The Ghost was a modified VCX-100 light freighter owned by the Twi'lek Hera Syndulla that was used by the Spectres rebel cell during the Age of the Empire. As part of the rebellion, the Ghost saw actions on numerous missions and skirmishes against the forces of the Galactic Empire. The Ghost also had an auxiliary vessel called the Phantom that could double as both a shuttle and a starfighter. Following the Phantom's destruction at Reklam Station, the Spectres obtained a replacement shuttle in the form of the Sheathipede-class transport shuttle Phantom II.

Hera = mom
well, ao3's broken for me, so here I am posting my Rebels shit 'cause of the latest Ahsoka episode.
WE GOT OUR BOY (i was going to have here that one GIF from goblet of fire but couldn't find it. well.)
here's those ideal circumstances we will never have in series but always have in our heads. enjoy reunion of Hera and her eldest son.
He could feel his anticipation like it was coursing through his veins instead of blood. It burned inside of him, as if it was a small sun, fit into his chest and his very eyes shined brighter with this glow of unpatiened happiness.
It was selfish of him, of course. He felt so much, that every jedi of old would call him a failure.
Well, Kanan would be proud.
Ezra was standing in the cockpit of Ahsoka's ship, glued into place, as he watched familiar views move beside them. Even stars, so different there, looked like they glimmered welcoming him home. Ezra could feel tears forming somewhere in his eyes, air stuck in his throat.
This pure, overwhelming happiness, in which he was caught up for a short moment, Ezra knew was soon to fade. But Sabine's eyes, watching him closely, her smile, told him it was alright to be a happy dumbass for a moment. Even, maybe, for a while. She was there to support him, as she always did.
Ahsoka was speaking, giving the codes and securing their landing, but Ezra could not find himself composed enough to listen. It was like he was a kid again - not that man he grew up to be in Rebellion, and all those lonely years on the witches' planet, but a small child on Lothal, who was just given the best gift any child could wish for.
"Ahsoka? Are you there?"
Ezra's eyes darted to the communication device and his breath would be caught if only he had been breathing for the last minute.
"Greetings, General Syndulla," smiled Ahsoka, squinting on her companions. "I think it is for the best if you meet us in the angars."
"Ezra", Ezra started, hearing Sabine's quiet whisper. "Breathe."
Ezra nodded, a bit frantically, and took a deep breath. Sabine took one with him, very obvious so he could see it. Ezra huffed a little laugh and Ahsoka smiled, looking at them.
"I brought your kids."
***
Ezra was feeling like he was about to burst. Sabine was hovering around him, never too far, like she was afraid to let him go of her eyesight, but would never admit it. He could understand that - he was doing the same, up until this one moment, where everything around demanded his attention, otherwise it would be gone. Ezra was being torn apart by the very world around him, he wanted to go and hug every one person who looked vaguely familiar, he wanted to go and touch every ship that had any resemblance to the coridors he saw in his dreams for the last decade. It was all so unreal, and he needed to see, to feel every thing, to prove himself that it wasn't his optimistic hope that was keeping him alive for all those years.
Ezra took another breath, when Sabine moved closer, lightly brushing his hand with her fingers to catch his attention. He looked at her, still overwhelmed. Sabine watched his eyes closely and smiled again.
"Ready?"
Ezra smiled.
"Always has been."
Ahsoka walked out first, Sabine after her, but Ezra hesitated a bit. He needed to make this step - one step and it all is real. Not one of his dreams, composed of Force and imagination, but firm and steady reality.
"Here we go..." he whispered under his breath, taking a step towards Sabine, who was waiting for him on the ramp.
"Need a hand?" she smiled, watching him walk, and Ezra huffed a laugh back.
"Nah, pretty sure my legs're fine." His voice was a bit off, however. Because there, a handful meters away, stood another ship. Big and old, somewhere renewed, somewhere still chipping paint like it was on repair after a bit too harsh flight. VCX-100 light freighter it was - modified, of course, painted differently, and Ezra knew for a fact that if it needed to go anywhere undetected it would.
"Ghost," he breathed out, moving towards it, enchanted. Sabine followed him, still smiling.
"It had a few new modification since you were gone," she said quietly, watching as his fingers brush against painted metal. Ezra stood there, embracing the feeling of cold surface causing light vibration of memory in his very being.
"I feel like it hasn't changed a bit," he muttered in awe, turning to Sabine. She laughed quietly, letting him have this moment.
"Oh trust me, it has." she smiled. "You can ask-"
"SABINE!"
They both turned their heads sharply on the sound of the voice, and Sabine cringed a bit, like a kid who was caught by their parent.
"Hey, Hera..." she waved, walking into the light from the Ghost's shadow in which they stood.
Ezra once again forgot how to breathe. It was becoming a bad habit he had to deal with later, but at that moment he stood under the familiar hull of Ghost, and it felt like ship was welcoming him too, covering him, like a big animal. And Ezra stood there, watching with his widely opened eyes, as familiar figure, half-relieved, half-furious, was fastly walking towards Sabine.
"You are in such big trouble, young lady!" Hera's voice echoed in his ears, bringing back so many memories they threatened to drown him. However, Hera brought Sabine close, hugging her hard before continuing her rant. Sabine used this chance to look back at Ezra and call him over with a nod.
Ezra felt like Ghost let him walk from under it, as if it had a wing under which it hid this boy, who once lived there. Moving to light felt like he was crossing some invisible line, that was keeping him alone for last ten years, and he finally wasn't.
He didn't know what to say, when Hera turned around and saw him, freezing in place with her mouth agape. So he just smiled at her.
She was eyeing him, head to toe, before finally moving closer and putting her hands on his shoulders first, then his cheek. He leaned into the sensation, as a kid who came home after cold winter walk.
"Ezra..." Hera breathed out. "It's you, it's... It's really you..."
She touched his hair, his scar, his clothes, and he could only smile.
"Hi, Hera."
In his mind this word had no other meaning - it was that person, who cared about him, who would protect him from anything, who loved him even when he was the most annoying rascal you could find on the Outer Rim. It was "Hera". It was so close to "mother".
Her lips and lashes were quivering, her fingers grip his shoulders. She looked up at him - was he taller than her? he forgot. - and let out a watery laugh.
"You smell horrible."
"I know," he laughed back, shrugging. "Ten years of surviving in different galaxy do that to people."
She shook her head lightly before pulling him in a tight hug.
"I'm sorry, Ezra, I'm so sorry..." she muttered, petting his hair. He only shook his head in turn, before answering.
"It's okay. It wasn't you, who made me go there," he let out a quiet laugh. "I'm so happy so see you. I missed you so much."
She pulled back a bit, blinking her tears away and looked at him once more.
"You grew up so much," Hera whispered and her voice sounded strangled. "We all missed you, Ezra, you don't even know. And I'm so proud of you, my boy, I'm so happy to have you back."
He laughed again, like it was all he could do - relief was shining in him, making him want to laugh like it was the end of the world. And then he would inevitably cry. So when he felt tears escape his eyes, he was not surprised. Before he could wipe them away, Hera raised her palm, put it on his scarred cheek and wiped them with her thumb.
"Welcome home, Ezra..."
He smiled again, before letting Hera pull him into another hug.

