Pollen Transport in Nature: A Tale of Two Strategies 🌼🐝🦋
In the intricate world of plant reproduction, pollen's journey unfolds through diverse mechanisms. Depending on the species, some plants employ biotic pollinators such as bees, butterflies, or birds to facilitate the vital exchange of pollen from one flower to another. In contrast, others entrust their genetic material to the whims of abiotic factors like the wind, relying on its gentle embrace to disperse pollen far and wide. These strategies exemplify nature's remarkable adaptability, ensuring the continuation of life in a myriad of ways. 🌼
Out of all the animals I've studied and illustrated, dolphins have left the strongest impression on me. Although I didn't know much about them at first, I'm now captivated by their unique shapes and vibrant colors. Learning about these creatures has been a truly delightful experience.
Long-Beaked Common Dolphin
The Long-Beaked Common Dolphin has been a topic of controversy in the past, as it was initially believed to be the same species as the Short Beaked Common Dolphin. However, they are now recognized as distinct species within the same family (Delphinidae). These dolphins are likely the most widespread species in the world.
This particular subspecies is exclusively found close to the shores of Africa and is larger and heavier than its counterparts that are found in various locations around the world.

Red Winged Blackbird | Kehoe Beach. This perched red winged blackbird was very nicely cooperative for this photo. This particular section of the trail was thick with them but this guy was the only one who let me get close and stick around long enough for a shot. Thanks buddy. World Wildlife Day is a reminder to everyone about the importance of biodiversity and the need to protect it. We can all do our part to help protect wildlife by protecting what’s important to them, such as forests and rivers. National Public School Kudlu wishes everyone a very Happy World Wildlife Day!
MAX. As many of you know, my last day visiting the Yellowstone area, turned out to not be in the park itself, due to flooding and landslides - a natural disaster the area hasn’t seen in a great many years. I did have to flee the Paradise Valley, but it gave me an opportunity to visit a grizzly bear rescue near Bozeman.
Max was born on Unimak Island, Alaska. He was orphaned and found surrounded by dogs in a village. Some kind people rescued him, and ultimately the Montana Grizzly Encounter was asked to give him a home.
When I saw Max, he took my breath away. Rarely have I seen such a stunningly beautiful animal. I was mesmerized. I could have watched him for days, but due to the weather, I had to run grab my things and get to Bozeman for a flight. But someday, I very much hope to see him, and other bears at the rescue, again. Many thanks to people who care enough to rescue animals, see them to safety, and give them permanent homes.

On International Orangutan Day on August 19, we show our support for orangutans. This day is meant to inspire people to take action to safeguard this amazing animal in the wild. It’s no surprise that orangutans are intellectual because they share 97 % of their D.N.A. with humans. This could explain why the term ‘orangutan’ means ‘forest person’ in English. 🦧
