so there are lots of ships in sp, canon and otherwise, and here’s a hot take: they’re all problematic.

the canon ships especially. insane as it might seem, i don’t give a fuck if my ship is problematic or not (I just want to acknowledge and be aware of the problematic aspects of it)

hell the act of shipping in and of itself can be considered prrreeettty sketchy if you think too hard

but why am i uppity about this if i dont care if a ship is problematic or not?

because there’s one ship that ALWAYS gets a pass on being problematic: creek

this aint a hate piece on creek but istg if i read one more message / post / hot take / meta that says “all the ships are problematic, except creek of course” or something to that degree (ESPECIALLY when its compared to stendy) I’m going to rip out my hair

creek is not un-problematic. I think it’s totally cool to ship it if you do, go nuts, ship it all day and all night, but holyshit, it is not “the only good couple” or whatever

What’s the creek plot in tfbw again? oh, was it ‘they broke up over something petty and then got back together again’? BEACAUSE THATS THE CREEK PLOT OF TFBW

but no, every time stendy break up and get back together its proof that they’re a toxic relationship

i just fucking hate that people give creek a pass because their yaoi boner is so fucking big that they haven’t realized that they have a HUGE double standard for what is and what isn’t ‘proof’ of a toxic relationship.

sure, I can agree that stendy is plenty toxic and i can agree that fucking every canon ship in sp is plenty toxic, but dont fucking try to feed me that creek is somehow completely perfect. literally the entire REASON they got together to begin with is reason enough to be skeptical of how unproblematic their relationship is (how much of their feelings are sincere and how much of it is them caving under the pressure? how much of their relationship is hinged on literally being forced together? how much of their love is even real???? what if one of them actually loves the other and the other one is only doing it because they cant handle the insane pressure of an entire town shipping you?)

(NOT TO MENTION THAT THE ENTIRE EPISODE WAS A COMMENTARY ON STUPID SHIPPING FETISHIZATION OF GAY PEOPLE BUT HEY, LETS IGNORE ALL THE SOCIAL COMMENTARY THAT SP IS BASED ON BECAUSE SOUTH PARK ISNT A FUCKTON OF SOCIAL COMMENTARY SINCE LITERALLY EPSIODE ONE--side note but im very annoyed at the number of people who say that south park is only recently become obsessed with social commentary. guys, just because you didnt watch big gay al when he was relevant social commentary, doesn’t mean that it wasn’t social commentary)

ANYWAY im not going to list every toxic aspect of creek’s relationship because tbh i dont even hate creek and its not the worst ship in the show (that award currently goes to sharon and randy, with linda and stephen as a close second) but im just reallyyyyyyyyy tired of reading ‘stendy is horrible but creek is perfect’ or something like that

even spicier take: literally every ship, including creek, can be interpreted in a non-problematic way. (except for the parents, holyshit the parents are awful) Considering the characters ages, a lot of the shitty stuff they do can pretty easily be handwaved away as “I WAS NINE!” and not to mention, even some of the aspects that are deffiiinitely problematic can be considered positively in the eye of the beholder because shockingly different people are attracted to different things. but it really gets my goat when someone lampoons on ship for a specific reason and then COMPLETELY ignores that the ship they used as an example of a ‘good ship’ ALSO incorporated that specific reason into their relationship.

(ie: its just unhealthy how stan and wendy dont treat each other like real people and dont listen to each others problems. oh but craig ignoring tweek was totally kawaii uwu and the way they presumed the worst of the other and publically shamed one another is totally adorable!) <--both accusations are canon but fucking... dont pretend creek aint problematic. its no better or worse than any other super problematic ship in this fucking show

TFBW Game Is A Blessing For Craig and Tweek

So, my last post about Kenny McCormick seemed to be pretty well received so I thought I would touch on another part of South Park and it’s surprisingly progressive messages despite seeming like a low brow potty humor show.

Now Craig Tucker is my second favorite character beside Kenny and obviously when most people think about him they think about his sexuality and how he is confirmed gay with Tweek Tweak. This is what I want to touch on despite knowing people have done it before. Most of my points are about TFBW so if you haven’t played it please be aware I am spoiling one of the quests within the game and thus you might want to look away.

