The Truth (Americanized Part 2)
Part 2 of that oneshot I wrote for @newjerseyshlol Keep in mind that Oklahoma has been brainwashed and manipulated by America since 1890ish in Kai's headcanons for this, and the fact that this is not my headcanon.
Oklahoma's POV Fall, 1970
"Okie!" I heard Father call. My head shot up from where it had been resting on the table, and I quickly rushed towards my father's voice.
"Yes? Do you need me?" I asked, coming up to where he was. Father nodded, and sighed.
"I need to tell you something Oklahoma. Something that I definitely should have told you a while ago." Father said.
"What is it?" I asked, curious.
"Oklahoma..." Father began, before hesitating slightly, "Oklahoma, the five civilized tribes didn't kidnap you."
"What?" I gasped out, nearly falling over in shock.
"I gave you to them to raise." Father said. No that...that couldn't be true.
Could it?
"Why?" I asked in a strangled voice. My Father loved me. Why would he have abandoned me with Indians?
"Because you were Indian Territory. But when Oklahoma Territory was created, I knew you would become a state someday. So I forced them to give you back." Father said. I nodded. Father has talked about this many times before.
"You saved me from them." I said. Father sighed, and shook his head.
"I stole you from them. They were your family." He said. Now I was the one shaking their head.
"No. You saved me from them. You are my family! Not them!" I insisted. Why was Father saying all these weird lies right now? He knew the truth. He had taught me it.
"That was a lie. I never saved you. I said that to manipulate you. Oklahoma, I'm sorry." Father said.
My breathing was quick and panicked. I turned and bolted out of the room, and upon entering my room, slamming the door shut and locking it.
"He's lying, he's lying, he's lying, he's lying. I'm American. Father saved me from the natives. I'm an American." I said, trying to convince myself that what Father said wasn't true. He had to be lying. He just had to be.
All that had happened since 1890 couldn't be a lie.
I felt like I was falling, like I was drowning. Everything was too much. My world, my safe world, my life, it all had been ripped away with those few words, with that revelation.
Father had...he had manipulated me. According to him at least. I didn't feel like I had been manipulated.
Maybe this was part of some bad joke, maybe I had done something wrong. Had I acted unamerican? Had I acted too much like an Indian? Did I make them not trust me anymore?
"I'm American, I'm American, I'm American." I muttered in desperation.
I was American. I wasn't an Indian. Why did Father say those things? I must have done something wrong.
I needed to do better. I needed to be better. I needed to make sure Father knew that I was an American, though and though, regardless of the manipulation I suffered at the hands of the Indians, and regardless of the lie Father had just told.
Maybe that was why he told me. Maybe this was a test!
That had to be it! This was a test by Father so I could prove to him that I was no longer corrupted by the Indians that kidnapped me. I smiled.
I was going to pass this test.
I was an American. Not an Indian.
Anyone who said otherwise had to be wrong.

Texlahoma:
Well~ when I started in the statehumans fandom, I used to ship and still shipping Texlahoma but I started without knowing the red river rivalry and I thought:
2021 me: "They're neighbors, they look cute together in my mind and now in my thoughts I declared them 'pololos' and husbands!!"
But then in 2022 I knew a little bit about the rivalry but just like:
2022 me: "Oh umm ok... They have that thing about the river thing but I think a 'hate to love' thing will work"
Then now in 2023 with WTTT I found the ship Texlahoma very hilarious and like:
"ajajajajshsjajajj!! Esos weys... *risas*" and "Aw~ they have story and they hate each other..."
"..."
"S3xual tension"

Americanized Oneshot
Based on @newjerseyshlol‘s Headcanons for Oklahoma. These aren't mine, but I loved them so much I just had to write a oneshot for him on them. The headcanon is, in his words:
"Basically, Oklahoma was given to the Native tribes that were forced out of their homes in the trail of tears when he was a baby, and the tribes were told he was theirs to keep. While they were suffering substantially and certainly not happy, they tried to raise him the best they could, though it was a struggle. America infrequently checked on who he called 'Indian Territory', but eventually he started to become set on claiming his lands for himself. So naturally, America took Oklahoma away from them and basically re-raised him to be more American. Nowadays, Oklahoma is nearly unrecognizable to the tribes that'd raised him"
Also please check him out. He is amazing.
Choctaw's POV Summer, 1900
"I miss Oklahoma." I said as I walked with my fellow "civilized tribes" through Fort Gibson. We had agreed to meet here to talk with each other about contact from Oklahoma, which had dwindled to a halt. We were worried, and had just spoken for an hour pouring over his letters, trying to see if there was any cause for concern.
But we found nothing. And that was more worrying than something.
