Please imagine little Omegas making their first nests and bringing all of their favourite toys in with them, even if they aren't exactly comfy nesting material. They just don't know what to put in their nests yet! And they know they like their toys and stuff so they should be perfect right?
How cute! Sharing this with the peanut gallery to enjoy as well.

Ghoul maybe it’s bc I’m acespec but I’ve always related the most to betas and have always felt that they should be the rarest and not alphas or omegas (I also hate the idea of rare meaning that people may only know like one, 1% of a million is still 10,000)
You're totally valid in this my love, I am saying that right out of the gate. I love when acespec folks weigh in on kink and fic tropes like this because y'all provide such an interesting perspective that I (as an allo person) don't have.
I think this is one of my issues with traditional a/b/o as well. The way that betas are treated and categorized feels very much not only as a cultural other, but also as sexless. Which is great for acespec folks, but also makes me wonder about ace omegas or ace alphas.
I am firmly against any endotype being considered "rare" simply because again I view it as a sliding scale.
Tumblr media
Lets say this is the Alpha-Omega scale with Alphas as yellow and Omega as blue. A "true" beta would be that nice green in the middle, but really anyone could be anywhere on this scale. Betas would range from high spectrum(leaning alpha) to low spectrum (leaning omega) and similarly omegas and alphas could be "low spectrum" meaning they lean more towards beta. It's just the amount of each hormone you have in your body.
I don't think sexuality is tied to any one endotype the same way I don't think sexual proclivities are. Omegas aren't all bottoms, alphas aren't all tops. Everyone has a heat/rut cycle it's just how strong it is, and just like in normal humans it's a miserable hormone addled experience for some, and a breeze for others. There's no reason an omega or alpha couldn't be ace, heat/rut doesn't turn you into a sex crazed animal, it's just the point of time when you're most fertile. It's ovulation, or a period, or idk what it would be for amab folks. The time of your cycle when you're moody and just want to lay down for a week.
Back to my issue with betas in traditional omegaverse fic. They've always felt like just... the other ones, the normal humans. It always felt to me like an exclusionary designation, and that just doesn't sit right for me. It's saying "well you're not a top or a bottom so I guess you don't matter." AND AGAIN it reduces a whole subset of people to a stereotype. I fucking hate that, let people be people, let the human experience be varied and beautiful!
I don't see why any endotype can't be any thing. Alpha/Beta/Omega, whatever you are you're still a person with your own thoughts, feelings, sexuality, and gender. No endotype can be defined by any one thing, there may be expectations, but there are expectations on us now and we still define ourselves by more than that.
Ace Omegas who spend their heats with their friend because they need someone to remind them to eat and take their pills while they're laying face down on the floor with cramps. Who sit on the couch during their friend's rut and hold their hair back as they lay over the arm of the couch and try not to vomit because the hormones make their head spin.
Ace Alphas that get anxious about their roommate's heat because there aren't not enough blankets in the apartment and- no- you stay right there, I'm going to get you some soup. Ace Alphas that spend their rut crying at videos of kittens learning to walk and stealing their qpf's pillows because they're fluffier than the ones in their room.
Ace Betas that get side eyed when they sniffle during a movie because betas are supposed to be the unflappable ones, the ones that don't get emotional over nothing. Ace Betas that build nests. Ace Betas that spray their friend with scent neutralizer after a heat because they fucking STINK, shoving their friend in the bathroom to shower while they figure out cleaning up the house.
Idk. do you get what I'm saying?

I'm not normally a "fuck canon" kind of person but it's still wild to me that JRO said via word of god that Pharma's red rust plague wasn't designed for Tarn. Like what the fuck. Tarn trapped Pharma into a blackmail deal to give him free tcogs for his transformation addiction and Pharma designs a plague that activates on transformation and you're gonna try to tell me that Tarn wasn't in Pharma's mind when he made it like that? How can you NOT write that into your plot when the connection is so obviously there? I guess it would've meant writing Pharma as more of a vengeful mech seeking punishment for his captor and not as an insane selfish doctor, and I guess that just wasn't what we were after.