Now in TFBW you find that before the game even starts, Craig and Tweek have separated after an argument. Talking with Craig brings to light that they fought because Tweek decided to split from Coon and Friends and join Freedom pals and had expected Craig to follow. Well, he didn’t. Craig stayed with Coon and Friends and views Tweek as a traitor who abandoned him. Tweek wanted to move to the far more progressive and inclusive Super Team and honestly I am on his side, but that is beside the point. In the game we mediate between the two, trying to get Craig’s laptop back that the two shared only for Tweek to rebut that he wanted Stripe #4 back because he was the one how actual bought him for them to share in a similar fashion to the laptop. Cue a fetch quest to get Stripey Boi and we then convince the two to go to counseling with Mister Mackey which has your character, Tweek and Craig, fighting some small kids which have shirts represented things like expectations, responsibility, jealousy and the likes and throughout the battle it becomes increasingly clear that the only way to win is to BAND TOGETHER WITH THE POWER OF HE-MAN...okay no, but rather for Tweek and Craig to put aside their petty squabbling and learn to understand that social pressures can only be overcome in they stand beside one another and face them head on. They join hands, get  cute and funny joint ult that kicks ass, and get back together.

What I really loved about this is how the creators of South Park managed to portray a very real relationship between the two boys with their normal flair and exaggeration, without just blatantly making the gay aspect of it the only driving or interesting factor (Like Mr Slave and Big Gay Al but they are comic relief characters so I don’t have a problem with that). They both were upset the other decided not to follow/stay in the same group and through their differing ideals they were torn apart which is something that happens with real relationships everyday, Homosexual or otherwise. They have a pet together, they have battle voice lines together likes Tweek’s if you Rez him as anyone but Craig.

“If Craig were here he would have done it”.

These two have such an interesting yet pure relationship that just makes my heart melt and the creators have been very respectful yet still retaining their normal comedic edge when addressing it. I am truly thankful and proud that the show is so open and able to represent that sort of relationship and not feel the need to make it overtly stereotypical (Again, see Mr Slave and Big Gay Al). It is a great step in showing that these types of people can be shown in media without the need to make it all one big joke. They are just people trying to be people.

unpopular opinion but tweek and craig is honestly a toxic shipping. yeah it's cute and all like "yay!! fourth graders are part of the LGBT!!" sure! i get it!! it's great! but is nobody going to see the fact that it was a shipping that was pretty much FORCED upon them? not to mention earlier I was playing TFBW and came on here and seen nothing but creek in the game. i haven't gotten that far yet (I only just finished fighting the strippers) but every scene they've been in involves them arguing with each other, and instead of saying "holy shit, tweek and craig are fighting with each other, their relationship isn't doing so good and is coming to the part where it's verbally abusive", everyone's getting pleasure out of it by saying "UwU they're SO in love with each other despite them shitting on each other all the time!!!!!" if y'all want a nontoxic gay shipping in south park, go back to the older days with big gay al and mr. slave, or when mr. garrison got a sex change and hit up all the lesbian bars. i know that 9 out of 10 people are going to shit on me for this so please, hit me with your best shot

Uh oh, so I finished the game.

Definitely a worse story than SOT but overral i actually liked the gameplay and the amount personality given to each character was great despite my initial doubts

SP houses who proudly show their creek yaoi in their homes (some of the parents, Shelly, Ike, Bebe, Kenny's siblings, ecc) vs SP houses who hide their yaoi in the garage (the Cartman, Stoches, Donovans, Valmers, Daniels, ecc), this says a lot about their society

I always found the Raisins Girls somewhat interesting because their mere existence is really a lot of things that have never been explored, they are children who actively chose to be sex workers for some reasons and are arguably the most sympathetic portrayal of the subject to date in the show (and no neither Classi or Liane fucking count)

There is a lot of contrast between their bimbo attitude that they keep up even outside workplace and their act business-driven mentality (at least for Lexus and Mercedes, some of them really are just bimbos); i like how determinated they are even if it comes at the cost of getting into weird situations like with Butters and then rightfully trying to take revenge on Clyde by doxxing him like if everyone didn't already know where his house is located, but they also absolutely scam and manipulate their clients with no remorse which is very funny until you play TFBW and they scam YOU

Fuck you Raisins i have joined Clyde's crusade again for that

Tfbw starts and ends with Stephen speaking.... he's the real star of this show

I really like Classi (also Jimmy still having a soft spot for her, i hc she is kinda his "cool aunt") despite being a semi joke character but I also really hate that in the italian dub she is voiced by a man