Tumblr media
You’d sorta known that one day, you’d defect from the Empire. You weren’t there for any purpose other than trying to get to Vader, so of course someday you’d leave, one way or another. It was to be somewhat expected.
What you never could have foretold was that you’d be commandeering a ship and defecting with Darth Vader.
Truthfully, it’s not like you really considered how it’d end. You’d tell Vader that he had a son, and then what? He’d go on a scavenger hunt with the full might of the Empire behind him? He’d kill you for suggesting such a thing? Really, this was the best ending. There were countless others that would have been terrible.
“Do we have a course set, my lord?” You ask as you approach the cockpit of the ship. He’d stolen a VCX-100 Light Freighter, a ship meant for cargo but suited for distance and defense. It had two turrets and two sleeping quarters, and if you’re meant to search the galaxy for a child while running from the Empire, you’d likely need both. Plus, it only needs a crew of two people, which is all you have.
“No more ‘lord’,” Vader answers quickly, his helmet and cape thrown across the co-pilot’s chair. “I’m not ready for. . . the other one, yet, but I’m no Darth. Not anymore.”
You let that hang in silence, watching him in his reflection on the front viewport.
“And yes. I’m setting us a course for beyond the outer rim, where the Empire won’t have the resources to come across us. Once we’re in hyperspace, you’re telling me everything you know.”
“Right.”
No longer a Darth? Is that really all it took to get him to renounce the dark entirely?
Not really wanting to touch the cape and helmet of Darth Vader, almost fearing the bloodstains that may soak the fabric and durasteel, you lean against the back of the copilot chair as the ship jumps into hyperspace. There’s certainly more tug than there would have been if you were sitting, but you hold on with little issue.
You haven’t been in hyperspace in a while. It’s as beautiful as you remember it; blues and whites swimming around the ship, swirling the galaxy together into one singular blur. It takes a moment for you to break your eyes away, and you only do as Vader stands from the pilot’s chair and passes by you, but pauses in the threshold of the cockpit.
“Coming?” he asks, and you follow without a word.
Behind the cockpit of the VCX-100, which Vader hasn’t mentioned an actual name of, there’s a thin hallway. It follows from the cockpit, branches off to the sleeping quarters of the two crewmates, the pilot’s being on the portside. Halfway back, it splits into a bit of a small loft space, a circular pathway that surrounds the trapdoor and ladder down to the cargo bay, through which you could reach the weapon’s turret at the bow of the ship. Breaking off from the same space on either side are the ramp extensions, and avoiding both of these leaves only the passenger lounge in the back, which has thresholds for both the fresher and the stern turret. The passenger lounge, too, has a data table, and that’s where Vader stands when he stops walking.
“Tell me what you know of my son,” he says, his arms crossed over his chest. Illuminated in the blue glow of the data table, and without his helmet, he strikes you again as looking so much like the Jedi hidden in his heart. Was it just the knowledge that someone of his old life was alive that brought him back? No, it can’t be, because he must’ve known that Obi-Wan is alive. . .
“His name is Luke,” you begin, and you don’t see him flinch. “He’s probably about ten years old.”
“He’d have to be,” he says with a bit of a nod.
“I know he’s grown up on one planet, his whole life. I. . .” You cringe slightly, looking down briefly before meeting his eyes again. “I don’t know which one it is.”
“How do you know he’s alive if you don’t know where he is? How many people know of my son?”
“He’s being watched over by a Jedi, one I spoke with briefly,” you answer, diligently, like answering to a superior. “From what I could gather, Luke lives a normal life. I believe he’s being protected; I doubt anyone else knows.”
Vader goes very quiet. He stares down at the data table, his face blank, and you don’t dare to say a word until he untangles whatever he’s wrestling with. The soft humming of the ship and the drone of hyperspace are all that echo around you for a few long heartbeats.
“Who’s watching over him?” Vader asks, sternly yet softly, as though terrified of the answer, but enraged by the question.
“Your old master,” you answer, thinking that that would soothe him. “Kenobi.”
Vader doesn’t move. He stands stock still, like a statue, as though the news shocked him so deeply that he couldn’t do anything more than breathe.
“Why would Kenobi have my son,” Vader growls, narrowing his eyes without a single bit of curiosity in his tone. He’s not asking the question to you, he’s asking it to the force, and angrily. You see his fist clench, and note that it’s his right hand, the cybernetic one. What is he thinking about?
“I don’t know,” you say, moving as little as possible. He may have abandoned his status as a Sith lord, and he may have blue eyes, but you know what this man has done. You know what he’s capable of. “He spoke with sadness, when I talked to him. I haven’t opened myself to the Force in years, but it sounded like. . . it sounded like he was haunted.”
“By me.”
“By regret,” you correct, lifting your chin. “I think he blames himself for what happened to you, whatever terrible things drove you here. I think he wishes he could’ve protected you better, so instead, he protects Luke.”
“So Luke is safe?”
“Kenobi talked about him like he’s having a happy childhood.”
Vader says nothing again, and you wait for his next question, knowing that he’s going to have one eventually. You’re not wrong, it just takes a few seconds.
“If you contacted him, we can find him again.”
“Sorry,” you say with a grit of your teeth. “I destroyed that comm before joining the Empire, and Kenobi found me, not the other way around.”
“So we’re completely in the dark.”
“Entirely. You’d probably have an easier time finding them than I would, considering you at least know Kenobi.”
“Then we’ve got our work cut out for us.” Vader pauses, his gaze wandering the data table for a moment as he considers before lifting his chin.“So Luke doesn’t live with Kenobi directly?”
“No, he’s being raised with a family.”
“So Obi-Wan had to have found a family that he trusts. That’s where we start.”

