i firmly stand in the position that there is no way an editor could have read the latter half of tbk and not thought calron. the scene where they saw each others souls was so gay aarons death scene was so gay like u can MAYBE deny call liking aaron but there is no way in hell aaron didnt have a crush on call this isnt even headcanon anymore this is real shit is anyone that oblivious like "yeah lol what good friends" and then tsm happens and call literally breaks the laws of nature to get aaron back so like (i still hate tsm though like call is it that hard to just regard aarons feelings once? apparently)

Character design for four brothers. Finished in August 2021. Mainly draw on TBK TV series (2009) and TBK film (1967), I think this design finished before is also too flawed and don’t have many details. Anyway, hope to try more in the future.

what are your thoughts on the ashok / priya vs chandra / malini sibling parallels in tbk series?
I don't think I can answer this properly because I didn't really care about Ashok or Priya when I first read TJT, so by TOS I didn't have the context to feel much about them and I honestly don't remember any parallels. I DID love Ashok and Bhumika's tension, I loved how they were two very different leaders of the resistance and kept butting heads on levels that increased in intensity more and more. "Came back wrong" but now your brother is actually helping you so you're very conflicted about it. Chandra and Malini on the other hand slapped. I loved how they are each others' moons, constantly keeping each other in their thoughts and trying to one-up each other. Add Aditya into the mix and it becomes even wilder.

Sapphic Book Recs
Moving outside the realm of fanning out over characters we already know, here are a few book recommendations that feature or center F/F relationships. (Note: I am NOT including comprehensive trigger warnings--please mind your triggers if you choose to check any of these out!)
The Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir - My personal favorite on the list. If you’re into the F/F lit scene at all, I’m sure you’ve heard of these. TLT is a masterpiece of modern fantasy and has enough moments where its glib tone gives way into something raw and real that it keeps the stakes high and the reader invested. The characters jump off the page and the worldbuilding is colorful and strange. However, if you’re easily squicked by gore, you might want to give these a pass--necromancy is a central pillar of the world and Muir does not hold back on the ick factor.
Recommend if you:
Like stories that keep you guessing
Like messy characters
Savor a bit of codependency in your F/F
The Burning Kingdoms trilogy by Tasha Suri - TBK is a fantasy series set in a fictional country inspired by ancient India. Suri weaves together the stories of several characters and does an excellent job of showing how her two main protagonists--Priya and Malini--are torn between their attraction to each other and the roles of responsibility they choose to take up. Suri also does an excellent job of allowing the female characters to drive the plot, even where they don’t exist in positions of power. (Longer review here)
Recommend if you:
Want female-focused fantasy
Enjoy the push and pull of “duty vs. love”
Enjoy multi-POV stories that unfold gradually
Fingersmith by Sarah Waters - Fingersmith is a period romance piece that involves deceit, heist plans, and falling in love with the mark. This is one of those books where re-reading it a second time will definitely feel different than the first go. Waters does a great job with the interplay of the characters’ motivations which are gradually revealed throughout the book.
Recommend if you:
Enjoy spy/heist stories
Love it when characters lie to each other
Are mostly looking for romance
The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon - An epic high fantasy novel clocking in at over 800 pages, Priory covers a lot of ground and a lot of fantasy staples. Ead, an outsider to the court of Inys, has taken it upon herself to secretly guard the queen for reasons of her own--with the results you might hope for as she gets closer to Sabran.
Recommend if you:
Enjoy a romantic subplot but don't want it to take over the action
Enjoy multi-POV stories that unfold gradually
Like the tension of "duty vs. love”
Want an epic dragon-on-dragon fight
One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston - If you just really want something lighthearted and if you’re a big reader of fanfiction, this might be your choice. OLS is a fluffy piece that relies heavily on the found family trope with just a dash of fantasy. The standout character is definitely love interest Jane, a suave, confident butch who sweeps protag August off her feet from day one. (Longer review here)
Recommend if you:
Are mostly looking for romance
Do not want lots of angst
Prefer a story where everyone gets along
Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See - I debated including this one, because it is not explicitly F/F, which is going to be a deal-breaker for some people. But honestly the romantic and sexual undertones of Lily and Snow Flower’s relationship come across so strong I’m willing to put it up here. This book is set in 19th century China and centers around the intense friendship of two women, starting from childhood and through their adulthood. This one will take you on an emotional ride for sure. A film came out based on this, but in short my review on that is: the book is better!
Recommend if you:
Are okay with ambiguous relationships
Like looking at what women’s private lives looked like in the past
Are looking for something dramatic/emotional

