Welcome to Full Tilt Comics! :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hi everyone and welcome to the Full Tilt Comics Tumblr! If you aren't sure who we are, we're a queer comic making duo based out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania run by Maddie Smoyer and Kate Myers. We started this business in the spring of 2022 while we were still in high school. We've grown so much since we started and are incredibly thankful for all that we've learned. You can read our comics and learn more about us here !
Read on to see our reflections from this past year and our goals/ projects to look forward to for 2024!
Over the last year, we had some amazing opportunities and made a lot of progress, so we wanted to take a moment to reflect on all we accomplished.
We tabled at a variety of fairs including:
Young Artist Makers Market
The Vandergrift Artfest
The Pittsburgh Art Book Fair
The Pittsburgh Zine Fair
We finished:
Seven of Swords and End of the Line, the third and fourth issues of our Full-Tilt series, so we're officially over halfway through!
Diablo, which introduces the gun-slinging monster hunter Amos Flint (be on the lookout for his return!)
The first installment of the Pittsburgh Ghost Gazette (a zine about all things horror)
Various stickers, mini-zines, and pins
We have some big plans for the new year, so here's a rundown of all you can expect from Full-Tilt Comics
First and foremost, we're hoping to increase our social media presence! We'll probably be posting around once a week on our Instagram and Tumblr (more often if we have something big coming up!) so make sure to follow us to see the brilliant artwork Kate’s working on, get updates on our projects, and find out what fairs we'll be tabling at
We should be returning to many of the fairs we tabled at in 2023, and we want to get involved in more in 2024 (including maybe some outside of PA)
We're going to finish Full-Tilt and compile all seven issues into a single volume. Issue #5 (Sideshow Mortuus) is very close to being completed and will hopefully be out by the end of January, so be on the lookout!
Don't worry, finishing the series isn't the end of Full Tilt Comics! We have a ton of other projects in the works, ranging in length from an Eyeshine prequel mini zine to a full-length graphic novel. If zombie circuses weren't your thing, maybe one of our other projects will strike your interest! We haven't decided which one we'll work on next, but you can rest assured that there will be plenty to be excited about in 2024
We're looking into opening an Etsy shop to make online orders easier, but in the meantime, you can always DM or email us to place an order
Finally, we should have a biannual newsletter giving updates on upcoming events and projects. If you're interested in adding yourself to the mailing list, email [email protected]
We're going to do our best to keep you updated and meet all our goals, but please keep in mind we are full time college students, so things can get pretty busy sometimes!
Thanks everyone and Happy New Year! Looking forward to all we can accomplish in 2024 (:

In case you don't know! I keep an updated calendar of upcoming zine events in the uk up on the website. It's just had a big update, with lots of lovely stuff running over the summer.
I always encourage people to send me their zine events to add. As long as you're not changing loads for people to attend, I wanna help share it with the world.
Take a look at it here

Here's a little preview of "GREMLIN", one of the new zines I'll be debuting at Festival of the Photocopier this weekend. I'm now tabling on both Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th ☆
Hoping to bring three other new zines too! It's been a big weekend for the scanning and formatting fandom tbh…

I think I might have gotten Post Zine Fair Depression after Small Press Zine Fair on the weekend! It really filled my creative tank, and it was great to chat to other zine enthusiasts from around the state and country! But alas, every day is not a zine fair...
Here's a look at my table, and a peak at the new zines I debuted at the fair.
Zines are cool!

Printed Matter's 2022 New York Art Book Fair is next month, and the website is up with info, exhibitors, and programs: https://nyabf2022.printedmatterartbookfairs.org
This year's fair is back in New York City proper, at 548 W 22nd Street in Chelsea. There's a free block party on Saturday night, and lots of music, signings, books, graphic design, typographic goodness and friendly people throughout the whole weekend.
"Taking place in Chelsea, just around the corner from Printed Matter’s bookstore, NYABF is the leading international event for the distribution of artists’ books, offering a platform to hundreds of artists and publishers from around the world while providing visitors with new ways to discover artists’ books and explore the full breadth of the art publishing community.
This year’s Fair will feature many of the longstanding exhibitors and programs that have come to define this beloved event while debuting exciting new publishers and projects. Join us for our long-awaited return and explore four floors of exhibitors, plus free conversations and workshops, music and dance performances, exhibitions and artist-led programs, and our first-ever Block Party!" —PRINTED MATTER
We'll be on the second floor if you make it to the fair. See you there!
