so this here is auggie: semi finalized!!! halliwell's... probably? not going to be his last name but i had no clue what surname to give him so its acting as a stand in aaa
so this is the blorbo. the new bsd oc i have been working on. from the fanfic i am Struggling with. same guy from the Art a while ago. august (i like the month okay) whatever last name i decide on at a later date.

his ability is called lucy locket! i actually came up with the ability's function first, and then i found that it fit pretty well. basically its a pocket dimension accessed via the users pockets. so far it has infinite storage, but whatever is added or removed at the present moment has to have been able to fit in the pocket originally. so you cant add/remove a large waterbottle from tiny jean pockets, for example. i like to think it only works when august himself pulls something out or puts something in. so. yknow. "not a penny was there in it, only ribbon round it". hehe
hes 25 because as much as a harp on bsd i also suck with ages so i rng-ed a number between 21 and 27 chcbdj
his birthday is june 21st! stole that from james orchard halliwell (see where that came from now) phillipps, bc he was the first to record the nursery rhyme. i also think him being born on the summer solstice in june but being named august is soo funny.
forgot to add it in correctly but his height is 5'8! that's about 173 cm? i think? i rounded it up technically its only like. 172.72?
168??? pounds??? which is apparently like 76kg? look i have no clue how weights work either i just took my own weight looked up the average for an adult and made something up. dont expect it to make sense.
bloodtype is a! i thought it was weird that the blood types were mentioned at all in the character bios but then i remembered the whole stereotype thing so i just picked whatever i thought fit.
he likes goldfish (hence the socks and earrings), rice (its rice), and hats (because they are so neat)! i was thinking about funny sock patterns and then i was looking at the wiki page for catherine maria fischer (the supposed kitty fisher in the nursery rhyme) and one of her paintings had a fishbowl in it. and then i thought about yoimiya because i had been drawing her before and. yknow. he definitely does has a small hat collection, but he'd rather them not be damaged at work. theyre saved for parties and formal gatherings!
dislikes are long explanations, pollen (allergy 😔), and unpleasant textures (like bedsheets that give you the Feeling when you scratch them). he likes it when people get to the point, and im projecting my own sensory issues onto him hxjsj
moving on we have design notes!
so here's our boy.
starting with the shirt, its actually based on one of the shirts i own. it's got the solid torso and the loose sheer sleeves, and i thought that was neat! though for him i think the sleeves would be a bit more opaque, and he's wearing a vest!
as for the tie you can see i noted that it's a bit of a cross between a criss cross tie and like... a sailor tie? i know it says bolo but thats because the word i was looking for was Tie Brooch for the pendant in the middle.
the cargo shorts!!! so obviously to best use his ability august needs something with rather large pockets, but i didn't know how to add those in. initially i wanted to go with some tights or normal slacks and have him wear a hoodie, but it was kind of... eh? so i tried cargo pants but those didn't work either. so then i tried on shorts and i Realized what needed to be done fhdjjws
knee high socks! i asked what how silly we should get with them and eni said knee highs and nobody said ankle with silly patterns so i combined the two! i think the combination is really funny.
the shoes! theyre just sneakers. comfy!