My love for the Ghtroc Industries Class 720 Freighter, that void angel of the galaxy far far away, is… not exactly well-documented, but I have posted about it! But there are also other cool light freighters you can use if you don't want to just default to the tired old YT-1300.
Tumblr media
Our first specimen is actually pretty famous if you grew up with Star Wars in the 90s. It's the Corellian HWK-290 Light Freighter, the most famous craft of its type being the Moldy Crow, which ferried one Kyle Katarn on his early missions for the Rebel Alliance and beyond. Gorgeous. It just looks like a proper space ship, doesn't it?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But what if you just can't help but crave that familiar saucer shape while still wanting something a bit more original? Well it turns out that Corellian Engineering Corporation made a bunch of other ships in the YT series! Here's a couple that, again, the 90s kids will know. The YT-2000, exemplified by the Otana, flown most famously by Ace Azzameen. And who could forget the YT-2400, made famous by Dash Rendar's Outrider? There's also a whole bunch of others!
I left out the VCX-100 (Ghost) and the Dynamic Class (Ebon Hawk) because I think pretty much everyone knows those.
But what all of these lack compared to the Ghtroc Industries Class 720 Freighter, is that there isn't really a famous one of those. Sure, Luke had one in that one book, but it was pretty much just for ferrying his X-Wing. So if you're in the market for a crummy space truck, look no further than the trusty Class 720, and make yours the ship of its kind!

