glimpse of a lifetime - abimel fic

“She's kicking,” Mel let out a stunned smile and grabbed Maggie's hand. “Do you want to feel it?”
“I thought you hated people touching your stomach?"
“Random people who treat my stomach like it's a dog they want to pet," Mel said, voice filling with the irritation of one too many strangers on the street baby-talking over her baby-bump, oblivious to their brush with a near-death experience "you're my sister and I'm giving you permission."
Maggie let Mel guide her hand to her pregnant stomach, her curiosity momentarily overcoming the lingering weirdness of her sister’s temporally-displaced pregnancy. For a fraction of a second she felt nothing except the fullness of Mel’s belly, but then -- even as there was the tiny, precious movement of something beneath her touch -- the world whited out, replaced by the familiar sensation of an oncoming vision.
Maggie had time only to gulp in a deep breath of air before she was pulled under its wave.
Mel, dressed in black, dirt and sweat covering her from head to toe as she and someone else hid in an alley. Their face was concealed from sight by a side-sweep of straight, light brown hair and the shadows cast by the wall of the dank alley wall sheltering them. They were throwing a careful look around the corner.
“They’re coming,” the person whispered at a volume so low it wasn't identifiable, despite something familiar raising up a flashing light.
“We can make it,” Mel pleaded.
The other person’s shoulders tightened as they- as she whirled around and pulled Mel toward her into a short, desperate kiss.
Mel let out a torn sob against the lips kissing her own.
“I love you,” the woman said pulling back, finally revealing her face and its uncharacteristically vulnerable expression while keeping one hand on Mel’s cheek and the other over the swell of her stomach “I love you both. You know what you need to do, I’ll lead the Infected away.”
"Abi-"
Maggie‘s eyes snapped open and she was left staring at Mel, feeling her jaw drop as the sensation of the vision drained into the present and she realized exactly what she’d just seen.
“What? Is something wrong? Did you see something?” Mel's brows furrowed in worry, her arms already protectively encircling her middle.
“No!” Maggie threw out with a pitched laugh, swallowing down the hysteria before Mel could notice it “I- I was just startled by the kick. I didn’t see anything.”
Right. Except for the person who was maybe- probably -- it was hard to misinterpret that agony she'd seen on future Mel's face -- the other mother to Mel’s future baby; and who looked suspiciously like the dethroned Demon Overlord whose future version had apparently lied to Maggie and Macy's faces -- just a part of Mel's Resistance her ass -- and had, not that long ago confessed her feelings for Maggie’s sister under the influence of a truth serum.
Oh god, Maggie was going to have to hear herself get called the Prancing Princess for the rest of her life.
---
"Macy?" she asked, feeling near ready to bite her nails -- which would be a crime against the perfect manicure she'd gotten done last week.
"Yeah? What's up?" Macy threw over her shoulder, busy going through pages of graphs containing science Maggie didn't even attempt to identify.
"What would you do if you knew something? Something that someone would probably really want to know, but you're not sure if it would be better to let them find out on their own. Or to not find out about it at all. Except they'd probably find out anyway because if it happened once it will probably happen anyway, even though you kinda find it a little insane. Though maybe not as insane as you would have once. And anyway, it's not like you want them not to know, because they definitely deserve to-"
"Maggie!" Macy interrupted her, her full attention on the conversation now. "Take a breath and tell me what's going on."
"IhadavisionandIthinkAbbyistheotherfuturebabymama." The information exploded from Maggie in one babbled breath of probably incoherent information.
"Sorry, run that by me one more time?"
"I had a vision, Mace. I'm pretty sure Abigael's the one who future Mel was going to have that baby with," she repeated herself, paraphrasing to sound a bit less like a crazy person.
"Oh," Macy blinked. "Well, she definitely left some stuff out when we asked her about Mel."
"Right?! That's what I was thinking. You'd think 'I'm your future sister-in-law' would be relevant information."
"I mean... she probably didn't want to accidentally erase that part of the future," Macy allowed with a slight shrug.
"But Mace, Abby's in London. And I think Mel's still sort of dating Ruby. What am I supposed to do with this information?"
"You had the vision for a reason."
"I know, it's just... it feels like I'd be putting my nose into Mel's personal, romantic business. I haven't really done that since I was like thirteen." Maggie threw herself dramatically into the armchair cushions, groaning into the hands now pressing against her closed eyelids. "And it's Abigael."
"You know she's changed, Mags." There was something nearly defensive in Macy's voice, something that Maggie had noticed had been revived after Abby returned Macy's fire magic. "And anyway, even from London she's been sending Mel whole mountain-loads of stuffed animals, and baby clothes for the past two months."
Neither one of them chose to mention the one time the gifts included a box of lingerie, that had promptly gotten slammed back shut and had made Mel's face turn into a very deep sort of red. Maggie knew they were both thinking about it though.
They shared a slight smirk.
"And she's been calling her like once a week," Maggie finally sighed instead, she'd also seen Mel's face light up whenever Abby's name lit up the screen of her cell. The telling look then always replaced with put-upon exasperation, and compressed amusement during the few times Maggie'd been around to listen to her sister’s half of those phone conversations. But Maggie knew what it looked like when her sister was fighting off feelings.
But this brought them back to how Mel was only sort of dating Ruby by now, and how even that was rapidly shrinking into an oncoming split that Maggie would be surprised to see last past the birth of the baby.
Even more so now.
She and Macy shared a look.
"We could probably have guessed where that's been heading," Macy admitted.
"I mean yeah, but I thought she'd at some point put the Demonic Drama Queen out of her misery and sleep with her, not magic up a daughter with her." Some of the initial hysteria reared up again.
Macy's face filled up with scientific curiosity. "Do you think that's what happened- will happen?"
"What?"
"You think they used magic?"
"Well, not on purpose?" Maggie scrunched up her nose in thought. "Honestly, I've been thinking Mel probably came across some totem from one kind of fertility goddess or another and activated it on accident. Mel's too level-headed to try to get pregnant during a post-apocalyptic hellscape. Also, I don't think there were any convenient clinics open for artificial insemination."
"That's... a good point," Macy said and then looked at Maggie more pointedly. "You know you need to tell Mels what you saw."
Maggie groaned. "I know."
---
"So what did you want to talk to me about, Maggie?" Mel asked her.
"I know who the other mother to your baby is gonna be," Maggie said.
"I knew it," Mel exclaimed, eyes narrowing. "You did have a vision. Why didn't you say anything?"
Maggie opened her mouth. She closed it.
Macy poked her sharply on her side and thus left Maggie no choice except to poke Macy in retaliation, ignoring the judgemental stare from Mel, who had clearly been born to give out unimpressed Mom Stares. Mel was going to be a wonderful mother to their niece.
"It's Abigael," she said, finally.
"Excuse me?"
"Abigael."
"Oh," Mel blinked, clearly trying to process, her face flushing and filling up with something Maggie found uncomfortably soft. The expression stayed for a lingering moment to be eclipsed by pained horror. "Oh, no."
"What?" Maggie worried suddenly about the likelihood of Abby having turned evil again somewhere within the past two days, since the last time Mel had needed her sisters' help to drag into the house and up the steps to the nursery one of the mailed gifts sent by the former Demon Overlord, this time the giant stuffed unicorn.
"She's going to be insufferable."
There was a whine in Mel's voice but Maggie didn’t miss the way her sister’s eyes seemed to gain a spark of something that was suspiciously very sappy and joyful.
Yeah, Maggie was going to have to resign herself to a lifetime of Perky Peanuts and Pushy Pistachios as her nicknames.

How stupid does the Charmed reboot get and do Mel and Abigael get together (just started season 2 and their first scenes together are FIRE p l u s Abigael is canonically queer)?
I don't wanna see spoilers but also don't wanna get invested in a show that gets too absurd (it IS the cw) and a ship that will never happen.
So, please, give me the necessary spoilers 😆

No offense to the Abigael Caine x Mel Vera shippers who are convinced their ship was endgame despite the Charmed reboot being done and cancelled for over a year now + Mel’s canon endgame love interest being the owner of The Blue Camilla, but:
Abby is, canonically, not Mel’s type.