Im mentally chewing on the fact it's now Commander Scorch on his own working for Hemlock.
Like it'd be really fucked up if the reason he stayed and the others either didn't (as in they took a path similar to the books and got out altogether, they're some of the first clones eligible for retirement after all given their service records) is Sev and having to leave him behind. Or maybe the other's have since died. and he's the only one left to keep going. hooooo

Let's start some discourse!!
One of the things often overlooked in A/B/O or Omega-verse stories and media is how trans people, or those who wish to be a different sub or primary gender, are represented and handled. I've read a couple of threads around the net of people who realised they were Trans or gender non-conforming due to the genre, and so I would like to hear the peoples' thoughts on how this should look in an Omega-verse setting. How do you think it would be managed? What worldbuilding would be around it? Would certain cultures make it illegal? Would it be something biologically natural or easy to do as a choice, by exposing oneself to different stimuli to promote the emergence of a new gender?
How would this look to you? Have you read any interesting Fics that explore this concept? Let me know!

See, the thing about these super-smart modern Sherlock Holmes type knows-everything-at-the-first-glance male detectives is, when they look at a female character and they're like 'oh she's wearing that ugly lipstick today and look at her fancy shoes not fit for her seated job, clearly she's trying to flirt with her co-worker/her boss/me/trying to get a raise/she's insecure/she's bad at her job and trying to distract us'
that's not even impressive, that's just how straight men talk about women all the time.

Rivertumblr!! I’d love some help with an essay I’m writing!! I’ve procrastinated in making this post so this is a very timely matter—please spread this post!
I’m writing a final essay for one of my classes on Riverdale and queerness, specifically focusing on Archie, Jughead, and Kevin; and the concept of the teen drama and how Riverdale interacts with it and elevates the queerness already thoroughly essential in the genre due to the number of teen dramas with queer creators. If I had the pages, I’d be writing about Cheryl, Veronica, Toni, and Betty too and probably Reggie and the rest but as it is it’s a 15 to 20 page paper so my grand thesis on Riverdale will have to wait. I’m focusing on Archie as the center of the subtextual queerness of the show and Jughead as a self-hating, homophobic queer, and how he polices queerness in Riverdale through his control of the story. I’m focusing on Kevin as a parody and criticism of the gay best friend character and how far it is from a satisfactory form of representation.
With scholarly articles or sources of any kind on Riverdale and particularly its queerness being so absolutely nonexistent, but seeing as you all have formed so much of my view of the show and put things into words much better than I in terms of analysis; that is, seeing as you all are doing such high quality analysis on here, I would like to use you, Riverdale bloggers, as sources. Please message me with your thoughts on any of this, on Kevin, Archie, Jughead, Jughead as author and shaper of the narrative, Archie as center of the show’s queer subtext/queering of the all-American man, Kevin as a parody, the teen drama as a genre—its queerness, it’s functions—etc. Also if you have sources you think would be useful!! Particularly scholarly articles but also anything I could cite for discussing Archie’s Weird Fantasy! Thoughts on absolutely anything Riverdale analysis related would be greatly greatly appreciated, especially if you have posts you’ve made that are really well-put analyses that you’d be willing to have me cite, I’d be eternally grateful for absolutely anything at all 🫶🧡

Totally random Disney z-o-m-b-i-e-s theory after happily snorting my way through the trilogy again.
Seabrook was totally cut off from the rest of society after the nuclear reactor went off, deemed a hazard area due to radiation. The town was basically left to fend for itself, and was eventually forgotten about in attempts to cover up the incident. But, with a bit of extra-terrestrial assistance in the form of Aunt Angie, Seabrook worked well enough as it’s own self-sustaining Utopia ecosystem before everything went down, and no one ever actually noticed the abandonment. To them, nothing was wrong, and they simply don’t get tourism anymore due to the zombie problem.
‘Mountain College’ is still in Seabrook, just a bit further away and at a higher altitude. This also explains why there’s seemingly only one college? Those who graduate don’t actually leave town to pursue jobs elsewhere, but go right back into Seabrook’s cycle of life to start it all over again. The only other rival school present is just another offset of Seabrook, since the town was presumably pretty large before the accident if it needed so much power. Easy enough to believe there was more than one school before everything went down, since we only see the parts of Seabrook closest to the z-fence.
It’s pretty obvious Seabrook is the kind of place where everyone knows everyone, and it’s also clear that most just stay in town without much interest in leaving it. To them, Seabrook is the world, and everything is perfect.
Now, IMAGINE.
Somebody (or a group of somebodies) from outside the contamination zone notice the strange lights near the coast when the aliens arrived, and come to investigate the rumors of a haunted, forgotten town ravaged by disaster over 50 years ago. Only, as they fall through the thick forest, they end up in a perfectly functioning Seabrook (exactly as over the top as in film). This is not only a shock to the outsiders (who are modern, normal human beings living in 2022), who are blatantly weirded out by everybody and everything. But also to the townspeople, who slowly realize that they were basically abandoned by society years ago, assumed dead, and now they have to live with the knowledge that their world is…well…fictional.
I feel like Addison would have a really hard time with this concept based on her personality type. But I dunno. Let me know what you guys think. Viable theory? Or just a fun AU? ;)