A guide to galactic ships: VCX-100 (aka "The Ghost")
Humans are not designed to live in a vacuum. We can’t handle extreme temperatures, the lack of oxygen, and the massive amounts of radiation (and of course space whale semen which apparently makes up 25% of the mass of the universe, the more you know).
Tumblr media
This is why space travel is pretty terrifying if you think about it, especially if your ship has no shields, minimal life support on board, and a very thin layer of Transparisteel protecting you from certain death. But that’s a TIE fighter, what actual ships are well designed for space travel you might ask, what ship I would recommend you purchase if say you’re a young family with children and you want to keep them safe while traveling the very dangerous hyperspace lanes. Today we’ll look at the freighter class of starships.
Tumblr media
Freighters are the backbone of the Outer Rim economy, especially on planets that aren’t populated enough to encourage visits from large interstellar cargo ships. Freighters usually come bare-bones from the factory and then each, let’s call them “small business operators” will modify their empty ships with an assortment of weapons attachments, hyperdrive upgrades, secret muggling compartments, heavy armor plating, and of course, some additional shielding. It’s really up to the user to decide what their ship to look like. Popular opinions will most likely point towards the YT-1300 as the safest or best ship in its class but I actually believe that the Millennium Falcon is an aberration. I like the idea of modifying my ship with a bunch of aftermarket parts but that’s also what makes this class of ship so unreliable, and the Millennium Falcon is the poster child of unreliable third-party components and it doesn’t even have an escape pod so minus a point for safety. Instead of choosing the obvious ship in this case, I want to look at another engineering marvel made by Corellian Engineering Corporation, the VCX-100 light freighter.
Tumblr media
At only 43.9 meters, it was on the smaller side for this class of ships and if you’re going to fly around in a civilian ship that is not designed for survival, choosing a ship that is smaller and more nimble is a good idea. The VCX-100 has 2 main engines and 2 secondary engines for redundancy, which is incredibly important in space travel because being stranded in deep space without a hyperdrive is basically a death sentence. It also had several laser cannons onboard, including several point defense turrets along with two torpedo launchers for larger targets. It also added an all-important intact escape pod in case things go south (adding a point for safety) and it is also hyperdrive equipped as well, making this ship one of the safest ships in its class.

What sort of stuff does danger leader do when he’s not on missions? Got a little space garden? Or maybe something more artistic?
Huh. No one's ever assked me about my hobbies before.
Don't make fun me of for it, but I actually like putting together model starships. Wanted to be a pilot since I can remember, life-giver thought I was a little obsessed. My first job was as a transsport pilot working for CorDuro! They ... turned out to be corrupt ...
Anyway, right now I'm working on a VCX-100 light freighter. I have a friend who pilots one. Maybe you've heard of her. She's a pretty famous pilot herself. Hera Syndulla's her name.
Originally designed by the Corellian Engineering Corporation, it's 43.9 meters long, 32.4 meters wide, 14.5 meters high, and has a max atmospheric speed of 1,025 kilometers per hour!
Its got a class 2 hyperdrive and a class 14 as backup! The coolest thing about it is the 2 CEC dual laser turrets. Caan never be too careful.
I digress. I think.
Still need to add the ventral plating, then I'll be finished.
Sorry for being a nerd.

The Ghost was a modified VCX-100 light freighter owned by Hera Syndulla. Instrumental in the beginning of the Rebel Alliance, Syndulla and the crew of the Ghost performed many anti-Imperial operations. The Ghost had an auxillary craft called the Phantom. The ship was as resilient and tenacious as its crew.