can we talk about this cover? besides the fact that it’s my favorite cover of the series and gorgeous but also the contents of the cover
first off, WHERE ARE THEY? there’s not a place in the magisterium that looks like this, i suppose you could argue that it’s the elemental prison, but i don’t think it was described like that? and i remember in someone else’s post, don’t remember who, that it looks like european architecture (which. don’t fact check me.) and going with that at the very least this isn’t the magisterium and is somewhere else in the world entirely, does this potentially mean The Bronze Key we got was not the original concept at all?
to add onto this! let’s talk about the knife calls holding. it isn’t miri. i suppose you could attribute the odd design to the fact that none of them are consistent in the covers, but the one thing that throughout books has stayed the same is the design of Semiramis. it gets used several times for chapter headers and ALWAYS looks similar and or exactly the same. and at the very least, if the knife he’s holding was meant to be Semiramis, don’t you think they wouldn’t have curved the blade? kept it straight? here’s my conclusion, the knife he’s holding is The Cosmos Blade. the original title for The Bronze Key.
but.. why? why does the cover not align with the book? this is the ONLY book it happens in.
(with the sort of exception of The Golden Tower, my friend has a theory that it’s aaron on the dragon and not alex and they resorted to just making alex blond in the book but. whatever not the point because there’s not as much evidence)
and the original translated synopsis— which might be fake and i’ve never confirmed as real so take this with a grain of salt— does NOT match up with the book at all. could it be that more than midway through the book they completely scrapped the idea? opting to go with The Bronze Key to fit with the metal theme? could this explain why the cover took so long to come out? there’s more i want to say on this but i cannot find the words for this.
i don’t doubt that through the production of a book ideas will change, but let’s talk about when these changes occur. unlike with small changes like The Copper Gauntlets change from The Copper Mask, this change actually is huge. because in TCG, a mask IS mentioned, constantine’s mask. but in The Bronze Key, not even a passing mention on anything that could remotely be The Cosmos Blade is mentioned. and let’s talk about the under use of european mages, yeah it gets sort of explained why they hate makaris in The Golden Tower with maugris but let’s not forget! maugris was implied to be improvised by the authors.
there are tumblr posts from the authors mentioning the european mages, saying that yes they would get mentioned in the third book or at the very least the fourth one, posts that just BARELY predate The Bronze Key.
this post isn’t me being sour that aaron died in TBK, because let’s be honest here, he was always going to die. nor is this me being sour that calron was never canon, because i could care the fuck less if it was (my main issue with callmara is how underdeveloped it is and how it totally watered down tamara’s character to a love interest like they did with celia. im a callmara fan, but everytime i read it in the books I GAG).
this is me being sour at the AUTHORS for choosing to devote more time to their already established and more popular book series. they had too much on their plate. they chose to opt for a potentially more simple plot for time purposes with each book having less and less pages. they needed better time management skills. they are NYC best sellers and yet, and yet, these final three books are lack luster in quality as their own series thrive and continue to climb in popularity.
so yeah. justice for The Cosmos Blade.

