assumed dead.

either on purpose or simply mistaking tang for another spider demon, someone tells the main gang that tang is dead.

this leads to more ideas because there's at the very least two scenes you can do.

the reaction to the news that tang is dead

the reunion

maybe hints along the way (Pigsy could've sworn that there was a spider demon dressed in red robes on the hill, but then he blinked, and the man was gone.)

OR A GREAT IDEA I THOUGHT OF WHILE THINKING OF THE ASSUMED DEAD THING

tang goes undercover

he hides his identity and pretends to be someone else (maybe like a traveler from another land, maybe a demon who's a librarian, etc idk) he changes some parts of him, maybe growing out his hair, maybe using a different color pallete for his clothes, (he uses red and warm colors right now so maybe blue-green? just more cool colors. or color combos, purple and gray, green and black, yellow and white, etc)

this leads to the gang seeing parts of Tang in, well, Tang but disguised. maybe pigsy sees a bit of tang in the librarian, who knows.

this leads to more ideas because now there's at least five scenes you can add

Tang's internal thoughts when doing these disguised things or Tang's interactions with people who know that this is Tang (spider family, Macaque, idk)

The reveal that this is Tang

If you want, you can also make it both. Tang is assumed dead and because he is assumed dead, decides to hide his identity and check up on the gang every once in a while just to make sure they are safe.

If this is the case Tang's spider family could either know Tang is alive, or also think Tang is dead. If they also think Tang is dead, there could be two separate reveals of Tang's identity.

There's many reasons as to why Tang might disguise himself, add on to whatever reason he might have.

What if Tang doesn't know that he's Tang? What if that's why he's undercover?

ALSO WRITE THE STORY, TRUST. THERE WILL BE AT LEAST ONE PERSON WHO READS IT.

i mean, you could just have tang running away from the gang and the gang trying to find tang, coming so close and still so far. maybe there's a whole recovery arc, because despite the gang being tang's family, it would still hurt. and if someone is hurt enough to run away from you, i doubt it could be recovered by a simple reunion and a "im sorry."

maybe you don't even have to focus on the gang finding tang, the gang finding tang could be a side plot for now, it's a story. you don't have to rush it if you don't want. maybe you could just consider the family dynamic in the spider family. how tang interacts with different members of the family, what bonds do they share? what are their roles?

I would literally love to focus on the spiders, much more than I would the gang tbh because there is so much more content about them compared to the spiders. And since I’m definitely doing some kind of disguised!tang plot from the other ask, I can definitely shove actually looking for Tang to the back of the list, and focus more on the spiders adjusting to life and helping Tang, and those moment where the mk gang individually visit him as the “mysterious librarian” and lead to accidental moments of recovery, like Pigsy telling the “librarian” what he would say to Tang if he could. Or Mk saying how worried and guilty he’s felt for not finding him yet.

okay so I can imagine Sun Wukong could tell from the beginning via gold vision. Aaaand one kidnapping later where Tang explains over and over that Tripitaka was /not/ a spider demon, you have Tang and Wukong agreeing to never speak of this again. A “just between us” thing if you will. He tried hinting to Pigsy once by saying “You’re husband kinda has a spider demon scent on him-“ but that was VERY SWIFTLY SHOT DOWN VIA WOODEN SPOON

Pigsy assumed Wukong was accusing Tang of cheating :p

Believe it or not, they both start catching feelings around the same time! After the two team up during Revenge of the Spider Queen (cause most of the main story events are the same), Pigsy decides that he might as well make a meal for himself and “accidentally” makes too much so he’s forced to share with Tang. During this time Tang gets a glimpse at the softness underneath Pigsys hard shell, and Pigsy experienced the most genuine praise and happiness for his cooking that he’s heard in centuries. This leads to the both of them catching the smallest hints of feelings, with Tang being oblivious to the fact they’re romantic feelings, and Pigsy being all too aware (and a little bit ashamed) since he’s been alive longer.
