Hi! It's me again :3, I don't know (and remember) if anyone has asked this before but I would like to know:
How did OG!MK feel when he found out that SW is his father in another dimension (I feel like Mei would say something like "See? I told you he was your dad" or something)
If it happens before S4, I feel like Mk would be a little jealous of his other self seeing that he doesn't have the problem of not knowing who his biological parents.
(The idea occurred to me when I remembered a tiktok that said MK used any type of editing app to get an idea of what his parents would look like 🥲)
omg if you have that tiktok I'd love a link XD
Think i did do a post like that ages ago, but only with an earlier draft of TMKATI and canon. Now I have like three more verses to torment MK with >:)
When the Canon verse and the other verses collide, the quickest thing the MKs would notice is their appearances.
OG!MK: "Whoa!! These me's are monkey demons!" TMKATI!MK: "And you guys are... human???" SlowBoiled!MK: "Yeah, why wouldn't him- I mean me be?" CenturyEgg!MK: "I don't know about you guys - but my parents are monkey demons. Then again my gūtā [dad's gender neutral older sibling] is human, I think???" JTTWEgg!MK: "My parents are monkey demons! The coolest monkey demons ever I may brag." TMKATI!MK: "Oh no way! My parents are monkey demons too! i have a bunch of adopted siblings though. Does your dad work with Bóbo[dad's older brother] Pigsy too?" CenturyEgg!MK: "No cus Uncle Pigsy and Tang lives in the city. We all live on Flower Fruit Mountain - but we visit as often as possible! Uncle Sandy ferries us across all the time." :3 OG!MK: "Wow!! You two live on the mountain!? What's it like?" JTTWEgg!MK, shrugging: "It's cool." CenturyEgg!MK: "Sometimes feel pressured by my role as Heir to the Stone Throne - but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I really don't like having to visit the Celestial Realm though. The nobles are kinda mean about my dad cus he caused a bunch of havoc a long time ago." The Other MKs: "wut" OG!MK: "Uh... Please explain who your parents are?" CenturyEgg!MK, confused by their confusion: "Sun Wukong the Monkey King, and Liu'er Mihou the Sage of Wind??? I thought you guys were too???" JTTWEgg!MK: "Yeah, mine are too. I thought you guys knew??" SlowBoiled!MK: "No- well kind- it's complicated! Ok!?" TMKATI!MK: "Not me. My parents are normal monkey demons, dude." OG!MK: "Oh my gods the Monkey King *is* our dad in another universe! Mei is never gonna let me forget this!" CenturyEgg!MK: "Well techinically he's my mom too so..." The Other MKs: "lol wat?" JTTWEgg!MK: "lol same."
The different MKs collaborate to tell stories about themselves (and get a solid PSA on Stone Eggs) while their respective Meis are snapping photos with eachother.
The different monkeys watch on nervously. The different monkey kings are sitting politely as their Macaques hiss at eachother from across the room.
OG!SWK: "So uh... did you tell him yet?" Other Monkeys: "Tell him what?" SlowBoiled!SWK: "About him being made by Nuwa, or the fact that we were forced to abandon him?" The CenturyEgg and TMKATI monkeys: "What." TMKATI!SWK, laughing nervously: "What? Oh gods no. I thought you guys meant telling him who we are!" The Other Monkeys: "Wut" CenturyEgg!SWK: "Your MK doesn't know that you guys are... Us?" TMKATI!LEM: "Nah, we've sorta been off-the-grid ever since genius here [thumb-points at his SWK] got me pregnant with our MK." The Stone Egg au SWKs: "Hah!" "Uno reverse card, plums!" Stone Egg LEMs: *all three have varying looks of horror, indignance, and bashfulness* SlowBoiled!LEM: "I said I was sorry!" OG!LEM: "Wait... what do you mean by sorry?" SlowBoiled!LEM, looking uncomfortable: "Cus of our uh... fight under the Mountain, and me not returning to feed him, I sorta caused Wukong's body to create a Stone Egg... and then I sorta died before I found out so..." JTTWEgg!LEM: "Ooof. Glad I learned early then." CenturyEgg!SWK, to his SlowBoiled counterpart: "Oh bummer, you got left with Stone Egg all the way back then? I started up the process willingly after I had to seal away DBK. When was the little guy born?" SlowBoiled!SWK: "Little lady actually. Yuebei was born about six months ago. Our MK was crafted by Nuwa - then again I did raise him the first year until I became too weak to care for him..." *looks sad* TMKATI and CenturyEgg monkeys: "Oh no..." :( "Stone eggs are super dangerous to the people around them. I don't blame you." JTTWEgg!SWK: "Odd. I got an Egg from the mountain too - but mine was born shortly after I completed the Journey. And mine was our MK. Did losing Mihou make the process longer??" OG Monkeys: "What?" "How many of you have MK as your kid!?" (*Cue them having to make a Venn Diagram of Whos' MK is What to Whom*) OG!SWK: "Ok so! Mine and the guy with the super-adorbs baby got our MKs dumped on us." SlowBoiled Monkeys: *proudly showing photos of their Yuebei* OG!LEM: "The me in sweatpants had him cus of a comet /slash/ stone egg soul mishap." TMKATI!LEM: "Oh, my Wukong was still responsible there. He sealed the Harbringer's soul inside me after using a sealing spell. TMKATI!SWK: "I panicked, ok!" OG!SWK, pointing at the remaining universes: "Annnd you two literally birthed him yourselves." CenturyEgg and JttwEgg SWKs: "Yup." "Stone shell and all." OG!SWK: "...is there anything else I'm missing?" The other universes: (*scratching their chins in thought*) SlowBoiled!LEM, slyly: "So are you guys back together yet, or what?" OG Monkeys: "What!?" "As if!"
