i have been unmedicated for the entirety of spring break and thus have had little interest in writing this down, but i have been thinking about this for the entire week (as well as a dpdc clone danny au that resulted in it becoming its entirely separate batman au that includes a teenage vigilante bruce wayne, an ocarina, and me entirely incapable of making a batman au without making bruce dirt poor but we're not talking about that) and so i've finally went 'fuck it' and forcibly grabbed my laptop. I will get this done in one sitting even if it kills me.
BUT. This is about neither clone^2 danny nor about who i am calling Ocarina Batman. This is about my Danyal Al Ghul Au and more SPECIFICALLY it's me thinking about his relationship with Sam and Tucker specifically.
Tucker and Sam? Adore this asshole (affectionate) with every fiber of their being. And it is very much a reciprocated feeling, but Danny's thoughts will not be delved into much other than he would kill for them.
Tucker? The only person currently capable of getting a deep, loud, belly laugh out of Danny. Sam can get him to smile and to laugh, but it's the kind that's a chuckle-under-the-breath. The quiet, looks-down-while-huffing laughter. Snorts once with laughter and then grins stupidly.
But Tucker? Tucker can crack a slew of stupid jokes and Danny will be incapacitated for the next five minutes because he's laughing so hard that he can't breath. He lands one well-timed pun or quip and Danny will be close to tears. His laughter is their favorite sound in the whole world.
Sam is lowkey jealous of this ability, and she's gotten a belly laugh out of Danny a few times. But alas, it is Tucker who wields this power and has gotten it the most times out of the two of them.
-
They're also both physically affectionate with Danny as much as possible. It started roughly around when they were 12-ish, a year since they befriended Danny, and they noticed that he sought after touch but never seemed to initiate (and was in some ways repulsed by it). They started slowly being more touchy with him. Hooking a finger around his to lead him somewhere, tapping his wrist, looping arms. Little touches, grabs, etc, to get him used to it, and once he started doing it back they started increasing it.
It's gotten to a point where he will now just. Lay on them. Like a lizard sunbathing on a rock. Leaning on their backs when they're sitting in class before the bell rings, his chin on their heads. He'll talk about anything with his arms looped around their shoulders.
If they're sitting on a couch at either of their houses, he'll lay his legs on theirs. Him and Tucker will press their feet against the other's and try and push against them (newsflash: Danny always wins, Tucker claims its the ghost strength but Danny's been winning since before his accident)
-
Naturally, both Sam and Tucker know where Danny keeps his weapons on his person, and are allowed to grab them off of him if they need it. His only requirement is that they don't lose his weapons if they take it and forget to return it immediately.
They both understand how big of a thing this is from Danny, and so they do their best to treat his weapons with a lot of respect and care because they know its his way of saying he trusts them.
-
Sam and Tucker are so fond of Danny it's insane. Like fr. That's their goddamn best friend, and they are so protective of him. Emotionally, physically, you name it. They will tear the head off a grown man if they need to, Danny's had scars since he arrived in Amity Park and Sam and Tucker both are going to find the person who put them there and make them pay for it.
One time, Tucker overheard a bunch of upperclass girls speaking nastily about Danny and about the rumors surrounding him, calling him names like 'freak', 'monster', etc. Danny was with him and heard it, and seemingly appeared unbothered by it, even telling Tucker that he was used to such rumors.
Tucker was so furious that hacked into the school system later that night and tanked those girls grades. They were kicked out of their clubs and had to go to mandatory tutoring for the rest of the year. He made sure to leave some way of letting them know it was him who did it.
And Sam doesn't like using her money for things, doesn't like abusing that wealth. So instead, whenever her parents talk bad about Danny, she causes a media incident that has her parents scrambling to deal with. She does something wild, outrageous by her parents' standards.
She heard some boys on the basketball team making fun of Danny once, similar to those girls had. She kicks up a fuss about something eco-unfriendly at school and forcibly holds a protest on the same day of the big home basketball game, forcing them to cancel the event and reschedule to a visiting school.
She anonymously donates money so that there's new uniforms for the team but oops! Looks like she "forgot" to donate enough money for them to get uniforms for all the team members, and strangely enough those boys in particular didn't get them! Looks like they'll have to wait until more money gets donated for the basketball team to get their new, nice uniforms. The old ones look so ratty in comparison, right?
And since the football team gets most of the sport money, that might just take awhile. And if (and when) they kick up a fuss? oops! Off the basketball team you go, :) such unsportsman-like behavior is unfit for the team.
(The only good thing about how corrupt the school system is is that she can use it to her advantage too.)
The both of them know that Danny suspects them for the sudden misfortune falling on these people, but he doesn't call them out on it. He's kinder than he used to be, but not kind enough to vouch for people who speak badly of him. Sometimes, he might just congratulate them on not getting caught.
Because Danny is their wonderful, hurt friend with a "slightly" Blue and Orange Moral code, and enough scars that people have been calling him a criminal (and worse) since he arrived in Amity Park when he was ten. And they'll be damned if he gets hurt anymore.
#dpxdc#dp x dc#danny fenton is not the ghost king#dp x dc crossover#dpxdc crossover#dpdc#danyal al ghul#its kinda hard to get my thoughts in order bc i am ✨unmedicated✨ rn BUT#this is the gist of it#i could wax poetic about how much sam and tucker adore danny as their friend but alas. the wax is not waxing. it is stuck to the paper#and i am chipping it off with my nail and its getting stuck under it.#ocarina batman has been in my head since friday someone come sedate me. him and pit fighter batman too. who is ALSO a piss poor teenage#bruce wayne who instead of a vigilante and villains is a PIT FIGHTER. he fights blindfolded thats why he's called the bat#ocarina batman's Look is if you combined punk + assassins creed aesthetic together and then gave it an ocarina#the ocarina is because i thought it'd be cool if its how he and robin communicated across long distances bc they didnt have comms#because they are ✨poor✨ and live in a one room apartment in crime alley.#and also the mental image of him sitting on. rooftop ledge in the rain playing 'song of storms' from LoZ was too fantastic to ignore#like bro imagine hearing that as a criminal. you're off doing shady shit with your gang and in the distance you hear the faint and#haunting melody of an ocarina. two of them in a call and response duet. and its getting closer. and you cannot find where#siren type shit fr fr#look he has the assassins creed hood and a long ass coat that has spikes on the end that when flared out looks like the silhouette of a bat#on fucking GOD i am this 👌 close to finding an artist doing commissions to make this for me. i am frothing at the mouth#he is 17-19 years old with his little brother-son Robin. Logically Robin is Dick but in my heart of hearts the first Robin is Jason#and he has perfected the art of getting his older brother to play songs on the pan flute for him. long pitchy whine on his own ocarina#the familiar childlike 'pleeeaaaaaaase?' and he knows he's won when there is a 10s silence on the other end before his brother plays#a lullaby.#look up 'sailor moon - pan flute (relaxing) on youtube' and when there's the thumbnail of two green skinned aliens with long blue and pink#hair. click on it. THAT is the song Bruce plays.#hhhhhhhhhhh frothing at the mouth over this au sooo fucking badly