I need tips on how to study/revise for chemistry, especially physical chemistry.
Dear anon, I don't know whether you meant boards or competitive exams, so I covered for both since it is based on common ground anyway.
So👇
Tumblr media
There is no other way that we could do well in physical chemistry except practice. A LOT.
What I understand about this dilemma (that I too have at this point, not fully solved) is that by the time you do at least 15 questions on a topic, you can get a grasp on the important formulae/which topics the questions hail from.
Mole concept : limiting reagent, M, m, w/w or w/v% (this particular option is not that frequent), reactions with stoichiometry coinciding with chemical kinetics, electrochemistry and metallurgy
Atomic Structure : which spectral series is in which region of the spectrum, sums with ratio of wavelengths (largest, smallest, comparison of different series), emission and absorption spectra, parts correlating to the physics part of energy levels and radius of hydrogen-like species
Gaseous state : GRAHAM'S LAW OF DIFFUSION (I cannot stress this enough, do it), the Cv and Cp values for Mono, Di and Polyatomic gases which connects thermo in Chem as well as Physics, mean free path proportionalities
Thermo (unit) : everything. All the laws, equations and graphs. adiabatic, isothermal, isochoric, my head and my tongue. Do every numerical in thermo. It's a weak point for a lot of us and we, right now, have the time to make it... Well, a not weak point.
Equilibrium : learn all the formulae and before you learn the formulae visualise/logically understand how something is happening. Log tables, roots, figure out some way to make decimal operations easier. A lot of sums from this one tpo because it isn't that connected to physics like thermo or electrochemistry
Redox : Make a trick for recognising which one is oxidation and which one is reduction. Balancing reactions must be practiced.
Solid state : Repetitive revision of the lattice examples is the only way we can remember them. Muscle memory can serve us well here. Make charts or stick it up on your wall to look at it every few days if that works for you. The rest are formulae and 4-5 numbers to be remembered. Density sums, chemical formula sums, voids sums <- practice
Solutions : formulae, how you get van't hoff factor for a compound, association and dissociation which is linked with electrochemistry molar conductivity part
Electrochemistry : formulae, graphs, molar conductivity sums, kohlrausch's law sums, electrolyte difference/spotting (will help in equilibrium), the cathode and anode of cells (this rarely comes)
Chemical Kinetics : some zero and first order reaction examples (will connect to radioactivity in nuclei chapter), half life formulae, and the 75% and 99% concentration formulae too (these 2 are not there in the tbk but it makes life easier in both phy and chem), all the graphs (should be able to read them even if they are messed around with or changed a bit)
Surface Chemistry : gold number sums, coagulation power and value orders in sols, recognising positive and negative sols, purification methods, electrophoresis definition (you'd be surprised how many times this came), helm holtz double layer theory, tindal's effect (connects a bit to optics, but vaguely), micelles (connects to bot biomolecules and cell unit). This chapter is very theoretical so keep revising stuff you don't get at first glance
Now briefly about Inorganic and Organic Chemistry:
Inorganic : write all the orders and the logics behind it. Some trends are weird so remember them with some trick (keep the tricks to the minimum in inorganic btw, it messes with your brain otherwise). That's as far as I've gotten with inorganic myself, but we can still work on it. If you have any advice regarding this, please do share.
Organic : understand the mechanism behind any reactions. Not just the way it's given in the textbook, but try to connect all organic chapters to each other. Practice a lot of questions, the direct ones as well as the weird ones. Organic does not have any tricks, it just requires practice and that can be done if we understand how each reaction goes about and why we do it.
Hope this helps you with Physical Chemistry and the like🤗 Thank you for approaching me with this so I could think out loud
Have a nice productive day!

I have another TBK related project that I don't post here which is a series of pencil drawings (you could call it a graphic fanfiction) exploring the concept of Mitya and Grusha in exile, on their way to America, which isn't necessarily what I see happening in the sequel, but it's still worth exploring.
Since it's nonlinear and I mostly draw scenes that come to mind with no clear ending or plot in mind, I don't know if I should post it here. Every drawing is meant to be seen by itself, so then I would have to post the 16 I have so far separately...

