日本職棒近況未來搶先看
日本職棒火腿鬥士隊今年遷移到新球場ES CON FIELD HOKKAIDO，掀起不少的話題，3月30日在北海道北廣島進行2023年開幕戰，也是新球場的歷史性首戰，湧進了31,092名觀眾。加上火腿球團邀請遷移到北海道之後的3名監督Trey Hillman、梨田昌孝與栗山英樹到場擔任嘉賓，帶給日本火腿隊球迷無限的美好回憶，更由WBC冠軍的日本隊監督栗山英樹擔任首位開球來賓，別具歷史意義，新球場的造勢有一個不錯的開始。不過慶祝行情僅止於前3戰平均超過3萬人，自此之後出現下滑跡象。4月16日對西武21,725人勉強守住2萬人關卡，4月18日對千葉羅德的比賽就跌破2萬人，只有16,606名觀眾。4月20日本季首度完封勝擊敗對手，但觀眾人數再下探到15,816人。儘管因為是平日比賽，不過人數只有開幕當時的大約一半，加上開季才剛過三週左右的時間就迅速下滑，更是一大警訊。球場的交通問題之外，日本火腿隊的戰績低迷、球隊正值重建期也是無法凝聚球迷的主因。截至4月23日為止，日本火腿隊6勝14敗在太平洋聯盟墊底，也在剛結束的對樂天金鷲三連戰以1勝2敗輸掉系列賽之後已經落後2場勝差。隨著戰績在下位「獨走」，才剛開季不到一個月就逐漸被其他球隊拉開，監督新庄剛志承受的壓力也會與日俱增。新庄剛志去年在一片驚呼聲中接掌兵符，華麗性以及話題性確實無庸置疑，不過終究戰績長期不佳、球星出走後銜接不上還是會影響球迷的熱情。2017年之後日本火腿隊除了2018年之外，最近6年之中有5年是聯盟的B級球隊，其中近4年連續B級，去年是相隔9年之後再度墊底。今年如果再墊底，就是繼1974-1975年之後，相隔48年之後再度苦嘗連續兩年墊底的慘狀。新庄剛志監督再能製造話題，也必須先正視眼前戰績低迷的問題。

"I felt like he was just a little bit too excited about seeing me miss," James said afterward, declining to name Hillman when asked who caught his attention. "He was really excited about me missing that shot. A little bit more extra than I would have liked. But he's got to root for his team, obviously. And he was, he showcased that.
"So I knew I had another quarter, and the fourth quarter's my favorite."

Adrian Beltre is available in trade, unless he isn’t
Tuesday’s Say Hey, Baseball tries to sort out the Adrian Beltre rumors.
The Red Sox and Phillies would like to trade for Adrian Beltre to help their push toward the postseason. The Rangers have made Adrian Beltre available to trade before the July 31 deadline, since Texas is 17 games out of first place in the American League West despite going 8-2 in their last 10 games.
Well, that’s true depending on which report you read, anyway. Evan Grant reported as much two days ago, saying that Beltre as well as a pair of relievers were being offered up before trade deadline season truly kicks off, given the Rangers’ place in the standings. However, there’s a conflicting report from Jeff Wilson, also from two days ago, suggesting that the Rangers haven’t committed to the idea of dealing Beltre yet: they might be testing the waters, but nothing is fully mapped out in that regard.
Here’s the thing: Beltre is a pending free agent, and he’s still productive, and those things make him a tantalizing piece to dangle in front of contenders over the next month-plus. However, the Rangers would also like Beltre to still be around in 2019, and don’t necessarily want to cut off their relationship with him with a trade if it is going to hamper their ability to bring him back. So, Texas will likely trade Beltre, but they’ll need to get enough of a return back to justify that move.
This could also just all be the Rangers’ attempt at gaining some leverage in trade talks, too: the market has moved more and more towards prioritizing service time over everything else, and with Beltre under contract for just a few months, he’s a rental who will likely bring back a little something instead of what he might have in this same situation, had it occurred four or five years ago. With that in mind, leaking to the world that Beltre isn’t a guarantee to be dealt because you might want to keep him for yourself should help out, if only a little bit.
Like with Yu Darvish last summer, Beltre is going to end up being traded. He might not come back to Texas whether he’s traded or not, considering he’ll be 40 years old in 2019, the Rangers are in a pseudo-rebuild waiting for all their young players to produce, and Beltre is still, as of now, without a World Series appearance despite 21 years in the game. Yes, the Rangers will trade Beltre, and it shouldn’t be too much of a process even with his 10-and-5 rights in the mix. They just need everyone to think it won’t be so easy.

