The Haven is progressing ❤︎
First, I want to thank my sweetest @365runesofwriting for so graciously allowing me to take inspiration from their monthly wrapup; I'm not sure whether I'll be able to keep up with this, but I would certainly like to try!
(I'll also be lumping in August, in terms of posts.)

𝚐𝚎𝚗𝚎𝚛𝚊𝚕 𝚙𝚊𝚝𝚌𝚑 𝚗𝚘𝚝𝚎𝚜 ---
➺ After returning from quite a long break, I'm pleased to report the haven has nearly reached the Five Hundred Follower Milestone! During this month, 45 new sprites made their way to safety.
➺ During this time, I also updated my blog theme, colors, and pages. I now have a new masterlist of my works, a character library (WIP), and I plan on making an expanded navigation page in the future!
➺ I opened my discord server, North Haven, to the writeblr public; a space for writers to share their work in specialized categories and/or channels, known as 'realms,' as well as participate in sprints and QotD!
➺ Created a masterlist of writeblr blogs, known as The Locket and it already has 36 blogs! I very much hope for that number to continue to grow.
➺ I've managed to go into more detail when answering asks, and I've even done my best to focus on only a few WIPs to help followers connect to my works better; Servant to Dragon and King and Fable
➺ Though I've had my blog for a while, I joined a whole new writeblr community, and I've met so many wonderful new mutuals since. As such, I can't help but mention a few that have been especially welcoming, in no particular order:

The summer leading up to this month has been quite long... that said, I've made a lot more progress than I ever expected!
➺ After stepping away permanently from my coauthor of 5 years, I've managed to detach my work from theirs; my characters stand proudly on their own, joined by quite a few new ones, and my worlds are blazing brighter than ever
➺ I now have two universes; Alatheia, and now Elysia.
➺ I also have three new planets; Firma, Lockehaven, and Lumia.
➺ Old WIPs have been archived, with a few pages dusted off and rewritten to fit my current world.
➺ I started a new project, Faefinder; a WIP still in its very early stages of brainstorming and research, and a setting I've not used before.
➺ I began writing Angel to Mage; a WIP that for now is a collection of snippets in the hero x villain style, and is another concept I've not worked with before.
➺ I've built up pinterest boards for quite a few of my characters and developed others.
➺ Character playlists have been cleaned up and expanded.

Two-Factor Authentication
pCloud offers Two-Factor Authentication to secure your account. If you lost your password or someone got your password they wouldn't be able to login your account unless they have access to your account as well.
Privacy
pCloud has its servers in the US (Dallas and Texas) and EU (Luxembourg), it allows you to select where you want to store your data at the time of registration. Your files are stored in at least three different server locations in a highly secure data storage area.

pCloud offers 10 GB Cloud Storage with the Free Account, which you can upgrade anytime with the premium plans as per your requirement.

•With moth’s new backstory, it stays the same with who started trusting them first and last. First was lupin, second was goemon, last was jigen. Fujiko likes them just i dont include her too much. I can explain this later when I word it better a
•if you know me very very personally you know I have never been relaxed ever/hj. But i do think constantly about when moth and Goemon do get closer, he’s able to tell who they are if that makes sense?? I love the idea that Goemon is very observant of people around him. He has very good judgement when it comes to that. Im really considering keeping it the same that Goemon is teaching moth how to fight and im probably gonna keep thats even with changing moth up, but I do think abt him saying like “you carry a lot.” Shit like that and it’s calming to me??? Like if im ever angry or whatever i think of that and like him talking me through it??? Man im an idiot
•I have no explanation for this bullet point other than lupins hands are very nice and id like to hold im never gonna stop talking about it he’s just so nice and charming and ghhhhb
•This is literally just a goofy little headcanon. I know for a damn fact a few of the safe houses have record players cause thats just jigen and lupin’s aes. Moth putting those like small plastic animal toys on the spinner when a record isnt on and just watching it spin for a bit like a cat.
•I prefer thinking lupin plays electric guitar other than bass cause it matches his energy better and jigens energy matches bass better. Ive explained how them being musically inclined is canon before. Anyway my friend has a bass playlist and I keep thinking abt moth and lupin playing some of those somgs together cause they just like goofing around like that