Laughter just erupts around the room as the canon shadowpeach pairing realises that they're the odd ones out as *not* being together.
Complete and utter chaos reigns when the parent and MK groups reunite, and they recognise some sort of connection...

Could Wukong use his "golden eyes of truth" to see MK's monkey form? - a theory
This little theory started out, when i remembered a chapter from "Journey to the west".
In the chapter where they meet The Lady Bone Demon, or "The White Bone Demon", as she is originally called, she uses a disguse to try and fool the pilgrims. Yet Wukong realises this pretty quickly because of his "golden eyes of truth".
So, in other words he can see when "demons" are disgusing as "humans".
Now where have i seen that before....
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So my theory is:
Wukong didnt know that MK came from a stone egg like him, which is mentioned by one of the creators of Monkey Kid, David Breen:
Tumblr media
That would mean he didnt MK was a Monkey, untill he met him for the first time, which would maybe be here(or probaly earlier)?:
Tumblr media
Wukong might just have been out patrolling or something, when he suddenly saw this silly noddle delivery boy. But quickly realised, with the help of his "golden eyes of truth", that this "noddle boy" was a monkey like him.
This then would lead to him "watching him", like Wukong mentions in the pilot, untill he figured out what he could with this new information.
Conclusion: When others see a silly noodle delivery boy, Wukong sees someone who could kill GODS.

How did Wukong find MK and decide to adopt him?
non-spoiler answer: wukong found mk when he was small, had a rare moment of empathy, decided to adopt him and raise him as his own.
(season 4 spoilers: context taken from later episodes in the season. also bad end mk lore, ig)
spoiler answer: stone egg.
mk comes from a similar place as wukong; made from the same stone, although mk came out as a young child instead of a fully formed adult. despite having a small thought about "sparing" mk the pain of a life as a monkey demon by killing him then and there, wukong decides to adopt mk and raise him to be as strong as he can. think of it like an extra middle finger to heaven from the monkey king (that and the fact that the only person wukong ever would have felt comfortable having kids with has been dead for thousands of years and he isn't sure if she's gonna reincarnate, so mk may be his only chance at having a legacy).
i have a theory that the reason mk looks human in the show is because he saw humans when he wandered into the city, so he unconsciously changed his form to look more like them. like, the magic that created him knew he'd be safer if he looked human.
however, seeing as villain wukong decided to adopt him and raise him alongside the other monkeys of ffm from the beginning, mk's form in this au is similar to the monkey form we see in the show. he has better access to his powers that way, on top of swk actively discouraging him from looking human.
it's like the reverse of what we see in the show. mk has been raised (by wukong) to believe that humans are mostly terrible, so he should be happy being a monkey demon. when he does his gold magic glitch-out thing from the later episodes, he looks human during said glitch. it's a sort of reflection of his mental state; he's come to see himself as more human because of his exposure to mortal society and his changing ideals, but the distrustful, cautious side of him can't face that fact.
the mk of this au has some considerable differences from the normal mk. the biggest one being his skill level in combat. in this iteration, swk has been training him from day one, so that classic mk clumsiness is practically nonexistent. the kid's basically a living weapon (almost) on par with one of the greatest fighters in the world. there's an innate power and grace in his movement.
he's a lot more brutal in his fighting style as well. you get trained by a villain notorious for going all-out, you learn to not pull your punches no matter the opponent.
this is compounded by the fact that mk has his own staff. villain wukong isn't about to give up his signature weapon, and it doesn't seem like that much of a stretch to just...go steal another magic pillar from the eastern dragon palace.
"Like that old codger could stop us. C'mon, kid, let's go get you a real weapon."
another difference is mk's general attitude. sure, he's still a fairly happy kid, but he was raised to always keep his guard up. strike first, ask questions later. his first meeting with mei was an all out battle, because he didn't understand that this dragon decendent wasn't trying to hurt him. he's a bit more serious here too, and it's mei who's the upbeat one between the two of them. she's also the one that introduced him to pigsy, sandy, and tang. she's kinda his safety net as far as mortal interactions go, teaching him the ins and outs of mortal culture.
this version of mk can kick red son's ass stupidly easily. the whole dbk family, really. to the point that red son's terrified of him, though he tries to hide it behind a superior attitude. this could go for all the demons in the show, really. mk scares all of them to a certain degree.
he wouldn't reallyneed his friends help, in this au. he's got this idea in his head that he shouldn't be dragging his much less powerful friends into fights he can easily finish on his own. he's been raised with a "help yourself, because noone else will. in fact they'll be in your way" type mentality when it comes to battle.
his story in this au is more of a "allow people to get close to and care about you, not everyone is trying to kill you" arc, instead of a power-up, training arc. mk needs to learn to let people help him, and allow himself to be open.
to sum it up; mk is seen as a monster like his father, and is learning to be less of a monster. he wants to be a hero.
"I...I don't wanna be like him. I wanna be better, I want to use this power to help people, to protect them! I just...don't want to be what the world thinks I should be."

"That day"
Tumblr media
That was the day Wukong found out about MK. Several decades after he finished the journey to the west and after they went their own ways and especially after he defeated the Bull Demon King and retired, he returned to the flower fruit mountain to spend the rest of his life peacefully and without a single worry. Just taking care of his little monkeys present on the island and passing unnoticed by the nearest city on the other island, from which he got most of what he could besides seeing people evolve with time.
