In episode one of Fantasy High, Adaine casts Tasha's Hideous Laughter on Aelwyn and Aelwyn not only makes her save but reverses it onto Adaine. Eleven episodes later, Adaine casts Tasha's on Aelwyn as the final blow to defeat her in an all out battle and thoroughly embarrass her in front of all of her peers.
Now, Adaine casts the same spell on Aelwyn as a bit of good natured teasing and Aelwyn elects to fail the save.
Aelwyn might not want to heal as fast as Jawbone wants but she IS healing. They both are!

god like. the funniest thing about adaine abernant to me is that she is sooooo petty. she is so deeply capable of being a mean bitch. she used to be chronically anxious but she’s medicated now and that was the only thing holding her back from being born a hater and dying a hater. she loves her friends and the supportive environment that her new family gives her but this is also the same character who at fifteen years old (deservedly) told an incel he sucked multiple times over to his face and sent her sister who sucks to elf prison

it's almost 4am and i am. simply. thinking about adaine and aelwyn. they grew up together, binded by blood and their wretched parents. adaine felt she was disposable, clawing to keep up with aelwyn. reading book after book, working on her cantrips, building up her spells — working and bleeding and trying, trying, trying, but never could be enough
aelwyn. working just as hard to stay in the good graces of her parents. tearing down adaine at every step, too. with every breath and every rung, they both tried to tear each other down.
in quiet moments, though, almost completely without words, adaine would braid aelwyn's hair and aelwyn would use a mending spell to iron out adaine's school uniform. they'd brush their teeth in silence in the shared bathroom. looking at each other, afraid and comforted by their similarities. flinching at the voice of their father — adaine shrinks in, aelwyn puffs out her chest.
they're kids, small and scared, but together, at least. the yellow light creeps into the living room, their hushed laughs fills their chest. they are sisters, blood and hatred tangling together, forever bonded.
there is no love that is stronger than 2 sisters who have fought their entire lives to be better than the other. in the end, though, it doesn't really matter. their mother and their father had greater matters than their daughters. they have each other.
aelwyn and adaine hold each other, stroke each others hair and whisper secrets to each other, like: i love you, you are the deep sick feeling of trust, i would do anything to keep you.
it's 4am and i miss my sister. there is nothing greater than a love from siblings who have been through what you have both endured.