One of the dumbest things I think you've ever said was that cartoon fans hate children because they don't like how certain child characters are written or because they think a reboot of a kids show is badly written. Like, you do understand there's a difference, right? Yeah, I totally want children dead or something because I children's entertainment can be better than those soulless, ugly nursery rhyme compilation videos that children are addicted to. Logic.
Cartoon fans always have a warped idea how children actually are. Because they forget WE WERE kids. Whenever they see a little kid character who is slightly overbearing and overenergetic, yknow what a little kid IS, the fandom calls the character "annoying", "brat" etc. And god forbid if a teenage character was their point of contention
I remember watching Transformers Prime and I thought Miko was my fave out of the human teens the Autobots looked after. Yet Ive seen so many fans complaining she was a rude, impulsive, bratty bitch and found her excitable attitude around the Autobots "annoying" because how DARE a 14 year old acts stupid and is excited to hang out with giant robots.
And this stems to how cartoon fans view children who are fans as well. I was in the brony fandom and I noticed whenever the show introduced more characters or spin offs for the sake of toys, a lot of bronies groaned how its so "girly" and "not what the show is" aka anything remotely marketable and feminine whatsoever. And they got mad when kids loved it cos it reminded them they're watching a girl's show. They outright pilloried G3 fans for liking such a baby's show when Friendship is Magic is literally no different than g3 outside of more consistent characters and its funnier. Heck, even when G5 came along and there was a poll of who their fave main character was and Pipp, the most feminine of the group who was a social media savant, had the least votes. Whereas Izzy, the g5 Pinkie Pie, was at no. 1. (which goes to show how cartoon fanbases are extremely biased to wacky comic relief characters with quasi-neurodivergent traits) Also I was exposed to a lot of fucked up shit, the porn of this fandom was unfiltered and incredibly easy to access on youtube and google. (this was before youtube kids was a thing) This is the same fandom that brought us Cupcakes and Fallout Equestria and Rarity's New Designs. All from a show thats about horse puppies being friends. And as for the little kids who were surrounded by this content, no wonder they grew up traumatised. Cos bronies didnt give a single pissing shit about the children. Look up brony horror stories. You'll see why.
Cartoon fandoms have this preconceived notion to muscle children out of the picture as possible so they can feel more secure watching kids shows without their parents judging them. They hate being reminded that the stuff they watch IS FOR KIDS IN THE FIRST PLACE. But the problem is 75% of media out there is made for children in mind. Star Wars, Disney, Pixar movies, Dreamworks movies, Batman, Spiderman, Marvel, Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Transformers etc.
As for the bad reboot angle, I always firmly believed the phrase "This X REBOOT RUINED MY CHILDHOOD" is always a defensive way of saying: "THIS CHILDRENS PROPERTY IS NOT IMMEDIATELY CATERING TO ME >:(" Like they treat a reboot like its an act of betrayal when its just a piece of media changing and evolving with the generations to appeal to the newer ones. If you want the same show you watched as a kid, just watch the original thing on youtube or collect dvds and merch of it. But if you want to watch this reboot, you've got to realise change is what reboots do and if you get mad at the small/big changes a reboot makes...

As long as a show doesnt push racist/sexist/bigoted or any problematic themes in their faces, its fine. If the kids love it, the reboots done its job.
And as for the quality of children's entertainment, I dont really give a shit what soulless nursery rhyme collection or sanitised fluff kids watch. We all had our mindless fluff we watched as kids and we didnt get scarred for life because of it.
Just...leave the kids alone. Just act like adults and manage your shit carefully. Let the kids enjoy what they enjoy and for the love of god DONT GET SO FUCKING DEFENSIVE OVER LIKING A CARTOON AIMED AT BABIES. ITS ONLY WEIRD WHEN YOU MAKE IT WEIRD.

