@carboniferouz submitted: Last summer i got this picture of two beautiful dragonflies in the middle of a mating ritual and i was wondering what species they could be ? found in northern italy! :)
Ohhh I hope they made lots of babies together! Looks like a couple of darners in the genus Aeshna.
@karltface submitted: First, the better video of Viola:
Absolutely lost in the sauce with those dewdrops.
Also, this fellow showed up at work and stayed put for my entire 9-hour shift. A coworker named him Darrel, but I can't put my finger on the exact species.
His colors looked pretty washed out in person (i think it's a male?). Kind of skinny for the length, absolutely not bothering to react no matter how close I got. Roughly 3", southern WI.
Ohhhh to be a tiny wasp sipping dew drops from lush foliage. Darrel is beautiful! He may just be resting or it's possible he's close to death and that's why he's not reacting. Hopefully the former! I'm honestly terrible at IDing dragonflies to a species unless they're very distinct. This one MAYBE is a Canada darner. I'd need to see a better shot of the end of the tail where the cerci are to sex it properly!
