Soul's Scream, ch. 31 - While They Were Sleeping, pt. 1:

A tug came on the triad’s bonds nearly an hour later, from Jasmine, their Gheyo King. Briar was instantly on his feet again, Jun and Rian less than a heartbeat behind him. 

As much as it pained her to do so—because she understood what her Submissive was going through right now—Jun pulled Briar behind her as they got closer, deftly avoiding the snapping fangs from her Submissive, and as a foreboding mood started hanging in the air, a mood that came from the area as a whole and not just from her Bonded.

Something was definitely wrong. 

Gardenia met them on the end of the street, a grim look on the ACE’s face. 

“You’re not going to like what we’ve found,” she warned them, but reluctantly let the triad through.

Soul's Scream, ch. 30 - Preparations:

Harry didn't know why, but his Bonded seemed surprised when he woke up at his usual time the next day. 

Sure, he could have slept in a bit more, especially because no one had mentioned plans for the day the night before, but both Raspen and Alec had decided to stay at home for the day and he wasn't about to pass up the opportunity to spend some extra time with them. 

He did start growing a bit more suspicious when he decided to take a nap before lunch—his Bonded made for very good personal heaters, even the ones that weren't Fire elements—and instead of leaving him where he was, someone brought him to the resting room instead. 

And again, many of them seemed surprised when he was awake in time to eat. Harry was starting to feel like he was missing something…

Soul's Scream, ch. 31:

When they were in a more private area, the Gheyo began listing off what would be required. Having grown up in Nevarah, Molly wasn’t particularly surprised by any of the safeguards, but she could tell that Arthur wasn’t pleased with the copious amount of blood magic that would be used.

Blood magic was one of the reasons magical humans had labeled dragels as Dark creatures, after all. And Torvaks hunted Dark creatures. The fact that he would be subjected to it probably rubbed against all of his morals. 

“Just to start, we’ll need a pinprick of blood on this tablet,” the Gheyo continued, holding out the item. “To make sure the magic will take and there will be no adverse consequences from the measures. Usually there aren’t, but there have been rare cases and they never end pleasantly, so we like to be certain before we proceed.”

Soul's Scream, ch. 28:

Ethan gestured to the window when Fred slumped in, yawning and red hair sticking up in several directions. He'd only gotten minimal sleep after Harry's fit and probably didn’t relax fully until all of the Gheyos had returned to their little island, reeking of blood and riding an adrenaline high of a task well accomplished. 

"Check on that, will you?" Ethan said. 

Fred simply grunted and automatically turned to head outside, pausing only when he saw the scene that awaited him. 

"That's Brishen?" 

"Pretty sure that's him," Ethan confirmed. "Just not sure exactly why." 

Double, Double, Toil & Trouble, ch. 2:

He winced when he watched the two Alphas attempt to descend on the Submissive before they spotted each other and the posturing started. There was a reason a merged Circle was typically a deliberate choice, made when everyone had clear heads, and not during a soulscream when almost everyone was running on instinct. 

Thankfully, one of the Pareya intervened before they moved from posturing to flat-out attacking each other. With a deft flick of his gold-to-black ombre wings—he had a lovely wingspan, one that would put most Air types to shame—the two Alphas went flying apart. It was a very nice move that he approved of wholeheartedly—he couldn’t have done it any better. 

The sound of someone clearing their throat drew his attention and he turned his head to face a tall, tanned man with dark hair and hazel eyes. 

Catching up with the Evansons and Weasleys, with a side of hellhounds, Elves, and hunters.

Soul's Scream, ch. 31:

“Given what was just learned, I don’t think we need to proceed,” the Gheyo said quietly. “Though, you may want to be examined by a Healer since I don’t know if being present in Nevarah and surrounded by so many dragels will trigger anything in your blood. They would likely know if it’s something to be concerned about.”

Molly nodded once, before reaching out to her husband and placing a hand on his elbow. 

He jerked back into awareness at her touch. 

“The children are waiting for us,” Molly murmured quietly, making it clear that they didn’t have to speak of what he had just learned now. 

Hybrid, ch. 1:

Once his escort was complete, Harry went in search of his Gheyo Prince and was completely unsurprised to find him lounging in one of the lower levels of the house, half-asleep on one of the couches. 

Well, at least he wasn’t fully asleep yet. If he had been, Harry might have felt guilty about disturbing the other man. As it was, he was sure that his news was going to result in a grumpy Gheyo, nap or no nap. 

“The answer’s no,” Devrim said as Harry knelt beside the couch and starting running his hands through the Gheyo’s hair. 

The Submissive huffed quietly. Of course Devrim had already picked up on the fact that they had visitors. “Was it the shadows or the nose that tipped you off?” he wanted to know. 

The Main Ingredient, ch. 1:

Kaden held up a pearlescent scale to the sun, examining it with a critical eye: "From a Silverwing dragon?" he asked the vendor. 

"Sir has a very good eye. Most assume it's from the more common White Russian dragon. Understandable, since a Silverwing hasn't been seen in decades, after all." 

“Understandable," Kaden agreed, keeping his voice neutral. "Rather unique for a Silverwing, too. All of the other ones I've seen have had a red tinge to the scale, not peach like this." He brought the scale lower and trailed a finger lightly over it to get a feel for the texture. He didn’t reveal to the other man that the ones he usually saw were his own scales.

Soul's Scream, ch. 31:

“I don’t believe it,” Juniper grumbled under her breath as the message came back with a notification that Prince Raspen was attending to his Circle during his Submissive’s resting period and would reply to her request for a meeting when he returned to his duties. She hissed in irritation. 

“I thought they planned for things like this well in advance,” Rian said, reading over her shoulder, a frown on his face. 

“Planned for what?” Orchid asked as she started setting the table for breakfast.

“Royals and their Circles’ resting periods,” Rian replied. 

Briar growled. “Seriously?” he demanded.