OOOO NOBLE MY BELOVED
so i've actually had noble as a story for a LONG time. a long long time. however i've been extremely intimidated to write it and plan it out because scifi isn't really my... forte? i feel like it should be easy to make a scifi or a space opera but my brain just gets caught up in all the details and i never end up moving forward with them HAHA. but i'm trying to get out of that because writing is supposed to be FUN.
anyway tho, onto noble. just gonna stick this under a cut bc its LONG to ramble and spoilers or whatever bc i never have an excuse to talk about this story and ahhhh i love my son
firstly its called noble because (1) its a story about fuck the government and doing whats right and (2) its a play on noh's name, which is literally pronounced 'noble' (for the most part) when you put it all together.
in this universe earth has kind of been fucked; no one is really born on earth anymore bc the planet has gone to shit and the radiation is so bad and people who still live on the planet are usually sent there as prisoners (so earth is space australia but literally) or they're unlucky enough to be born there. noh was born on earth (though he doesn't remember this) however, he was taken in by the overarching... uh idk space police state government thing. i haven't thought about what it is too much lmao. anyway, babies are usually taken from earth if they have a good aptitude (aka they survived lmao) and since they're abandoned anyway they're indited into our FAVORITE super soldier program.
this program is called JACK and JILL.
the jack and jill program is an elite super soldier police force program where jacks are the brains and jills are the brawn. they go around enforcing laws, doing drug busts, keeping the "peace" around the galaxy etc etc. however, they always go in pairs just like the nursery rhyme jack and jill, and most jacks and jills are trained together from infancy to make sure that they're 100% in sync.
again, this is all shit noh doesn't remember, but he used to be a JILL. his JACK was a woman named amelia rottney. however something happened and he, amelia and some of their other companions (two other jack & jill units comprised of ethan summers (the jack) and iodine mary evelyn (the jill) and neso/neon (so technically speaking and i have to do more research into this to make sure that i am portraying this correctly but neso/neon are a DID system, but bc both the alter (neon) and the host (neso) operate together p well for the most part, they're the only "solo bodied" jack/jill unit. also speaking of representation, noh is mute! he mainly communicates with sign language but he does have implants; which got fucked up when he was first initially found but he eventually gets new ones but this is off topic).
but they all discovered some fucked up shit about the government and wanted to bring it to light obvs (i mean the fact that none of them knew that they were all p much stolen orphans is Bad Probably) however the government got to them first and sought to eliminate them. they all scattered p much, but noh p much sacrificed himself to let the others escape so they tortured him and erased his memory and then left him adrift in space to die. however in like a weird ass ploy to keep power they basically painted noh & co as terrorists that were trying to disrupt the peace of the cosmos, so they offered a reward/bounty for noh & co dead or alive-even though they knew they set him adrift and for all intents and purposes the government isn't looking for him he's dead.
until he's yknow. not dead. since yknow. he was found by a cargo vessel adrift and was able to be saved. tm.
so the whole story is kind of noh being on the run/trying to stay on the DL while he tries to figure out what in the sam hell is going on and then eventually reuniting with his friends and fucking this government up the ass in a bad way.
he also ends up befriending and eventually getting into a relationship with a space pirate rouge thing (i have so much worldbuilding to do its not even funny lmaooooo) named emerion jackson and idk i love their relationship a lot i rotate them in my head LMAO.
but yeah so that's the Extended Cut of what noble is about, maybe i will make this into a coherent wip intro one day LMAOOOO

yknow i have spent all day wracking my brain for a song, only with dawning horror to realize that i don’t actually associate any music with him. the only thing i can think of is daisy bell, which feels kind of like cheating since that was literally His Song in the book itself. so it’s less My Own Association and more just, remembering the actual story. so i’ll get back to this if i ever come up with another song of my own but for now i’ll wax poetic about hal + daisy bell i guess

so the hal + daisy bell thing was inspired pretty much entirely by the real computer that sang this song only a few years before 2001 aso was published. this was a huge accomplishment at the time. it makes me want to cry it’s so sweet
and so in 2001 aso this is adapted into the idea that daisy bell was basically like, the computer version of a nursery rhyme, where hal was first “growing up”/building his AI through the use of things like this. and so in the story, while dave is dismantling his memory blocks/essentially lobotomizing hal bit by bit, hal slowly reverts backwards - from the articulate “adult” AI, to singing a nursery rhyme, to basic computer functions like math and numbers, to no longer even being able to do numbers, he’s slowly taken apart. and so by having hal sing daisy bell to dave as dave dismantles him is such a sad and eerie thing. anyway here it is in the movie

in a meta way i also really appreciate associating a robot/AI character with a really old song like this. like im guilty of this myself but when you think of robots its easy to think of all like modern edm probably but to take this song from the 19th century, this jaunty little piano tune, idk i just think its neat

I have the only unique experience with learning about Lizzie Borden yeah my grandmother was from Fall River and my great grandparents are buried in the same cemetery as Borden and her parents lmao so when we went to visit once as a kid my dad was like “hey have you ever heard [the nursery rhyme]” and then yknow, scarred my brother and me for a little bit.

