Log_41.TXT
12/29/2023, 22:32 (GMT-5)
Yesterday, I went to the planetarium, to celebrate one of my friend's birthdays, and, naturally, Siriusmon, Canoweissmon and Regulusmon were excited, so they were fighting to be the first one to see almost every exhibition.
Sooner than later, we got to some constellation related exhibition, and Regulusmon got extra excited, because they were talking about the star that gives name to his species and composes a good part of its base data, Regulus, the brightest star on the Leo constellation. After the exhibition, both him and his brother, along with Siriusmon were asking me to let them explore, I connected to the planetarium's database and let them run around under mine and Siriusmon's supervision, since he has been here since the beginning and is basically the dad for the whole group, and the mentor of Canoweissmon, oh yeah, in the end Regulusmon doesn't train almost at all with Siriusmon since Regulusmon already trains Helloogarmon and gets trained by Kuzuhamon, but getting back on track. With the hours passing we got to the dome show that we paid to attend to, and my three digimon were nowhere to be found, tho I didn't have time to look for them, but I trusted they wouldn't be involved in anything sketchy (greatest mistake ever) so I just sent a message to Siriusmon telling them to get back to the dome and that's all, but... Obviously things weren't so simple.
Once the dome show started, I got a ton of notifications coming from Siriusmon, Canoweissmon and Regulusmon, saying that they got in trouble and were being chased by none other than Abbadomon Core, an unknown attribute, Ultimate level, unknown type digimon, the information from this horrible beast is limited, since its considered one of the most vicious digimon ever created, this thanks to the objective he was programed with. It's theorized that Negamon (Abbadomon's pre evo) and Abbadomon itself, were created by a fatalistic nihilism sect, that wanted to bring everything to nothing starting with the internet, the greatest achievement of this sect, was Abbadomon Core, the pure, raw essence of wanting the world to go back to zero turned into code.
I personally find this inhumanly cringe, since, even tho I can be considered a nihilist, I believe in that indomitable human spirit bullshit, and I take it pretty seriously, so I was more than ready to kick some edgy nihilist ass, even tho I was a little bit too much concentrated in the dome show.
Abbadomon Core was chasing my Digimon with its Bingerard, the spear it can turn its arm into, so I told them to bring it to the dome, once they arrived, Canoweissmon began charging for a Grand Nova, while Siriusmon fought against Abbadomon Core using the blades on its Sylvia, and Regulusmon was keeping it still with the Kalyp Bite, however, Abbadomon Core shoot it's Gaze Eraser, a myriad of lasers that it fores from the eyes all around its cape, this attack kept my Digimon at distance, but also kept Abbadomon Core busy enough for Canoweissmon to shoot it's Gran Nova however, I underestimated Abbadomon Core, since it quickly shape shifted his arms back to normal and used them to perform the Eclipse None, a mass of energy that corrodes everything it touches, to stop the Gran Nova, this is where I got worried, the Eclipse None is a dangerous attack, if it reaches any of my Digimon, the chances of it surviving were basically none, so we had to make this quick and attack from the distance.
Siriusmon attacked with the Breaquasar, however, It also got stopped by the Eclipse None, so we quickly realized that the only option was a direct attack, even tho it was the most dangerous one, so I quickly made a plan.
Abbadomon Core apparently can only use the Eclipse None when its arms aren't wielding its weapons, so we only had to keep him occupied while Siriusmon prepared the Breaquasar from the back. And thus, the plan began, Canoweissmon attacked constantly with the Meteor Lux and Regulusmon kept its spear still using the Kalyp Bite, Abbadomon Core is a digimon that only thinks about bringing it's surroundings to the nothingness, so it fired the Gaze Eraser once again to hit both Canoweissmon and Regulusmon, but this left an opening for the Breaquasar, that hit it's back directly, however, it quickly got back to action, and shoot the Eclipse None to Siriusmon, but Regulusmon got in the middle of the attack and used the Kalyp Bite to absorb the corroding matter, but the shield on Regulusmon's arm wasn't able to swallow the attack, and it started to rust and soon, decay. Due to the stress Regulusmon released a ton of GRB Factor, to stop the virus from spreading to the general database of the Planetarium, Regulusmon tried to absorb it, and, in the middle of the dome show, a light, bright as the sun, got eaten by a darkness thar exceeded that of the nothingness itself.
A darkness that was so deep, it could never exist in the real world, one that could only be simulated, took the shape of a caped crusader with drills for hands, a digimon thought to be possible only for highly experimental simulations, Arcturusmon, made act of presence.