Ex-Chicago Cubs prospect thriving in 2nd full season at home
SEOUL, April 4 (Yonhap) — Former Chicago Cubs prospect Kim Dong-yub is thriving in his second full season at home, as he continues to establish himself as one of the premier sluggers in the domestic league.
The SK Wyverns outfielder launched two home runs against the Kia Tigers in their Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) regular season game Tuesday. After helping the team to a breezy, 13-3 victory, Kim leads the KBO with six home runs in eight games. Kim is one ahead of two SK teammates: Jamie Romak and Choi Jeong.
Both of Kim’s homers were solo shots, which gave him a league-high 16 RBIs.
Kim, 27, spent two years in Japan after graduating from a Korean middle school. He returned home to finish high school here and then signed with the Chicago Cubs in 2009.

He never played in the majors, reaching only as high as Single-A in 2012. He returned to South Korea the following year.
Under the KBO rules, players who sign their first professional contracts outside South Korea must sit out for two years before joining the league here. And it was at the 2015 draft that the Wyverns extended Kim a lifeline.
In 2016, Kim spent most of his time in the Futures League — the KBO’s minor league — but did hit .336 with six home runs in 57 games with the Wyverns.
Trey Hillman, who took over as new SK manager before the 2017 season, liked Kim’s raw power and gave him a regular role. He responded with a career-high 22 home runs and 70 RBIs. The Wyverns also set a new KBO record with 234 home runs.
And in 2018, Kim is on pace to shatter his personal highs in homers and RBIs, and the Wyverns are leading the league with 25 homers in nine games.
Neither Kim nor the Wyverns will sustain that level of production over the 144-game season, but at least in the early going, Kim is living up to the big raise he got over the offseason.
Kim made 47 million won (US$44,650) in 2017, and the Wyverns rewarded him for a productive season with a 115 million-won deal for 2018, a 145 percent raise.
The Wyverns’ analytics department said Kim has become a more selective hitter and has also been much better at pouncing on opposing pitchers’ mistakes.
During the offseason, Kim underwent surgery to remove a bone spur in his left ankle, and that has also contributed to a hot start in 2018, team officials said.

Marea Britanie. Guvernul anunță că studenții din UE vor trebui să plătească taxe mai mari, începând cu anul universitar 2021/22.
Astfel, din 2021, studenții din afara Regatului Unit nu vor mai fi eligibili să plătească aceeași taxă aplicabilă studenților britanici (puțin peste 9000 de lire sterline pe an), ci vor plăti la fel ca toți ceilalți studenți străini, taxe de două sau de trei ori mai mari, în funcție de universitate. Oficialii au precizat că nu vor fi afectați studenții care încep cursurile în această toamnă.
Nick Hillman, director al Institutului pentru Politici Educaționale a spus că anunțul va fi primit ca o veste proastă pentru universități: “Taxele mai mari și oprirea accesului la creditul guvernamental pentru plata acestuia poate duce la o scădere cu 60% a numărului studenților care vin din țările membre UE să studieze în UK. Dacă se va întâmpla asta, universitățile noastre vor fi mai puțin deschise la diversificare și la influențe culturale”
Deși această ultimă declarație lasă destul de nelămurit statutul studenților din țările membre UE care au început studiile în Marea Britanie în anii anteriori, guvernul a dat numeroase asigurări că aceștia vor beneficia de aceleași taxe și acces la credit guvernamental pentru plata acestora și după ieșirea Marii Britanii din Uniune.

韓國職棒（KBO）NC恐龍台灣左投王維中19日本季首次先發重砲部隊SK飛龍，外國監督Trey Hillman賽前就告訴韓國媒體「如何攻擊王維中」，給予雅加達亞運韓國隊意見參考。

韓國媒體《SPORTS首爾》報導，台灣與韓國分在同為B組，而且是8月26日預賽首戰交手，按照休息天數計算，王維中可以先發首戰與冠軍戰，因此被視為韓國對手要突破大敵。
Hillman說，「王維中球數相當快，具有其他球種，能把打者球棒帶著走，面對這樣的速球投手，打者揮棒要短潔才可以，球數一旦不利，好的擊球機率就會下降。」
SK今年在韓職號稱「全壘打工廠」，打擊教練鄭慶培說，「（王維中）最快球速可到152公里，滑球與變速球球速也算快的，面對右打變速球較多，平均球速可到148公里來說，要攻擊不是容易的。」
鄭慶培點出缺點，「不過，王維中控球很不好，投到捕手要的反方向也常出現，我叮嚀打者心裡想著速球的節奏去抓就行，他的曲球比例很低，可說是沒有慢球，用直球節奏去攻擊變化球。」
報導說，王維中控球尚未能掌握在好球帶邊角，SK打者專心攻擊在好球帶的直球，��賽中途王維中或許有所意識，變速球用量增加，善用較寬的好球帶。
飛龍如何攻擊王維中，韓媒認為可以提供給專任監督宣銅烈參考。