Over time he noticed that as much as he had the company of the monkeys, he didn't have much to talk to, he wasn't very social and he hated talking to others. But he wouldn't deny that it was lonely being on that island alone, but that he'd rather be alone than be bothered by anyone. But one day that all changed when he felt something unusual on the island, not only the wind was more agitated but his monkeys disappeared for a few hours, and that made him worried. He followed the monkeys to the top of the highest mountain on the island, to his hatching site. There he managed to find his monkeys but also something new and... familiar at the same time.
There he lay on what looked like pieces of a rock egg, shattering onto the stone in front of him and onto the floor. And as he got closer, the more he heard the sound of a child's cry. The more he felt confused... Until he sees him for the first time. Small and whimpering was a little dark-furred monkey, similar in physique to other monkeys but his appearance was almost identical to Wukong's when he was younger. The difference is that Wukong was born with a physique similar to that of a teenager, but this child... Well, was a child!
He just stared at the child in shock, while his monkeys just stared at the it sitting on the rock with a face full of tears. Wukong didn't know what to do, he just grabbed him by the fur with one hand slightly away from himself. Looking closely he could see the almost golden eyes and the same as his, and most importantly, the facial mark on his face, however different in color, it was identical. Whoever this child was, this child was like him. And so, Wukong had no idea what to do... Other than letting out a long sigh cursing Buddha for handing him a responsibility he didn't ask for.
And so, with hesitation, Wukong accepted it for the time being. But he would have a visit to a certain goddess like he always did.

LMK MK Thoughts and Theories!
Tumblr media
I just wanted to share my thoughts on this topic of MKS origin With everyone sharing their theories I thought I share mine as well. So to really get into this we should go back to MS Suhbodi by that I mean Memory Scroll Suhbodi. But with what we heard in the memory scroll through his lines of ......
Tumblr media
“Although this was the stone from which Sun Wukong once sprung, it appears, over time, it was used to form another. A simple creature with no past, no family, and no name. ”
and
“Without question, you were not born from the stone as he was. Who or what you are, even I do not know the answer."
The main words that caught me, about the creation of me were in quote one that the stone that made Wukong was used again to make MK but in quote two not in the same way as before this is where the image of the goddess may be seen as Nuwa and I can agree with that guess.
Tumblr media
With the words I mentioned earlier and the mention of Nuwa who made humans out of clay well think what is clay? Clay is a type of fine-grained natural soil material containing clay minerals. Where I am going with this is that by using the shards of the remaining rock that hatched Wukong, Nuwa used them to create the clay to make MK.
Tumblr media
Like with ceramics the words mentioned in quote one, “It appears OVER TIME” When you are done forming the clay you must let it set out to dry before it is ready to be put in the kiln. This means MKs' clay self was left to cultivate similar to how the rock that acted as a rock womb for Wukongs' egg was cultivated by the energies of the Sun, moon, heaven, and earth. Most likely she used larger shards of the stone egg of Wukong to create a shell to let him dry and cultivate in the power. Like we saw in Mks' own flashback the pieces of the egg coming together around an energy sphere.
Tumblr media
Also with how he was formed was sort of a tribute to the book forming of Wukong. Wukongs' egg was not hatched round but hatched after having heavy and stormy winds form a monkey shape first before hatching. MK was formed with more precision and control than Wukong. That might also explain the broken monkey figure in the memory scroll.
Tumblr media
In the book, there were two rocks that made Wukong the first was larger and acted as a rock womb for the egg when the large rock split open the rock egg came out, and ....
"When the wind blows on the egg, it turns into a stone monkey that can already crawl and walk"
Wukong was formed by the winds and Mk was formed by a godess. However, that would make the rock egg from his flashback the rock womb and the small monkey figure his egg. The broken monkey we see above is the shard from his hatching. It also gives us the already walking and crawling because still covered in mud and dirt Mk is standing and walking. (also seen by the mud trail left behind him.)
Also, that would make MK part stone monkey but more a clay monkey is my main thought. And maybe why he came out with a human form. Nuwa made humans.
Tumblr media
Now all that is left is to find out why. Why would this goddess make another stone monkey after all the first one had done? Along with another thought. Earlier I mentioned the quote from MS Subhodi "over time." This means there is a possibility that MK was formed years and years ago also like Wukong his rock womb was still at the top of the mountain for an unknown amount of time, no one could tell you when it was placed there. So MK could have been made maybe even during the JTTW or any time in between Wukongs' hatching and this image of recent years.
Tumblr media
Tell me your thoughts in the notes :)
Hope you all enjoyed it!

So, Nüwa The Creation Goddes made MK out of clay (or at least looks like it), reasons still unkown.
Because well, if this theory is true, it means two things
1. The reason MK is so similar yet so different from Sun Wukong is esencially because Sun Wukong was created by nature, little by little, millenia after millenia, step by step. And if you know the first thing about nature, is that it is both chaos and order, the one and only perfect machine, the one that invented itself. So, Sun Wukong is, at heart, a force of chaos and nature, and even then, there method in his madness. There is order in chaos.
But MK, MK was crafted to be like that, by the person that helped nature into existance, or at least kickstarted it. MK's birth was rushed, and if the dirt clinging to him when he first met Pigsy, quite literally half-cooked. He is nature's missing child, meant to be a replica of something that didn't need replacement, but needed rest.
