Napoleon XIV - They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa! (Warner Bros., 1966) - Art direction by Ed Thrasher, photograph by Sherman Weisburd
Songwriter Jerry Samuels, performing under the stage name Napoleon XIV, wrote and performed this comedy album that was his only major hit. The title track, which peaked at No. 3 on the Hot 100, is seemingly about a lover who goes insane when his mate leaves him, and he is ultimately committed to an insane asylum (the "funny farm" as Napoleon describes). The final verse then reveals he's actually talking about his dog.
For whatever reason, WB decided to spoil the twist with this cover.