Canonically, Mel has repeatedly been romantically/sexually attracted to non-white women: Niko (Japanese), Ruby (Black), Roxie (actress is of mixed heritage), Jada (Black), Kat (actress is Malayaisan-American).
Abigael also started the demon-witch war in the first half of season 2, schemed and manipulated her way into becoming Demon Overlord, outright was proud of demons killing witches on her orders, and repeatedly treated Mel and her sisters like shit whenever she was onscreen. (And then came running to them for help when the demands of being the Overlord were too much for her to handle, lol, nah.) Why the hell would Mel, canonically speaking, even want to be in a romantic / sexual relationship with her?
Abigael showed zero remorse for her actions in Season 2. She also lorded her magical knowledge over the Charmed Ones, and the sisters were written like total dumbasses in order to make Abby look better and smarter.
There’s also the scene where Abigael stole Macy’s pyrokinesis by making Macy (an Afro-Latina witch) kneel before her, a white English witch. Apparently for no reason other than shits and giggles.
Personally, I never liked Abigael as a character. I hate overly smug characters who run circles around the main characters, especially when the mains are turned into absolute dumbasses to make this character look smarter and better than they really are.
I don’t like Abigael for the same reasons I hated River Song from Doctor Who and Bela Talbot from Supernatural. They’re all cut from the same cloth.
It really felt like the season 2 & 3 writers wanted so badly to make the show about Abigael and disliked their supposed main characters. As for all the Abimel shippers going on about their chemistry and how the ship should have been endgame … 1) I don’t see it; 2) I’ve been through this before with Sterek and Destiel shippers and oh my gods did those obnoxious shippers make me hate both their respective ships.

Beautiful madness.
1.
Waverly left the Vera-Vaughn-Greenwood manor moments later, promising Abby to reach out as soon as her daughter was in safety and that she gathered some more information on the artifact Abigael was looking for.
It let an odd feeling in the Demon Overlord mind, like a blur she couldn’t quite figured out. After a lifetime of loneliness, hatred and resentment, here she was, making plan with her long lost sister to burglarize the only antique allowing her to restore Macy’s fire power. A step closer to her long journey to redemption.
Will she even get there someday?
Lost in her own torturous thoughts, the British Lady didn’t hear the witch that changed her whole perspective, talking to her.
“Abby?” Mel repeated, a concerned frown marking her face.
No answer. So the witch held out her hand and took one of Abigael’s in her own trying again “Abby, are you okay?”
It worked. The Demon Overlord seemed to get out of her hypnotic state, looking at their joined hands. Eyes fascinated; like it was the most precious thing in the world. Suddenly something must have clicked in her because in a movement of panic she brutally let go of Mel’s hand and took two steps back.
“Have this unannounced pregnancy made you lost your mind as well as your memory? What about theallergy, Mel?” Abby asked in an irritated tone but the concern was crystal clear for the Vera sister.
Mel voice was soft when she simply replied “Shush it, demon spawn!”.She then closed the distance between them and took both of Abigael’s hands in hers. “See? Baby and I are good! Don’t worry.” Her smile grew some more at Abby’s awe.
“But- How?” it was so quiet that Mel almost missed it.
“I’m not really sure, but it must be the baby.”
Abigael said nothing. Eyes glued to their hands as their fingers intertwined. They stayed silent for some times. Abby didn’t dare to move an inch, a bit scared that the moment might end. For her part, Mel attentively observed The Demon Overlord’s expression the entire time. She would be lying if she said that nothing in her was liking the way Abby was looking so adoringly at their joined hands. But then, their eyes locked and Abigael had that same look on her face than the one she had when Mel asked her if she was doing this just to make amends with Macy. They were telling more than what Abby was actually able or willing to say. In that instant, everything around them ceased to exist. They were so close that Mel’s round belly touched the half-demon half-witch front. Abby wouldn’t do anything unless she was certain of Mel’s consent and for now she wouldn’t ask…
Minutes passed by and still, they were looking at each, like it was the first time they actually saw one another. Without fuss. Without judgment. Mel’s heartbeat went crazy, she couldn’t clearly figured out what it was that made her breathless, but she let herself be lost in those hazel eyes that she learned to appreciate more than she should have.
Stuck, neither of the two women knew how to act around each other in this private moment, so Abby decided to crack a snarky remark to ease whatever was going on.
“Careful there Potion Princess, one might think that you want to steal a kiss from The Demon Overlord!” Abigael said on that tone that drove Mel mad. So she rolled her eyes in exasperation, but kept her hands firmly in the British Lady ones. Then a smirk appeared on her lips when she just retorted to that flirty comment with a sultry tone.
“What if it’s exactly what I want to do?”
She then started to caress Abby’s knuckles softly while The Demon Overlord lost her voice once again. She just kept those eyes on Mel’s, more piercing than ever. And Mel finally get what Abigael meant by “I care deeply about her” when the truth serum kicked in at her trial… Just like that, her heart stopped beating at the realization. Abigael didn’t care about her in a weird frenemy way. No. It was deeper. She cared about her in a romantic way. Everything kind of fell in place. “Our child”resonated in her head. How could she missed it? The change in the woman behavior before her, how she just stopped having one night stands and orgy with Susans. Yes, plural. How didn’t she saw it sooner? How her relationship with Abigael Jameson-Caine had grown and how close they had become.
After all, a few hours back, she confessed to the woman how scared of failing her baby she was. And in all of her softness Abigael find the right words to wipe away her doubts. She didn’t laugh, didn’t used this knowledge to make a sarcastic comment. She just comforted her.
And now Mel’s mind went crazy. Loaded with questions she didn’t wanted to acknowledge till now. What did she felt for the half-witch half-demon herself?
She cared about her, a lot. A lot more than she thought she actually did. But Ruby. Mel loved Ruby. They had been through so much and still, they were together. Stronger than ever. That was what the witch was thinking. What she was feeling. And yet, she couldn’t stopped herself to wonder who was the baby’s other mother?
Abigael kept her lips sealed at first, but after some times she titled her head slightly to the side a bit worried about Mel’s own thoughts.
“Are you alright Angry Spice?” gently tightening the hands in hers.
Mel took one last look in The Demon Overlord’s eyes and give her a small smile before letting go of her grip on Abigael, who already missed the contact she craved.
“Yeah. I’m a bit tired I guess with, you know, the baby, the demon, meeting your sister.” It wasn’t a lie, she was kind of exhausted of the day, but it wasn’t the entire truth.
“If I had known about your impromptu pregnancy Mel, I would not have come bothering you asking for your assistance when danger was involved. I swear.” The hybrid stated embarrassed.
“I know Abby. As you said at the door earlier, my sisters and I are usually the ones running to you for help. I’m glad you came and trusted me enough to introduce me to your sister and let me help you.” The Latina responded. “And, for what it worth, I’m proud of you Abby.”
“It worth more than you know.” Abigael smiled with her eyes. “I should go and let you rest then. You are, after all, bearing a tiny human in that belly of yours. Thank you again, for you help. I’ll see you Potion Princess”.
The Demon Overlord started phase-shifting when Mel gently wrapped her fingers around Abigael’s left wrist. She blocked her power and waited patiently for Mel to pursue what she had on her mind.
“Thank you for the crib and for those things you said about me having what it takes to be a good mom.” Mel really appreciated this reassurance the hybrid provided her.
“Well, you have nothing to thank me for. It’s all you Melanie.” She winked at the Vera witch and disappeared in a dark smoke.
Mel stayed in the middle of the room, closed her eyes, and let out a breath she didn’t remember holding back.
*****************
That night, Mel hadn’t slept a minute. Sure, when her sisters came home and told her all about The Whispering Evil, her freak out level went high. But if she was being honest with herself (which she usually is) her mind was preoccupied by all the questions she had about a certain brunette. “Ugh! Damn you Abigael Jameson-Caine!” she muffled in her pillow. She decided to go to the kitchen and for a drink, maybe that Valerian tea Waverly highly recommended her.
