Ok so we got the dads who went intimidating dad mode (or in Lysandre's case, bastard mode) when they found out who s/o is currently dating.

Now we need the dads/moms who saw the subway masters and absolutely approve of them being their lil baby's bfs. Parents who are like "ayy good job baby here's some cash so u can go on dates or maybe hire a wedding planner lmao"

💐Sycamore🌳

🍃 He's the sweetest, loving father imaginable, you think. He's always wholeheartedly supported your ambitions and been your shoulder to cry on. He gave you a pokemon when you were younger and sent you on a small adventure throughout Kalos to give you a bit of experience. The professor wants nothing more than the best for, and he thinks the world of you.

🍃 That's why he is both ecstatic and sad to hear you decided to more to Unova. His precious child is moving away, but it's in pursuit of your dreams. He kisses both your cheeks at the airports and hugs you close. You talk with each other almost nightly, as there's nothing better than gossiping with your dad.

🍃 Of course, you start to tell him about these guys from the subway station that you like. Sycamore starts encouraging you to ask them out almost instantly. Ah, young love. It was precious to him. He's excited when you call and tell him about your newly taken status. He's so happy for you!

🍃 Naturally, you and your father make plans for him to come over to visit with you and perhaps do a little research. The region is host to two pokemon, Shelmet and Karrablast, with an odd evolution method. He arrives at the airport, and you nearly tackle him into a hug, missing him terribly. He smiles a loving grin at you. “Papa! Papa, come on! You have to meet them,” you demand while pulling him through the crowds of people.

🍃 Sycamore is sat down with the twins at a Kalosian style café that they chose in an attempt to appeal to your father. Ingo was nervous he wouldn't like them, but Emmet didn't care what your father thought yet worried about how it will affect your opinion of them. His grey eyes stare at the brothers, what a strange pair you found. “I'm Professor Augustine Sycamore. It's a pleasure to finally have a meeting you,” his voice was a bit on the professional side, but he gave them one of his amicable grins, “I must thank you for making them so happy. To know they found love, well, it makes this old man want to cry.” The twins lighten up after that.

🍃 Emmet has an in-depth conversation with your father about evolution and possible connections to breeding, which makes him decide Sycamore may be able to replace his father. If only he could discuss the functions of a locomotive diesel engine. Ingo finds interest in your father's ambition to help support beginning trainers and trying to battle, despite it not being in his forte. They both like your father, and Sycamore finds them more charming after seeing them in person. He trusted your choice all along.

🍃 Of course, they do miss your father complaining about the authenticity of the café. And how strange he finds their ability to accidentally sync up completely. He bids them an adieu, but not before Emmet offers him a Joltik. Your father debates the small creature for a moment. Ultimately, he takes because he finds the kindness refreshing. The twins find yourself father a bit weird as he trails off from Galarian into Kalosian sometimes or says “magnifique” over “magnificent”. Or how he kept making comments to you in Kalosian as he considered the menu. They shrug it off, happy that he liked them.

(The Joltik makes appearances during your video calls with your father. Squeaking whenever they spot Emmet in the background, trying to crawl through the screen. It seems you weren't the only one who misses their father.)

🔥Kabu🐛

🏟 Fire dad loves you and was a bit overbearing growing up. Constantly cheering for you and wanting you to do the gym challenge. Of course, he showed you no mercy when you had gotten to him. People still talk about how aggressive Kabu was to poor you. Though, you still beat him, so everything was a null point. He ruffled your hair afterwards and praised you happily in Hoennian. The touching scene was broadcast everywhere for about a month.

🏟 He's happy you've decided to try moving away from home, but wonders why you chose Unova over Hoenn. He's a bit disappointed about that, but he's proud to see you want to try another gym challenge after you made it to the semi-finals in Galar. He hugs you tightly in the airport and wishes you good luck. His smile is bright as he watches your Sizzlipede curls around you like a scarf. He calls you about three times a week to check in on you.

🏟 He's a bit confused when you start gushing about these twins you met in the subways of Nimbasa. Weren't you doing a gym challenge? You were, but these guys were apparently super cute, so you stayed a little too long in the city despite having beat Elesa already. He sighs, but is glad you have people that interest you. The next time you talk, there's an announcement you're daring them. He congratulates you, terribly confused by what happened to your plans.

🏟 It apparently wasn't dead, as you called him a month later to tell him about how you beat all eight gyms. He's so ecstatic that he buys the first ticket to Unova he can. You laugh when he tells you. Admittedly, you're extremely thrilled that he's coming to visit you. You were missing your dad terribly. Ingo and Emmet had even caught you staying the on the line just a bit too long after there was nothing more to say, just to hear his voice. You pick him up at the airport with a tight hug, while he does the same and ruffles your hair. His smile is bright while he asks if you had gotten taller. You about stomp his foot.

