trying to convince yourself it's fine. Overall i love it (i love it so much i technically have a ff in the makes named after it).
11th- Misty
It sounds so serene. Like it doesn't take place on this world. It feels so cold and somewhat warm in a confusing but comforting way. Its so jazzy and i LOVE that. The way she delivers everything in such a silky smooth way is PERFECT. the " I i in love"part SCRATCHES MY BRAIN
This song makes me feel unexplainable things. Like it feels like a blanket wrapped around you during the cold times while drinking hot cocoa while snuggled up on the couch watching a movie or reading a book. Overall im IN LOVE with the whole thing and her tone.
12th- Serendipity
this song hits. My thoughts when i first listened made me think that it would be so heartbreaking in a sad way but it isn't. It's heartbreaking in such a fluffy way. Like the gentleness and the love in her tone is making me cry.
This song sounds like my midnight talks with them and how the midnight talks are so comforting and soft. Like a soft hug on a chilly morning. It feels like the early hours of the morning when both of you are laying in bed staring at the ceiling while softly talking to each other about anything at all. Talking about that time you tripped and hurt you knee or that time you accidentally got mistaken for someone. It just feels so warm, like its home.
13th- Letter to My 13 Year Old Self
my exact thoughts when first listening to this was as followed: "im scared ooohh? this sounds interesting aw oh oh. oh this hurts OH. THIS HURTS."
This song is so so so comforting. It's like she's a parent reassuring her child expect she's actually caring for herself in the past. I love how its all completely calm and stays like that until the end. I love how everything in this song complements each other.
This song makes me remember when our teacher made us write letters for our future selves to come back and read. When i get mine back i wish to write a letter responding to everything my past self has worried about and asked to let them and myself know that it's okay. That we've grown so much and that the worries will all be okay for us. Overall it's so heartbreaking in a comforting way.
14th- Bewitched
LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I LOVEEEE THIS SONG. its my everything. it's all so full of love. i want to propose using this song and have my wedding dance with this song. Everything delivers so well to convey the pure emotion in the whole song. The pure love and admiration being expressed.
This song makes me cry every time i hear it because of how sweet it is. This song feels like being content with your life and slow dancing with your lover at night as you both stare into each other's eyes and smile like idiots. But again as i said in the Haunted part of this, this song feels like the good side of a relationship. This song is like it portrays the relationship that people crave and fantasize about. Overall I. Love. This. Song.
-Overall on the album
Overall i really like this album and how it feels like a rollercoaster of emotions. It feels like falling in love then going through heartbreak and recovering. my overall rating of this album is def 10/10 i loved it and every song was a BANGER.
anyways that's all from my yapping session today!!! byyeeee

My thoughts regarding Sabrina Carpenter's album
Hi! This is a very short review of Sabrina Carpenter's "emails i can't send" album!
I first posted this on twitter and I have to describe my thoughts with the characrer limit so some are very short!
1. emails i can't send
Tumblr media
Rating: 9/10
Thoughts:
This made me cry since it made me revisit a not so happy memory which caused me trust issues lol.
Anyway i like how it is so raw and honest. I also love the melody.
2. Vicious
Tumblr media
Rating: 8.5/10
Thoughts:
Very catchy. I love the instrumental. The bridge was also good. I added this on my playlist~ It also reminded me of someone I know who fits the song perfectly
3. Read Your Mind
Tumblr media
Rating: 8/10
Thoughts:
Another catchy song 👏
I LOVE the beat, it makes me wanna dance. My fave part is the pre-chorus! The lyrics is about frustration towards someone who is really indecisive 😂
4. Tornado Warnings
Tumblr media
Rating: 7.5/10
Thoughts:
That bass tho. The song is good but not something i would have on repeat. Bridge is good! Her vocals are pretty.
5. because i liked a boy
Tumblr media
Rating: 8/10
Thoughts:
Is this about the whole driver's license situation? I love the chorus of this one. I kinda sympathize with her bc people can be so cruel. Like, they are so fast to jump on that hate train when they only know a snippet of what happened.
6. Already Over
Tumblr media
Rating: 8/10
Thoughts:
Chorus is very catchy and I love the beats. The melody is upbeat and reminds me of vlog music but the lyrics is pretty sad.
7. how many things
Tumblr media
Rating: 8.5/10
Thoughts:
Tbh I paid no attention to this song on first listen but upon reading the lyrics, I find it really sad. It's about realizing that ur special someone is slowly falling out of love w/ you. I love the pre chorus her vocals are really heavenly. One of my faves in this album.
8. bet u wanna
Tumblr media
Rating: 8.5/10
Thoughts:
An absolute banger for me 👏
It's about those exes who wants to come back 🙄
I like the scoff on the bridge 😂
Definitely going on my playlist
9. Nonsense
Tumblr media
Rating: 9/10
Thoughts:
This song is the reason I'm listening to the album 😂 It's VERY CATCHY and has been stuck in my mind for weeks.
10. Fast Times
" Give me a second to forget I
ever really meant it "
Rating: 7.5/10
Thoughts:
Love the instrumental and the chorus is catchy.
P.S. I've reached the image limit so no images from here onwards
11. skinny dipping
"We've been swimming on the
edge of the cliff
I'm resistant, but goin' down
with the ship
It'd be so nice right? Right?
If we could take it all off and just
exist
And skinny dip in water under the
bridge"
Rating: 7/10
Thoughts:
Feels like a song from a musical. I like the chorus.
12. Bad for Business
"He's good for my heart but he's
bad for business"
Rating: 8.5/10
Thoughts:
Have you been so inlove that you did things that are not very typical of you? If yes, then this is the song for you. I love this song bc i can relate to it ><
13. decode
" You're good at falling, not
the staying there
You're good at the giving too
much then getting scared
You're good at impersonating
someone who cares "
Rating: 8/10
Thoughts:
It's a song for those who had the courage to walk away from a very toxic relationship :)