Then cup in hands, the witch sat on the couch in the living room. The one Abby slept on, when her demonic form tried to get rid of her. Sighing for thinking yet again of The Demon Overlord, the Vera witch took her phone and looked at the time. 3:00 AM. “How fitting!” she exhaled. She quickly taped a text to her girlfriend. Thirty minutes later, Ruby still hadn’t responded. “I guess some have less troubles to find sleep than others” Mel spoke a bit bored. Before she could changed her mind and against her better judgment, the witch decided to text Abigael.
3:33 AM – Potion Princess : Are you awake?
A minute later, dots appeared on Mel’s screen indicating that the hybrid was typing.
3:34 AM – Demon Spawn : No. I am actually asleep.
Mel rolled her eyes and cracked a smile at this response.
3:35 AM – Potion Princess : So… How are you able to answer my text if you’re asleep?
3:35 AM – Demon Spawn : My subconscious is especially productive at this time of night.
3:35 AM – Demon Spawn : I had some business to attend actually. Why are you awake?
3:36 AM – Potion Princess : Business? In the middle of the night? I can’t sleep.
3:36 AM – Demon Spawn : The perks of being The Demon Overlord if I may say. Is everything alright? Is our baby keeping you up that late?
The witch scrutinized her screen for a good minute, particularly those two words “our baby”. Again, Mel’s heart just stopped beating in her chest and she felt her cheeks burning. She debated with herself on how to answer properly.
3:38 AM – Potion Princess : Well, you’re the one that claimed the title… So, suck it up and deal with it! ;). Our baby uh? How did you come by this conclusion? But no, it’s not the baby that keeps me from sleeping. I just got a lot on my mind I guess.
Abby’s text was nothing but fast.
3:38 AM – Demon Spawn : You’re so sarcastic at this hour of the night. It’s quite delightful. Is there something you want to talk about? Maybe I can be of some sorts of assistance?
Mel didn’t missed how Abigael just eluded a part of her text.
3:40 AM – Potion Princess : You should go to bed. It’s late and your day was longer than mine apparently...
3:40 AM – Demon Spawn : Nonsense.
And just like that, Abigael appeared in the middle of the Vera-Vaughn-Greenwood living room, wearing a black trousers and a garnet satin shirt with a cleavage that left not much to imagination. Her hair were impeccable (as usual), and she wear those discrete gold hearings. She was still wearing her make-up. Mel glanced at her guest a little too long to go unnoticed by Abigael who just smirked at her when sitting next to the witch.
“So Velma Dinkley, what in that little head of yours prevents you to fall asleep?” Abby asked softly.
Melanie Vera rarely panicked at the thought of talking about feelings. Not with her sisters. Not with Harry. Not with Ruby. Ruby her girlfriend if she hadn’t mentioned it. But now, in front of one Abigael Jameson-Caine, she would gladly take off in a heartbeat. Also, she knew that if she wasn’t having this conversation, she’ll be self-deprived of sleep for the rest of her life. So, here she was…
“You, actually.” She confessed when meeting the half-demon half-witch eyes.
Abigael’s smirk was so infuriating, Mel already knew what was coming for her next.
“Having naughty thoughts about us?” Abby couldn’t bring herself to not take the bait on this one which just made her host rolled her eyes even more exasperatedly.
“Abby! Can you stop please. I’m trying to have a serious conversation here.” the Latina said. Because having this particular talk at almost 4 in the morning was the responsible thing to do. Good job, Mel.
The British Lady took one look into the Vera sister eyes to know that this conversation was important to her. So, she clenched her jaw, and silently promised herself to do her best.
“I apologize. What about me, Potion Princess?” She asked curiously facing the Charmed One.
“We never spoke about what you said during the trial…” Damn it! She completely sucked at starting this topic.
“Oh, you mean when Perky Peanut gave me truth serum against my will and so forced me to answer truthfully at questions I would have rather lied about?” A hint of resentment was obvious in her tone.
Mel put a hand on Abigael’s forearm to soothe her. It seemed to work, because the hybrid closed her eyes for a second before pursuing.
“I imagine you want to have a conversation about what I said about you, isn’t it?” She didn’t dare to look at Mel.
“Yes.” the witch whispered. “Did you meant what you said?”
Abby laughed at that. It wasn’t a full laugh, but still, the Latina hadn’t heard her guest laughed a lot.
“Mel, you do know how truth serum works, right?” The British Lady furrowed her brow in question.
“Yeah I do, but you know what I meant.” Melanie replied as if the question was crystal clear.
“So, what you truly asked was if I still mean it right now?” Really, she guessed her best.
The witch only nodded in approval.
“Well, in all honesty, it is a question that is hard to answer to.” The Demon Overlord observed Mel’s reaction.
“How come?” Mel simply asked, when she could heard the frantic beating of her heart in her chest.
Abigael gave her a small smile, one that would be imperceptible for a stranger.
“I do not know any words that would reflect what you mean to me, Melanie.” Again, the witch heart skipped a beat at the use of her first name. “I do not know when neither do I know how you became such an important part of my life but every chance I get to spend time with you I learn to know why.” She paused to gather her thoughts. “So yes, Melanie Vera, I care deeply about you. More than I ever cared about anyone to this day. Really, I just want you to be healthy, to be happy.” Mel sat still, incapable of breathing, too struck by Abby’s confession, by the vulnerability that she was showing to her. Speechless. “And, don’t be mistaken, I expect nothing from you. I would not dream of it. I know my place and how unworthy I am to ever be a part of your happiness. I woul-”.
The half-demon half-witch was cut off by a pair of lips on her own. Surprised, she closed her eyes and kissed Mel back. It was gentle, like caressing velour for the first time. They were both afraid that the moment was in fact a dream. Then the witch place a final peck on Abby’s lips before retreating.
“Sorry, I didn’t asked for you consent.” Mel whispered.
“For this? You always have it.” Abby replied softly. “Will my answer be of any help?”
“I’m sure it will. Thank you for being honest.” The Vera sister replied, even though she wanted to say more.
“Alright, I leave you to it then. Have a good night, Melanie.” The British Lady focused on Mel’s eyes.
“Goodnight, Abigael. And again, thank you.” The which said just before a cloud of dark smoke made her guest disappeared.
Mel didn’t slept better after that. Her lips haunted by Abby’s and the taste of her tongue against hers.
It’s 8 AM sharp when she got a text from Ruby. And then, a storm was raging within the witch heart.

battle for abimel? i want a power showdown.
BATTLE FIGHT WITH POWER SHUT DOWN HERE WE GO!!
Basically OverWitch + I guess the rest of the charmed ones, face the new demon of the day, the Cancellor, which nullifies any power thrown at them.
They have to really think hard to figure this one out.
But like, mainly gay OverWitch.
“Ugh,” Macy groaned audibly for the fourth time in the past two minutes, “What’s taking her so long!”
“Ok could you tone down the whine today?” Mel replied exasperatingly, “It’s not like Abby lives next door. And she can’t orb like Harry. It takes time to get here.”
“Yeah and by the time she does the DotD will be long gone!” She stated in annoyance.
Maggie rolled her eyes, “I think the demon of the day can wait for a few minutes. I doubt their in a rush for a Appointment at the nail salon.”
The eldest huffed, “Yeah but Abbys just taking forever!”
“You rang?”
Everyone turned to the source of the voice, which oddly, seemed to be nix.
But more understandingly, smoke started to swirl, practically a mini tornado, until it took the form of Mels beloved.
“Abby!” The Latina cheered, running over and giving her girlfriend a hug.
“Hello lovely,” Abigael grinned, before smirking in Macy’s direction, “Now what’s this about me being slow? Shall I remind you how long it took you and Witchbanger to actually bang?”
Macy made a squawk of protest, while Harry looked on in mute surprise.
“Witchbangers new.” He commented, although Mel couldn’t tell if he was annoyed or curious.
Abby gestured towards him with a flourish, then nodded towards Macy, “Well, this pile of nerves is Whitebanger, only fitting we have the other half.”
