"Did that stupid thing work?"

Well. If anything, it seemed like they were back in Room 101 rather than the world of Sakuya's memories and thoughts. Except the fact that their sleeping leader is missing and the device they used to get here is also missing. It's also a bit chilly in here, and if they're quiet, they could hear something like a breeze in the room.

"This just looks like our room..." Citron breathes out, looking around. "Everything is in their same place."

"Enough chit-chat, we need to look for Sakuya." Masumi interrupts, an unusually serious expression on his face. His lips are in a line and his eyes are steely. But underneath that, there is also a dollop of worry. "We can't stay here for more than two hours."

"But there's no door," Itaru says, jabbing his thumb at the space where the door was supposed to be. There's only full-body mirror there. The windows also had Mankai family pictures in their place. "Not even a window."

"Do you think this could be an escape room?" Tsuzuru suggests, knocking on a wall. It sounds hollow, but none of them can imagine another room in this mindscape anyway. "There has to be a way out of here, right?"

"...There's a crack here." Chikage's voice echoes from behind Citron's dresser before he pushes it aside, revealing a rather large hole in the plaster wall. From there, a strong breeze blows, making the room even colder that before. Masumi involuntarily shivers, and it doesn't escape anyone's eyes. Chikage doesn't seem affected, but the frown on his face betrays his apparent calmness. "I think we have to break this..."

"Is it okay...?"

Chikage shrugs.

"...There's no other way, is there, senpai?" Itaru asks, a grim tone coloring his words. "Not to nerd out, but games with this sort of dreamscape premise has the protags treat everything like they aren't real, but would we hurt Sakuya if we did? There's a reason there's only walls here."

No one answers.

This situation wasn't even mentioned in the Dream Manual.

"...We have no choice, do we?" Citron says after a while, his downcast eyes contrasting his smile. It's a sad smile, way different than his usual smiles. "If we want to save Sakuya, then we must find him. No matter what it takes. These... walls can be repaired, but we cannot lose him in his own head."

It takes a brief moment, but soon, they're all nodding in agreement. These walls seemed to be sturdy, but with the crack behind Citron's dresser, it was their only way out. He was right. They could patch up whatever walls Sakuya had, but they can't lose him.

They were in arm's length already, but they still had to find Sakuya. Although, Tsuzuru would be lying if he said that the search would be easy and simple.

They still didn't know things about him, and he could tell that it was going to be the difficult part.

Chikage finally pushes the dresser to the side and stands back. The others step back as he raises a leg.

In one powerful kick, the rest of the wall around the hole breaks. Snow blows into the familiar room, coming at them at a force of a hurricane wind.

When the wind finally subsided, they saw a...

A snowy suburb street. It was the generic Japanese neighborhood, with not one identifying trait. All the houses were occupied by silhouettes who played out a warm family scene through shadows. Snow dusted the neighborhood in white. Not one soul was outside and...

It was so lonely.

Is this truly the world of Sakuya's deep thoughts?

Did they truly know him enough to be privy to this loneliness?

Citron: Spring troupe, come here for a bit. Itaru: Huh? Why all the whispering? Sakuya: Is there something wrong? Citron: Shh! Sakuya, lower your voice. Masumi: Tsuzuru isn’t here now, though. Citron: Don’t water. This is a secret from him. Itaru: Guess you mean worry. But why? Citron: We are next on stage, but Tsuzuru worries a lot. It’s not good for him to be like this! Chikage: Indeed. I talked to him earlier, and he was feeling quite nervous. Citron: I’m sure he won’t perform well like that. Citron: Let’s help Tsuzuru loosen up! Masumi: Even so, we don’t have much time. We can’t do much. Citron: I have a good idea. Sakuya: A good idea? Citron: Yeah! Let’s set Tsuzuru a prank! Sakuya: Now I get it! He might loosen up with it! Itaru: True, Tsuzuru would perfectly fall for it. Citron: It will be fun no matter what prank we set. Itaru: So, Citron. All this prank setting is for your own enjoyment, am I wrong? Citron: In times like these, it’s good to write the kanji of “person” on your palm and sprinkle salt and pepper. Then, eat it! Masumi: What a dish. Sakuya: But there isn’t any salt and pepper in the dressing room… Tsuzuru: Don’t take it as a real thing! Itaru: Tsuzuru, you’ve experienced many things and overcame your worries in the past. It will be alright. Tsuzuru: Itaru-san… Chikage: So Chigasaki can say such things as well, huh? Itaru: That line appeared in the game I was playing yesterday. It was a really touching scene… Tsuzuru: That’s plagiarism! Citron: Tsuzuru, it’s almost our time on stage! Tsuzuru: Y-yes… it seems so.

Itaru: Don’t you feel thirsty, Tsuzuru? Tsuzuru: Yeah, my throat feels dry thanks to the nerves. Citron: Here. Delicious water for you. Tsuzuru: Thanks. Tsuzuru: Glug… Troupe members: … Tsuzuru: !? Tsuzuru: Cough…! So salty! What is this!? Citron: Ta-dah ♪ Our prank was a success! Chikage: Ahaha. You drank it all. Tsuzuru: Well, I was thirsty… Tsuzuru: But geez~~ what did you add to it!? Citron: Pickled vegetable broth. Tsuzuru: A low-key one, you! Citron: A low-key prank just like Tsuzuru! Tsuzuru: What’s with that? Chikage: Don’t worry, there’s normal water as well.

Tsuzuru: All of you planned it? Sakuya: We heard from Citron that you were nervous, so we thought of a way to help you. Sakuya: That’s how we started talking about setting a prank… Tsuzuru: Still, why pickled vegetable broth… Who would bring this kind of thing? Citron: I brought it from the dorms. I thought there wasn’t going to be any here. Tsuzuru: For what did you think you’d need it… Citron: Tsuzuru, are you feeling better? Tsuzuru: Yes, I’m good now. Tsuzuru: I was surprised by the sudden prank you blew on me. But I returned to normal because of it. Citron: No crumble at all! Chikage: Tell us if you start feeling nervous again. Sakuya: Then, let’s have fun on stage! Tsuzuru: Okay, let’s get excited!

Notes: Citron’s mistakes explanation!

1. He mistook worry with water even when the phrase was in English… 2. He said 日照り (hideri - drought) instead of ひねり (hineri - twitch). 3. His last mistake is not corrected. He said お安いごめん (oyasui gomen - easy sorry), but he might tried to say お安いご用 (oyasui goyou - no trouble).