(by the way im running on 3 hours of sleep and anxiety so if its reduced review pls dont mind)
brand new: there is no reason for this song to go this fucking hard im gonna yell also the instrumental part reminds me of alien boy by oliver tree (1:58) and it’s so awesome

Album Thoughts: HIVEMIND by Ninty
Currently listening to HIVEMIND by Ninty and it's like an hour long so I probably won't make an entire list of my thoughts on each song but I'm only 20 minutes in and there's already such a nice variety with the music oh my goodness. I feel like each one takes me somewhere completely new, I really like this album. I wanna go back and listen to some of these and try and get some inspo, these really make me want to make something. I wanna try and make an original, finished beat some time next week! HIVEMIND on YT HIVEMIND on Bandcamp

i love the…. almost horror aspects of this album. all the references to ghosts and death…. and sonically, the unexpected shrieking in WAOLOM and the banging and screaming during “old habits die screaming” and even the way the tension subtly builds across the sixteen tracks and by the end you’re so stressed and shaken it’s like! losing your sense of self and feeling like you’ve become a monster is horror. and i’m sooooo glad she leaned into it

just listened through mountainhead for the second time. I don't know if it's as strong an album as their last album, but it still has some really good songs. I don't think I actively disliked any of the tracks, but I definitely got the feeling on my second listen that many of them were skippable/not worth the 3 minutes it would take to listen to them again.
that being said, the songs that I liked, I really liked, maybe even more so than my favorites from raw data feel? so is an album "better" if it has a few better songs but also more skips than the last one? who knows, either way I'm happy that everything everything is still putting out good songs after over 10 years because that's the point at which a lot of artists I used to like started dropping off.

Born Pink Album Thoughts
Tumblr media
My thoughts regarding Blackpink's 2nd Full Album
Hello and Hi!
A little bit overdue but this is gonna be a short review of Born Pink album.
Born Pink is the second full album of Blackpink, a south korean girl group under YG entertainment.
Just a PSA: I'm a Blink so I might be a bit biased with my opinions ><
I remember the hype of this last year because they rarely release comebacks! The moment I heard there was a FULL album, I immediately pre-ordered all versions.
Anyways, this review will be super short compared with the one I did with Olivia's Sour album so without further ado, let's go!
1. Pink Venom
Tumblr media
Rating: 8/10
Thoughts:
Ok don't be mad but on first listen, I absolutely hated the chorus. I love everything except that chorus. But well since I keep streaming, it kinda grew on me 😂 Now it's my freakin anthem lol.
JenLisa rap parts were fire and ChaeSoo bridges were amazing! The "Blackpiiiink" chant was amazing as well. We sounded like a cult when we were chanting it on the concert ><
2. Shut Down
Tumblr media
Rating: 9/10
Thoughts:
I LOVE this song no matter what anyone says. For me, it's one of their best title songs Jisoo's chorus part is fire, what a bias wrecker. I like the mix of classical La Campanella strings and modern beats. Also, the MV gave me goosebumps and made me cry a little. I've been a blink since their debut and seeing them reference and recreate their previous MV scenes made me realize that they made it despite all the hate that they got. My girls came so far 🥺
Also the lyrics?? Like hello! It's obviously for those who are dragging them down. My favorite lines are "Bunch of wannabes that wanna be me, me three of I was you" and "Praying for my downfall many have tried baby" like yes girls tell 'em!
Whip it whip it whip it is hard to pronounce tho haha
3. Typa Girl
Tumblr media
Rating: 8/10
Thoughts:
This song has been stuck in my head for months. I lost count of how many times I had this on repeat haha. I absolutely love the beats and the line, "I bring money to the table not your dinner".
Lyrics is a bit of a pick me girl moment but eh, it's good and catchy 🤷‍♀️
Also, has anyone watched their Coachella set for this song??? The choreo? The creative direction?? EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT. Blackpink headlining Coachella is well deserved 👏👏
4. Yeah Yeah Yeah
Tumblr media
Rating: 7/10
Thoughts:
A song written by Rosie and Jichu! Finally members getting credited amirite?? I actually like it. It's kinda perfect for encores and ending their concerts. Has a retro vibe.
GIF is from yours truly~ They sang this song in Born Pink Bulacan!
5. Hard to Love
Tumblr media
Rating: 10/10
Thoughts:
My absolute favorite. This is what I expected Rose's solo to be like haha. OTG and Gone are good but Hard to Love is THE song for her. This song is stuck in my playlist for months. The guitar is just ❤️❤️
Please Rosie sing this on your tours or concerts I'm begging you.
6. The Happiest Girl
Tumblr media
Rating: 7/10
Thoughts:
It's a pretty...sad song. The lyrics hurt my heart and soul. Maybe it's a song when you are going through a breakup.
I was shookt when Lisa sang! She has such a pretty voice.
I gave it a 7 score bc well it's not really my cup of tea (don't attack me pls). It's good tho don't get me wrong but personally won't have it on repeat.
7. Tally - 10/10
Tumblr media
This song is one of my faves. It has a pretty great message about just being yourself and never minding what other people says.
For me, this song reflects them SO much. Let's be honest here, they've been through so much unneccessary hate. Everything they do, no matter how small, is just always under scrutiny. Like, give them a f**cking break 🙄 So yes, I imagine that this is THE comfort song for them. We say f*ck when we feel it \m/
8. Ready for Love
Tumblr media
Rating: 7.5/10
Thoughts:
I actually like this song why do other Blinks shade it so much 😅
The bridges are probably my favorite! Jisoo + bridges are such a good combination