"So do I. I'm worried. What if America did something to him and, or banned him from talking to us. You've heard about what they have been doing in those schools. What if the same things are happening to our son?" Chickasaw said, worry clear on her face.
"America sees him as his son, even though he abandoned him-" Cherokee said, as Creek patted her shoulder comfortingly, "-and I don't think he would do that."
"But like you said, he abandoned Oklahoma. What if he did?" Seminole pointed out.
"Seminole. ᎰᏩᏧ. You aren't helping anyone's worry." Cherokee said. Seminole groaned.
"Cherokee, we can't trust America! When has he ever given us a reason to! He forced us off our lands, he took our son to 'raise him properly'. I don't trust him with Okie's safety, and you shouldn't either." Seminole argued, making an excellent point and one that we probably all realized, just were too nervous to voice.
"I know Sem-I-is that Okie?" Cherokee said, cutting off her statement and pointing further down the street. I looked to where she was pointing and nodded. Oklahoma's hair was shorter, but that was him.
"That is him." Chickasaw said, relief in her voice.
"OKLAHOMA! Hę̄r's cē!" Creek yelled, as we began rushing over. I saw Oklahoma's head briefly turn to face us before turning away again and continuing down the street.
"Oklahoma, wait!" I said, as a wide grin began to spread across my face. I put my hand on Oklahoma's shoulder, and he knocked it aside. My face changed to one of shock and confusion.
"Okie?" Seminole asked. Oklahoma turned to face us, and the first thing I noticed was how blank Oklahoma's face was. He kept it neutral, expressionless. His eyes seemed distant, and conflicted, before they settled on resolute determination.
"What do you want?" He asked, his voice empty. He was speaking English. And his accent had changed too. It sounded like a perfect American accent. It sounded like America's.
Creek let out a small disbelieving laugh, "Okie I know we haven't seen you in almost a decade, but you don't have to be so formal. We're your family after all!"
"No you aren't. I am not related to any Indians. My only family is Father and the other states." Oklahoma said in the same blank tone. I felt as if someone had stabbed a knife in my heart.
What had America done to him?
"ᎨᏍᏗ ᏱᎪᎵᎢᎦ." Cherokee said.
"I do not speak Indian." Oklahoma said, looking at Cherokee. The knife in my heart twisted.
"That's Cherokee. Not Indian. Okie you know that language. Cherokee taught you." I said.
"I only know English and French. I don't know any Indian tongues." Oklahoma said. I felt sick. America had done something to our son. He warped him into a copy of himself, a copy of the same people who had put him through so much strife.
"Yes you do. We raised you with our languages. We taught you them." Seminole pleaded. Oklahoma barely spared him a glance.
"You did not raise me. Father told me about how you kidnapped me to use against him, and raised me to be an Indian so I would fight against him. Luckily Father was able to save me and had helped me realize what you did. So stop calling me nicknames. Those are reserved for family only." Oklahoma said.
"But you are our son!" I insisted. Oklahoma's neutral expression book and changed to one of fury.
"I am not the son of savages." He said. The knife buried itself deeper and deeper and kept twisting all the while.
He was so different now. What happened to my Okie, the one who would sit on my knee and ask for stories? The one who barely spoke any English, after living with us for so long. The one who showed so much emotion in everything he did.
"Iki, iki!" I remember Oklahoma, a young age of seven said as he approached me once, long ago, his hands clasped tightly around something.
"What is it iso nakni?" I had asked. He had smiled, showing his missing front tooth, and proudly stuck his hands out.
"I caught a frog! Look at it Iki!" He babbled, gasping as the frog jumped out of his dirty hands. Tears had welled up in his eyes.
"I'm sorry Iki!" He had cried. "I lost the frog."
I had smiled warmly at him. "There will be other frogs. But if this one means so much to you, I will help you catch it again. How does that sound Okie?"
He had said yes, and we caught the frog together.
Oklahoma was my son, my family.
But Oklahoma...he...
"What did America do to you?" Cherokee asked angrily. The blank expression returned.
"He simply taught me who I was supposed to be." Oklahoma said.
"But this isn't who you are! What did America do to make you this way? Did he hurt you?" Chickasaw asked.
"Father helped me so much. I will forever be in his debt. He helped me become an American, who I am supposed to be. Now, I have no reasons to talk to a group of Indians outside of politics, so unless you have something of that nature to discuss, I'll be on my way." Oklahoma said. We were silent, the shock rendering us speechless.
Oklahoma nodded, and turned around and began walking back down the road.
He didn't even say goodbye.
I fell to my knees and began sobbing. America has stolen my son and turned him into a stranger. I shouldn't have let America take him. But I did. And now Oklahoma was gone.
My son was gone.