Warning: Grumpy old Sailor Moon fan rant.
I've hated about 70% of the new merchandise that's come out in the last decade but what I really hate how fans totally eat it up. Most of these collaborations have little to no thought put into them and fans still go for it. It's so disappointing.

I actually get self concious and critical of my media consumption habits. Im very aware that out of my favorite characters few are girls, and that i tend to gravitate towards primarily male cast pieces of media. I know im not the only one though and i think others feel bad about it too and try to pretend it isnt happening, they are # good feminists by pretending the characters are actually girls but that's just a bit delusional and missing the point. It's funny, i'll see people screaming and crying about she/her hajime and wlw rinniki etcetc but wheres the passion and energy for the actual girls in this game. Arashi, anzu, negi, like, the actual canon girls. And when people do talk about arashi it's so often reduced just to her gender. Well it doesnt really matter it's all chronically online talk anyway but i want people to self reflect on their headcanons and then the way they interact with media. Anyway. I watched kamikaze girls a few weeks ago, it was sooo good i need more films like it if you have recs? Doesnt matter the language

You know, I'm thinking more about the differences between Sailor Moon Crystal/the Sailor Moon manga and the 90s Sailor Moon anime. What I remember being the major difference is the amount of time we got to spend with the girls who weren't Usagi. Back in the 90s, having such a female-driven show that (usually) passed the old Bechdel Test was a rarity, and a lot of us grabbed on to that part over all else.
I didn't like the Sailor Moon manga. I didn't like Crystal either. And there's a part of me that wonders if the reason why I had an attachment to the 90s SM anime versus those two other variants is because I was there for something other than what the manga and Crystal had to give.
That is NOT to say that either form is bad, far from it. Just because I didn't care for it does not mean it was at all bad. It just wasn't what I was looking for.

One more Narnia connection jumped to me when we talked about the house. The kids go to another world and it’s described like: “…vast rooms that opened out of one another till you were dizzy with the mere size…neverending courtyards…it was all so dreary and so much the same.” I don’t think If have a whole college thesis but I could do an epic high school comparative essay
There are probably so many Narnia things I missed simply because I haven't read Chronicles of Narnia for many, many, years, though I read them as a kid. I'm trying to recall if there was a fantasy series I loved above all others as a kid, because I did read and like a lot of fantasy as a child!
My #1 was Arthurian shit, I LOVED the Once and Future King when I was like, 11, but strictly speaking that's not a kids' book I was just weird.
But a kids' fantasy series in and of itself, that I'm not sure. I thought Chronicles of Narnia was fine, I was too old for Harry Potter by the time it came out, I would have ADORED His Dark Materials--even as an adult I think it's pretty fucking good--but I was too old again, I had a brief dalliance with the Enchanted Forest Chronicles that was very fun, definitely read the shit out of the Dragonriders of Pern, OH! I really loved the Wrinkle in Time series. That did slap, I should reread it and see if it holds up, I think it might.
Anyway, FASCINATED by the idea that you basically put forth without saying it that Clarke read The Magician's Nephew and was basically like, "Hm, I could write this for adults and better" and honestly, she did! I wish more authors would take kids' books and make them adult books, frankly, because YA/children's books often have great conceptual worlds that are completely undermined because they are MEANT to be written more clear-cut and with simpler vocabulary. Because that's what children need and crave. But as an adult, I want the complexity, the difficultly, the confusion.