Abbadomon Core, once again, with its infinite hunger for nothingness, attacked with the Eclipse None, and Arcturusmon took the attack with one of its spinning drills, and shot it to the sky along with GRB particles, it was like a meteor shower. Siriusmon used Abbadomon Core's confusion to his advantage and broke one of its Sylvia, so he could unleash the Planet Knuckle, to send him flying to Canoweissmon that was waiting with open arms and its claws, overflowing with the energy needed to use the Gallia Fissure, shredding Abbadomon Core to little pieces that will be quickly ended with a blast of dark energy that came from the tip of one of Arcturusmon's drills, the Black Confession, and thus, Abbadomon Core was no more.
The whole battle passed well as part of the dome's light show and after the whole thing ended, Arcturusmon fell asleep by himself...
I know we've already passed the time the GRB Factor taking over his mind was a problem but... I can't really not get worried after seeing this. The evolution increased the GRB Factor inside Arcturusmon's body, which, is evident since it can shoot it as part of its attacks now, and now I can only hope that he can control it... Because if he can't, we may need another collar and some more of Kuzuhamon's spells
Oh! And as for why Abbadomon Core was there, one can only assume, but my theory is that since the dome show was about how wonderful our world is, some members of the cult that programmed Negamon may have come with their own Abbadomon to fuck the while thing up, but it's only a theory, we're reaching the end of the year and I hope I can spend it with my boys, my friends and my family with no more inconveniences happening around me, I don't wish you a happy new years now since I want to make a post on that day, but just I case I have nothing to say or I forget, happy new years! And don't forget that even if 2023 is coming to its closure, i'll keep you updated.

Golden Digimental Weapons • The Final Battle!! (part 2)
[← PREVIOUS]
The reveal that the ‘light’ Daisuke and V-mon saw for an instance and saved them from Duskmon’s deadly beam was Beowolfmon caught both off guard. Beowolfmon and Duskmon kept clashing weapons, and said actions were completely destroying the place.
“So, this was how you two got saved” Ken commented, “A wolf-armored knight saved you…?”
“Yeah, now I remember!” Daisuke babbled “It had the form of a wolf, but I thought I was seeing things…”
“Well, that does not help much,” Wallace said, “We need to get out of here.”
“And leave him behind!?” Daisuke stared at him, “No way! Also, we need to beat this meanie as well, it’s our job to deal with evil digimon like Duskmon!!”
The clashes stopped and Beowolfmon stood in front of the group, and the gusts caused by the battle stopped.
“That’s right, we need to stop Duskmon” the wolf warrior looked at them, “You need to purify him.”
“Huh, how can we…” Miyako started a question but immediately bit her tongue and took her D-3 from her pocket, “N-No, wait! I know the answer!”
“You know?” Fauermon looked at her, and she nodded at him “Ah, that’s right… the trick with the digivices must work.”
“We need to fight him” Gummymon said seriously, and gave a glance at Wallace “He hurt you, and I won’t allow it to happen again!”
“G-Gummymon…” Wallace wavered, his hands were shaking. Then, Daisuke put a hand on his shoulder, “Daisuke?” he looked at the other.
“It’s okay if you don’t want to fight. You already lost Chocomon, so I can see why you don’t want to lose Gummymon too.”
“Leave it to us, Wallace-kun,” Ken added, then Wallace smiled.
“Thanks… I…”
“No, you stay here with Mimi-san, Lilymon and Lekismon while we will fight Duskmon” Takeru spoke, pulling Wallace to the corner of what used to be a wall. Lekismon realized they were trusting this kid and his digimon to her.
“Alright, I will protect him” she positioned in front of Wallace & Gummymon, like a living shield. “Leave them to us,” Lilymon nodded.
“Ok,” Daisuke looked at them, “Jogress evolve you all. Ken, Iori, we need your brains.”
“Right.”
“Miyako, Hikari-chan, Takeru, distract him.”
“W-what about you!?” Mimi asked with a gasp.
“You see, I got this lance-thingy and an armor so--”
“Glaive,” Ken corrected him, “And no, it’s too risky to throw it like a lance.”
“W-wait, Glaive and Lance are not the same thing!?” Daisuke blinked.
“Ichijouji-san can teach you more about glaives later,” Iori interrupted them “let’s focus on the current issue.”
“That’s too risky, Daisuke-kun” Hikari gave him a serious gaze, “We won’t let you do that. You will be next to Takeru-kun, Miyako-san and me this time”
“A-ah um… F-fine?”
Fauermon, DrillDigmon and Angewomon returned to the child and adult forms, respectively. Hawkmon and Armadimon evolved into Aquilamon and Ankylomon and then jogress evolved with each of their partners into Silphymon and Shakkoumon.
Ken and Iori, pretty much the “brains” of that combo, started studying the opponent dodging from the light arrows and shuriken. Shakkoumon worked as a powerful barrier repelling and absorbing any attack directed at the kids. Paildramon and Silphymon were in melee combat with Duskmon.