And following what Sun Wukong said, that he never really saw himself being a menthor, and that he was watching MK some time before he got the staff.
So this leads me to think that Nüwa knew that Sun Wukong was always going to be needed, but that he still isn't ready to come back. MK was crafted to help Sun Wukong recover, to take over when he needs rest.
But of course, Sun Wukong would never accept that, his pride and fear of compromise wouldn't let him.
So if we remember MK's flashbacks, the stone egg shaters and get put together again. So Nüwa weighted her options and used pieces from Sun Wukong's stone egg to make a being that, either he wanted it or not, would be always attached to him. But this needed to be at a time when Sun Wukong wouldn't notice something like that, and she needed to be fast.
So that's why MK has human looks, Nüwa needed to make him fast, to hide him, and to make sure that he would be, most importantly, safe. Because, A mortal child with the powers of the Great Sage? If Tripitaka had it hard traveling as a grown ass man who (sorta) knew to take care of himself with a whole ass set of super powerfull demons and a dragon, just imagine MK, small, little, inocent just-happy-to-be-here MK with only Tang and Pigsy to protect him
And 2. It would mean that this, this specific ass scene in seson 3?
Tumblr media
This would be foreshadowing.
And I would start making a collection, this one goes right after Hunter and the Flapjack onesie.

here's a monkie kid crack theory that I Do Not for a second actually believe to be true, but I think is funny so I'm going to share it.
Tang made MK (But he doesn't realize it)
Okay. So, we all know Tang is a big fan of Monkey King right?
Well, what if, at some point, he thinks he's found the remains of monkey king's stone?
Now, at this point no one has seen The Monkey King for around 500 years. And Tang thinks that if he puts the stone back together or soemthing he can use it to bring him back or make a new one or something. (Tang himself doesnt really know what he's doing either. He's just "MONKEY KING'S STONE AFPDHSKJFKSHDKDK" and going nuts)
He told Pigsy about it. and Pigsy doesn't believe for a second that it's actually The Mobkey King's stone. But it keeps Tang out of his shop swiping noodles, so he humors Tang. (Read "humor" as "affectionately tease")
Anyway. Tang spends like a Month trying to do soemthing, ANYTHING, with the stone. Finally throws a fit and gives up, leaving behind everything, finally accepting that the stone was just an ordinary stone.
(And he is completely unaware that during his tantrum, he had activated his powers and that the stone became... something more)
He commiserats to Pigsy for like 2 solid weeks and is so beside himself that he literally doesnt noticed that there is suddenly a small child running around the shop.
Eventually he forgets about the stone, and if it's ever brought up again, he just laughs it off as him being silly and over excited.
For a little while after Mk appeared, he joked to himself that Mk resulted from the stone. But he genuinely Doesnt Actually Believe that! He thinks it's just a joke with himself! and he forgets about the inside joke and the stone completely after a few years.
Its not until present day, whenthey are literally being told (by who? Idk, some celestial being I guess) what happened that Tang even recalls the events. (Cue everyone freaking out lol)
But anyway, yeah that's why Mk looked human, from Tang's powers.
Bonus point: Tang's line from season 1 "I'm sort of like a father figure", is actually mor correct than he realizes

[Once Mac learned that Wukong got possessed trying to take down LBD, the shadow monkey almost 99% decided that he wasn't going to lose his King to that bony biotch. And depeneding on how messy the Samadhi Fire ritual goes, the last thing Wukong says to Macaque is along the lines of "You ruined everything!", and Macaque doesn't want those to be the last words he hears his King say…] + [And soon Macaque started to remember how much him and Wukong discussed Having a family once the war on heaven was over, and how much they both wanted to be parents…]
he spent this whole time trying to put the... whole thing with Wukong on hold until he was free from LBD's control. keyword being trying, ofc. things don't really work like that when you're tasked with hunting the other monkey in question and his friends down, so he accidently made things worse and know he's trying to reign everything back in long enough to have even a chance to fix it.
[Its also around the time Macaque really has it sink in that; "Oh sh-t. I attacked the Monk and fought Wukong when he was pregnant. No wonder he killed me." He isn't sure how to build himself up to discussing this fact with Wukong yet, but he'll get there.]
it's probably something he decides to bring up shortly after the whole s4 debacle. Between the fight from right before ep 1 to the world almost ending again, he doesn't want to risk his death potentially being another surprise argument that gets out of hand or risk another world ending event getting in the way of any substantial healing again. he knows disagreements are normal and even healthy in any kind of relationship, lest the relationship be codependent, but he'd rather not fight about that.
[Red's hair is ruined with baby monkey drool by the time someone gets Yuebei off of him.] + [Nezha, angry flames flaring up: "You mean to tell me that you were "with Stone Egg" during the ritual to separate the Samadhi Fire!? She could have suffered the same fate as Ao Lie!" Wukong, guilt-ridden: "Yeah. Don't remind me. She kicked me non-stop for days afterwards."] + [Yuebei: *tries grabbing Nezha's skates to test the "spicyness"*]
Wukong is laughing at Red the whole time.
Ne Zha def feels a bit guilty about his first reaction being to bring up Ao Lie's death, probably knowing how Wukong feels about it.
and aww no, no I'm picturing Wukong so in pain from Yuebei's distress that he's basically bedridden. I imagine he'd spend this time resting with Ao Lie until they both recovered (atleast on the surface) while the other pilgrims fuss over both of them.
