really long post here but Aigis and Ryoji basically share the same vibe.. these guys should have been friends!! They could have been!!! They're both very very wholesome entities, very precious people. So sweet and curious and caring. “I do not…understand.”
Mechanical fingertips trembled in front of her as her soft blue gaze locked onto them; scanning the edges of them; watching the tips open to allow the exit of bullets if she so wished; though she was quick to close them and have them look like normal ( as normal as they could look ) fingertips again. Everything was overwhelming and confusing; emotions were uncharted territory for her. She was not supposed to feel any of this; & yet when she had met the entirety of SEES, something within her system had changed.
She started to feel things; not only did she want to protect all of them; but she was feeling many other emotions that she could not explain. Aigis felt as though she was becoming human—though the reminder of her room whenever she went inside of it was always a harsh reality; crashing down upon her like a meteor to the earth.
Though her personality and emotions may have developed to become more human, her body was still mechanical. Regardless if she could feel things like joy & fear; sadness & hope…
She would always & forever—be a machine.

The "Live" Scene from P3M4 may or may not be in the game
The way Makoto turns back is very reminiscent of this scene in the movies, so I'm thinking it's possible that they're adding it. It's worth noticing that in that same Famitsu interview linked above, Wada directly talks of the movies as works that allowed them to delve deeper into characters, and suggests that elements from them will find their way to P3R.

Thanks to Famitsu, we briefly get to see Aikoto at school. This scene has been kept the same as in the original game, so Aigis has her usual seat by Makoto's side.

They are literally releasing an "Aigis Edition" that includes an Aigis figurine 😂 The Atlus Shop in Japan also has another Limited Edition on sale that includes all this plus a Makoto Mug, a Makoto Tapestry and a Calendar. They really know how to target our wallets.

What if the TF2 mercs were a persona party?
Let’s assign arcana to each merc first and go from there.
To begin, each wildcard saga persona party has 5 guaranteed arcana within them, those being: Fool, Magician, Lovers, Emperor and High Priestess. The fool is the MC, the Magician is the immature one (usually also the party perv), the lovers is the popular girl, the emperor is the dad friend and the priestess is the socially awkward girl. I will be taking liberties as none of the mercs are confirmed to be women. You’d think chariot is in here but aigis was changed from chariot to aeon so i can’t really call it a mainstay.
Magician is the easiest: Scout. Jeremy fits all the requirements, down to actually falling for one specific girl whom he can’t be with (miss pauling)
Emperor: Spy. Literally Scout’s dad.
Fool: Heavy. He’s the face of TF2. The mascot who recieved the most amount of attention outside the game’s community. He’d be the MC.
Lovers: Soldier. A quick google search shows that among players Soldier is the most popular class, making him the popular girl of the party (he also has a canon love interest in Heavy’s sister, which for a persona game can easily be shifted into soldier x heavy)
High Priestess: the most difficult one to pick but i’m going with Pyro. They seem the least social of the group, no further explenation needed.
Now we need to assign arcana to the remaining 4 mercs.
Medic: Devil. Look what else is medic gonna be? This man is such a devil he outdevilled the devil.
Demoman: his constant drunkenness and despair leads me to believe he is wasting his potential in life, which implies Fortune arcana for him.
I’m not certain about Sniper and Engie, so if you have any suggestions for their arcana please let me know.

Theory: Shadow Operative Phantom Idols
Armband!SEES are classics but maybe they’re not especially exciting from a marketing perspective. Hence why they were given completely redesigned battle outfits for P3R. So perhaps the armband versions won’t be used for their evolved Persona units.
But wait, there is a version of this team that has completely new outfits and only uses the evolved Personas: the Shadow Operatives from the Arena spin-offs. Many of these designs come off as a bit gimmicky, but when you’re trying to sell a new version of a unit that’s a good thing.
This also provides a clear starting point for a story collaboration: weird Metaverse stuff happens which leads Wonder and his friends into meeting Shadow Ops. And as a bonus Sho and Labrys could be there too. (Hasn’t Asterius been found in the files of P5X?)
Ironically, this might lead to two Fool Aigis units. Because Arena lists her Arcana as Fool instead of Chariot or Aeon.
Oh, yeah, the Shadow Ops outfits would be fun! I guess there’s really several outfits for SEES that could end up getting used if they bring in previous game characters as cognitions, haha. (You’re correct, Asterius’ 3D model is in the files, as well as an icon for it in the turn order and/or on the Persona skill select menu in combat! It’d be nice to have Labrys and Sho in another game, too.)

Recently played Signalis (highly recommend if you enjoy survival and cosmic horror), and I just have to laugh at myself for a second because I truly solved a puzzle based on nothing but Aigis.
There was a butterfly room with a safe that had a four-letter word as the combination. Because another room early-on had a blue butterfly, I'd been in Persona Mentality, and the current area had a Tarot-themed puzzle, so I thought "Haha Aigis is associated with butterflies, and her arcana is Aeon, so what if--"
and yeah, Aeon was the answer to the butterfly room.

An event of recreation, correct?” That’s what she was assuming by the information within her database, blue gaze looking down at the at the steps that looked like they were entering some sort of dark void; music loud enough that they could hear it. A slight frown tugged at Aigis’ lips, head tilting ever so slightly before she moves her gaze to Minako, blinking once.
“You are certain that you wish to go down there?” She questioned, scanning a Minako’s features—she was always so confident—a worthy leader. A very special person…There’s a nod before Aigis looks back down the steps and starts to walk down them and towards the darkness.
“Then I shall accompany you, as it is my duty and purpose. I am not afraid.”

