Mary Stockley as Ruth Ellis in Pierrepoint: The Last Hangman (2005).
Very important images that influenced my recent stories, as I mentioned, particularly "Unlucky Thirteen".

Film & TV I Think About A Lot » Eve's Bayou (1997) dir. Kasi Lemmons
"When I was your age, before I ever did the counseling, I could look at people, complete strangers, and see their whole lives so clear. But when I looked at each of my husbands, I never saw a thing. That's how it always is. Blind to my own life."

I genuinely don't know how to feel about this Princess Peach game coming out.
On one hand, Peach is deserving of her own game and own adventure, and it's been too long since she's stared in a title as the main character.
One the other hand, instead of going out into the world on an adventure and fighting a bad guy, she's putting on costumes and entering stage plays.
Her original appearance as a main character, if I am remembering correctly, she was given a wand that let her use her emotions to solve puzzles and fight people. So we've gone from an overly emotional Peach to a Peach that is dressing up in fashionable outfits.
And I get that's like, the worst way to frame both the scenarios in these games, but it's like, in a world where Princess Peach can be a very feminine badass, she can carry the same energy she has in titles where she's playable alongside Mario into her own games instead of having mechanics couched in stereotypes about women.
The concept with the stage plays, and the costumes, is a novel gimmick, and I always enjoy experimentation in a long running franchise. It's just unfortunate, given the history of the character, and that this is her second solo outing. I don't think I'd be thinking about it this much or be this conflicted if this was her third outing, and they had given her a more traditional Mario game concept in between her two solo outings.

antichrist is a good movie that could've been great if it had been directed by someone who isnt so visibly, viscerally weird about women

i know this is a weird reaction to have to netflix persuasion, which has probably stockholm syndromed me after watching all but 30 minutes of it
but i find dakota johnson (whom i have always liked) charismatic enough at just talking through the classic romantic plight of an iconic literary woman in millennial slang that now i kind of want her to play this exact same character throughout the entire literary canon
DO JANE EYRE NEXT! BE ANNE OF GREEN GABLES! BE MISS HAVISHAM! WHY NOT!!!!!!

Angela Lansbury!!!! She is indeed the persnickety Aunt March in this version of Little Women
she's got a parrot that's a little too friendly from how Jo reacts to it
Aunt March - Well we can choose who we fall in love with.
... aro vibes tbh, because allos definitely don't see falling in love as a choice

Sheyla Shehovich as Irma Grese in Pierrepoint: The Last Hangman (2005)
Like I mentioned before, this scene also influenced my writing, particularly the story "The Murderous Brat".

Why I have no sympathy for men being dumped because of the Barbie movie:
Earlier this evening I was driving on the highway to head to my writers group. I needed to change lanes to get to my exit and proceeded to do so, enjoying the scenic ride. That is until a car horn starts and continues to blast behind me.
I turn to look and a giant truck has appeared behind me (I honestly didn’t see it when I went to turn). And because the truck continued at its breakneck speed (while still blaring its horn at me, causing me to get even more flustered), I had to speed up to avoid getting rammed because another car was already coming up behind me in my original lane. But my car is little and old, and can’t go 0 to 60 in 0.3 seconds, so the truck continued to blast its horn at me the whole time I’m trying not to cause an accident.
I finally make it to my exit without crashing into anyone, but then my stomach sinks as I see the truck now riding my tail as I get off the exit. Now I’m terrified this person is going to ram me out of spite.
The exit joins up to the town road, but you have to yield to oncoming traffic, so I do. The truck then suddenly swerves out from behind me, and as they rush by, the driver and his passenger flip me off as they scream profanities that consist of female slurs (which originally were just plain old words until some man decided to make them curses because they happened to be female centered terms).
Now I’m really shaken up and am forced to drive behind them until the road splits into two. But horror of all horrors, I end up almost right next to them at a red light. I can feel them staring at me and I’m now scared out of my mind.
Thankfully, a police car with its lights and sirens on drove past us, and that seemed to cool the trucktosterones down because they peeled off into the next side street and I didn’t see them again.
All this to say, it’s probably men like these that are getting dumped because of the Barbie movie, and I’M GLAD.