Ne zha can only squawk indignantly when Yuebei manages to get her mouth around one of his rings, immediately trying to pry it from her little jaws. with him and Wukong combined it takes 10 minutes and the promise of a lot of fruit to get her off. luckily the rings aren't perpetually on fire.
[And the dragon's last words to assure his friend that he never blamed him for the accident, nor his baby. Ao Lie was just sad that he'd never be able to meet the cub in this lifetime. He just wants Wukong to stop being so hard on himself for it. If only the dragon he tell him that in person.]
Scroll of memory! Ao Lie already broke the mold by interacting with Mei, he breaks it again when MK + Macaque are scroll diving for Wukong by telling him to pass on the message to the king that his stance on the matter hasn't changed.
[He def makes an awkward apology once they run into eachother at the start of S3. He refuses to let Wukong get into danger or exert himself tho - Nezha's a momma's boy at heart after all.]
Wukong insists it's fine, and that Ne Zha couldn't have known that he kept it from basically everyone, but Ne Zha still feels bad about everything regarding the ritual. he intends to make up for it by doing whatever he can to protect Wukong and his little one now (even if Wukong insists its not nessecary)
[Spider Queen hears the sounds of a thousand knuckles cracking and realises that she's looking at the person who might as well be the Monkey King's Mama. SQ ain't even mad by the end of it.] + [And although SQ kinda trusts the demon a little more, she's far more hesistant to step on the Monkey King's toes than before if his Mama's gonna respond. SQ is a lot more scheming for the rest of S2.]
I love the mental image of Guan Yin using their hundred hands to aid in their righteous beat down
Spoder Queen knows she kinda deserved this, she did put a heavily pregnant person who is practically made of magic in a magic draining web. she was basically asking for this.
she will take this loss with the dignity and grace of the queen (believes she) is and not bother Wukong again (yet) she promises- please don't punch her again.
[LBD almost in the same fashion it tried absorbing the Samadhi Fire so many years ago - guess his baby found the ancient demoness "less spicy".] + [BTW I love the art you did for this scene!! Stone Egg had enough of LBD's nonsense and was Hangry, and Bama had spoken some sense into Baba, and now Nom NOM NOMNOM.]
she is very icy!
and I'm glad you like the art!
[Oh gosh Macaque realising that the baby looking like him brings Wukong joy too would make him cry even harder. He almost cost his mate everything by risking the world over his own debt to the Bone demon. Mac would gladly have died all over again if it kept the baby safe.]
Macaque is an inconsolable sobbing mess of emotions for a while after first meeting Yuebei, for a lot of reasons. and imagine how hard he cries when Wukong first names her out loud officially calling her "Sun Yuebei Xing" for the first time, Yuebei being a moon inspired/adjacent name. he's practically wailing at one point.
[She plants a big kiss on Yuebei's forehead, forgetting that her lipstick stains. Her husband chuckles, still teary-eyed, at his wife's embarassment at planting a big kiss mark on the baby's head.] + [MK is having unknown instinctual urge to curl up with Yuebei (his honorary sister) next to the other monkeys. Pigsy laughs that MK did the same with his fave plushie for years.]
Wukong laughs at the befuddled chirp Yuebei makes when PIF kisses her.
he would also very much welcome MK into his nest with his sleepy little family.
[Also, Mac is def the kinda guy to use exaggerated versions of the Brotherhood's voices when narrating villain characters in Yuebei's books. The little raspberry noises (or "Boos" as Mac likens them to) she makes at the voices encourages him even further.]
I love this. He so would. Wukong would be laughing his tail off the first time he hears Macaque voicing a villain with an over exaggerated Peng voice, Wukong actively encourages him to do this as well.
[And considering Yellowtusk is the only one with the sense to feed and bathe the hostage infant, he's not surprised when she turns on Azure and Peng specifically.]
I'm now thinking of a scene where yellowtusk manages to get Yuebei away from the others long enough to give her bath, and she's fussy about it but baths with her Baba and Bama in the mountains hot springs were usually fun and calm and she felt better afterwards so she didn't put up much of a fight when Yellowtusk tried to get her into the water. anything that reminded her of her parents is comforting right now. but she's crying the whole time and chirping for her parents as she's very far from home and with no one she recognizes, but this elephant is giving her fruit and cleaning her as best he can, so maybe he's okay? she ends up clinging to his trunk like how'd she would cling around her parents neck, and thats how he got his sore trunk during Yuebei's "tantrum". it wasn't her getting mad at him the same way she got mad at Azure and Peng, she was just scared and clung to the first person she felt was safe with, her uncontrolled baby strength leaving it's mark despite him being the only one she didn't really feel threatened by.
kinda sad note on Yuebe missing her parents, but I feel like she'd have seperation anxiety after the s4 debacle. she needs at least one of her parents in the room with her at all times when she's awake or she's wailing at the top of her lungs.
[Some of Peng's feathers are stolen too (Yuebei had a mouthful of them) and Macaque and Sandy turned the feathers into a cat toy. Mo and Yuebei both adore it.]
this is amazing Macaque would so let Yuebei keep a "trophy" of her victory over Peng in the form of a baby appropriate toy. he also is def never letting Peng live down that they lost to a baby if they ever meet face to face again. hell, they day he got Yuebei back he was ragging on Peng for their loss before the bird could even be peeled off the ground
Sequel to this Slow Boiled au post.
[he spent this whole time trying to put the... whole thing with Wukong on hold until he was free from LBD's control. keyword being trying, ofc.]