Every other time I start P4G it drops this extremely important configuration. I cannot fucking deal with the right button being cancel, it's WRONG. Bottom is cancel, right is confirm, and I will kick the ass of anyone and everyone who says different.

Which..... doesn't seem to matter because I hang out with both of the options anyway? wh-what's the point in choosing? OH WELL.
STRENGTH SOCIAL LINK: GET. I have zero opinion on these guys yet, I've known them for like 10 minutes. I have a scene with them later that's basically them asking if I like urban areas or rural more, so like. We're not dealing with a lot of depth yet.
Koromaru was Strength in P3P and was actually a very good one. Strength is infamously not about physical strength but emotional, particularly controlling the danger around you with personal fortitude. The de rigueur Strength symbolism is a woman and a lion with her calmly holding the lion in place, sometimes her hands on its mouth to prevent its attack.
Koromaru's S-Link was all about helping Koromaru act as the guardian of Iwatodai and particularly the area about the Naganaki Shrine, often assisting people who needed help. He's also very good at de-escalating situations. A very good boy and a very good Strength card.
So what we're looking for with the jocks here is an arc of emotional control and standing near something dangerous without flinching.

So I'm kicking off the Marie social link, and Yosuke rolls up. Other characters show up in SLinks way more often in this game. In P3P it was Shinjiro and Fuuka who did a lot of overlapping, but not really anyone else. Yosuke just ROLLS UP HERE and.

i feel like an ancient memory was just unlocked from my fucking skull. I knew Peachi way way way way way back when on Livejournal, we were contemporaries in the Metal Gear fandom. Holy shit that's so weird to see them referenced in Golden.
AEON SOCIAL LINK: GET. Marie feels "nostalgic" about Inaba and starts idly composing poetry while we walk around.
If you are expecting insight on the Aeon, I cannot help you. It's definitely not a standard card in RWS, and I think is an artefact of the Thoth deck.
Lemme google the card and just look at it.
Whoa wait. So Persona is playing fast and loose with the Arcana. Thoth is supposed to replace Strength with Lust and Justice to Adjustment. Aeon is supposed to replace Judgement, but P3P had Judgement. I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW IF P4 DOES THE SAME, but I'm not googling that, it sounds like Hella Spoilers.
Anyway. Aeon. Has a lot of the same heralds as the penultimate step of the Fool's Journey, but while Judgement is often about An Event, the biblical shit of the trumpets and angels descending, all that shit, Aeon is a much more person climax, the cracking of the egg and the burst of new consciousness. The dark archway over the Aeon is Nuit, Nyx, the night. There's spiritual symbols in it, so it's sort of like a synthesis of the trials of Star-Moon-Sun. It's a bit reductive, maybe, but as someone who isn't a huge fan of Judgement because it's just really tied to Revelations christianity shit, Aeon is interesting.
Since I'm aware that Aigis basically takes over as MC if you play The Answer in P3P, the Aeon suits her astonishingly well, as her journey is a culmination that mimicks the MC's.
So, Marie is the Aeon, currently stuck in the blue velvet darkness of the liminal limo and due to come out into the light to synthesize the spiritual madness of the Moon with the hope of the Star and the clear vision of the Sun.
Maybe. I say this having not really known wtf Aeon was ten minutes ago.
Where the fuck was I?
RIGHT, saving Yukiko. I headed back into the TV on 4/21 and powered through some floors. Compared to Tartarus, this is easy-peasy.
Shadow Yukiko strikes me as very.... lazy. She was born into a destiny she doesn't want, but is also completely unwilling to push back against it. She's submissive to the desires of her family and the needs of the Amagi Inn, but under the surface is festering with frustration she won't voice.
I truly genuinely wonder if her family even has an inkling she's so unwilling to take on ownership of the inn, or if she's never told them. Like, I have no idea. Not that I think saying so would get her out of it, but it's sure Something to just... grow this dense ball of resentment in yourself without even cluing people in.
ANYWAY Chie is her prince. Yukiko wouldn't make a terrible Rose Bride, lmao.
Well. Given how Chie introduced Yukiko to Reverie and talks about her, I'm not sure Chie knows that Yukiko hates her destiny either. lmao girl you gotta fucking communicate like any of this at all to anyone.
Yukiko has severe doormat issues.

Well, this one is less exciting. A powerful bird in an opulent cage with an open door and the lock clearly visible and undone. Yukiko, I would hazard, really enjoys being special, being essentially a noble of the town.
And she may have the power and opportunity to fly away from her cage, but beyond its light is a big unknown. It might not be as comfy. So, she wants the perks of being someone important but lashes out against the expectations that come with it.
That's my read anyway. /jazzhands

Yukiko's persona is Konohana Sakuya. I went "oh shit like from Okami" and then wanted to smack myself.
Yukiko needs to go home, she is Le Tired. We outie!
(SIDENOTE I AM VERY CONFUSED. I started to die in this fight and purposefully ate shit to get it over with faster so I could try again, but the game was like "want to retry?" and I was like "oh man what a nice QOL feature, yeah retry!" and it REVIVED EVERYONE TO MAX HP/SP BUT SHADOW YUKIKO WAS STILL AT LIKE 15% HP. which is.... not what I wanted. that's super weird, I just wanted a do-over.)

oh now we just MAKING SHIT UP i see. Aeon i was AWARE OF as a Thoth thing. I have scored my cartomancy app and Jester ain't a real arcana to my knowledge. It sounds like it could be from the Tarot de Marseille, but I've never seen it before. (TdM was more game-y than other styles, similar to Lenormand, so you can more easily "play" it.)
I... am thrown. Is that an Arcana with an S-Link? What the hell.
