actually on this trip i went to The Eagle after being at some drag show in Arlington with some crazy redneck from Virginia who picked me up at the hostel
the hostel owner was some creepy dominant bugs bunny gay type (all americans are some creepy dominant bugs bugs type) who i believed yanked on my leg hairs to prove who the REAL BUGS BUNNY WAS and he definitely was the real bugs bunny as they always are
anyhow he was super grody and i almost left the hostel because of him
and then at the Eagle later that night i drunkenly made like 10 passes at this senior citizen in leather who i just wanted to go home with to Alexandria, Virginia and have sex with all night
but he decided to start driving me back to my hostel
so i started screaming at him with the passenger door open about how this is fucking bullshit and The Eagle is the McDonald's of Leather Bars
i don't like being manipulated or just dumped off i dunno
it wasn't cool of me but i was really looking forward to what i thought was gonna be a hookup and a morning in Alexandria
the rest of the trip was cool and i got Greek at Murayo and Russian at Russian House (as the only customer, the place up on a hill)
and whatever the fuq else i wanted to do i guess
the cherry blossoms were in bloom
and i remember writing a bunch of crap online about how all these americans from kansas or whatever parts of the south made the cherry blossoms reek of Lays potato chips the whole thing
i mean all these sort of incidents were sort of 'awakenings' as to how crummy this country actually is
becaues i kept trying to make the best of it
but you know how the reality of what Americans are and how they act and how shitty everything is 'planned' out if you can even call it that
keeps intervening with those trying to make the best of a bad situation
i believe i've been to Washington D.C. four times now
once just randomly driving in after visitng friends in NYC
once when my band played there and some politician or lobbyist stuffed $75 in my pocket and said i played guitar like Jimi Hendrix
this trip
and then once i think riding up from Charlotte, was it? or was i there for a layover for a flight and saw some museums.... yes it was that, wasn't it
so only 4 times
would i go a 5th time?
i dunno, not any time soon. i don't know if there's a whole lot left to DC that i haven't seen which is a problem with a lot of places... i'd rather go to Jackson, MI or Battle Creek, MI or Grand Rapids, MI or Ferndale, MI or even spend a night in Carbondale, IL

In 1965, the Sonderling Broadcasting Corporation bought WOL and changed the format from easy listening to rhythm and blues. That year, WOL also became the first rhythm and blues station in Washington to have public affairs programming.
"No other medium in the city had WOL's influence and credibility among black Washingtonians from 1965 to about 1975...With finger-popping, hand-clapping and foot-stomping, they were the broadcasters of gospel-influenced, inner city culture," The Washington Post observed (12/2/1979).

Reflections Of Mr. Bryan
January 28, 1908
Bryan has placed a mirror in front of the window which should look out onto Washington D.C. On the floor, there is a suitcase labelled, W.J. Bryan with a tag that reads To Washington D.C.
The caption reads - "Bryan In Washington (Raising the Window Shade): 'Well, Washington Certainly Looks Like Bryan To Me!'"
On January 28, the New York Times reported that Bryan felt so sure of his nomination as the Democratic candidate for president that he had already prepared his platform.