🏟 Ingo and Emmet were taken by surprise when a grandpa seems to be sitting in their living room with a lengthy, flat centipede pokemon. He hisses at them as they entered, not liking the seemingly unwelcome intruders. Onyx eyes turn to gaze at them before he nods, “Hello, I am Kabu. I apologise for Centiskorch, he's always been overprotective of them. He's their true father, actually.” You elbowed your dad for the bad joke. Though, the radiator pokemon was your ever dutiful guardian. “Ingo and Emmet, this is my father, Kabu. I don't think I ever told you, but he's a gym leader from Galar,” you corrected because Emmet looked about ready to believe it with how the pokemon hissed at him.

🏟 Kabu found your taste in men interesting. Nothing wrong with dutiful types who are dedicated to their craft, but he was confused as to how they were trainers. Emmet kept pestering your dad about training strategies and then his age. Ingo elbowed him every time he asked that while trying to be the most amicable of the two. Your father laughs at their bond, having faced a few twin trainers in his years. Though, he does have one request. Battle him. Neither twin hesitates.

🏟 People record the odd sight of Kabu and his child going against the Subway Bosses in an open battlefield located within a park. The twins were impressed by the synchrony between you and your father. His team partnering well with yours and his endearing support of you. The battles end with you two as the victors. Emmet is a bit huffy by this, but Ingo claps his hands and yells a deafening “Bravo!! Excellent!” Kabu smiles and nods. Yeah, now he understood them perfectly. He already trusted you, but now he could say for certain that you had good boyfriends.

🏟 Your boyfriends admit your dad is cool, in a geeky way. His competency as a trainer is unmistakable, and his love for you as a father was sweet. They watched as you waved him off at the station, yelling something in a foreign language. They turn to you in confusion as Kabu responds perfectly to you. You blush. Oh, you forgot to tell them that your dad is from Hoenn. You giggle and want to show off your Numel then.

☂️Laventon🥼

🟣 Your father wasn't necessarily the most amazing father, a bit tied up in his research before running off to Hisui with Team Galaxy. He cared dearly for you, and it was apparent how he valued your opinion, constantly asking what you thought of his research. You thought the world of him, however. His passion for research, and his love for pokemon. To be related to him felt special. That's why you made a request to visit him. It got approved, too. You got off the small ship, standing out like a sore thumb in your Galarian clothing versus the Johtonian and Kantonian clothing of your peers.

🟣 He greeted you with a big hug and three baby pokemon. You giggled at him as he immediately wanted to introduce you to some of the galaxy members, especially Cyllene since they are quite close colleagues. It was all so pleasant, even if she was a bit frigid. You were invited along for fieldwork with your father.

🟣 The Highlands were strikingly beautiful as you watched the Yanma swarm about. Despite the warnings to stay around camp, you found yourself too curious to stay put. Wandering off, you observed the wild pokemon with a gleeful demeanor. Until you were spotted by an Alpha Golem. It roared loudly and rolled toward you. You screamed and readied yourself for the worst. The expected pain never came. You peeked open your eyes and spotted blues vines restrained the rock type. A hand took yours and quickly pulled you away from the danger. You stared at your saviour with starry eyes, he was beautiful.

🟣 Warden Ingo was someone you refused to stay away from, even with the light scolding from your father and the harsh one from Cyllene. You still tagged along with the Highlands to spend time with the Warden. He was such a strange personality, coming through the ominous portal in the sky. Memories scrambled, and bits and pieces barely recalled. Laventon didn't miss the way you spoke of Ingo. He scratched his cheek before shaking his head. Ah, if he made you happy, Laventon was happy then.

🟣 After it was apparent that you had begun a relationship with the Warden. He finally decided to sit him down and speak with him. Perhaps it was rude to ask him to adhere to Galarian courting rituals, but he felt it wrong to see you courted so oddly. Ingo agreed, but asked for an explanation as to how. Laventon chatted for hours in Galarian with the Warden.

🟣 Laventon is glad you found love and supports it entirely. Ingo was a reliable sort and a strong trainer that could keep you safe from harm in these wild lands. Though, he is a bit sad when you start spending more time with Ingo than him. It's amended when you announce your intentions to move to Hisui. Sadly, not into Jublife, but, rather, into the Pearl Clan, more specifically into Ingo's cabin. You still often visit enough and help him with his research (especially so since you've learnt how to train pokemon from the Warden).