I just had a random thought about Weapons Drawn. Correct me if I'm wrong.
If Tippet is giving out detective points, which are apart of the detective's game...
Then, is he playing along with their game and letting his acomplices perish?
Is he faking being oblivious?
Or am I overthinking it? 🤔

hi, different anon, but WRT only primary gender fic-- the premises would probably be like "but how do they know its True Love without scents???" and "ooh no mates so everyone has ONE THOUSAND partners!!!"
Oh I think there are a million things they'd get hung up on.
They might get confused about what "straight" is, rather I think they'd be confused by what's gay. Think about it, to them a female alpha and a female omega wouldn't be too out of the traditional view because they could still have a baby.
Same as the one above I think they wouldn't be able to grasp how much of our lives is determined by the pervasiveness of the idea of the gender binary.
If they live in a pack culture they'd be confused why the idea of having multiple partners is odd. Etc.. Etc..
Not just scents, but they'd be really confused about how we communicate. They have so many non-verbals that we don't have, and it would be nearly impossible to envision socialization without them.
And last but not least, the fics are probably so bad that their offensive. And it's just like in any fandom where people are constantly arguing about the details and absolutely nobody has any idea whats up or down.

Predictions for Zombies 3 - The Origins of Scout Commander 15-09
Disney Channel has finally released a glimpse to their upcoming original film, "Z-O-M-B-I-E-S 3", a music video titled "Alien Invasion". The video introduces a mysterious character known only as Scout Commander 15-09, while little is revealed about this character their primary defining feature is a head of white hair. This detail essentially confirms the origins of Addison's unusual hair color, but one question still remains, if Addison is actually an alien, how did she end up living in Seabrook?
In the music video, a video recording of Scout Commander 15-09 reveals that the commander hid the coordinates to Utopia, a potential new planet for the aliens, in "the most precious thing in Seabrook", but the video file was too corrupted to reveal any details about the precious thing. The Scout Commander's ship was buried underneath Zombietown, suggesting that she's been on the planet long before Seabrook was founded, when the town was still Werewolf territory. This supports an ongoing theory that the aliens may have originally created the Moonstone, and implies that "the most precious thing" could also be the mysterious power source that contributed to both the creation of the Zombies and the Werewolves. In "Z-O-M-B-I-E-S 2", the Werewolves initially believed that Addison was their "Great Alpha" because of her hair color, but none of the other wolves posses that unique feature. So, why did their prophetic leader have a head full of white hair instead of a tuft of white like the other Werewolves? I believe that the Scout Commander in the video landed on Earth by accident and learned how to survive by interacting with the people she encountered, i.e. the first Werewolves. Since the previous film revealed that the Werewolves would die without their precious power source, it stands to reason they were once overcome by a deadly disease before becoming Werewolves. As a sign of gratitude for teaching her to thrive on their planet, the Commander likely infused her alien energy from her body and her alien equipment into what is now the Moonstone in the hopes to give them the power to survive the epidemic. Because of the Scout Commander's hair color does not match up with the blue hair of of the other aliens in the music video I believed that her hair turned white because she expended a too much energy empowering the Moonstone, and thus the legend of the Great Alpha was born.
The Scout Commander's hair color is an obvious tie-in to Addison's origins. There are those who believe that the Commander is her birth mother, but I believe that she actually might be Addison herself. Aside from the hair, her voice in the recording almost sounds like distorted version of Addison's voice and her father seemed to hiding something in "Z-O-M-B-I-E-S 2" when the Werewolves told him that the Seabrook Power Plant was their territory. Also, throughout the music video, Addison was the only person who didn't seem to be afraid of the oncoming invasion. This was not the case in the previous two films: she was apprehensive of zombies until she met Zed in the first movie and she was appropriately terrified when the Werewolves charged into their high school. It's possible that Addison's lack of fear towards these particular monsters is due to the fact that she subconsciously recalls once being a part of their group. One of Addison's line in the music video is "Don't know what instinct to trust", which heavily implies that she's drawn to them because of a forgotten past. I believe that when the humans stole the Moonstone from the Werewolves, Addison was either recovering from transferring her powers or installing the coordinates to Utopia from inside the Moonstone. On the day the power plant blew up and created the Zombies, she managed to amass just enough energy to emerge from the stone and blend into the crowd, however the explosion caused her to lose her memory. Since her parents are two of the most powerful people in Seabrook, they likely ended up raising her as their daughter in order to harness and study her alien energies which likely resulted in inventions like the Z-Band.
What do you think? Is the Scout Commander one of Addison's long lost relatives or is she Addison herself? And what is Seabrook's most precious things? Feel free to share your thoughts and let me know if there are other topics you would like me to touch upon.