Hello there, vod! Here to bother you with an ask-- if or when you have a car, will it be named? If so, what's the name?
General Kenobi, vod!! You are never bothering me!! I actually got excited when I saw I had an ask from you!! I actually already have an SUV—she’s a Honda Pilot (perfect for me 😉) her name is The Ghost! I affectionately call her “first love” and pet her often

A Message In A Bottle
By LadyWren7
DO NOT COPY/REPOST!!
Rating: General Audience
Notes: Hello! Here's another romantic Kanera fic for the soul, hope you enjoy!😍 I definitely recommend listening to the song (A Message In A Bottle by Taylor Swift) before you read this, as I incorporated many elements of the song into this fic!
AO3 link
It had been ages since they'd last seen each other. The daughter of Ryloth, Hera Syndulla and jedi padawan Caleb Dume had only met once, yet they loved each other deeply.
Over the years they wrote letters to one another, and since they were forever at a distance they could only hope they were received. They always were, though time was a difficult and often frustrating circumstance.
When they were younger they exchanged letters as pen-pals, but as they matured into young adults they soon developed into love letters, ones that would cause the reader's heart beat just a bit faster every time they opened the envelope.
It was a shame they had to burn them once they finished reading. For the daughter of Ryloth could not be caught sending love letters to a jedi, and a jedi padawan could certainly never be caught having a romantic attachment.
That's the main reason they wrote letters and sent them in crates. Devices such as comlinks and holopads left a history, one that could easily be discovered and revealed to the wrong people if found, and packages such as crates could easily disguise the letters as cargo.
This left a section of most of their letters concerning their appearances. They would often
describe their appearances after any changes, and in their darkest moments would ask if the other would still love them after the years that had passed, to which the other would never hesitate to answer 'of course I'll still love you.'
Crate after crate, and burned letter after burned letter, the distanced lovers only grew more impatient to see one another again.
That's when a miracle happened.
Hera had finally saved enough money for the Corellian VCX-100 light freighter she'd always wanted, and it just so happened that her neglecting father was going to be off-planet for a couple of weeks.
She wrote to him on the matter almost immediately and sent it away with the quickest carrier. She needed to know if he could reunite with her, and maybe even run away with her, though she didn't get that bold in the letter.
Caleb wrote back as soon as he'd finished reading the letter. Yes he could find a way to reunite with her, and yes, oh God yes, would he be willing to throw everything away just to be with her.
They planned to reunite at a run-down, unpopular cantina on a shabby little planet called Gorse. In three days time, they packed their things and set course for the most nerve-wracking trip of their lives.
Reuniting with the one they loved most.
Wholeheartedly trusting the other wouldn't stand them up, or leave them because of their new appearance, each landed simultaneously at different landing bays.
Hera's hands shook furiously as she shut off The Ghost and payed the landing fee. Caleb couldn't stop the feeling of millions of butterflies fluttering around within his stomach, all while hoping he didn't look too awkward.
Once Caleb stepped inside the cantina, the owner gave him a friendly wave and got him situated in a booth near the back. As soon as he was seated the older man playfully smacked Caleb's shoulder, "You look nervous boy, meeting up with a girl or something?"
Caleb shifted awkwardly, "Yeah... Something like that."
The owner shook his head, "Ah, I've seen this a million times, I'm sure you'll do great, champ. Name's Okadiah by the way, shout if you need anything!" He yelled as he made his way back to the counter. Caleb gave an awkward thumbs up.
Jeez what was that? He thought as he facepalmed, You're twenty three years old and you don't know how to- oh kriff that's sweaty, "Hey could you get me a nap-"
He froze.
The door had just opened to reveal the most beautiful Twi'lek he'd ever seen. Was she glowing? Or was that just him?
Suddenly the whole room was silent, even Okadiah gawked as Hera slowly scanned the room for Caleb.
Forcing his legs to get up and move, Caleb ran to the entrance, bumping into a few waiters and almost tripping over an unconscious Rodian's foot.
After what felt like an obstacle course, he made it. Standing in front of her now, in her glowing essence, he felt like the happiest man in the galaxy.
He was relieved to discover she felt the same as a affectionate smile formed on her gorgeous face.
They had spent ten long, agonizing years without each other, and now the wait was finally over.
They were both dying to say something but didn't know if the other wanted to speak first, after a few moments they decided to just go for it.
"H-hey."

The Ghost is a Modified Corellian Engineering Corporation VCX-100 light freighter, owned and captained by Hera Syndulla. The main operational base of the Spectre Rebel cell, the Ghost was an important part of the early formation of the Rebel alliance against the Empire. It saw action in key battles and operations including the Battle of Atollon, the Liberation of Lothal and the Battle of Scarif. Many years later the Ghost answered the call to arms against the First Order, joining the Battle of Exegol as part of the Resistance Fleet.