Okay, this is the first in a new monthly series we will have on Iowa Music Showcase.
Fester Rage was an amateur videographer who from August, 2007, to September, 2015, recorded various live shows here in Des Moines, both from local acts and national. On this website, we will be only featuring the Iowa artists. But you can watch all his videos on his YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/unclefesterrage.
The first show he recorded was actually a reunion show from a popular 80s Des Moines punk band, A Testament of Youth, or ATOY as they were commonly called.
"Formed in 1981 by Factory Records aficionados Paul Standard and Dave Edwards, A Testament of Youth or ATOY (pronounced AE-TOI) were Iowa's first Post-Punk band. ATOY were Paul and Dave's response to the bland Styx and Journey-inspired rock that was prevalent throughout the midwest during the late 70s and early 80s. Looking to do something darker and more arty, guitarist Paul and producer Dave set out to forge a new midwest sound. Brad Roth, who was then singing in and playing bass for the power-pop trio The Blue Cruisers was recruited as a front man. With the addition of newcomers Mark Penner on bass and Lonnie Urich on drums, ATOY was set to play the now legendary 1981 2 day Iowa punk/new wave festival, Music For No-Man's Land. A surprise hit at the festival, ATOY contributed two songs to the 'Music For No-Man's Land' release, Roth's Television-inspired "Chemical Boys" and Standard's epic dirge "Requiem for a Priest". ATOY were soon playing gigs throughout Iowa. Due to differences in vision, Dave Edwards soon left the group. ATOY's music at the time was thin, brittle and experimental using rhythm machines, tape loops and incorporating short-wave radio broadcasts into their live shows. Brad's onstage antics were legendary, often getting the group banned from some of the more mainstream rock clubs. Paul decided to return to college late in 1981, leaving the band looking for a new guitarist. Greg Owen, who had played with Brad Roth previously in the Blue Cruisers joined in early 1982. Owen brought a tough, shredding guitar style to ATOY which propelled their sound into a more aggressive stance. Penner and Urich similarly toughened up their sound and Roth's wild stage persona evolved into a dadaist Iggy Pop. Brad's lyrics began to take a darkly poetic turn and led to him being called 'the Baudelaire of the heartland'. Over the next year and a half, the band began touring around the midwest to ever increasing crowds. During that period, many of ATOY's most popular songs, such as 'Stickmen', 'Creeps with Forks' and 'Cut and Restored' were written. The group gained in popularity and the now defuct nightclub So's Your Mothers, opened another venue, Mother's Underground, to regularly showcase ATOY and other Iowa underground bands. The volatile mix of personalities in the band began to take it's toll and in the Spring of 1983 ATOY decided to call it quits. Their final show was recorded and release on CD many years later. A videotape of that last show called "The Final Plunge" was aired on Des Moines TV... In 2005 ATOY were asked to do a reunion show. The success of that show surprised them as much as their fans. This led to the band resuming playing again. The volatile mix of personalities did lead to a couple of false starts, but ATOY is officially back together, writing new material and playing to new fans as well as old. Since ATOY never really sounded like anyone else, the band's music doesn't sound dated to new fans. New material has been written as well as a number of Buick McSnake songs being reworked into ATOY's sound...and then after a dozen or so gigs it all came crashing down. The volatile chemistry of the band once again blew up. As a longtime fan of the band remarked 'If everyone were mature and responsible, it wouldn't be ATOY. You guys have broken up for good before. Hopefully you'll do it again.' Here's to hoping that it'll happen again."

April’s been full of ups and downs for me.

My top 10 playlists for study and relaxation (mostly study). October 2021

September - My Fave Playlists
September 2021. Playlists for study and relaxation
1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time OST ♬ Complete Original Soundtrack

I find game OSTs to be very helpful to me for concentration and excitement while studying. And Zelda music played on low volume has the perfect effect of keeping me intereseted in my lessons while not getting distracted. This playlist is the first one I used for my school year, and kept me going in our first math lessons.
Note: There’s another Zelda playlist that I loved listening to, but I checked today and it’s been blocked for copyright reasons... :(
2. an emma playlist | if i had loved you less, i might be able to talk about it more

Even for writing essays on History or just chilling in your bed as you mentally rewatch you favorite Jane Austen adaptation, this playlist is perfect. Will most likely use this as background music when I finally get to read Emma.

I just discovered this channel and it has been my favorite go-to for the past month.
The song choices in this specific playlist is, quite magical and soothing. It’s been raining a lot here in our country. The weather and this playlist just blends so well together.

This playlist has rain with it. Helped me trudge through our Philosophy essays. And just vibe with the melancholy and pain brought to us by academics.
5. DARK ACADEMIA PLAYLIST for melancholic writers (classical)

This is my favorite one among the three dark academia playlists listed here. All of them really stimulated my brain to think and puts me in a focus mode. It made me love studying more, and see the fun and wonder in learning.

April Playlists
It's been a long while, because honestly the only playlist I've had on repeat is the #2 here. Works effectively for me.
1. a playlist of underrated female composers, pt. 1 (classical)

Discovering this made me so happy since I don't really see female-composed works in most classical playlists I listen to. This playlist has been very educational and the works are absolutely lovely. Great thanks to the uploader nobody!
2. speedrunning an assignment but it is a ✨ world record✨ // not so chill lofi/piano music playlist

I discovered this just in time while I was cramming a Pre-Calculus worksheet and quiz. This is my most listened to and I for sure will come back to this again. (lowkey makes me feel like a fancy intellectual...)

5. The Chronicles of Narnia - Relaxing Ambient & Music - William Maytook
I've been having bouts of anger recently, and this calms me down. The visuals of the video also helps in making you feel relaxed and transporting you to another world. 10/10!
William Maytook created a ton other fanmade soundtracks (and not just for the Narnia series) and they are genius!