This seemed like an easy battle, but… Duskmon was sly like a fox and still had control over the Eyesmon horde, The attackers started to destroy the Eyesmon flock, before they could dive into their shadows.
“Ah little pests, I guess we should make this fair.” Duskmon snapped his fingers and a flock of Eyesmon started to consume his body.
“W-what is he doing?” Shakkoumon asked. “D-don’t tell me he’s…”
The shape turned into a digimon the size of Omegamon, but the body was covered with eyes in its right side and creepy mouths in its left side -- Abbadomon Core.
“That’s no good, Wallace…” Gummymon frowned.
“Now… We’re on a par with the power level.”
More and more Eyesmon came. The ones escaped by Hikari and Takeru’s sights were slashed by Miyako and Daisuke with their Shuri-Shuriken and Lighdra-Glaive. Lekismon also destroyed the ones coming into their direction. Lilymon attacked the ones coming from the opposite direction with her flower cannon.
“We need to fight!” the long eared digimon said, “Wallace?”
“I…” Wallace held Gummymon tighter, “I don’t want to lose you too…!”
“They’re so many!!” Miyako growled. “Oi, keep those pests away from us, Miyako!!” and then Daisuke's babbling was heard.
Wallace looked into Gummymon’s face and then to the battle. Shakkoumon kept releasing beams and clay disks at the endless waves of Eyesmon. Hikari and Takeru seemed quite exhausted shooting with the Neferti-Crossbow and Pegasus-Bow. Silphymon and Paildramon were still attacking Abbadomon, but the creepy digimon managed to dodge their attacks and hit them with his right side’s lance and shot at them with his right side’s machine gun..
The kids and their digimon were watching their own guard at least. Wallace now looked at Beowolfmon, and he seemed to be doing a beautiful swing of his blade, slashing Eyesmon trying to invade his shadow.
“I don’t know…” the boy sighed, and he fell on his knees “This is all my fault--”
“No! It’s not!” Gummymon stared at him, and then used his long ears to carefully grab Wallace’s head and make the boy look directly at him, “It’s not your fault. Chocomon’s egg not hatching is not your fault, not even that Daisuke had been brainwashed by Duskmon to act all alone. Or that you almost tried to kill him or lead them to a trap.”
“W-wait, Daisuke was… Brainwashed too?”
“Wallace, have you forgotten that you choose your own destiny?”
“No I… I didn’t.”
“Fate can be unchangeable, but…”
“... Destinies can and we choose them.”
The boy got up and grabbed his digivice, “Let’s go Gummymon!”
“Right!”
And thus, Gummymon evolved into Gargomon. And a light flashed from Wallace’s digivice, calling Beowolfmon’s attention. Then the wolf-armored warrior shot a beam into the digivice, causing the Digimental of Destiny to appear in front of them.
“There it is” Abbadomon’s eyes flashed and then he tried to steal that power, only to be repelled by a powerful aura of light caused by Beowolfmon “You!!”
“I won’t let you touch that child.”
“Neither us,” Mimi added, “Lilymon!”
Lilymon shot her flower cannon's attack at Abbadomon, even if it wasn’t effective. She had to fight! She had to protect Mimi and Wallace!
“Wallace!” Gargomon looked at the boy, who touched the digimental only to start altering its shape… A Bazooka with Golden Rapidmon’s features appeared in Wallace’s hands.
“Incredible!!” Miyako was astonished.
“Isn’t a Bazooka too dangerous for a dude like him?” While Daisuke… Not much.
“Duskmon!” Wallace shouted, “You want this power? Then… GET IT!”
And the moment Beowolfmon and Lilymon jumped to the side, Wallace shot a golden beam at Abbadomon and the Eyesmon crowd, throwing them away from the group.
“Whoa, whoa whoa” Daisuke babbled, “Watch out with it!!”
Gargomon started firing at the Eyesmon crowd coming to attack them, destroying each of the enemies with that rapid fire.
“Daisuke!” Ken looked at the goggle boy, “It seems that Wallace-kun’s weapon caused a good damage at Duskmon’s body. It’s our chance now!”
“Right… We need a miracle to happen here” and the Lighdra-Glaive disappeared from his hands. He grabbed his digivice and the same light came, and Beowolfmon just resonated with that as well, sending a light beam at the digivice’s flashing light.
Daisuke silently gasped at the mysterious light changing into the Digimental of Miracles, and once he touched it, it turned into a bright shining light that consumed his hand and once the light vanished, a glowing golden gauntlet with Magnamon’s features had been worn in his right hand.
“W-what is this!?” he asked rhetorically, then he noticed more Eyesmon coming “Uh so…?” he pointed at the pesky enemies and blue plasma started to charge in his hand “Oh so… We go kaboom now?” and he opened his palm, throwing a big projectile against them.
“T-that’s quite dangerous don’t you think?” Iori stuttered, while the rest just… Yeah, no one wanted Daisuke to keep that power.
