Heroines of WOCtober: Lunella Lafayette

Lunella Lafayette a.k.a. Moon Girl is a brilliant girl from Yancy Street (in Marvel Universe best known for where Fantastic Four’s Ben Grimm grew up in). One day she witnessed opening of a portal to another world where dinosaurs never died and the human race never evolved. From it came a mighty red T. Rex know as Devil Dinosaur and the two become friends. With time Lunella has discovered both that she has in herself DNA of an Inhuman - superpowered people created by experiments of alien Kree who activate their powers by exposure to mythical Terrigen Mists - and that she isn’t just a genius, but in fact the new smartest person on Earth.

Buckle up kiddos because Admin is gonna talk about sad stuff.

Fricken, “Don’t speak” By No Doubt is the best Taiyang-Summer song,

I mean seriously the beginning is just like, perfectly fitted to them, lemme explain

“You and me, we used to be together, everyday together always” They were teammates who eventually fell weirdly in love “I really feel, that I’m losing my best friend, I can’t believe this could be the end.” adjksfdalhfdjkjasdfi, Summer was dying and Taiyang is crushed “It looks as though you’re letting go, and if it’s real well I don’t want to know.” Almost everyone in the FNDM that I’ve spoken to likes to think Summer was nearing death anyways and then sacrificed herself for the greater good, which fits into the ‘looks as though you’re letting go’ and the ‘if it’s real I don’t wanna know’ is just Taiyang not wanting to accept that the love of his life is going to be gone forever

Then the chorus itself works pretty well too, but we’ll maybe get to that later.

The next set of lines are, “Our memories, they can be inviting, but some are altogether mighty frightening.” Taiyang is looking back through all their time together, the good and bad, with the bad being literally scary as hell bc inconceivable grimm monsters? (As well learning that Summer’s time left is limited) “As we die, both you and I, with my head in my hands I sit and cry.” Summer wasn’t the only one who died, a literal part of Taiyang died with her, he already lost on love with Raven, now Summer gets ripped away from him too

And then there’s this line,

“It’s all ending, we gotta stop pretending who we are.” This could fit so many things, Team STRQ is basically done at this point, Raven’s missing, Qrow (around this time) is probably either missing or so undercover for Ozpin he hasn’t been heard from for years, Summer’s dead, and Taiyang is basically retired from Huntsmen duty with two small children to raise, the dream of Team STRQ is gone. And maybe Taiyang also thought that even though Team STRQ wasn’t together, its members were invincible, I mean they’re the parents/family of the main character, so that’s basically a telling point that they were the cream of the crop when they were in Beacon, they were probably the best of the best. An untouchable team of master hunters. Until Summer died, proving to Taiyang once and for all that Team STRQ is not invincible, and is really just a bunch of kids who got thrown into a crazy world and learned what they needed to survive.

“You and me, I can see us dying, are we?” This just like, deepens my point, Tai is so built up on the idea that STRQ is invincible that he seriously needs to be told that the team can actually die, AS A MEMBER IS DYING. That, AND his relationship with Summer is dying now, since she’s...well...going to die. He’s in horrible denial.

Okay, now the ending of the song (which does have the chorus, we’ll also break it up a bit cause it’s basically lalala and whatnot)

“Don’t speak, I know just what you’re saying, So please stop explaining, Don’t tell me cause it hurts.” He knows deep down that Team STRQ is mortal, and that he can’t do a damn thing to keep Summer from dying, he knows this despite his denial, and once people start really digging into him about it, he breaks.

“Don’t speak, I know just what you’re thinking, And I don’t need your reasons, Don’t tell me cause it hurts.” This is literally Grade-A quality last words, it could literally be the LAST THING word for word he says to Summer before she leaves to go do some crazy Silver-eyed thing that leads to her death. I mean it kills Tai, he knows she has to go do this to save the world, but he just doesn’t want to hear any of it because of how hard it hits. He says this and then his wife, the mother of (basically) both his children, the love of his life, and then she leaves and never comes back

“Hush hush darling, don’t tell me cause it hurts.” Is this just him telling Summer? Or is it... “Daddy, when’s Summer coming back?”

About the "Zote is a Vessel" thing. If Zote is a vessel, why does he have a mouth and can speak, unlike the others? Plus you can read his mind and it actually says something, unlike Vessels and any other void creature such as the Collector

I addressed this in the original theory. The Pale King realized his personality to was so garbage that he could not accept having another vessel with one because otherwise they'd all be exactly like him.

You know what would be funny? If Zote was the Pale King’s kid but he wasn’t a vessel. PK just wanted a kid and was like “this one don’t get yeet.” But then Zote was immediately forgotten the moment Pure Vessel arrived because PV ended up becoming the favorite child, so Zote got thrown by the wayside. And that’s why he’s angry and pissy all the time and obsessed with being good at battle even though he’s ass at it.