no screaming crying bc half of what i want to talk about is either not posted yet or spoilers for what is not posted yet. remind me later to talk about the livejournal entries and uh... way later... the scythe scene (you bet your ass im keepin that)
but ok chapter 7 dream sequence. ok #1... this was so fucking fun to write. like. no joke. ive never done anything this purposefully prose-y and full of hidden meaning. it was actually cool to go into depth describing things like i notice them in my dreams -- cause it's always like the weird specific little shit you remember, yknow?
number TWO i'm OBSESSED with this one analysis on a gifset of faith in that pink dress, and im so mad i cant find it bc its hidden in someones tags!!! but basically the reblogger talks about like faith and the idea of 'being pretty' -- like, she wants to be pretty, but it comes down to the whole idea of nature vs nurture -- does she feel like she can only be "hot" because that's what she's "meant" to be, what she *is*? and i think it mirrors the debate of being a slayer solely in power vs taking on that reponsibility that their arguments often take the form of in s3. but yeah just that idea of wanting to be desired, and how she expresses her femininity and sexuality in direct contrast to it...? yeah, i'm obsessed.
next obviously, we have the ants -- creepy-crawlies, check! gotta hit the nail on the head with the tiny weird/unsettling part of these dreams, but also, what buffy mentions about worker ants being female -- direct representation of the slayers; they start out as one or two, and then it's *all* of them. also thought it was cute and fitting to mirror a nursery rhyme with well,,,, ants marching,,, considering how the show's dream sequences often have a child-like nature and most specifically the mention of "little miss muffet" to represent dawn -- clearly premonitions of Very Important Things happen in the dreams of these two, and i didn't want to not follow through on that.
purple hyacinths are a symbol of forgiveness and i think a lot about their scene with the scythe in that sense a lot -- buffy coming to terms with sharing her power with faith as she realizes she'll be accepting the potentials as slayers too. so i knew i 100% had to mimic that conversation both in a prophetic sense and to really hammer home the metaphor -- i think the faith i'm writing, the one who is really still a work in progress in terms of how she expresses herself emotionally (very much inbetween her canon iterations of s3-s7). forgiveness is the one emotion she hasn't quite pinned down -- both giving and getting; most notably, forgiving herself. what she did to buffy looms over her in practically everything she does and it isn't something she's going to let herself forget -- and she can't forgive herself yet either. buffy offering her the scythe is i think as much a passing of the torch as it is extending an olive branch, so seeing the same thing in this representation of forgiveness in something as beautiful as a flower rather than a symbol of violence (again, it's about the duality...) felt like something that would be really cool to touch on in a prophetic dream.

i know about all of these from the insane amounts of procrastinating i did + the combined efforts of my friends to see me bawling in pain. we all knew that the genshin characters are all pretty sad/dark but most don't quite know the extent of it.
abt lisa, my friend told me that THAT is why her constellation and trademark thing is an hourglass and that the reason she's 'lazy' is because she's trying to 'slow down' time. idk if that's canon or a headcanon but it's still highly plausible and it hasn't stopped making me sad ever since. idk but i saw lisa in a new light after that.
yknow,, i once had a phase (probs still on-going) where i just got invested in nursery rhymes and literally,, every single thing targeted for children bc there's so much hidden meaning and dark themes? personally, we have a nursery rhyme in our country that goes smth about cutting someone else's head off but like yknow buttered up nice and silky. i don't know the exact words bc i don't speak the dialect but i once read smth about it in a blog.
ah well, whatever. point is. mhy better give our boys and girls some happiness or at the very least, square the fuck up bc i'm about this close to losing it altogether.
ps. the reason i replied so late? was i late? i think so? was bc i was focused in not letting my underbuilt starter team die in dragonspine. tbh i would've procrastinated a lot longer if kazuha's not knocking by the door. ugh i really should've played w my alt regularly. anw,, sorry 😞 and i probs should go to sleep soon asdhjkafkja

ummm i guess i’m always intrigued to see if ppl picked up on stuff which i think is pretty buried/kind of dependent on the fact that the pov character is an idiot bc i think some of it’s probs a bit too vague but like idk that i super mind if it is yknow?
and i’m like quadrupling down on the idea that beth and rio dont understand idioms at all (rotten egg????! famous sayings which are actually lines from nursery rhymes???! WHY DOES BETH NEVER RESPOND APPROPRIATELY TO WHAT RIO IS BABBLING ABOUT OH THAT’S RIGHT SHE’S ALSO A MORON) so practically any time i see a normal phrase im like now is there possibly a stupider and/or weirder and/or more upsetting way to phrase that. one i particularly liked was beth not being able to make ‘head or asshole’ of rio in do you like drugs (instead of head or tails). cos like. he’s an asshole, ha