“You… YOU!!” Abbaddomon came right against them, but the goggle boy punched him away from them with a blue plasma beam in the format of a fist “I WON’T LET YOU WIN!”
“Now everyone!"
They all attacked together -- Paildramon, Silphymon, Shakkoumon, Galgomon, Beowolfmon, Lekismon, Miyako, Takeru, Hikari, Wallace and Daisuke shot their long-ranged attacks at Abbadomon, causing a big explosion.
Digicode appeared as Duskmon emerged from the dust, and the children pointed their digivices at him, pressing a button in their holy devices to purify him.
After those screams, Duskmon turned into… Another humanoid digimon -- He had a lion-like helmet. His burgundy armor and golden wings were fancy, and there was no evil area around him anymore. All of the kids’ digimon returned to their child forms, except for Tailmon.
“You’re finally back to your senses, Raihimon,” Beowolfmon smiled.
“Raihimon?” They all, except for Lekismon, exclaimed.
“Yes…” Raihimon nodded his head, shameful “I’m sorry for the misfortune i had caused to the Digital World and those children”
“The power of darkness must be balanced,” Lekismon explained, “The warriors and holders of the power of Darkness can be easily corrupted by it.”
“Ah um… We’re not planning to do anything with those!” Daisuke and Wallace babbled quickly and by Beowolfmon’s snap of fingers, the two golden Digimental Weapons turned back into golden lights and went back to his armor.
“So… Duskmon wasn’t evil?” Miyako blinked, she started to be a little confused about that.
“Possibly Raihimon got consumed by the power of darkness and then turned into Duskmon” Iori theorized, “Just like the time Ichijouji-san used the D-3 to dark evolve Agumon.”
“Oh um… I have a theory for that” Ken said.
“Wouldn’t it be easier to ask him?” Wallace suggested, and the three looked at him.
“He has a point,” the three admitted.
“Before asking, you need to fix your mess!” Daisuke squinted his eyes, “You brainwashed the digimon, Wallace and me. Lots of digimon lives have been lost!” and he pouted like a toddler “At least they will be reborn as digieggs…”
“I will help to restore the balance of the Digital World, and to reconstruct the places destroyed by my selfish intentions.”
“Better you do!” Miyako gave Raihimon a dead glare, “We don’t know what was wrong with you, but if you do that again--”
“Miyako-chan calm down” Mimi interrupted her, “I think he regretted what he had done, right?”
“Yes, I’m ashamed of this whole mess…” the lion warrior responded calmly.
“Then, it’s okay,” she smiled.
“You sure, Mimi-san?” Wallace asked.
“He said he will fix the mess and restore the places destroyed so I’m okay with that.”
“Yeah, me too…” Daisuke shrugged, “If he ain’t causing a fuss anymore, we can let him go.”
“When he said ‘me too’ he’s also referring to the mess we caused as well” V-mon spoke.
“Of course I meant that! But don’t arrest me for digimon crimes, please?”
They all laughed, except for Raihimon, Bewolfmon and Lekismon. Daisuke pouted again:
“That’s not funny! I really meant it! I’m too young for jail!”
Wallace and Mimi returned to New York, the 02 group to Odaiba. Wallace was a bit bugged by what had happened to them all, and most importantly about how this had been his first adventure in the Digital World.
He went home, after saying goodbye to Mimi. Gummymon was in his arms, still wondering what to say to Wallace. Basically, the poor digimon felt a bit distant from him…
“Are you thinking about what Raihimon said?”
“Um… Yeah.”
“Light and Darkness are just labels given to the powers of Life and Death. For some reason, that power can overwhelm its holders. I think something in the depths of the Dark World sent a virus that corrupted me.” “A virus?” the kids exclaimed. “Like an eerie gust of wind.” “...” Wallace was quiet for a moment, but then “Something like this… Happened to Chocomon, a long time ago. But now his digiegg…” “Oh, this means… The egg’s data must be corrupted.” “W-what!? C-corrupted!?”  the boy gasped.
Wallace and Gummymon arrived at their apartment. His mom and Amy weren’t home, so he went right to his room, where a digiegg was lying on the desk, on a pillow and under the desk lamp’s light.
“Good evening, Chocomon” the boy smiled, put Gummymon on his bed and sat on his desk chair, “You won’t believe me, I went to the Digital World and… I did some not so nice things, but Daisuke and the others helped me.”
“Wallace…” Gummymon frowned, “Do you think Chocomon will hatch someday?”
“Of course he will!”
“It had been a while…” The tiny digimon with long ears sat on the edge of the bed, swinging his short legs like a child.
“No rush, come out once you feel ready” the boy spoke softly with the egg, and gently rubbed it with his hand, “We’re waiting for you. Gummymon, me… Daisuke and the others… You would love Mimi-san and Palmon too! So, don’t worry.”
