Things I’ve been doing lately, shoving plants into leca. So far so good. This is a Epipremnum aureum “Marble Queen”. The idea is to just have water at the bottom third of the can, a little tricky when you can’t see. but since it’s a epipremnum and they can grow out of an aquarium I guess it won’t get root rot if I mess up.

Pothos appreciation
Tumblr media
Neon - Grows in just leca and it loves it. It has just been a year in leca and I’ve never had a neon get this big before. Even though Neon pothos is the pothos I’ve kept the longest time.
Tumblr media
N’Joy - I bought the mother plant maybe 2019 but it never truly thrived so eventually I put some cuttings into leca and these are them now. Loving it!
Tumblr media
Marble Queen - Still in soil and I hate it. I’ve taken cuttings and placed in gravel (which is the same methos as with leca just another medium) but those cuttings haven’t taken off in a growth spurt yet.
Tumblr media
Golden - Golden pothos is my love plant and my hate plant all in one. When they don’t get enough light they get really, really boring and ugly (unless there’s something else, like huge leaves that makes them interesting). But the leaves once they get enough light is amazing! Love them. Mine grows in leca or gravel but it’s currently growing in the same pot as a neon so I should make just one pot of them some day.

the more i think about it the more i love, love, LOVE timestuck as just another ‘two people fall in love, [some] strings attached’ media. timestuck as a whole- its concepts, all its characters, LECA, etc- are very, very important to me, but in my life right now i really just want to skip all of the shit about the singularity and the xeon queen and veronica and the end of the world and just write jim and salem falling in love. fuck everything else

Though I knew this plant could be such a drama queen and I would just kill her so easily, I still got her anyway cuz of those black velvety leaves. Now, I'm seeing 2 yellowing leaves so I've decided to transplant her into Leca just so I could save her. If it works, then good. If it doesn't, I'm just never buying alocasias again. https://www.instagram.com/p/B2gNb14AA9z/?igshid=ueq328fcie9c

I grow my house plants semi hydroponically, in LECA.
This type of post is lovingly called root porn in the semi hydro community. XD
This last post is just of an Alocasia Frydek and Alocasia Ivory Coast (not a pink princess, just a very juvenile plant). Both I grew from corms (bulbs), the mature Ivory Coast didn’t make it transitioning from soil to LECA, and the adult Frydek I still have and it’s happily growing in semi hydroponics too.
I put the corms into only perlite (still a semi hydro method) until they got big enough and transferred to LECA. The IC especially has *taken off*, look at all the new plants pushing out!!

I grow my houseplants in mostly semi hydro setups, in LECA.

Monstera Adansonii (monkey mask/swiss cheese plant) and a Fiddle Leaf Fig (Ficus Lyrata).
I have heard that the FLF is notorious for being difficult to transfer from soil to LECA. My first suggestion is to buy one you don’t mind losing lol, then follow the instructions from The LECA Queen on YouTube in prepping the roots for LECA, and also her video on The Long Method. That’s how mine is thriving!
Third and final (for now) root porn post after the jump.