Harry seemed to nod in numb acceptance, before turning back to the gadget in his hands.
“Now that we’re all here, I introduce, the Cancellor !” He waved his arms dramatically for the reveal, the gadget projecting a hologram of a dark woman in a white suit.
Maggie stared blankly, “the counselor?”
Harry looked a bit miffed, “No, the Cancellor.”
Macy tilted her head, “The chancellor?”
“NO, lovely, the CANCELLOR.”
Mel narrowed her eyes, “Cancer?”
Harry gasped for breath, “-wha- how?? It’s the CAN-CELL-OR.”
Abigael smirked, snickering lightly, “Oh Harold, why didn’t you just say so?”
Everyone offered nods of agreement while Harry sputtered for words.
Macy graciously took this time to step forward.
“As my dear was beginning to, ahem, say?” She broke off to give the sputtering whitelighter a concerned look, “This is apparently, in fact, the Cancellor. They have the power to nullify or ‘Cancel’ any powers used against it.”
“Oh but who needs powers when your in the middle of fighting a bloodthirsty demon!” Abby snarked typically.
Mel would normally scold her for such a comment, but found herself cracking a smile at the humor of it.
Macy looked annoyed, but shrugged it off, “As I was saying, something good to note, the Cancellor takes the form of whatever it nullified last, so it might not look like this. That’s just the last recorded form.”
She gestured to the regal woman in white. To which Abby purred delightfully.
“At least it’s last participant knew how to dress well.”
Mel shot her a glare, giving her a slap to the arm.
“What?!” The Britt squeaked. She just rolled her eyes in response.
“Aww,” Abby cooed, wrapping her arms around Mels smaller frame, “Is someone jealous of a power taking, identity stealing demon of the day?”
The Latina grumbled a bit, embarrassed of the blush that had indeed made its way across her face.
“No.”
“Oh I think you are.” The later whispered, “But don’t worry my love, no matter how amazingly dressed someone is, they cant even manage to come close to your overall beauty.”
Mel blushed again, this time for an entirely different reason. And a bit bashfully, she turned and gave Abby a chaste kiss.
“I hate you.” She stated grumpily.
“Love you too grumpy.”
“Ladies,” everyone turned to harry, who had finally recuperated, holding an Orb, “Will you generously accompany me to fight a fashionable identity stealer?”
“Oh Harold,” Abby sashayed forward dramatically, “I thought you’d never ask!”
Macy growled jealously while Mel shared a secret laugh with Maggie. The two of them had slowly found Abbys wit more humorous then insulting.
Harry threw the orb, the Group proceeding to jump through it into a wide circular stone covered room.
“Where are we?” Maggie questioned, peering around, their seemingly was only one entrance, a small archway carved into the surrounding rock. Leading into another room.
“We’re in the Cancellors Lair, that ark leads to the cancellor.” Harry answered informatively.
Mel was confused, however, “If so, how do people get in?”
“I think I have the answer to that.”
Everyone turned to Macy, who was staring at the ceiling. They followed pursuit, only to find their room was not really a room, but the bottom of a very deep pit.
“What a treacherous trap.” Abby seethed respectively, if possible, “Some loner demon falls down the pit. And if they survive. The Cancellor can steal their powers and harvest their body.”
“No… no that can’t be?” The youngest stated sadly, ever the empath, “Some have to escape. What about the innocent humans who fall?”
“I guess some could escape,” Abigael reasoned blatantly. If they realized where they were before the Cancellor found them. They would have to have some type of powers that could propel them upwards, like smoke phasing. Because no lucky Jim could climb these walls. Their smooth as stone.”
She wasn’t wrong, Mel found herself absentmindedly feeling the slick walls with her hand.
Someone tapped her shoulder, and she turned to see her girlfriend smiling at her bashully, and hand held out.
“Head in the Clouds my love?”
“Yeah,” the Latina grinned, taking the britts hand, “Thanks for always finding me.”
“Oh why of course!” The hybrid proclaimed, “What else is a loving girlfriend supposed to do?”
“Oh you know, fight demons, slay monsters, make out from time to time.” She monologued coyly.
-“while I’d love to hear this agonizing conversation,” Macy interrupted, “We have a demon destroy.”
Both of them rolled their eyes, but gladly shared secret smiles.
The ragtag group of magical beings entered the room. Nearly immersed in pitch darkness.
Mel felt Abby take her hand, and she tried to send soothing vibes, squeezing it to show she understood.
Abigael wasn’t a fan of the dark, it wasn’t cause she was afraid of it specifically, moreover, it reminded her of being locked in the crate. And mentioned it made her feel quite claustrophobic.
A lot of her fears spiraled from the singular subject of her childhood. It didn’t make them any less valid, however.
“Macy.” Mel whispered in the dark, “A light please?”
“Since when are you afraid of- oh.”
Her sister caught on, a tad second too late. But thankfully, mentioned nothing when the room was engulfed in flames. Just sending Mel a understanding nod.
Abby may get on Macy’s nerves, but she truly did care about her overall well-being.
“Oh thank you Lovely, now we can see where the Cancellors coming from.” Harry commented, subtly driving attention away from Abigael.
The Latina still could see the flush on her girlfriends face. And squeezed her hand again. Trying to say it was ok through touch.
Annoyingly, even with Macy’s flame, the room was not very bright. And from what Mel could see, it was another circular room, but with a domed ceiling, and vine-snaked walls.
Everyone sorta teetered around, peering closely at the cylinder wall, some parts holding ritualistic type carvings underneath the vines.
“How interesting.” Abby mused lightly, tracing a line finger in the indentions.
Mel winced slightly, as the light behind her got abruptly brighter.
“Hey Mace, good job with the light! Didn’t know you were practicing.”
“Mel…” Macy’s voice sounded nervous and halted, “Mel that isn’t me.”
“What do you mean who else would it-“
She cut off, as everyone turned to the center of the room.
Somehow, submerged in the darkness, a middle platform was completely unseen.
But now, from a spotlight coming from nowhere, it was illuminated in a ghostly, nearly theatrical glow.
And on top of that platform, posing dramatically, was the Cancellor.
Maggie scrunched her nose, “Wait… is that-“
-“LIL NAS X?!?” Mel exclaimed abnormally loud.
Her brain was completely shot. How could this be possible. This shouldn’t be. It couldn’t be.
But yet, it was, no one else rocked Red dreads, tiny black & white boxers, and thigh high leather boots then the number 1 black gay pop artist.
Macy looked thoroughly confused, “Who..? And are you sure that’s him?”
“I thought he looked familiar.” Maggie mumbled to herself.
Harry’s eyes were bugging out of his head, caught between staring and trying to give the Cancellor some privacy. The bulge in his CK boxers leaving nothing to imagination.
“No that’s definitely him,” Abby purred, practically hypnotized, “No one wears those raunchy underwear but him.”
Mel blushed jealously, “He’s gay Abby. As in into penis.”
Abigael jerked her head, trance broken as she gazed at her pouting girlfriend.
“Aww,” she cooed once again, leaning in close, “Is someone jealous of a LilNausex clone?”
The lesbian flushed, hating how adorable Abbys mispronunciation of his name sounded in her accent.
“It’s Lil Nas X.” She stated huffily.
Abby frowned, just a tad, “Oh come on Lovely.”
“Don’t lovely me!” Mel denied stubbornly.
It was a bit childish, yes, but right now the Demon straddling a chair from literally nowhere was undeniably hot for the Men lovers in the room. And she was green with envy.
“Oh you should know by now,” Abby whispered, her tone seductive and lovely, “Your the only one I want to see in those flamboyant boxers.”
Mel hated how much she was turned on right now.
“Also,” her girlfriends voice was now soft, “No matter how much I may ogle or tease, you really are my one and only love.”
Ok, now she could love her again.
“I hate you.”
“Love you too.”
“Not to break up this repetitive conversation,” Macy once again interrupted, “But how is ‘Lil Nas X’ in the room?”
“Yeah,” Harry piped up finally, “He’s human. And it’s not like he’s killed and stolen the crown, and powers of some random leader.”