I'm right now watching a playthrough of Frontiers and I'm honestly surprised at the direction Flynn took the characters. If anything, I thought he'd end up flanderizing them. Instead, he made them... way too serious. Like, some of the dialogue spoken is stuff I'd expect to hear in, like, The Avengers or John Wick. They feel bland, colorless. Previous Sonic games have used themes like death and have handled them way better while maintaining a tone in-line with the series (SA2, S&TBK).
The entire game has an overwhelming aura of blandness. What's interpreted if not praised as "subtle", is really "we don't care anymore".
Much of the voice acting in particular sound less like they're deliberately pulling off subdued emotions, and more like they're just genuinely not having fun. I feel bad for Roger especially.

How are Shahra and Merlina significant to the Sonic is the real Ultimate Lifeform theory?
In the story book series, Sonic’s various friends act as cameos and serve specific roles in each story. Tails was Ali Baba and a blacksmith, Amy was the Lady of the Lake, Knuckles was Sinbad and Sir Gawain, Shadow and Blaze as Lancelot and Percival, etc etc. Sonic’s friends play special roles in each of the story book series; important roles are given to cast members.
That begs the question of who Shahra and Merlina represent, doesn’t it?
@/birdsareblooming discusses that Merlina is actually the Arthurian counterpart to Maria. They go into detail but the main synopsys is this: similar name, similar appearance, grandfather’s being intelligent/magical and important (lore wise and beyond). They explain it better than that… but if Merlina was meant to imitate Maria… why? Blaze, Shadow. Knuckles, Tails, Amy… they’re all important characters to Sonic. He’s met them and knows them and befriended them. He doesn’t know Maria. Why would Maria be relevant to this story? To any story about Sonic, and not Shadow?
Because Sonic does know Maria.
An idea about the storybooks series I’ve always liked is that they took the shape of Sonic’s imagination. The characters look like the characters we know and love because of Sonic. That’s how he saw them when he was reading about them; he imagined Percival, on a holy and royal mission, to be Blaze, he imagined the blacksmith to be Tails, he imagined Knuckles as Gawain, the Green Knight.
Which brings me to Shahra.
Since only Knuckles, Tails, and Eggman have counterparts in the game, it’s likely that this takes place before Sonic meets his other friends. Before Sonic Adventure Two, really. Which means, before he learns about and sees Maria through Shadow’s story.
Shahra doesn’t look like Maria, but that’s because Sonic doesn’t even know who Maria is, or what Maria looks like. All he has is his faint subconscious, trying to steer him in the right direction. Shahra is his first attempt to assign a role to another important person in his life, but it’s someone he doesn’t actually remember. So she looks the way she does, because all Sonic can remember is a kind female.
When S&TBK occurs, it’s after SA2 and S05, after Sonic’s learned and seen Maria through Shadow’s backstory. This time, he has a face and features and a story to give to Merlina, who now closer resembles her counterpart.
Shahra and Merlina are counterparts to Maria. Sonic just isn’t aware of it.

When you get this you have to list 5 books/book series you love 📚♥️. Then send this ask to last 5 persons from you notification. Spread love. 💌
Hmmmm... It's hard to pick favourites but I'll try!
1. Jackaby! I always recommend it to people bc it's such a cute little book and I wish there was a bigger fandom for it! (There are no words for how much I love this series)
2. Crime and Punishment (also tbk!!!)
3. Vicious - I mean homoerotic enemies that made each other into the monsters that they are today? I'm in.
4. The Metamorphosis - I have many emotions about Gregor Samsa.
5. Six of Crows

I think anon meant actor's guild strike but they still have negotiations as far as i know. If the actors' strike does begin - all shooting of TV shows/movies/series, as well as premieres and various events will be canceled and the actors will not be allowed to publicly promote anything related to their films and participate in press conferences or festivals and etc.
oh because just yesterday I saw a Variety article about Netflix locking down deals with a bunch of people including Mads/Vanessa so unless there’s another film happening, I was assuming they were referring to TBK and was wondering what had transpired in the 24 hours since I read that lol