it just occurred to me that i literally just saw you on instagram idk when exactly but it was recent
anyway- may i request something for mc doing cove's hair, or anything related to it? have a good now, too! 🌊
okay hello gamers i can write again so i’m doin this frfr (sorry it took so long homie LMFAO)
shout out to this ask for breaking my no writing for 6 months streak
no specific step, just as long as cove has long enough hair
not beta-ed or proof read (i wrote this in 20 minutes)
~*~
The night outside lay still as Cove and yourself sat in the living room of your home. A cheesy movie played in the background as the two of you chatted, occasionally breaking conversation to make fun of said movie.
“Dude, he’s such a fucking idiot, why would he willingly jump into that thing?” You asked incredulously, smacking your forehead with your hand with a sigh.
Cove snickered, shaking his head at your exasperation. His ponytail swayed side to side at the movement, which caught your eye.
“Hey Cove? Can I do with your hair?”
The random question made his eyes widen a bit, his hand automatically going up to his hair. “Uh, sure I guess?”
You smiled deviously, going to sit up on the couch from the floor where the both of you hand been previously sitting. Cove eyed you nervously at your immediate change in expression.
“Under the conditions that my hair stays the same length and colour as it started.”
You simply smiled with faux innocence, gesturing to the spot on the floor in front of you. “C’monnnn, sit downnn,” you encouraged. Cove folded under your stare, sighing and scooting to sit between your legs.
You tugged the hair elastic from his hair, watching as it fell from its confines. For a moment, you sat and just stared at the green, thinking about what you should do. You could be nice and just brush it. Orrrr… you could put it into Sailor Moon buns.
The second option was the obvious answer.
“Stay here, I’ll be back,” you stated, standing up and leaving the living area. You grabbed some bobby pins and elastics from your moms’ room, shoving them in your pockets.
When you re-entered the room, Cove was miraculously still sitting there and giving you an inquisitive look, head cocked to the side a bit. You pulled the small box of bobby pins from your pocket and shook it menacingly. “Weapons of choice.”
Cove groaned, which you decided was from excitement.
You sat back down as you scrolled back to the tutorial you remembered seeing a few days ago. After successfully fishing the video out of your camera roll you got to work.
You followed the tutorial closely, with complaints from Cove:
“You’re pulling my hair.”
“That’s how you get it to go where you want it.”
“Ow, those bobby pins hurt.”
“It’s so it stays!”
“How many bobby pins are you going to use? They’re jabbing into my head.”
“Shh.”
Finally, you finished, beaming at your hard work. You fumbled to take out your phone, opening the camera once it was safely in your hand. “I’m done! Look,” you exclaimed, handing Cove your phone.
He blinked at the screen a bit before turning his head to get a better view of the style his hair had been beaten into.
“Hey, that’s the way that one anime girl has her hair,” he pointed out, gently tugging at the ends of the hair that stuck out from the bun. You nodded happily. It was a lot less neat as your would have liked it, but it made the both of you laugh until Cove took the hair accessories out and returned it to his normal ponytail. Boo.

Beautiful thing happened today: the guy doing headshots had these brilliant nautical tattoos and I, a known ship nerd, pointed them out and said I thought they were brilliant. And he launched into how for 12 years he worked on a tall ship at one point as the captain. He got all excited telling me about it and asked if I was working on any ships. I said no, but I’d love to, have wanted to ever since I was a kid; he asks if I know so-and-so, to call him and even just being a passenger will get you credit with skippers. And at this point I’m grinning and laughing and I really want to talk more about sailing and historical stuff with this guy. He goes “Right tilt your head this way, you wanna look warm and approachable yet tough for any skippers!” Probably the best headshots I’ll ever get, those smiles were sincere. Then he recommended me his favourite book - its 700 pages and it’s 300 years of historical fiction called “We, The Drowned” which I’m checking out asap because it sounds brilliant

fucked up that love live just doesn't exist anymore. like you cant go and play it in offline mode or whatever its just a thing thats gone. landmark in the mobile rhythm game sphere and no subsequent generations will ever be able to play it. a totally ephemeral game. it doesnt exist on a disk anywhere, despite the fact they arguably couldve made it that way. about my favorite rhythm game ive played and what, all gone forever, no more snow halation? no more strawberry trapper?
it just sucks that theyre allowed to destroy something forever. that there isnt a way to save it. no one cares about game preservation.
