Watching The Woman In The Window after watching The Woman In The House Across The Street from the Girl In The Window just turned it into a comedy.

What even is the point of getting a second season of The Woman In The House Across The Street From The Girl In The Window if it doesn’t do the exact opposite of S1 and starts completely off the rails comedic just to end up as a horribly tense murder mystery

The woman in the house across the road from the girl in the window is a masterpiece of genre parody because the absurd comedic take on the murder mystery also makes the mystery more engaging as even the most ludicrous options could be true because everything in this show comes across equally absurd.

Relatable.
Therapist: “How are you doing?”
Internal monologue: “I wake up every morning disappointed that I’m still alive in this bullshit dystopian society. I then go to a meaningless job that I don’t hate, but don’t care about because all I can think about is how I have a bad case of “the poor” and if I miss even one day of work I won’t be able to afford rent and I’ll be homeless. I have no family. My mother is dead and my stepdad is a fucking asshole who doesn’t even realize what he’s done to my sanity. My mental health is beyond destroyed. The world sucks. It’s getting worse. But I can’t seem to open my fucking mouth and ask for help because I think I know it’s hopeless. When I’m not sad at work or sad elsewhere I just curl up in the dark and sleep. I can’t afford to get the fuck out of here and I can’t afford to live here. I just want to die and never come back.”
Me: “I’m fine.”
Therapist: “Any depression or suicidal thoughts?”
Me: “No. I just read and write and stuff.”
Therapist: “Coolio. Here’s some meds if you need them.”

Hu? I'm through with the The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window and I'm confused like ... most of the show was really good, possibly due to the acting of Kristen Bell and pretty much everything that was bad about it was their extremely weird choices to be funny? And I understand that you might want to make a horror comedy or, as their Wikipedia article says, a parody, but for that it was far too inconsistent and unfunny?
Like 85 % of it, if they had played it completely straight, would have been a very good mini series. If they had also replaced their eventual who-dunnit with something ... good this series would have been really solid, but instead they had this weak-sauce stuff from somebody who is hopefully not a comedy writer. Strange.

So seriously you're trying to tell me that Anna from tWitHAtSftGitW (you couldn't find anything longer?) was passing out bc of being outside when it rains because it had been raining when her daughter had been murdered but when she killed in self-defence a 9yo who had killed five people she's perfectly fine???? Like that was her cure or sth????

i was always a little reluctant to say twithatsftgitw was almost too subtle with its parody sometimes but seeing other people liveblogging it....... im fine

Well. I just did my first "unstable white woman drops and smashes a plate" in real life. Kristen Bell would be proud.

its at the very least openly laughing at itself, right? theres no way that [lists 20 things] is a joke in TWitHAtSftGitW but fully serious in Watcher. its at least poking knowing fun

❝ please, you have— you have to believe me. ❞ // for james!
twithatsftgitw starters // accepting!
“Believe you?” Right. Dumbledore brought him into the fold, so they’re all just supposed to forget that Snape was a Death Eater. James is supposed to accept that he has Harry’s best interest at heart, because, what? He’d cared about his mother once? Hadn’t stopped him from gladly signing on to torment and eradicate everyone like Lily, had it...
James crossed his arms, eyes narrowed in grim, bitter consternation; he couldn’t say which was rising faster, his old, familiar hatred for the man in front of him or the searing headache growing between his temples. “You’re lucky I don’t just throw you out on your ass,” he ground out.
Merlin, he wanted to. But....
But there was the chance Snape was telling the truth. James glanced over his shoulder into the dimly-lit foyer, then back down at the old nemesis standing in his yard. Harry was asleep upstairs, oblivious to the rain and the visitor.
“What do you want, then.”

My favorite The Woman in the House Across the Street From the Girl in the Window character is The Sudden Unexplainable Rainstorm That Debilitates the Woman With the Casserole Dish in the Middle of the Street
