Samothraki's towers alias towers of Gateluzi, alias castle of Samothraki. Samothraki island 2008 From my project "Chateaux Forts de Grece".

In 2006 the fortresses were exhibited at the Byzantine Museum, ''Byzantines Fortress in Greece'' then, in 2007 the French Embassy in Athens undertook major exhibitions on the ''Fortresses of Greece''-''Chateaux forts de Grece'' in Rhodes, Kalamata, Patras, Athens, Nafplio. Near the archaeological site of Paleopolis, (the most important in Samothrace and one of the most important in Greece) 4km north of Chora, on a hill with a beautiful view, stand the three towers of the Gateluzos, which remind of the short period when the well-known Genoese house defended the island. Despite the name "Paleopolis Towers" that has prevailed, these are not individual towers, but the ruins of a regular medieval castle of the 15th century.

I present to you, the Temple of Poseidon! I have crossed air, land and sea to find you. Happy Friday my explorers, adventurers and deep spirits! Out of the five months I have been traveling, THIS is my favorite monument BY FAR. Zoom into the first pic and you can see the impressive Temple of Poseidon from afar on the mountain. Flip a bit more and you can see the scale up close. Thousands of years and still standing. Maybe it’s my favorite because seeing it from afar builds up excitement as you approach it and ascend the final 800 meters up the mountain. Or maybe because Sailor Neptune is my scout in my group of girlfriends and has powers of the sea and my passions have come full circle 🤷‍♀️ Still standing. I like that.