After a short pause, he added:
“We forgave you.”
In the morning… Gummymon was sleeping on the top of Wallace’s stomach, both too deep into the dreams of previous adventures they had with those kids and the digimon.
When…
A crack was heard.
A sleepy duo opened their eyes slowly and then, a pinkish slime-like digimon popped from a hatched egg.
Wallace got up from his bed quickly as Gummymon jumped and floated in the room, landing on the boy’s head.
They screamed together “Chocomon!”
The pinkish brown baby I -- Kokomon -- smiled at them.

So Abbadomon Core is basically a Legion-esque version of Omegamon? I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
Also why isn’t Abbadomon called Legiomon?

Digimon Adventure: 2020 – Episode 67: The End Of The Adventure (Review)
Thoughts on the sixty-seventh episode of the Digimon Adventure reboot series.
It’s the final episode! WE ACTUALLY MADE IT TO THE END!!! \o/
I really liked how this episode opened up. It felt movie-like - but maybe because of the digital tunnel from the OG movies. XD; It set the tone very well for a final episode and it felt like it was going to be good.
Abbadomon Core is visually such a better villain than his Pacman self. XD He kinda looks like a plant-based Joker, lol. But he still looks pretty cool.
Oh, the other kids are still here and doing stuff “outside”! Nice of Toei to still include them (somewhat) in the final battle and not have them be totally useless. I was expecting just Taito to run the entire show. :P
I really enjoyed the Omegamon v. Abbadomon Core battle. It had a lot of variety and was just entertaining to watch, even for someone like me, who doesn’t really care about Digimon and/or battles. My only complaint is that . . . I wanted more. XD; A lot more, lol. It felt too short to me - but it was still damn cool. Definitely the highlight of this episode.
After Omegamon lands what should’ve been the finishing blow, we get a nice montage of all the Chosen Children and their Digimon "activating” their Crests on-screen, that leads to . . .
Holy shit, Omegamon Alter-S looks like a goddamn badarse! XD As I said before, I don’t really care about the Digimon, but he’s amazing. I wish he had more screentime, lol. The build-up and music was so epic, too. Loved it.
Defeated Abbadomon looking like a sad Pacman made me LOL. XD;
Negamon: “I vanish . . . vanish . . . vanish . . .” Omegamon: “No, if you are a Digimon too . . . surely . . . what you will reach next will be another evil existence. Or perhaps a good existence. No. You should not be bound by either one. Because we hold endless potential.” I really liked this. Nice message to the kids watching this series. :)
And the Digital World and Real World are saved! YAY! And all the kids get one final wholesome exchange with one another - for the series, I mean, not in-universe. :D This was a nice closing moment for them.
Chosen Children and Digimon Partners: “The adventure . . . continues to a new world!” What world? Can we go back to the OG continuity now? :D I really thought the episode would end here - but no. XD; I actually wouldn’t have minded if it had - and if they had stretched out the final battle more to fill in the time instead. XD;
But anyway, instead we continue on to a little epilogue - but not one some might have wanted. XD; We see Digimon like Wisemon, Lopmon and Leomon telling the story of the Chosen Children to other Digimon. It’s nice, I guess. It puts a spin on the humans talking about other legends - and makes them the legend instead.
Wisemon: “Mankind and Digimon. What kind of effects the merging of the two worlds produce from here is something even I cannot predict.” I guess this is a reference to the OG? Because that’s what happened in the OG continuity with everyone around the world getting Digimon partners. This is what the reboot gets instead of showing it happening - because it ain’t getting a sequel (at least . . . not immediately). XD;
We also get shown a lot of the Digimon the kids met along the way . . . and damn, we did meet a lot of Digimon. Some of them even had good episodes. This was pretty neat, actually. Reminded me that the series wasn’t all bad. ;)
And . . . all the Digimon stayed with their partners in the Real World! It’s different to the OG ending, of course, but ultimately the same “final” ending (Zero Two) where all of them are with their Digimon partners (humans and Digimon co-existing). Again, probably the best ending for the reboot, since they’re not doing a sequel. :P
The final brief glimpses of the Chosen Children with their Digimon was super cute. Takeru seeing Yamato was uwu and I wish their brotherly bond was shown more. T_T I also wish their parents were shown more and were actually there with them, lol. Also, lmao at Gabumon in his “disguise”. Why, though, when Piyomon is just flying so freely after Sora? XD;
Koumi confirmed!? Jokes. :P But Mimi is bankrolling Koushirou’s Digital Gate project, lmao. On his laptop we see: “The Choosen One - Adventure to a new world- Digital Gate TRIAL” And dang, Koushirou made a simple spelling mistake like that? My disappointment is immeasurable. XP
Finally, the last scene is Taichi and Agumon in the Digital World. I assume he got through with Koushirou’s Digital Gate trial . . .? So the adventure continues - but the series has ended. Nice enough ending, I guess.