“OH MY GOD.” Mel screeched, going straight back to mortified.
“I THOUGHT THAT WAS JUST IN THE VIDEO!?”
Everyone turned to her for an explanation, while she blushed from the heavy gaze, and sexual nature of the rationale.
“I-In his recent music video,” she whispered meekly, “he kills satan and steals his power.”
Her blushed increased dramatically at the implication.
“Not that I’ve watched it or something.”
“Don’t worry darling,” Abby whispered with a devilish attitude, “I’ve watched it plenty enough for the both of us.”
“Basically he stripper poles his way down to hell, does a Lap dance for Satan himself, and then proceeds to kill him in the middle of the throws of it. Ergo stealing his crown. And then his powers. We avid fans all assumed it was apart of gay pride and acceptance and sticking it to the homophobes. Turns out it’s that, and becoming all powerful.”
True to their personality. Mel loves what Abby says, Maggie nods appreciatively and nonchalantly, while Macy and Harry look seconds away from dying of pure awkwardness.
“Um, why isn’t he saying anything?” Maggie points out. The sexy demon staring at them all unblinkingly, thoroughly creeping them out.
“Maybe the voices doesn’t carry when he takes the form?” Macy suggests, “So he tries to hide it by not talking? False sense of security?”
Lil N’as Cloné then opened his mouth, revealing a large jagged set of teeth, jaw unhinging slightly.
“Or!” Maggie says with a state of panic, “He was just waiting to eat us alive!”
The demon crouches low, nearly spider like. Swaying from side to side.
“Ladies! Backs to the wall!” Harry announces, “And make sure to show some type of power, we don’t know how long the transformation takes, so we need to keep track on who still possesses them.”
Mel needs no second affirmation, grabbing Abbys wrist and yanking her back.
“Mel?” She looks outraged, “We need to fight it!”
“Yeah we’ll I can’t fight it if your powers are stolen and need someone to protect you!”
Abigael huffs, “I can take care of myself Melanie. See?”
She holds her hand up as if to summon a flame.
Head jerking when none appears.
Her expression changes to one filled with fear and confusion, “Bloody hell??”
Abby continued to unsuccessfully summon a flame, hand whirring to a blur.
“Mel!” She exclaimed in a frenzy, “Mel, it’s not working, why isn’t it working? To hell with this!”
“Hey! Hey,” the Latina soothed, rushing to place a hand on her arm in a calming motion, “Carino it’s ok. Don’t panic. The lil n’as dude just took your powers assumingly.”
“Are you sure?!?”
It seemed kinda like a controversial question to ask; considering she couldn’t activate her fire powers, but Mel understood it was from fear rather then logic.
“Well, try to smoke phase.”
Abby nodded tentatively. Raising her hands once again.
The very tips of her fingers produced ashy whisps, but aside from that, their was nothing.
“Your smoking.” Maggie unhelpfully stated, as she edged towards them.
“Why thank you Captain obvious!” Abby snarked bitterly.
The brunette looked concerned, glancing at the Latina instead, “Mel, what’s wrong?”
Abby was outraged, “Mel?! I am RIGHT HERE y’a know, if your just gonna stand their like a blathering idiot you might as well-“
-“She’s been cancelled,” Mel interrupted blatantly, witch just a tad of irritation at her raving girlfriend, “Her powers aren’t working and she’s lashing out.”
Maggie shrugged, “Naturally.”
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN NATURALLY?! I have a RIGHT to be upset I-“
-“So you sure their fully gone?” Her sister continued, “I never saw the Cancellor do anything? And he still looks like Lil N’as!”
Mel turned back to the center, brows furrowing at the now empty stage.
“Where’d he go?”
The dead silence, and lack of demon, filled the room with an eerie unsettling vibe.
“Mel, I don’t like this.” The empath warned.
She didn’t either.
“MACY!” The Latina called out, “WHERED HE GO?”
Macy looked just as panicked, probably even more, “I DONT KNOW! HE WAS JUST HERE?!”
“Oh for gods sake! We should rejoice for all I care! I’m the one with my powers gone and if you would STOP bloody ignoring me id-“
Mel whirled around, placing one finger in front of Abbys lips, the other hand firmly around her waist.
“Abby. I love you. I know your freaking out right now. But please, can you refrain from ranting till we leave?”
Abbys eyes were both murderous and loving, and softly, Mel kissed her until it changed to a lightly irritated.
“Better?” She puffed quietly.
The Britt nodded silently, blushing lightly at the affection showed.
Mel scrunched her eyebrows, briefly seeing the abrupt look of horror sweep it’s way across her girlfriends face.
“What’s wr-“
-“MEL LOOK OUT!”
Abby had shoved her aside roughly, the witch groaning as she hit the ground, but enough adrenaline rushing through to allow her to roll to her elbows.
She glanced up, Just in time to see a dark shadow drag Abigail to the the darkest parts of the room.
“ABBY!” She screamed, arm outreached and terror in her eyes.
“MACY!” Mel barked, “MORE LIGHT.”
Her sister didn’t have to be told twice, “ON IT!”
Immediately, the softly glow from Macy’s flame turned into a raging fire, illuminating all that it could without burning something.
Dead silence followed.
Maggie gasped, “Oh no.”
Standing before them, with the shadows gone and dust settled, was two identical Abigael Jameson-Caines. Each with matching clothes and injuries.
“By all things science.” Macy blanched.
“The Cancellor has taken Abbys form!” Harry informed quickly, “Ready yourself for an attack from either one.”
Mel rose to her feet on shaky limbs, reading an icicle from the air particles around her.
“Alright,” her voice was steady, although she wasn’t calm in the slightest, “One of you is the hot pain in my ass who I love dearly. And the other is a cannibalistic identity stealer. So. Who’s who.”
Immediately both of them rushed to ensure her trust, voices perfectly identical.
“I’m the real Abby!” The one on the right said.
“No!” Lefty said, “Don’t listen to them I’m the real Abby!”
[Authors note - Right side Abby will be in bold.
Left side Abby is in Italics.]
“Their perfectly identical,” Macy stressed, “How are we gonna tell them apart?!”
“Their must be a logical way to solve this.” Harry muttered under his breath.
“Come on guys, really?” Maggie shot them a glare, Mel seemed to catch on, “It’s easy really.”
“We quiz them.”
After a quick group huddle, and their bearings regain, they were ready to give a life or death quiz.
“Alright Abby clones,” Maggie narrated, “We’ve each prepared a question, something only the real Abby should know. Based on your answers, we will decide if your truthful or not.”
“Great just don’t dose me with truth serum while your at it.” Both Abbys snarked in complete unison, before shooting matching scowls at the other.
Maggie looked drastically discouraged but the display, voice wavering.
“U-uh, um, y-yes. Questions. H-Harry your up.”
The man walked up a few feet, nervously wiping his palms against his button up.
“Alright, ladies,” he gave his habitual gentlemen nod to the two of them, “When one of you invited me over for dinner, what was the main course?”
“Duck!” Righty said immediately. Grinning proudly.
“Hey! That one was too easy!” Lefty argued, “Duck is the best meat for a date! Everyone knows that! Not to mention I gave Harold a massage beforehand.”
“Of course it’s the best! What else would you eat, bloody chicken like an uncultured heathen?!”
Righty paused to glance at Harry, “Uh, I get the point for that one right?”
Harry looked overwhelmed, panic evident on his face.
“Uh, um. Undecided!” He then quickly scampered to the back of the pack, face flushed while doing so.
“Completely identical.” The Whitelighter whispered to no one.
Macy shrugged, “Guess I’m up.”
She approached the twins glancing at either with an impassive face.
“Let’s see, what’s Abbys favorite nickname for me?”
“Whitebanger.” The two answer in synchronized perfection. Shooting yet another glare at each other.
Macy looked tired, pinching the bridge of her nose, “Of course that one was too easy. Any Abby could apparently answer that in her sleep. Let me think of a harder question.”
It wasn’t long before her poker face soon returned. Leveling them up once again.
“When You fake poisoned yourself, what was that one question that was actually subserviently a dig on me?”