Yeah, Macaque is having a not-so-fun time trying to get used to being alive again, being still in love with his former mate (who killed him), having his soul indebted to a omnicidal Bone Demon, his former mate having a baby etc...
After finding out about MK and the Stone Egg; Mac was sorta half-hoping that he could duck LBD enough to slowly absorb the whole Wukong situation, maybe meet up with some old allies, get some answers, that sort of thing. The Mayor kidnapping him really threw those plans out the window.
[it's probably something he decides to bring up shortly after the whole s4 debacle. Between the fight from right before ep 1 to the world almost ending again, he doesn't want to risk his death potentially being another surprise argument that gets out of hand or risk another world ending event getting in the way of any substantial healing again.]
It's def a super awkward thing to approach, especially with Yuebi literally just being born and stuff.
Wukong now knows that Mac knows, and is super guilty for not having told him back then. At the same time, Wukong is confused why Max seems so... ok with it suddenly??? Like;
Wukong: "Dude, I killed you." Mac: "Yeah, and I attacked you while you were carrying a baby. Lets call it even." Wukong: "You didn't *know* at the time!" Mac: "Don't matter. Lets just drop it ok?"
Mac does have his own super complex issues regarding the whole "being killed by your former mate"-thing, but in his mind - he really could have killed Wukong and Yuebei if he hadn't been careful. He also knows that in his heart-of-hearts, he wouldn't have even considered fighting Wukong had he known about the Stone Egg ahead of time. He ultimately doesnt want to open up any old wounds Wukong has from the incident since he's been living with the outcome of that fight far longer than Mac has.
Bumping around Wukong's memories in S4 really dredges Mac's buried resentment and confusion about the last fight to the surface. Questions like; Why was Wukong protecting the monk that hurt him? Why was Wukong going on this Journey and not returning to his throne? Why did he hide the Stone Egg from the world?
MK is politely trying his best to let Mac vent to him about what happened between him and Wukong, but ofc they quickly stumble into MK's shared history with the Monkey King.
Lots of hugs, peaches, and family counselling is required afterwards, not doubts about that.
[and aww no, no I'm picturing Wukong so in pain from Yuebei's distress that he's basically bedridden. I imagine he'd spend this time resting with Ao Lie until they both recovered (atleast on the surface) while the other pilgrims fuss over both of them.]
Ao Lie and Wukong are quickly panicking over eachother while their other bros are forcing them to rest after the Samadhi Fire Ritual. Wukong was in so much pain that he was convinced that he was going into labor, or that he even lost Yuebei as a result of joining in the Ritual. Eventually though, the Stone Egg calmed down. Ao Lie's pain did not.
[Ne zha can only squawk indignantly when Yuebei manages to get her mouth around one of his rings, immediately trying to pry it from her little jaws. with him and Wukong combined it takes 10 minutes and the promise of a lot of fruit to get her off. luckily the rings aren't perpetually on fire.]
Yuebei mistook the rings as chew toys and liked the shiny gold colour. It takes Nezha a solid minute of apologizing to Wukong for his past behavior to notice that the little monkey cub has clamped her mouth over one of his skates. Wukong is laughing hysterically, especially as Nezha tries his best to gently remove the ring from Yuebei's mouth without activating it. Luckily all it takes to distract the baby is for Experienced Dad™ Pigsy to pull the oldest trick in the book.
Tumblr media
Pigsy: "Got your nose, mooncake!" Yuebei, drops ring: :O! Nezha, quickly picks it up: "How did you know to do that?" Pigsy, still holding Yuebei's "nose" as the baby grabs at him: "You'd swear MK was half-garbage disposal from how much stuff he tried to eat as a toddler. Stealing his nose always worked." Wukong, a little wistful: "Tell me more, please?" Pigsy: "Sure thing. Guess little monkeys aren't much different from little MKs." *gives Yuebei her nose back*
Nezha makes note of hiding anything flammable whenever he visits the monkeys.
[Scroll of memory! Ao Lie already broke the mold by interacting with Mei, he breaks it again when MK + Macaque are scroll diving for Wukong by telling him to pass on the message to the king that his stance on the matter hasn't changed.]
Oh gosh... Imagine this though... Wukong trapped in the Scroll, busting on through his memories. Suddenly he hears a familar voice...
Ao Lie: "Wow! She really did make us all wait, huh?" Wukong, frozen in his tracks: "What?" Wukong: (*slowly turns to see the memory of Ao Lie, far older/frailer than what Mei had seen, standing by and watching the memory of Yuebei's first day of life.*) Memory!Ao Lie, smiling: "She's a perfect little pup... Mei was right on the money when she called her a ball of cuteness! She really looks like you! The blue eyes are a little unexpected, but considering that your mate dragged himself out of Diyu to be there - I guess anything could have happened!" Wukong, lip quivering: "No... you're just that memory curse. Ao Lie never got to see her! You're not real!" Memory!Ao Lie, frowning: "Why are you so stubborn to admit that it wasn't your fault? I really truly never blamed you, or her." Wukong, crying: "Why were you so ok with it? Because of me, the Samadhi Fire it... hurt you." Memory!Ao Lie: "I would rather die protecting my family than live and let them be hurt in my stead." (*quietly moves to hug Wukong*) "That includes you and your pup, Wukong. Always has." Wukong: (*now sobbing, hugging Memory!Ao Lie tight*)
Eventually the Memory!Ao Lie has to remind Wukong that he has friends to reunite with in the present. Wukong hesistates to leave Ao Lie alone again - the memory reassures him that he'll be fine as long as his pilgrim brother lives his life without the weight of the Ritual upon his shoulders. And to make sure to spoil Yuebei in his stead.
