Our intelligence has gained the information that Russia is considering committing a terrorist act at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant - a terrorist act with the release of radiation. They have prepared everything for this.
Unfortunately, I already had to remind more than once that radiation knows no national borders, and who it hits is determined only by the direction of the wind.
We are sharing all available information with our partners - everyone in the world. All the evidence. Europe, America, China, Brazil, India, the Arab world, Africa - all countries, absolutely everyone must know this. International organizations. All of them.
There should never be any terrorist attacks on nuclear power plants, anywhere. This time it should not be like with Kakhovka: the world has been warned, therefore, the world can and must act.

I would also like to add to this that my coworker has friends with relatives among the trapped workers of the power plant. Those under the contract were told to evacuate by July 6th by the Russian side. They were also "advised" (threatened) to say that it's all Ukrainians side fault if (when) it blows up. Think about that what you will.

The night passed without a nuclear disaster. Yay! :D
Funny how the most ordinary things can make you happy under the right circumstances.

Plus, it was supposed to be the main cooling reservoir for the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (the biggest one in Europe) but all this water is currently flooding Kherson.
There is no _immediate_ nuclear safety risk but it is still a dangerous situation.

Very informative thread about what will happen if the rushists follow through on their threats to blow up Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
Please read the original thread, it has so much more details and consequences.
A think it can be translated by Twitter? But I'll just translate a few points from there:
« 1.Forget about Chornobyl', there was one block. If the nuclear power plant, which the russians clearly mined very carefully, goes up in the air, the consequences will be many times worse. there was one reactor. There are 6 of them at the ZNPP.
2. Let's start with the fact that it will not be possible to immediately deal with the consequences. The nuclear power plant is occupied, russia will not allow us or the IAEA to go there, nor will it send its own to patch it up. that is, we will have a broken nuclear plant and no possibility to close it.
3. The staff won't help as they will most likely get blown up or be unable to repair anything due to radiation leaks. therefore, we proceed from the fact that we have a distributed nuclear power plant, from which there is a constant output of: 1) radioactive fuel. 2) radioactive isotopes. 3) graphite.
4. Pollution goes in two ways. the first - by air. it is the air that will carry the worst - isotopes and volatile substances. I think there is no need to explain that it is almost impossible to protect yourself from this. everything will depend on fate, since we do not know which way the wind is blowing.
5. The second and maybe the worst. water pollution radioactive fuel flows and underground water. and most likely in Dnipro. the design capacity of the Chornobyl' NPP is 6,000 MW, the same as that of the ZNPP. however, the Chornobyl' NPP was in operation for 15 years, and the ZNPP - 37. imagine how many times more nuclear fuel there is.
6. But that's not all) rivers flow not only into the seas. rivers, together with underground waters, moisten the lands of Ukraine. as a result, most of Ukraine's land will be polluted and unsuitable for production. any.
7. Most likely, all of Ukraine will be polluted in one way or another. yes, to varying degrees, but it will not escape our neighbors either. if the ENTIRE station actually takes off, then most likely the whole continent will be fucked.»

Disclaimer: This is not an all-clear regarding the danger of an explosion or other ways the area could be contaminated!
ZNPP: Zaporizhzhya (Запоріжжя) Nuclear Power Plant, currently occupied by Russian forces
IAEA: International Atomic Energy Agency
Last week the chief of Ukraine’s military intelligence directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, claimed that Russia approved a plan to blow up the nuclear power plant and had mined four out of six power units and a cooling pond. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy spoke of a planned “terrorist attack”. On June 30th IAEA experts were able to conduct a search of part of the plant’s cooling system and reported no visible indications of newly planted mines or other explosives. It is of note that the experts still need further access to inspect other parts of the site and it is therefore not entirely sure whether every placement of mines is currently known. The IAEA already previously reported mines planted outside of ZNPP’s perimeter and also on particular places inside.
It was also reported that Russian staff and military gave been reducing their presence at the power plant over the last days. Russia had assured the United Nations council this week there were no plans to blow up the power plant. It is not known how trustworthy those assurances are as Russia had also assured it would not invade the Ukraine.
If you have more information it would be appreciated if you added them (preferably with a source)

Russia told the UN that they will most definitely not blow up the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. Which means that they will try to any moment now. How much of a fucking cunt do you have to be.