Overall, I . . . liked it, lol. The battle was entertaining, albeit a bit too short for me, and Omegamon Alter-S is fucking awesome - plus we got a nice little wholesome ending. So . . . I can’t hate it. XD;
But the series as a whole? Well . . . that’s a different story. I think the series was a lot better in the first 25 episodes or so - maybe less - and there were some very good episodes sprinkled throughout from 25-67. But, mostly, it was just a disappointing drag.
(Episode 8 is probably still my favourite episode . . . and that was episode 8 out of 67, lmao.)
Did this series need to exist? No. But it brought a lot of people back to the Adventure fandom, and I made a lot of new friends. So, in a way, I guess I do appreciate that it exists?
I really wish the series had been better, though. In particular, I just wish the characters at least had been better written and not so one-dimensional. Because these characters from the OG are the reason I even watched this kids’ show for 67 weeks . . .
If I were to rank the reboot characters, based on characterisation alone, it would be something like this:
Mimi > Yamato > Jou > Takeru > Koushirou > Sora > Hikari > Taichi.
Actually, Taichi would probably be before Sora. But I really didn’t like the constant “main protag Taichism” - and it really made me dislike his character, so I can’t put him anywhere but last in a character ranking, sorry. XD;
Well, it’s been 67 long weeks of watching and reviewing - but I guess it’s been fun? ;)
I’m looking forward to the upcoming 02 movie. :)

Digimon Adventure Reboot, Episode 67
Finale editions. Spoilers, obvs.
- They want to do Our War Game so much they added an internet tunnel to an eldritch monstrosity.
- This villain can talk, haters can sleep easy
- Abbadomon: I will consume all. Demon lord of gluttony: Imma shoot stuff.
- “This is the last battle, for now.”
- Oh nice we get to pretend the others are relevant again for a second (when did they get bodies?)
- We will beat the opponent with the power of lag (this is so Our War Game it almost hurts.)
- Omegamon showing off some new attacks/features. That’s nice.
- Very nice to have the core as an Omega-like. Since we can’t have evil Omegas
- Is he deleting the All Delete? No fair.
- Everyone gets one line for this fight, choose wisely.
- Wait double sword and double cannon Omega are new. What do you recon they are called, Alter W and Alter C?
- So Alter S here as temporary powerup that isn’t connected to Blitz or Crescent feels superfluous to me, but at least they hid it better than most.
- Even the evil that wanted everything to die gets another chance and….oh my god why are you deleting everything Omegamon?
- Everyone else: “We’ll be friends forever and ever”, Jou: “Studying time.”
- Patahat and Cathug? In the finale? Do they follow me or something?
- The Adventure continues….psych new show next week.
- It would be ironic if after “Last evolution” they kept milking that universe and here “Adventure continues” is the last we get.
- Komondomon :)
- Leomon survived, biggest twist.
- Actually, from what I know of ghost game, it could be a ~30 years in the future sequel.
- Montage of all the friends made along the way
- Cute ending
- (Koumi fans winning?)
- Outside of the still kinda superfluous use of Alter S here (to me at least.) This does seem to have learned from the better elements of Digimon finales. Could probably do a post on that, but easily I can see 01, Savers, Xros wars, and Appmon elements here. (Maybe Frontier if you squint.)

Digimon Adventure: (2020) Final Thoughts
Considering I stopped reviewing this series episode by episode months ago, they’re more positive thoughts than you’d expect, though still not all that positive.
To summarize, this is an entertaining series with plenty of individual good aspects and great episodes that nevertheless leaves me cold as a whole. Much as I enjoyed following it week to week, I can’t say I recommend this series to anyone but hardcore Digimon fans, or hardcore fans of the wider “monster” genre.
Action
It felt appropriate to start with this, considering a focus on action was what the initial interviews promised, and they delivered in spades. It wasn’t perfect or too consistent, there were several times when the Digimon not evolving when they could just broke any tension the fights had, but this series had some of the best fights in any Digimon anime. Anything in the first 3 episodes, Greymon/MetalGreymon vs MetalTyranomon, SkullKnightmon vs Greymon and Garurumon, Mugendramon vs DoneDevimon, Mugendramon vs WarGreymon, Millenniumon vs the dragons, Omegamon vs Abbadomon Core… all of them among the best things the franchise has to offer in terms of action scenes, which after so many series where fights were solved by having a protagonist Digimon evolve and one-shotting the enemy, comes as a breath of fresh air (to be fair, this series also had a lot of that, but it had actual great fights to compensate).