“To spoon!” Left jolted, “I asked you to spoon!”
“Actually! I asked her if she was the big spoon or little spoon.”
“Well excuse me for messing up one tiny detail! At least I got the spoon part before you!” Left rolled her eyesz
“Well mine was actually accurate, so yours doesn’t count!”
“Yeah it does!”
“Does not!” Right argued.
“ENOUGH!”
Macy had both hands out, face strained, “You two need to stop arguing so I can think!”
The clones shut up, as she stormed back towards the group, shaking her head.
“They share a freaking mind.” The eldest stated bitterly.
A few minutes passed as they waited for Maggie to step up. Who looked severely intimidated by the task at hand.
Mel coughed, “Maggie it’s-“
“I KNOW!” The Latina shrieked, “GIVE ME A SECOND!”
“Okayyy!”
The youngest took a couple very hesitant feet forward.
“Hello!” She waved awkwardly, “I’m Maggie -wait ugh, Abby already knows that of course! Gosh stop talking to yourself and think of a damn question!”
She bit her lip nervously, looking at them with a fearful expression.
“Ok, um. Let’s see. What’s some things Abby likes to do?”
“Oh that’s easy, Alcohol, Mel, making Macymorts life miserable!” Righty laughed to herself.
Mel ignored the fierce blush that rose to her face at the implication.
“But that’s easy,” Lefty sneered meanly, “I like to do many things, all which someone could easily guess.”
“Pray tell, tell me how you could ‘guess’ I like those things?”
“Well I-“
-“Ok!” Maggie squeaked, “Another question then!”
She then proceeded to flounder for a few moments. Hands waving rapidly in anxiety.
“Um, ok then. Who’d you save my life from?”
“My brother.”
“My half-brother, Parker.”
The answers seemed to be the same, yet lefty seemed to be happy with how specific she was.
Maggie, however, had paused. Eyes narrowed at the two, caught in a thought.
“Maggie?” Mel whispered, “What did you see?”
The Brunette jolted, plastering a fake smile on her face, “Oh nothing! Just a trick of the light!”
Mel grabbed her arm once she returned closer to the group, “Pfft, trick of the light my ass, you saw something? What was it?”
“I honestly don’t know,” her eyebrows were furrowed in concentration, “It was something about how they said it. They said the some thing, yet one sounded right, and the other wrong?”
“But how is that possible?” Macy interject lowly, ever the logical person.
“I don’t know!” Maggie whined, arms flailing, “It just was!”
“We’ll don’t stress,” Mel soothed, “We definitely have something by now from other questions.”
“We definitely, do not, have something from any of these questions.” Harry muttered a few minutes later in a group huddle.
“Maggie,” he glanced at the youngest, “Were you able to get anything, you know, empath wise?”
Her gaze snapped to his, a bit of fire in her pupils, “Don’t you think I would have said something if I did?! It’s hard enough that their identical, but their emotions are too! The Cancellor apparently has the ability to copy someone completely! They know everything about the other, because they know it themselves!”
Mel gasped, realization hitting her in a flash, “Oh my god Mags, that’s it!”
Maggie looked confused, as did the rest of them, “What’s it? What did I say?”
“I can’t be something Abby already knows,” she explained carefully, in a deep whisper, “If it’s something she already knows, the Cancellor can immediately pick up on it. He has a copy of all her memories! It’s gotta be something she doesn’t know, or, Moreover, something we know that can get a honest reaction she doesn’t know she makes.”
“But that’s practically impossible!”
“Don’t say that Macy, it’s not impossible if your the girlfriend of Abigael Jameson-Caine!”
Mel pulled from the group, walking up to the two with a confident swagger.
Both, of course, seemed a bit taken aback by her bold demeanor.
“Ok Siamese freak from hell,” she grinned, cracking her knuckles, “Your in my court now, It’s my turn to ask the questions.”
“One of you is the woman I love, and the fact she’s currently having to take a quiz for her life is sickening, so that stokes the fire of hate I have for whoever is causing this. And once I find out who is it, I promise you will regret ever messing with us, and mi Cariño!”
Mel let her monologue be a distraction, gradually advancing forward as she spoke. Until she was directly in front of them.
“Now, it’s time for your final question.”
She stared them in their chocolate orbs, lingering over the right one. Mel couldn’t understand it, but she felt as if the righty was the true Abby. Even with no proof. Their was just something in her eyes.
“Can you kindly hold you hands like this?”
The Latina then proceeded to hold one hand up, baring the wrist, the other slightly bellow, pressing on a very specific patch of skin.
The two were confused, both tilting their heads to the side slightly, in a way Abby would commonly do when she was thinking.
Mel let her hands drop to her sides, watching like a hawk as the complied. She could feel the groups eyes on her, and was desperately praying that this worked.
A few seconds passed. Nothing happened. Perfectly identical.
Then, it happened. The Abby on the right legs swiftly crumpled.
Mel rushed in, and in one move, caught Abby with one arm. The other, which had been hidden from sight, stabbing the duplicate with a quickly formed air icicle.
The demon gave a feral screech from the weapon embedded in its chest, clawing at it weakly.
The group watched in awe as it switched between numerous forms, one which of was lil n’as, the others it’s countless victims.
“How?” It gasped hoarsely, “I’m completely identical.”
“That’s where your wrong!” Mel smiled proudly, “You see, in a way, you were identical. You knew everything Abby did because you could copy her mind! But what about something she didn’t even know of? Like the fact that from years of being put in shock cuffs consequently damaged the nerve in her right wrist? That when pressed, would cause her to pass out?”
“But how?” It wailed, “She would have known!”
“Except she didn’t!” The Latina cradled the unconscious body gently, kissing Abbys crown lightly, “I only found out by accident. And she didn’t remember a thing about it when waking up. I didn’t want to worry her, so I just stayed quiet. I soon understood why it happened due to her trial. But as a demon who can only copy what the person knows, you wouldn’t have.”
The creature let out a few more pitiful whines before crumpling to ash and dust.
“MEL!” Maggie shrieked in happiness, giving her a gigantic hug, “That was AMAZING! How did you figure it out?!”
“Just by what you said,” she answered honestly,” Their emotions were the same, and physically they were too. But the body is an amazing thing, and it does many things were not even aware of!”
“That is factually correct!” Macy complimented with a smile.
“I suppose this calls for a celebration when we get home, err, when do you think she’ll wake up?” Harry gestured to the peacefully resting girl.
The lesbian grinned softly, “Oh, any moment now. It only knocks her out for a minute or two.”
“Oh!” Maggie perked up, “I just remembered what I noticed about her response!”
Everyone stared with great interest.
The youngest smiled, “Abby called Parker ‘Brother’. Even though he’s only half related, she always adressed him as her brother. I guess the clone thought we wanted more specific.”
“She truly is just that amazing.” Mel noted warmly, lips parting when she felt Abby starting to stir.
The group took this as their key to leave, telling Mel to meet them back in the other room.
She nodded, expression soft when Abigaels eyes fluttered open.
“W-what happened? D-id we do it? Is it gone?”
“Gone Cariño,” Mel cooed, smoothing the stray hairs off her face and stroking her forehead just the way she liked, “All thanks to you my love.”
“Me?” Abigael questioned, “What did I do? All I remember is, ugh, I have a killer headache, I just remember doing some weird hand signs and then darkness?”
“Oh my love, you were yourself! Undeniably, and amazingly yourself. And no Lil N’as, fancy identity stealer could ever imitate you perfectly. For theirs only one of you. And for that, I am greatful.”
“Why?” Abby arched an eyebrow, smiling erotically, “Because I’m too hot to handle?”
Mel scoffed, chuckling despite herself, nearly dropping her girlfriend in the process.
“More like because i can barely tolerate one of your personality!”
The Britt pouted slightly, “Your mean.”
“Oh am I?” She leaned in and kissed her pouty lips, “No but actually? It’s because I’m reminded to never take you for granted. I only get one of you. And it be the worst mistake of my life to waste it.”
