Even though the episode references it directly, it just hit me how much A Rick in King Mortur's Mort parallels The Vat of Acid Episode. Both episodes involve Rick relapsing after Morty provokes him. But instead of losing his mind and turning into a monster, Rick withdraws and replaces himself with a cheerful, loving version that he programmed to make Morty happy.

He still fucked up, but...I guess he fucked up a little differently this time.

Morty: You trying as hard as you can to hurt me right now proves my point.

Rick: I'll let you know when you have a point and the world will know when I try to hurt you.

Morty: Big man, big genius, big lonely drunk.

Honestly I really like Rick and Morty's argument in "Rickfending your Mort" Because it shows how far Rick and Morty developed as characters, there's a lot of arguments I could use to compare it to, but I'll just use Vat Of Acid argument, the first one, so in Vat Of Acid, Morty saw one of Rick's ideas fail, which sent them into an argument, both of them throw some pretty brutal insults, for example, here's some insults Morty throws Rick's way, ahem: "Are you dying of dementia?!" and "Big man, big genius, big lonely drunk." in Rickfending your Mort, Morty actually never insults Rick during their argument, and even gets angry when someone talks down to Rick, when Rick and Morty are discussing what they dislike about the observer, Morty says: "I don't like that he's talking down to you"

Rick has improved a lot as well, he threw some pretty brutal insults in the Vat Of Acid argument as well: "I'll let you know when I have a point, and the world will know when I try to hurt you" and "You're a piece of shit Morty!" in Rickfending your Mort, he doesn't really insult Morty at all, I can only think of one insult when really when he called Morty a little gremlin, but really that's it, also this applies to both of them, but they actually like...listen to each other without interrupting each other?? I'm just so proud of how far my boys have gone.

It will never stop being funny to me in The Vat of Acid Episode how Morty can read Rick so well and knows exactly how to get to him.

And the way he provokes Rick in the most petty/childish way and he looks so smug because he knows it’ll work? Iconic. Their whole argument has such sibling energy, which I love even more seeing the new family dynamic in recent episodes where Rick fits in better with Summer and Morty than the adults.

As much as I love the way their dynamic is improving in S6 towards a healthier relationship, I have to admit I love how petty and dysfunctional they can be as well

Morty canonically loved to write so I like to think he probably started off somewhere like in RP chats and wattpad or smn like a normal 14 yr old kid, eventually moving to ao3 (like i did LMAO AM I PROJECTING). His writing would have some errors, a little unpolished but its got heart

Rick probably stumbled upon his acc when Morty left his laptop open and idk, we all know Rick loves to snoop hes a rascal w no boundaries lol

Probably would be judgy abt it at first and laugh at the clumsy writing, something he'd pull up for a little light hate-reading. But despite the clumsiness Mortys writing's got legs. It would be funny if Rick actually looks forward to the next chapter. Like 4am hes crying over the latest update when it was revealed that Brick lost his family before meeting Max. And the story is riddled with spelling mistakes and excessive exclamation marks so the dissonance is real hahdhjakaj.

Rick and Morty season 4 episode 8 "The Vat of Acid Episode" Review!

Again starting off with a very royal "Fuck you!" to Rick, more than any other "Fuck you"! This was Rick at his worst, he absolutely destroyed this poor boy's psyche because he made the big mistake of...gasp! Insulting him! Oh my god, how could he!? It's almost like you don't always insult him and did things way worse to him! It's almost like after everything you put him through, he has a right to lash out!? Oh my god, how insane! I know I sound like a broken record here, but I just can't believe this is the same Rick we see in season 7. Now onto the review...this episode was really funny, while Rick was horrible to Morty here, extremely unlikable, and definitely at his worst, this episode was just way too funny for me to hate it, but fuck you to Rick in this episode for real. He traumatized the poor boy because of his fragile little boy ego, and again, felt no guilt! I don't cuss a lot but Rick deserves it, soooooo, here's what I got to say to Rick: fuck you! Fuck you! Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuckity fuck you! Ok moving on.

The fact Morty imminently looked guilty when he thought something he said actually hurt Rick...Morty, you had every right to lash out after everything he put you through, you have nothing to feel guilty about.

MORTY AHHH NO MY POOR BABY! FUCK YOU RICK! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOUR HEAD!? I DO NOT CARE THAT YOUR WIFE DIED! NOTHING MAKES THIS OK! THE POOR BOY JUST FINALLY LASHED OUT AT YOU, HE HAD EVERY RIGHT TO SINCE YOU DRAG HIM OUT OF SCHOOL TO TAKE HIM ON DANGEROUS ADVENTURE AND YOU TRAUMATIZED HIM BECAUSE HE BURISED YOUR PATHETIC LITTLE BOY EGO! YOU'RE JUST A GIANT MAN CHILD AND YOU ARE A HORRIBLE MANIPULATIVE TOXIC PIECE OF SHIT AND I HOPE YOU GET WHAT YOU DESERVE! I'm fine. I'm perfectly normal about this. Rick is my favorite character I promise, I just don't like him in season 4.

Final Rating: 9/10, this episode was very funny, but Rick was too unlikable for me to make this a 10/10.