[Wukong insists it's fine, and that Ne Zha couldn't have known that he kept it from basically everyone, but Ne Zha still feels bad about everything regarding the ritual. he intends to make up for it by doing whatever he can to protect Wukong and his little one now (even if Wukong insists its not nessecary)]
Ofc Nezha feels like garbage for treating Wukong's actions during the Ritual as a failing.
Wukong thinks he has it bad with DBK, PIF, and Pigsy forcing him to rest? Imagine how stubborn Nezha is when he's worried over the Monkey King.
[I love the mental image of Guan Yin using their hundred hands to aid in their righteous beat down] + [she will take this loss with the dignity and grace of the queen (believes she) is and not bother Wukong again (yet) she promises- please don't punch her again.]
Spider Queen isn't sure who she's afraid of more; the spooky ancient bone demon pretending to be a little girl, or the 1000 Armed Bodhisattva that just whooped her hard (but mercifully let her live) for hooking the Monkey King to the power-draining Spider Mech. Spider Queen makes sure not to directly target or interact with the Monkey King or his protege if she can for the rest of S2.
The Spider Gang has nightmares of Guanyin coming to beat the rest of them up like she's a Jojo stand.

[she is very icy! and I'm glad you like the art!]
It's really great art!!
Also LBD's soul probably tasted like shaved ice with a hint of chalk. Lots of it, but pretty bland. It filled up Yuebei at least!
[Macaque is an inconsolable sobbing mess of emotions for a while after first meeting Yuebei, for a lot of reasons. and imagine how hard he cries when Wukong first names her out loud officially calling her "Sun Yuebei Xing" for the first time, Yuebei being a moon inspired/adjacent name. he's practically wailing at one point.]
Aww ohoho! Macaque makes so many joyous squeaking/hooting sounds during Yuebei's arrival. To hear that Wukong has named her his little "Moon Comet Star" just makes him cry harder, especially with how casually Wukong names her. Like he'd had it it long before this moment, before he even knew that Macaque was back in his life.
I think in older Chinese traditions, the parents typically wait for the Man Yue (30 Days) celebration to publically announce the baby's name. But I bet Wukong is just so happy that he tells everyone Yuebei's name long before that time.
Nezha insisted on being at Yuebei's Man Yue to bless her, as that's his whole Patron God of Children thing.
[Wukong laughs at the befuddled chirp Yuebei makes when PIF kisses her. he would also very much welcome MK into his nest with his sleepy little family.]
There's def a bunch of photos of the incident with Yuebei looking at PIF with the most confused doe-eyed look ever, a huge red kiss mark on her head. The Princess looking embarassed and adoring all at once. It's PIF anf DBK's fave baby photo of Yuebei - besides the one where she tried eating Red Son's hair.
MK is very tired after the battle, so the gang has no problem just letting the kid rest in the nest with the monkeys. t
[I love this. He so would. Wukong would be laughing his tail off the first time he hears Macaque voicing a villain with an over exaggerated Peng voice, Wukong actively encourages him to do this as well.]
Heehee, Macaque finally agrees to read Yuebei a kids-friendly version of JTTW at MK's insistence, and when he gets to Camel Ridge, he pauses before looking towards Wukong for confirmation. At Wukong's excited nod, Macaque grins evily.
Macaque, narrating: "In the kingdom of Lion Camel Ridge, there lived three Great Demon Kings." Macaque, exaggerating the real voices: "Azure Lion! Yellow Tusked Elephant! And the Golden-Winged Peng!" Yuebei: *blows raspberry at the villains!* >:P! Macaque, normal voice: "Yeah, boo! These guys sucked!" Wukong: *laughing hysterically!* MK, sitting cross-legged on the floor: "Did they really sound like that?" Wukong, trying hard not to cry from laughter: "It's closer than you think!"
Macaque also deliberately exaggerates the voices of their allies like PIF and DBK so Yuebei doesn't accidentally associate their voices with the muddy past shown in the book.
[I'm now thinking of a scene where yellowtusk manages to get Yuebei away from the others long enough to give her bath, and she's fussy about it but baths with her Baba and Bama in the mountains hot springs were usually fun and calm and she felt better afterwards so she didn't put up much of a fight when Yellowtusk tried to get her into the water. anything that reminded her of her parents is comforting right now. but she's crying the whole time and chirping for her parents as she's very far from home and with no one she recognizes, but this elephant is giving her fruit and cleaning her as best he can, so maybe he's okay? she ends up clinging to his trunk like how'd she would cling around her parents neck, and thats how he got his sore trunk during Yuebei's "tantrum".]
Awwww..... :(
Yellow Tusk brings up the matter shortly after their takeover. Their former ally's cub is very fussy (especially since Azure has had her for about half a day now) and is starting to smell... ripe. Peng takes one sniff and recoils in disgust. Azure is clueless and isn't sure if monkey cubs work like lion cubs or not. Yellow Tusk has the sense to ask the remaining servants for help with tending to the infant - a group of seven brave orchard maidens stepped forward to run the baby a bath and prepare her a meal. Yellow Tusk is sure that he recognises them.