Abbys lips turned to a fond smile, “And their you go again, making me feel things and generally be a better happier person.”
“Oh the audacity of myself!” The witch smirked.
“Ugh, I hate you!”
She grinned, “Love you too.”

So, after the post of season 2, I decided to continue with season 3. I wanted to do Until episode 9 cause that’s the strict half but I knew there was along break after episode 10 so I was like let’s do until ten. For the second part, I might do it for every episode separately in some sorte of episode review or whatever, or just wait for the end of the season and do a global season 3 post. We’ll see I guess, I’m an indecisive so I hate taking decisions lmao. Anyway, let’s get to it.
Screen time
Macy : 3h03m10s (10/10)
Mel : 2h47m12s (10/10)
Maggie : 2h40m57s (10/10)
Harry : 2h09m34s (10/10) (+Jimmie 7m37s)
Abigael : 47m40s (5/10)
Jordan : 1h02m24s (9/10)
Again, those numbers are not to the second but scene wise. The only time I would separate the screen time in the scene itself was if the focus was completely on one character (vision + sound) and we know another character is there but we don’t really see them).
As before, here a graph of the screen time per episode for each character.
Tumblr media
*harry and jimmie’s screen time are mixed for the graph but again, Jimmie’s is like 7 minutes.
And here a graph of all the characters screen time by episode so it’s more easily comparable.
Tumblr media
Now, again, the screen time is pretty obvious on the fact the sisters are and stay the focus of the show. But far. Though I’m Ngl, I was really surprised to see Maggie being the last of the three sisters. She had way more screen time in season 2 but idk in season 3 it also felt like she was also a bit ahead. At least of Mel. But I think that’s a question of how they handle the story. I think Maggie is actually the one with the best treatment out of the three sisters, with the more consistent development. So maybe that’s why she feels more present. Because she’s actually getting development. Mel, imo, can’t really say the same. She doesn’t have that much more screen time than Maggie and yet, to me, she feels a lot more less developed. Macy had her story focused around men last seasons. And if this season hasn’t fixed that issue when it comes to Hacy imo, I do feel she gets a bit more personal development. But still, Maggie feels the most developed to me.
Jordan is more present in the story so that’s good. I love him and I hope they can find him a good place in the story as a human because he’s a sweetheart. To be honest however, he could have a bit more screen time Ngl. Same can be said for Abigael. I personally have the feeling that the story she has now wasn’t necessarily planned if I’m being honest, which is why it feels so detached. And obviously she needs to have her story more liked to the main storyline and TCO so her presence can be more natural and cohesive. However when you think about it, half the episode when we’re half way through the season, for a regular/main character, it’s a bit weird. I hope going forward, they’ll fix both these issues. Have her be in more episode and linking her to the main story.
Detailed screen time
As I did last time, here are the tables with their detailed screen time with each other main characters.
* group means 2+ characters of the core six that doesn’t involve all three sisters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
To be honest, these tables brought light on issues we - I think- were already aware of. Mel/Macy for example is basically inexistant. It’s really sad to see them barely share scenes just the two of them. Like Mel and Maggie have really nice scenes together where we can see them talk and bond. Macy has that sometimes with Maggie too. But Mel and Macy ? We barely even know what their relationship is if I’m being honest. Like it feels like Maggie and Mel have each other and they make Macy have Harry. He is her one to go, the one they develop her relationship with the most which, imo opinion, shouldn’t be the case.
It brings me to my next point. I know it’s only half season but TCO purely together isn’t even the biggest screen time anymore. Hacy actually is. Love them or not, that’s not the topic, I think there is the need of a discussion about how they slowly shifted the focus of these two characters toward each other. The pairing isn’t an issue, the way it’s handled kinda is. Because at the end of the day it’s also a disservice to both of them. I know COVID is to be taken into account and that they’re limited in the interaction and that Harry is the most integrated of the three main supportive characters but it is still an issue. Even in the story, Harry is all about his relationship and sometimes forgets his duties. Macy’s first thought is basically Harry. They could have used some of this time to develop further the sisters between themselves. Like Maggie and Mel don’t feel as centred on their romance while Macy definitely feels like it’s the major characteristic of her character right now. Same with Harry.
In a general manner however, they’ve been doing better with the sisters sharing scenes that aren’t all about fighting but there is still some serious work to be done. As said, Mel and Maggie for example have some nice scenes where it’s a bit more domestic. They talk about their actual lives more. Maggie has that a bit with Macy too but it’s mostly Mel/Maggie. While Macy talks to Harry.
When it comes to their personal time, by that I mean without the core six, they have around the same time so that’s good. Tho again, as I said before, they have around the same time but it feels like some character just have better written development.
I’m also glad to see Jordan and Abigael share screen with a bit more characters but also would like to have more mix between the mains. It’s almost odd at this point to see Jordan interact with anyone else than Maggie and Harry. I loved his episode with Macy but it almost felt random because he shared 90% of his time with Maggie. Abby it’s a little bit less the case because I feel like in season 2 she had the opportunity to share scenes with all of them (and I want more cause I love it) but now I would like to see her interact with others more too.
PAIRINGS
Hacy : 53m11s
Joggie : 18m18s
Abimel : 12m37s
Melby : 5m58s
That’s probably one of the things that annoy me the most in the show so bare with me.
Let’s start with the small things. I’m Ngl, I’m a bit confused about Maggie. Jordan is pretty obviously supposed to be her love interest I think we can all agree on that. I don’t know if they’re trying to throw some love triangle drama or fake drama with Antonio but well. In any case, I think they’re just a bit more slow burn. And I do think they’re actually the best written romance in the show since the beginning. Maggie never feels centred around Jordan. And tho Jordan does majorly gravitates around Maggie, he also gets a story and development. And yet their love connexion is obvious. Don’t know why they can’t do that with others.
I think I made my issue with Hacy rather clear. Not the ship itself but the way the show does it. I mean their time is clearly superior to everyone else (and i know it’s because Harry is technically the fourth character in terms of importance and is integrated in the story but still, I think there are still things to be fixed about this) and I think the way the show tend t have these two continuously gravitate around each other first is a disservice and just too much at this point. Like in ten episodes they have had more than the entirety of season 2. I’m pretty sure it means something.
Which leads me to my last point. And the most annoying one. Mel. It’s a whole other level. The show has a serious issue on their hands. Mel is the only sister that isn’t straight. And her relationship are not even remotely treated the same as her sisters. Season 2 was one thing. But season 3 makes it so painfully obvious. And it’s not ok. She has two potential ships. And yet, the screen time of these two combined is barely above Maggie’s with Jordan. And not even half Hacy’s. And that’s a genuine issue. I need the show to start treating their lgbt relationship the same way they do the straights. I’m tired of ghosts. I’m tired of unseen. I’m tired of two dimensional. Of the lack of development. Or the unbalance with her sisters. It’s enough.
Talking about her potentiality, the show definitely has me confused with the whole Abimel/Melby situation. They’re hinting hard on the first one while keeping the second in the background. Which is entirely confusing. And low key a problem too. Because yes I ship Abimel but I do think Melby deserves better. And if the show is just keeping melby while they can develop Abimel then that’s just weird too.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Melby just doesn’t feel like a relationship the show has any interest of putting effort in. Ngl, when Mel said at ClexaCon that the writers didn’t really give them backgrounds or anything, it didn’t sound like freedom, it sounded like they just didn’t care enough to develop it. Sometimes, it almost feels like they just kept it around because of the Abigael backlash, so have a sapphic relationship while they can develop something else on the side. Ruby has a charming actress so she has that working for her, but her character is very superficially developed, they didn’t bother to give her depth and it doesn’t feel like it was meant to last with the whole not wanting to be involved in magic thing. I’m not trying to bash anyone or any ship, but that relationship does feel very superficial in terms of writing. And honestly if they’re just keeping it around while building something else, it’s in itself annoying due to the nature of the relationship. Like at that point it’s not even the bare minimum.