Worldbuilding
Another thing promised in interviews was the use of Digimon from all over the franchise, and not only did they deliver, but they also included plenty of references to the “null canon” to enrich the experience for the most hardcore fans. The series made sure to constantly emphasize the savage nature of the Digital World, bringing back the Tamers worldbuilding of Digimon consuming weaker Digimon in hopes of achieving evolution. Along the way we saw a lot of allies fighting back against this status-quo, from things as overt as Leomon organizing a resistance or Petaldramon protecting weaker Digimon from the all-consuming Entmon, to less dramatic stuff like weak Digimon settling down to live together, or the mere presence of a restaurant where everyone can rest for a while of the hardships of their world.
The biggest flaw here was in how the series handled its antagonists. With very few exceptions, every single enemy Digimon in the series lacked dialog, whereas nearly every single ally Digimon could speak normally, and this disparity cheapened the whole thing, because instead of coming across as “this mentality is normal for this world”, it came across as just your normal “everyone lived together in harmony until the villains attacked”, which is very much not what the series was telling us.
Characterization
That brings us to the next point: the lack of personality for most villains. I joked elsewhere that Minotaurmon from episode 19 was the most compelling villain of the series, and that’s not completely a joke. Almost every single villain of the week was flat, plenty of the “main” villains were lacking in dialog (Algomon in the first few episodes, Nidhoggmon, Millenniumon) or turned mindless halfway through (Devimon, DarkKnightmon). Negamon/Abbadomon in the final episodes managed to benefit from this by being the embodiment of an “instinct”, but in general this meant a mook-of-the-week like Minotaurmon managed to be a highlight among the villains simply by having dialog and non-trivial desires.
But what of the protagonists? The popular opinion is that everyone is far blander than they were in the original series, and I agree. But rather than comparing it with the first series, let’s look at what it had to offer to us. Where in other Digimon series, the backstories and issues of the protagonists and their reactions to what’s going on around them make for most of the drama, in this series the drama comes from the villains trying to destroy everything, and for the most part that means the protagonists only need to be distinct and charming on their own, no necessity to create conflict between them. There is an overall character arc for all of them, though: accepting and interiorizing their new duties towards the world they had ended up stranded on, getting to know and love the Digital World. Was this well done? Not really.
Taichi and Takeru, for example, were so much the embodiment of the stock shonen hero that accepting their place in this new world didn’t really reveal anything about them we hadn’t already seen from their first few appearances.
Jou got stuck as an unfunny punchline 90% of the time, to the point of damaging his few “serious” moments in some of his focus episodes. His development of becoming assertive was compelling in theory, but it got muddled with so many unfunny and uncomfortable hotsprings jokes that the impact was lost.
Hikari started as an even more blatant plot-device “mysterious character” than she was in the original series, before unconvincingly changing to cheerful little girl afterwards (the whiplash between her in episode 33 and her in episode 34 was something else), and only really managing to settle into a compelling character in her last focus episode (58, defending the Digitamas from the Bakemon and SkullBaluchimon, which to be fair is a great episode and probably the best showcase for Hikari as a character in any product or continuity).
Koushiro was mostly fine, although we all remember the several times the series seemed to promise it might do something with him (his uneasiness when his family was mentioned, or that line about having to “face the darkness of his past” in the HerakleKabuterimon episode) that ended up being nothing.
Mimi is the fan-favorite, being charming in nearly all her appearances and having some of the best focus episodes, and it’s mostly deserved. If there’s anything I criticize from her, it’s that her focus episodes don’t really add up to anything.
Yamato was fine, started out as a stock shonen rival before becoming the single most chill “lone wolf” in any Digimon series, probably because of what I said before of the conflict between the protagonists no longer being the source of drama. He gets a slow development of caring only for his brother to starting to care for other Digimon for the sake of Sora and Gabumon to caring about the Digital World just as much as everyone else.
Sora was made fun of by a certain section of the fandom for having the worst focus episodes early on, and I agreed, but having finished the series I can’t get rid of the impression that her focus episodes, while perhaps not that good on their own, when taken as a whole explore her character the best of any other. Yeah, this mostly means exploring her compassion (these are not very multi-dimensional characters), but they deepen and deepen both her impact on the Digimon she saves and how she is impacted in turn by them, moving her away from saving others through her combat prowess to saving others by empathizing with the grief of another caring soul, and by the end I honestly ended up considering her my favorite character (despite none of her episodes making it to my list of favorites).
As for the Digimon… it’s following in the footsteps of other Digimon Adventure products by not really having much of interest for the Digimon themselves except for Tailmon.
Overall, for the most part the main characters were decent, but besides Mimi and ultimately also Sora, I don’t think they’re very memorable. All of them start out promising, but never really improved from that promising start (again, except for Sora).