He does worry about what will happen should Ingo be returned from whence he came, however.

001 BLOG CANON TIMELINE .

IN current blog canon , augustine is 38 years old ; this is a few years after postgame xy. in blog canon, as i currently have no lysandre to discuss this with - lysandre is either in hiding &&. presumed dead or has recently come back into sycamore’s life.

CHILDHOOD ( 0 - 11 )

augustine was born into an incredibly standard middle class family in rural kalos ; camphrier town . i base the appearance of camphrier off of the anime mostly because it actually looks like someone could live there in contrast to the rather simple version the games provide. his parents were rather old to bear a child, but he was their special little boy &&. he grew up an only child to a single mother as well as living with his grandparents for weeks at a time in shalour city. while staying with his grandparents in shalour city he discovered his passion for mega evolution &&. much later on inherited a garchompite from them after their passing while he was in university. as a child , much like any other child in kalos, he was determined to set out on an adventure and become a master of mega evolution-

ADVENTURE ( 12 - 14 )

on his twelfth birthday he was allowed to set out on an adventure. his parents made sure to give him everything he needed , &&. packed him all sorts of supplies . his partner pokemon was an eevee that he had since a young boy. very quickly into his adventure, as his eevee gained experience, suddenly evolved into a sylveon. soon, his team grew ( consisting of sylveon / gogoat / ageislash / charizard / blastoise / venusaur ) &&. he ultimately made it to the sixth gym before finding his calling elsewhere.

SINNOH ( 14 - 18 )

his adventure was interrupted when he was invited for a mentorship underneath the esteemed professor rowan. he spent most of his teenage years studying &&. researching with the professor, &&. his interest in studying mega evolution only grew stronger, with some mega evolution studies on the side of whatever rowan wanted him to work on. he also studied fairy type localization &&. why fairy types were not present in sinnoh pokemon but were present in kalosian , alolan , &&. galarian pokemon. his team stayed relatively consistent , with the exception for gogoat- who he left behind in kalos with his parents. in its stead, as a gift for graduating from his mentorship with rowan, he obtained a gibble.

UNIVERSITY ( 18-26 )

not much changes, but he studied in sinnoh for his undergraduate &&. took a semester abroad in hoenn to study mega evolution and primordial forms. in his graduate school he studied in kalos &&. interned at the lab in lumiose, where he initially met lysandre. after graduating from graduate school, he took two years to intern &&. residence with professor rowan once more, &&. due to an absence of a kalosian professor, was eventually offered the position by rowan speaking on behalf of the community of pokemon professors.

PRE XY ( 26 - 30 )

augustine studies mega evolution as well as fairy types in his lab in lumiose. he also studies other topics, commonly assisting other professors in their own research; especially rowan. he gives out pokemon to children wanting to start their own journey, &&. a select few even aid him in his own research by filling out the pokedex. as a professor in the public eye, he appears as a charming, charismatic, confident, but yet a little aloof &&. clumsy figure. he is poor in communicating, &&. most likely oblivious to any romantic endeavors.

XY ( 31 - 33 )

augustine gives four children pokemon &&. their own pokedexes, expecting them to embark on their own adventures in the way that he did. adventures typically last over the span of several years, due to the training required as well as the mental &&. physical toll traveling across the region takes on a trainer &&. their pokemon. as time progresses , lysandre begins to speak negatively about the world - which sycamore ultimately brushed off as lysandre just being a passionate man with a vision for how the world ought to be or commentary on how the world is. eventually, he brings forth his plans for genocide under the mask of his corporation as well as team flare, which entirely blindside augustine who hadn’t the slightest idea that his dearest friend would ever do such a terrible thing. unable to stop him due to long since falling out of practice of battling as well as never being very skilled as a trainer, he must rely on the children he enlisted on a journey. ultimately, lysandre’s plans fail &&. he is presumed dead.

POST XY ( 33 + )

augustine has a hard time living with himself after the events that transpired. he feels wholly responsible for lysandre's actions as well as throwing a group of children into the fray. while he is much still the same man he once was, he frequently becomes lethargic &&. aloof, rarely eating &&. picking up bad habits or behaviors. he still continues his research, &&. takes care of lysandre’s pokemon as well as his own.

This is the about! I did promise that I would make Augustine’s about in a post so people would be able to access it. So, here it is! I will post it on my sidebar later so I can let people access the post when needing to.