Abimel seems more build up already. They’ve been hinting at it since season 2, poring them all the time. The lines. The tensions the chemistry. The connexion. It genuinely feels like that’s were they were going toward. Because it just makes sense. It also makes sense in terms of pairing. All three sisters have their love interest in the main cast. Enemies to lovers trope. As said, it makes sense. But also who actually knows. Because let’s be honest, the show has an history with not treated sapphics the same way as straights. Which is even more obvious in this first part of the season and looking at the numbers. Again I understand Ruby is not a regular (which reinforce my previous points). But likes. That’s what brings me to say again and again that at this point, the show needs to either actually commit to that relationship and make Ruby an actual part of the show or let it go. Because what we have right now ? Not ok. Because they give us zero energy. And I’m pretty sure that if they wanted to actually do more, they definitely could have. Right now, the show is under a pretty bad light when it comes to lgbt characters and their treatment. It’s a bit ridiculous and it’s just not right.
Anyway, I think this concludes my rant. I’m sorry it’s very, very long and for WHAT 😭 I have too much time on my hands I’m telling you. Anyway, if you read all of that I hope you’re enjoyed but also you probably, too, have too much time.

Come home.
3.
For a second, Abigael stayed still like a marble statue while Mel’s arms took place around her neck and sobs started to make themselves heard. Unsure of how to be a good friend, the hybrid delicately placed her own arms around the Charmed One’s waist. Posing her chin on top of the Latina’s head, she tightened her embrace and spoke with a gentle voice.
“Let it all go, Love.” Closing her eyes and inhaling a scent that she deeply missed during those few months. “It’s okay. You’re safe.”
The British Lady then stroked the witch’s back slowly, up and down, with the tip of her fingers. And Mel cried, cried for minutes, hours maybe. None of the two women were putting their attention on the time passing by. The Vera sister calmed down eventually with the soothing movement of Abby’s hand anchoring her. She took a deep breath and without letting go of Abigael’s neck, she looked into those hazel eyes that haunted her some nights. Most nights, when sleep did came. That damn expression tracing the woman’s gaze. That fucking same expression that always left Mel with the wish to be wholly swallowed. So much words unspoken. But the witch exhausted couldn’t brought herself to have this conversation with the half-demon half-witch, not right now.
Abigael used one of her hand and brought it up to the Latina’s cheek, wiping some tears that kept escaping the witch’s eyes. Mel leaned into her touch but her eyes stayed glued to her guest’s ones.
“I didn’t even say “hi”.” The witch whispered with a smile.
“Good evening, Love.” The woman answered with a small smile of her own and with that accent Mel liked so much.
Mel couldn’t stopped herself and so she put her friend in a new embrace, but this time, she hugged her tighter. Abigael responded to this act of affection with as much will and tenderness. Listening to the beating heart of the hybrid, Mel felt a tiny bit better. In her head and in her heart at list, because her legs? Well, it seemed that her two legs had her own agenda. The witch almost fell but Abby firmly kept a grip on her. She helped the Vera sister to sit back.
“You should rest, Mel. You’re exhausted. Have you eat anything today?” the hybrid asked, worries clear in her tone.
“No.” The Latina simply answered.
“Then rest here. I will go out and buy something for you to eat.”
The half-demon half-witch turned around and was about to leave when fingers gripped at her wrist.
“Wait!” Mel stated. “Can you stay a bit longer? We can grab something to eat on our way home, right?”
Home, what a strange choice of word Abby thought. She never had a home. Not really. What was a home anyway? Was it the same thing for everyone? Or did its definition changed depending on who you were asking? But then Waverly’s voice resonated in her mind “You do love her”. And Abby wondered: what if a home wasn’t a place, what if home and love were just parts of the same coin?
She gazed at Mel, and got down on one knee so the witch didn’t have to look up.
“Allow me to at least bring you something to drink. Tea maybe?” The British Lady asked.
Melanie’s eyes softened even more at that sentence.
“A tea would be great. Thank you.” She smiled at her guest.
“I’ll be back shortly.” Abby said while standing up.
She disappeared in a dark smoke before coming back five minutes later with a cup of tea. The hybrid gave it to the witch. Then, she went to take a stool and placed it in front of Mel. She sat on it and observed the Latina who was sipping her tea.
“So… Why are you here?” The Vera sister questioned quietly.
“Well, because your sister called me and silently asked for assistance regarding your current hunt on demons!” The ex-Demon Overlord said with a little scowl to make a point then it disappeared. “But honestly Melanie, I was worried about you and it was just the perfect excuse to come and do my best to help you in anyway I can… If you want of course.” She continued a little worried about Mel’s reaction.
“I’m sorry Abby…” The witch whispered.
“Why would you be sorry?” Now the hybrid was confused.
“Sorry for not texting you back, for not telling you about what happened. You deserve better than that.” The Latina looked away.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” she kept her tone light with maybe a little bit of… hurt?
“I-, I don’t know Abby. I guess I-…” Mel was looking for the right words, but she wasn’t even sure to know what she wanted to say.
“You do not have to answer if you don’t want to.” The British Lady tried to be supportive of her friend.
“It’s just, I guess that seeing to pictures of you with your niece, reading your texts. I felt your happiness and I didn’t want to bother you with my pain.” She blurted out looking at the concrete floor.
Abigael took one of her hand and placed it between hers, tugging a little, sign for the Charmed One to look at her.
“Look at me, Mel.” That damn tenderness enveloping her voice again. “You will never trouble me with your sorrow. What you gave me... I will never be able to repay you. That happiness you mentioned? I am learning what it means, what if feels like and… Truthfully you are a part of its meaning. So, I want to be here for you, but only if you’ll have me…?”
The witch was speechless hearing this confession from the half-demon half-witch, but then again, it wasn’t the first time Abigael was being honest about what she was feeling for her.
“I’ve missed you…” she simply whispered.
The British Lady kept her mouth shut, knowing her friend had more to say, but the corner of her mouth curled in a smile. Her hands continued to envelop Mel’s one.
“Abby, I feel like I’ve lost a part of myself since she’s gone. And I know it’s stupid because present me is her past. But I can’t stop thinking of the future. What if changing the present will affect her in the future like you know... she won’t even exist…?” Tears started to flow again, and a river of it made its way on the Charmed One’s cheeks.
“Nothing of what you feel is stupid, Mel. You gave birth to your child, present or future, Eva was, is and always will be your daughter. She’s gone, Love, not lost. You said “goodbye”, not “farewell”. You will see her when the time is right. And of course, changing the present will affect her, but not the way you are thinking.” Abby posed. “Mel, you gave her everything she needed, providing her with security and healthiness. Her future will be bright, and if there is any shadow to come on her path? I have no doubt nor worry that you will be there to protect her once again. You have been an incredible mother to her in a past that she won’t remember and you will be, as I said, a fantastic mother in the future.” The hybrid finished her sentence with so much conviction that the Latina couldn’t disagree with her.
They stared at each other once more, and again Abby wiped away the tears that were still on the Vera sister’s cheek. Something in Mel’s heart burnt at the way Abby was acting right now. She thought about the half witch’s lips, about the taste of her tongue, and all she wanted to do was to lean in and kiss her. When she was about to do exactly just that, Abigael cleared her throat.
“Shall I take you home?” the hybrid questioned gently.
Melanie observed Abby’s eyes, then lowered her gazed to her lips, then her eyes again. A little smirk marked the half demon’s lips. Even though all she wanted to do was to erase this smirk from Abigael with her own lips, the Charmed One stood up straight. Her hand preciously locked up between the British Lady’s ones.
“Yes, please.” looking down at Abby, who was searching something in the witch’s eyes.
Abigael raised in one smooth movement and helped out Mel to do the same. They were so close that their nose almost touched the other's face. Their eyes locked and their lips were about to connect when Mel’s stomach growled.
Abby laughed at the sound, and placed a kiss on her friend’s forehead.
“Come on now Miss Walking Stomach, I think you need to be fed.” the hybrid said giddily.
Mel rolled her eyes at that nickname, and had to hide her smile while Abby turned around. They walked to the stairs and took the direction of the Vera-Vaughn-Greenwood’s Manor, hand in hand without even realizing it...
