Good Morning & Happy Wednesday to all!
◾️May 15th 2003◾️
June Carter Cash, country singer and the wife of Johnny Cash, died in Nashville, Tenn., of complications following heart valve replacement surgery at age 73. In her lifetime, she played many instruments including the guitar, banjo, harmonica, and autoharp, and was a film and television actress. She won five Grammys and was ranked No. 31 in CMT's 40 Greatest Women in Country Music in 2003.
Rest in peace June ❤️

As I am posting this I have her music playing to give this post more meaning as if she is with us. Honestly just imagine the stories she could have given us about young Johnny Cash? The good ones are gone too soon, and unfortunately today the closest some women get to the love these two had is through fiction. Maybe us Mamas should let our babies grow up to be cowboys? That must have been the biggest typo in music history.
As June is singing about a broken heart I noticed something familiar about her song. It has the same beat as Undermine from Nashville that aired on CMT. Charles Esten gave Hayden Panettiere some help with that song, it’s one of the most beautiful settings in the back of the pick up truck by the lake on a beautiful summer day. Makes me want a sweet tea, real bad.
*Also it’s nice to see that music videos are coming back… oh you guys didn’t know? Oh yeah it’s totally a thing, yeah just cause we are getting older now doesn’t mean that we have to feel old. I kid you not I spotted a car driving around my neighborhood with beanie babies all over their car and a sticker on the back saying “They’re Back.” The advertising could have been slightly less creepy on the delivery, but I like it the weird and creepy.

Coca Cola Company launches a new Citrus soft drink called “Surge” and holds a sweepstakes event called “ A Surge Around The World; Splash Contest”.
On this date, double platinum R&B artist, Aaliyah Haughton, stands at the Santa Monica Municipal Airport and does the honors of randomly drawing the name of 20-year-old winner, Fadel Abdulha of Burbank, Calif in front of many sweepstakes participants and fans.
The winner and his accompanied entourage (his two brothers; Bob and Sarkis Abdulha) board a private jet headed to Moscow, Idaho for lunch and spend the rest of the day hanging with Aaliyah. - what a lucky guy!
DID YOU KNOW: Surge was created by Coca Cola to compete with Pepsi’s Mountain Dew and was launched February 7th 1997. Despite efforts to lure customers away from Pepsi, Coca Cola shut down production of SURGE (due to lack of sales) in 2003. It was a popular Facebook fan-page called "SURGE Movement" which convinced Coca-Cola to re-release the soft drink on September 15, 2014. Occasionally, this fan page shows love to Aaliyah sporting the Surge outfit on her birthday and anniversary of her passing.

Today (July 22nd 2022) we’ve gotten the sad news that Núria Feliu has died at 80 years of age.
She has been one of the most important and popular Catalan singers since the 1960s. She has published 42 albums with traditional Catalan songs, boleros, ballads and cuplets (light-hearted music from the late 19th and early 20th centuries) and she was also the one who popularized American music like jazz and country, which was little known here before her and had never been sung in Catalan.
She always defended the Catalan language, in fact she defended that she sang jazz and chanson in Catalan because it’s a language equal to others that can be used for everything. She was also a defender of Catalan independence and women’s freedom. In fact, she was one of the first women in Catalonia to get a driving license, back in the 1960s.

Today in history, July 6, 1957: John Lennon and Paul McCartney meet
“I remember John singing a song called ‘Come Go With Me.’ He’d heard it on the radio. He didn’t really know the verses, but he knew the chorus. The rest he just made up himself. I just thought, ‘Well, he looks good, he’s singing well and he seems like a great lead singer to me.’ Of course, he had his glasses off, so he really looked suave. I remember John was good.” -Paul McCartney
“Paul met me the first time I did Be-Bop-A-Lula on stage. And a mutual friend brought him to see my group called The Quarrymen and we met and talked after the show and I saw he had talent, he was playing guitar backstage and doing Twenty Flight Rock by Eddie Cochran and I turned around right on first meeting and said ‘do you wanna join the group?’ And he said hmm hmmm…and I think he said yes the next day. As I recall it.” -John Lennon

TIL a family in Georgia claimed to have passed down a song in an unknown language from the time of their enslavement; scientists identified the song as a genuine West African funeral song in the Mende language that had survived multiple transmissions from mother to daughter over multiple centuries (x)

#PINKFLOYD: This day, in 1971, Pink Floyd released their sixth studio album ‘Meddle.’ The cover image was photographed by Bob Dowling.
Did you know that the ‘Meddle’ album cover represents an underwater ear collecting waves of sound represented by ripples in the water?