Pacing
And now we get to the biggest problem of the series: Pacing. I’ve seen it stated elsewhere that this series was more episodic than most (any?) other Digimon series before it, and part of the backlash it got was from not being as serialized as fans expected it to be. This isn’t exactly true. From episode 16 (Eyesmon) to episode 24 (DoneDevimon), this series was as serialized as any other Digimon series has ever been, with nonstop escalation that demanded you keep watching it week after week. Then, from 25 to 35 (Angewomon) or 36 (BlitzGreymon), it pulled slightly back from that never-ending escalation, but was still pretty serialized. It was only afterwards that it became heavily episodic, and by that point it wasn’t expectations set up by previous series that hurt it in the eyes of the fandom, it was expectations set by this series itself in its first half.
Not that the episodes themselves were bad. Honestly, I found myself significantly more entertained by the episodic later half of the series than the serialized first half. Maybe it was because they didn’t feel the need to convince me they were the most exciting, tense thing I had ever seen when they were clearly not (hello, Mamemon episode), or maybe it was that there were more than just endless fights to them, but I normally ended up those episodes entertained and satisfied, whereas with a lot of episodes from Eyesmon to BlitzGreymon, I mostly just felt frustrated after watching them. I agree with the criticism that, when seen as a whole, breaking momentum so hard for so long after months of never-ending escalation wasn’t the right choice, but when seen week after week, I can’t see this change of approach as that bad of a thing.
Conclusion
I think that sums up the series for me. On a weekly basis, it’s pretty entertaining. It’s when seen as a whole that the problems really become clear. There’s been some speculation in the past few weeks of how much the current situation in the world might have impacted the series, but ultimately, I have to judge what actually happened, and I can’t help the impression that this series ultimately left me with nothing of substance after it was all said and done. Like, I enjoyed this more than, say, Appli Monsters, but Appli Monsters have things that stick with you after it’s over. Not so much here, unless you’re a hardcore fan that loves the Omegamon lore this added (which I am, btw; love that Omegamon lore). I don’t think I can recommend this series to anyone who isn’t a hardcore Digimon fan, or at least a hardcore fan of the wider “monster” genre.
One thing I’m grateful to this series for, though, it’s the commercial boost it has given the rest of the franchise. I’m not going to credit it for all the successes it currently has, after all the Card Game would have fell off by now if it wasn’t genuinely well-done and the Vital Bracelet happened because of years of the virtual pet division progressively building up its audience after it had nearly died off, but it’s undeniable they wouldn’t have sold as well without this anime advertising the franchise week after week. Next week, we’ll have the first episode of Digimon Ghost Game, the first time since 2001 that we have a Digimon series being immediately succeeded by another. If that isn’t a sign of how well the franchise is doing right now, I don’t know what is.
Favorite Episodes: 1 (Tokyo Digital Crisis), 6 (The Targeted Kingdom), 12 (Lilimon Blooms), 20 (The Seventh One Awakens), 32 (Soaring Hope), 42 (King of Inventors, Gerbemon), 49 (The God of Evil Descends, Millenniummon), 56 (The Gold Wolf of the Crescent Moon), 58 (Hikari, New Life)

Yesterday I went out with my family to a mall, so I could buy a pair of shoes since I only have some old boots that have been falling apart for two years now, but that's not important.
Inside the store there was a pretty uncommon digimon, Footmon, a Perfect level, cyborg type, Vaccine attribute digimon, I assume that he was one of the shopkeeper's partners, so while I was trying some shoes and my family was getting some food, l let Herissmon hang out with him, Footmon got to teach Herissmon a lot, mainly about creative ways to use her inherit lighting abilities, and teaching her how to play football, I did took a lot of time while trying the shoes, so I let Herissmon and Footmon do a little football match between themselves and Herissmon was obviously not doing so well (the score was 10-0, Footmon winning), since she's pretty small and even tho she has some skill and energy, she can't match with a digimon made with the data of some of the greatest players in the world, and since she wasn't on the winning side of the situation, she got frustrated and was going 200% on Footmon which made her evolve! The effort and energy she was putting into it helped her turn into Filmon, a Beast Man, Adult level, Data attribute Digimon, making her fast enough to score a goal, tho this obviously wasn't enough, since Footmon was still on his element and is still a perfect, while Filmon is just an Adult, so their score ended up being 23-1, but Filmon was still pretty excited for the match, and Helloogarmon was also happy that her friend found something to invest her energy on.
Oh, also, Canoweissmon, Siriusmon and Arcturusmon are finally recovered after the fight with Abbadomon Core, and Canoweissmon is as proud as a dad when he saw Herissmon get to evolve, I don't know why he has such a relationship with Filmon, but if I had to guess, then I would say it's because she reminds Canoweissmon of that time when he was a Gammamon, and I bet Arcturusmon feels the same.
This early part of the year has been pretty good with us and we're just a week into it, so I hope it stays this way, anyways, you know, that I'll keep you updated.