Is Makomo actually older than Giyuu and Sabito?
I can find no confirmation of Makomo's timeline relative to Sabito & Giyuu's. I think the real a lot of people headcanon her as having been Urokodaki's student before them was because we don't see evidence of Giyuu having had a relationship with, or even having known any of Urokodaki's other pupils, and by the time Urokodaki met Tanjiro, Urokodaki was feeling pretty done with having sent students off to the Final Selection. While there's no explicit evidence of this, it perhaps feels like seeing what it did to a lone survivor like Giyuu might had been something that made Urokodaki unable to deal with it any longer after having dealt with so many isolated tragedies. It's hard to tell, but it seems most of his students were not physically small as her, and despite how much her loss would had hurt Urokodaki, he might had decided he shouldn't had trained someone that small in the first place and it was still worth giving a couple strapping young boys a shot.
Personally, I just like the idea of her having been part of Mt. Sagiri's history before Sabito and Giyuu came along. If anyone has explicit evidence of this, I'd be happy to know too!

Ethnic Groups and their differences - brief
This can be an incredible way to explore how many different cultures view gender-norms, and their role in society. It can also be up to the writers discretion on how they portray specific ethnicities and how their people display A/B/O, however, the purpose of this distinction in different ethnicities should be to uplift people, not to bring them down – looking at you, writers who consider the western approach to be the norm, when it isn’t even the norm in western society. How’s that 5/6 divorce rate feel? Anyway.
A general idea on how to extrapolate on this effect is this – how do peoples bodies change in different environments? In areas where people face real predators – like jaguars, and bears – would it be safer for Omegas and Alphas to have less of a scent and simply have better senses? In places where food is scarce most of the year, perhaps the Omegas and Alphas sync their ruts and heats to either whenever the harvest is plentiful – whenever their fat reserves reach a certain amount – or simply every year when spring begins? Perhaps extreme environments, such as hot deserts and humid jungles, will force Omegas and Alphas to sweat without a scent, and to have less heats, and perhaps colder places will allow couples and families to intentionally spark heats to create warmth? Perhaps you could even have certain ethnicities that lack the sensory range of others, or vice versa, or have ethnicities that display differently due to their environment not requiring such extreme differences in strength, like New Zealand and some island nations, where there were no natural predators, perhaps allowing the Omegas to develop into being as strong as, or perhaps stronger than their Alpha counterparts in moments of high stress. If the world is post-fallout, especially a radical kind, such as chemical warfare, perhaps the world lives in greater extremes, creating whole new ethnicities in places that live life differently, and are biologically sometimes adjacent to their neighbours.
The most important part to stress would always be that the people would match their environment, and that another people entering, and enforcing their worldview would go incredibly poorly, even if they are seemingly more in the right – such as cold weather ethnicities valuing small, close units, as opposed to large desert-based communities who share their resources for safety and survival. It’s all about a matter of perspective, and the way in which different ethnicities – such as Old Celtic and Gaelic and Picti Britain and their subsequent invaders – interact and raise children and families can be a brilliant way to examine and deconstruct gender, culture, ethnic influence, and society as a whole.
It would also be interesting to explore what kind of Omega and Alpha beauty standards exist due to the environment around them – such as the continent of Australia, where being tidy and clean is the most attractive feature someone can have, versus perhaps a resource scarce country, who value partners who are evidentially eating well. It is interesting to note that, recently discovered by anthropologists, peoples in desert countries acquire and store fat in different ways and forms to peoples in cold weather countries. Which is another consideration a writer can use when writing in different perspectives! Something one character is ashamed of – such as thicker than usual in their culture and ethnicity thighs – can be considered incredibly attractive to another character due to their culture and ethnicity placing heavy importance in the presence of such features. Perhaps even an Alpha who is ashamed of having a quiet voice, being from a country in Europe, is considered incredibly attractive to other varieties of Ethnic Omegas and Betas because a ‘quiet Alpha is a good warrior and a hunter’. Writers can go as ham as they want with this, because it’s a real thing in our actual world! Exploring the differences in beauty standards from different ethnicities and cultures can be an incredible experience.