I want to mention once again that Ukraine spent this winter with a large percentage of our energy system destroyed by russian bombs and the largest nuclear power plant held hostage by russians - which, I remind, is still the case, russians still torture the personnel of Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, and still keep military equipment with explosives inside the nuclear plant, endangering most of Europe.
Through the winter, when power consumption is the highest because we need heating, Ukrainian energy infrastructure persisted under bombs, despite all destructions. Thanks to Ukrainian Armed Forces and energy specialists, we are meeting spring with power in our homes.

Nuclear Power Plant Staff in Ukraine Preparing For Incident ‘Worse Then Chernobyl
🎬  BBC News  |  8/17/2022  |  ⏱️ 5’06”span / 320K views
Staff at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) in Ukraine are holding drills in case of an incident some feel could be worse than Chernobyl.
Tumblr media
The ZNPP site in southeastern Ukraine is home to Europe's biggest nuclear plant and has been occupied by Russian forces since early March. The site has been the target of shelling in recent weeks with both Ukrainian and Russian forces denying their involvement in the attacks.
Tumblr media
Comment By Thomas Parkin:  One of the disturbing things is that the men at the station may not even understand the danger of being there, from reports of their occupation of the Chernobyl site the regular soldiers had no idea of Chernobyl or what happened there.  Unsurprising if the Russians feeding poor and uneducated rural conscripts into this horrible war are true.
Tumblr media
Comment By About What:   @Limedick Andrew « Ask 10 Americans or Europeans on the street about Chernobyl and at least half will remember the basics (Soviet nuclear disaster) from hearing about it and at least one will be able to tell you a fair bit more about it (uneducated operators caused it, the forced evacuations, worldwide radiation and health concerns, the Sarcophagus, etc). Being able to point it out on a map is an entirely different issue. I went to a public high school and had several Science classes that discussed Chernobyl, Three Mile Island, and several early testing mishaps like the so-called Demon Core.
Tumblr media
Owool:  While a Nuclear Reactor is actually one of the safest places on Earth, the MOMENT the highly trained staff and nuclear physicists onsite start to prepare, not plan, but prepare for something worse than the Chernobyl Accident is a cause for concern.  I dont think I am being overdramatic for this concern.
Lalo:  When I see what's happening worldwide my heart and soul feels so heavy I don't have the words to describe the feeling. If you have loved ones, hold them tight.
Tumblr media
Melissa Gallinetti:  My father in law is a retired Nuclear engineer and he said that his biggest immediate fear is that they cut what is left of the power lines and the reactor chokes because it can't release energy.
Atlantic Ocean:  This is truly terrifying if someone is stupid enough to attack or damage the reactor.
Tumblr media
Niels kjær:  It's 10 times the size of Chernobyl.  Could be dangerous!  I was working outdoors on an Island between Poland and Sweden, when Chernobyl blew up in '86.  It was Sweden ringing the alarm bells.  No word from the USSR.
Tumblr media
Mike Horn:  This absolutely baffles me 🤦🏻‍♂️. We are in the 21st century and should be working as a species, looking to the stars for opportunities. Instead, we squabble over long lost corners of old empires and risk the lives of over 1/2 the global population to fallout.  Seeing as we are already past seeing sense though...  I don’t care who’s shelling who. Any and all parties bringing nuclear threat (ballistic or otherwise) have no place in the future of our species.
Tumblr media
Mike Horn:  I believe an independent European task force needs to remove both Russian and Ukrainian forces from the vicinity regardless of what either side says.  “You might be scared of what the bully’s might do to you, but does that mean you let them continue?”.....if nuclear threat is on the table, then there is nothing more to loose. Remove them in fear of retaliation, or let them continue in fear of the consequence.

Nuclear terrorism at work: the russian military have declared their readiness to blow up the mined Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
Tumblr media
The russians make no secret of their plans and already openly blackmail the whole world, declaring the Zaporizhzhia NPP mine planting and their readiness to blow it up.
In his statement today, the head of the radiation, chemical and biological defense forces of the russian federation, major general valeriy vasyliev, who currently commands the garrison of the ZNPP, said «there will be either russian land or a scorched desert».
«As you know, we have planted mines in all the important facilities of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. And we do not hide this from the enemy. We warned them. The enemy knows that the plant will be either russian – or no one's. We are ready for the consequences of this step. And you, warriors – liberators should understand that there is no other option. And in case of receiving the most severe order, we must fulfill it with honor!»
Earlier, the representative of the press service of the Main Intelligence Department of the Ministry of Defense Andriy Yusov reported that the department has confirmed information about the mining of the ZNPP power units by russian troops.