Baby monkeys instinctively cling to whatever is nearby - especially in situations where they feel scared or unsafe. So when the elephant gently put Yuebei in the warm bathwater and offered her mashed fruit, she instinctively clasped around his trunk like it was the arm of her parents, making sad hooing sounds as she sucked on her fingers. Yellow Tusk felt his heart break at the sight. He simply cannot fathom harming her in any sense of the word.
Azure must be mad to think that Sun Wukong won't kill them all to ensure this child's safety.
[kinda sad note on Yuebe missing her parents, but I feel like she'd have seperation anxiety after the s4 debacle. she needs at least one of her parents in the room with her at all times when she's awake or she's wailing at the top of her lungs.]
Absolutely.
Baby monkeys are already super clingy - the trauma of Yuebei's kidnapping during S4 only intensified this. She fears that if either of her parents leave the room, that they might not come back. Considering it was her parents arguing and "something" (aka the Scroll) taking her Baba away preceeded her kidnapping...
The first few times it happens, Wukong and Mac + the extended fam are terrified and aren't sure *why* Yuebei is so distressed. Eventually they figure out it's her anxiety, and are able to at least keep a clone posted to ease the worst of her worries when the others babysit. MK thankfully is one of the figures that Yuebei is calm around, and while she loves her uncles and aunts; Yuebei still starts wailing after a few minutes of realizing that she can't find her Baba or Bama.
It takes a long time for the baby monkey to be comfortable to not have her parents in sight. And considering how worried and overprotective that Wukong and Mac can be of her, they aren't in any rush to force her independance.
[this is amazing Macaque would so let Yuebei keep a "trophy" of her victory over Peng in the form of a baby appropriate toy. he also is def never letting Peng live down that they lost to a baby if they ever meet face to face again. hell, they day he got Yuebei back he was ragging on Peng for their loss before the bird could even be peeled off the ground]
Imagine the smug look on Macaque's face as he sees Peng reduced to a chicken burger on the ground by a *baby* with not even a tooth in her head. Mac would make a show of picking up his baby girl and kissing her all over while commenting in baby-talk; "Did you have fun with the birdy and kitty, moonlight? Yeah? Do you want Bama to take something to remember your little play date?"
And before Peng could make a snarking comment, they squawk! at the feeling of feathers being removed. They look up and see Yuebei playing with a handful of golden feathers. The Shadow Monkey grinning like a cat who's caught a mouse. The celestial bird faints from embarassment.
Macaque has one of the feathers preserved as a bookmark. It brings him great joy.
Again tysm for being so invested in this au!

While I do like the Eldritch MK theory, someone suggested that instead of being the reincarnation of a past enemy, MK is instead a sacrificial lamb for an enemy to come back (with him being referred to as harbinger).
Which raises a whole other question of who he is meant to be a sacrifice for.
Baby MK overall gives off the kind of vibes where he was created to be destroyed, doesn't he? I mean, why else create a "simple creature, with no past, no family, and no name". If something was just born (from a stone or not) of course it doesn't have any of those things—why specify it? You would only specify a detail like that if it was significant to why MK was created in the first place.
Which, this thought is not exclusive to Eldritch Abomination MK or to Harbinger MK, overall that feels like the implication. MK was made to be sacrificed in one way or another, whether that's to stop a past enemy, a returning one, or some other thing.
So, with MK being a sacrifice to chaos, I'm wondering why he would be given so much power. *throws dart at my idea board* Maybe he was made as some sort of ticking time bomb, created to destroy himself plus whatever threat he was meant to be a sacrifice for. *throws another dart* Or, perhaps he was created to be able to go toe to toe with whatever ends up being the embodiment of chaos!
Just to throw another dart at the wall: maybe MK was made as a counter measure to chaos itself! "There's a reason you were at the center of all these stories", that reason being to maintain balance and prevent the end of the world (of which he's done like, 4 times over now). "You don't use a weapon...you ARE a weapon!" aka MK is the ultimate weapon against literally any big bad.
Of course I'm partial to my own theory, but this is definitely a neat idea!

What are all your AU‘s if I may ask :3
I saw a picture of a blue MK (he would never wear blue except if a certain bone demon was involved)
So I was wondering, what kind of story’s you have :)
Hi! So currently I have the Old Bones AU, which is a bad end au where LBD won and remade the world. The gang all gets reincarnated and is trying to learn what happened to the old world and how to stop them! MK was actually adopted by LBD in this world, since she noticed he was reincarnated and decided to keep him close incase MK caused more chaos. Wukong and Macaque look like humans due to the fact when they were born, they were disguised to seem like humans for their own protection, similar to MK in canon heres some assorted doodles from the au not yet released
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then theres the Forgotten King au, which is kind of a mentor swap. Its based on the theory that Macaque Replaced Wukong after his appearance in the JTTW. The Jade Emperor basically ordered Wukong's Death and used Macaque to do it, finding a way to exploit his immortality and end hims traight to the diyu. Wukong obviously takes Macaque's place and LBD makes a deal with him. She puts his soul in a stone egg, but it will only awaken and enable him to use the body once the child is of age. The PLAN was to make Mayor raise the child, but it went wrong along the way and Macaque saw the stone egg child and dropped it off with Pigsy, keeping an eye on him. Macaque still keeps alot of secrets from MK, especially him being a product of LBD and Wukong's magic. Not to mention Wukong himself. So a spirit Wukong offers to train MK, and puts a circlet seal on his bandana. After gaining enough power he takes over MK. But due to MK basically being his own person and not the husk that LBD planned. Macaque is able to get MK back, but half of his power splits, giving Wukong a physical body. Things escalate similar to canon from there.