Growing up as an only child, Augustine Sycamore was always curious about what it was like to spend time with others at home. Not able to obtain a Pokemon companion, Augustine spent most of his days retreating to local Pokemon battles and the Champion battles at the Lumiose Conference. Every battle intrigued him, but not for the reason most kids had. After seeing the Champion use their Key Stone to trigger their Pokemon's Mega Stone, it blew Augustine's mind. Wow! That was awesome! He wondered what it could do, what its purpose was, and why it was such an amazing phenomenon that not many people were too well-versed on. Nonetheless, Augustine was intrigued and dedicated his studies towards obtaining more information about Mega Evolution. Augustine wanted to understand the relationship between the trainer and the Pokemon, and how it affected Mega Evolution. He wanted to understand why the Pokemon changed in appearance and typing, and why it was so rich in power yet so unstudied. This is what Augustine decided to dedicate his life to.

Working towards his dream of wanting to study Mega Evolution, Augustine’s next goal was to become the Kalos Region Pokemon Professor. Understanding that it took a lot to become a Professor, Augustine dedicated time to study at the Tower of Mastery, where Mega Evolution is closely studied. With his newfound partner Charmander, Augustine also trained there in Pokemon battles -- failing to succeed in triggering the Key Stone and Mega Stone to work together. Augustine did not spend long here, however, as when he entered, doubt got to the best of him. Resulting him to leave early and halt his research.

Here, Augustine believed he did not have what it took. Everyone was so much better than he was, and he just wasn’t grasping everything right away. Was he... not passionate enough? Was he too stupid for this? These questions berated him everyday, dragging him down. While he appreciated the time he spent and learned a lot, Augustine’s confidence did not agree. Augustine after this, fell into a short depression regarding his ability to become a Professor of Mega Evolution.

In this short depressive state, Augustine spent time back at his parents’ house. The man who took the time to clean himself up and groom his hair to look amazing no longer cared about his looks. Staring at his research books and pondering what he should do. What was he to do now? What field could he thrive on that wasn’t Mega Evolution? Multiple questions probed Augustine, and he couldn’t think of anything alone. So, he turned to his Mother, asking these questions for her support. Listening to her, Augustine will always hold her words close. After all, it was her who muttered the words “Go and meet many Pokémon and people, and fill your life with rich experiences!" A phrase he uses to this day.

Before Augustine departs on his adventure of his life time, it’s at this moment that Augustine thinks to himself;. Can he do this? What will his future involve? Who will he be? Will he be any different? These questions hung over his head. Augustine takes a walk to the train station, thinking deeply. He has to go through with it. He has to. It’s what he’s worked so hard for. Studying under Professor Rowan is a dream come true. He’s heard many stories -- and he wants to be one of those stories. It’s then that Augustine decides to write a message to himself. A reminder to himself.

"To the person reading this: What are you like now? Did you become who you wanted to be? For starters, what was the person you wanted to become even like? I don't know, but it would be wonderful if you can boast that you're living each day to the fullest. To future Sycamore. From the Sycamore dreaming of the future."

Saying farewell to his parents in Couriway Town, Augustine set off to the Sinnoh region, where he partook in studying under Professor Rowan. There, Augustine learned the relationship between Pokemon and Trainer; more specifically Pokemon Evolution. Spending a couple years in the Sinnoh region learning all he can, it’s then that Augustine ventures to the Kanto region, getting the opportunity to study under Professor Oak for a short period of time. Although short, Augustine took everything Oak told him and kept it close -- writing it down and keeping it close.

Returning to Kalos four years after his time traveling, it’s here that Augustine is ready. He’s no longer a trainer, and he’s no longer studying -- he wants to be the Professor, and he’s ready. Taking the opportunity to scoop up the position, it is a rough start. Not sure on what to do and not sure on what Pokemon to hand out, Augustine gets the idea to hand out three specific starters -- just as Oak had shown him when he had given Augustine Charmander, Squirtle and Bulbasaur to take home and have roam in his new lab. Froakie, Fennekin and Chespin become the three Pokemon he chooses. Excited to start his first day as the regions Professor, Augustine knows that he will do everything he can to make his future students’ travels as easy as he can make them.

As the Pokemon Professor, it’s there that Augustine meets Lysandre. Persuaded into believing Lysandre is a wonderful man, Augustine trusts him. Funded by Lysandre in exchange for research notes on Mega Evolution, they spend a lot of time together. Helping each other in their dreams. It’s at this moment in Augustine’s life that he does not understand what Lysandre is capable of, and it haunts him to this day. If there was something he could have done to stop Lysandre, he would have. But the past is the past -- and he should have spoken up when the time came. If he had known that a dear friend and research partner was capable of genocide, Augustine would have acted faster to protect the people of Kalos. This event caused Augustine to fall into a cloud of doubt. Losing a dear friend isn’t easy -- especially when you’re blind to their true objections.