The absolute correct normal amount!
i think a lot of it comes organically and’ll probs get finessed in the edit. but then like. i guess it depends what you consider symbolism? is intentional paralleling symbolic? metaphors and allegories surely count as symbolism? i mean it’s a short hop and skip down to a semiotics rabbit hole, and then words are symbols, punctuation surely is symbols! and so.... yeah, i think the absolute correct normal amount!
10. What would you change if you had it all to do again?
yourself and others and filing her nails would have proper chapter titles :( I THOUGHT THEY WERE BOTH ONE SHOTS OK :((( (idk what those chapter titles would be though, and thinking abt that mightve made the fics more streamlined, but idk that that would deffo be a change for the better tbf!)

i have such a backlog of premade yet unreleased skins bc i don’t want to just dump a thousand skins into the world at once so heres the plan.
later this week probably wednesday i ping for two nursery rhyme themed accents. i dont know if doing it right before warriors way will help or hurt but its fine.
top secret collab thing with [redacted] on saturday. just because he said he wanted to release it on saturday and i said ‘okay’. the thing will be in his shop anyway tho so i shouldnt be super involved (ill be at work also so).
veilspun armor goes out either right before flameforgers or like two weeks after depending on whether the nursery rhyme skins sell and if i decide to tweak it more.
flameforgers entry if it doesnt win during flameforgers bc yknow thats what you do.
blue guardian with castle and sword WHENEVER bc its technically a recolor of a red skin but people kept asking for a blue version. and now i have an idea to make a green one so who even knows. that one will happen when it happens.
vampire tundra will come out whenever i finish the other two vampire skins but who knows how long that will take. i still want to release them in a set.

Didn't wanna come up with a design for child Harry (yknow since he wasn't always a Phoneguy and such) so now he just has a phone head as a kid too;;;which kinda makes him look like a slightly smaller regular Harry;;;
Oh and he's not singing because I couldn't fit a speech bubble in without it looking shit whoops...guess you just get Regular Harry in a dress with a flamethrower ^-^;;

EEEEE ifndksj I have been acknowledged!! Hmmm, you could do an oversized trenchcoat that may or may not look like a cape over some overalls? The trenchcoat is obvi grey or black because it’s a trenchcoat what other colors would it be and you could do the overalls the normal dark blue jean color, yknow, to help pitch in that southern in the middle of nowhere charm~ or! You could do a torn up jean/leather/whatever jacket along with some kind of very cut up pants?? Perhaps? ofdsnjm I hope that helps somewhat!

Yeah so uhhhh Moldova time because there are so many things I should be doing right now
He really likes balloons. Give him balloons please. There’s no actual reasoning for this but I just want him to have them
Has a collection of Grimm novels, and likes reading them on trips and in bed (high tolerance for spooky scaries, yknow)
Has sung the “All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth” song before, and lives for it
His hair fits in tiny pigtails, and he only knows this because the micronations on occasion have sleepovers and he’s invited so they can make sure he eats something and you know darn well they do his hair
He’s done the “bleh, bleh bleh, I vant to suck your blood” thing because it’s cute
He likes cats, because they are furry and feel nice and they don’t steal his food unless he leaves it out
I also feel like he’d imitate a cat in how he sleeps? Lil ball of Moldova would be REALLY cute h
He’s the type to have alarms set to remember to drink water, or else he’ll be too busy and forget
He likes old nursery rhymes, and has a lot memorized
Skips when he walks a lot of the time
Also looks both ways when he crosses the road ofc because he’s so responsible and would take out the garbage for you honestly like look at him
