TG. Venus Fun Fact: She's claustrophobic
[Reposting for extended length]
(Scenario: Some of the Straw Hats are trapped in a small room)
"Let's just stop panicking, and figure out how to-" Nami stops when she hears a certain greenhead breathing heavily out of nowhere. "Venus, you okay?" The small witch appeared to be hyperventilating, before she starts letting out strangled squeals, gripping her hair tightly. "V, what's wrong?"
"Are you sick?" Chopper asks.
"No, I-I'm freaking out!" Venus cries. By now, everyone is looking her way in concern, as she squeals. "Ba-back in Loguetown, some of the-the townspeople locked me in this box; I was in there all day, be-before I passed out, a-and woke up in the bar! I-I can't handle being trapped in small spaces like this!" As she kicks and shoves at the walls, even dropping to the floor, flashbacks flood her mind, and she loses control.
"Hit the deck!" Everyone ducks for cover when weaponized energy balls blast from her hands every which way; they don't leave even a dent on the industrial walls. "She's having a freak attack! What'll we do?!" Sanji rambles.
"I don't know!" Zoro exclaims helplessly.
"Let us out!" Luffy angrily pounds on the door from his spot on the ground.
Usopp kneels down in front of her, ducking to avoid another attack that almost blows his hat off. "Hey, hey, hey, Venus, Venus, relax," He tries to coax her, "Look at me, look at me." His hands move up from her shoulders to cup her cheeks, as another squeal comes out. "You're okay, baby, I got you. I got you, you're okay. Come here, you're alright." He holds her close, rubs her back, and soothingly pets her hair, as she pants and whimpers in his shoulder. "I got you now." Everyone watches, and cautiously stands up, as Usopp rocks her back and forth, gently shushes her, and whispers assuring words in her ear. She manages to relax her arms, but her breath stays shaky.
It's not too long before they're finally released by the rest of the crew. Usopp frantically barrels past everyone, while carrying Venus like a kitten, to get her the hell out of there as soon as possible.
Once they're out, he sits on the floor with her, as everyone else files out. "Hey, Venus? Venus look, we're out of there. See?"
Through calming, yet still shaky breaths, she realizes he's right; they were free. "Oh, th-thank God."
"Yeah," He agrees, "I was really worried about you. We all were."
She hums with a little nod. "Sorry I scared you all."
"No, don't be sorry, V." She blushes when he tucks her hair behind her ears. "You couldn't help it."
Before anything else can be said, the rest of the crew joins them. "Come on, we're going back to the ship!" Nami announces.
"Oh!" Without thinking, Usopp gives Venus a quick kiss on her forehead, his hands still on her cheeks. "Let's go, V." He grabs her hand, oblivious to her now feeling stunned, and they quickly follow the others.

phew I had to take a hiatus to work on other projects but now that those are done I'm baaaack
god I'm SO fucking excited for this arc, I fucking love it
OH NO TAILGATE...I almost forgot...this poor little dude
REMAIN IN LIGHT BABEYYYYY!!! I fucking love that title, talking heads is probably my favorite band Ever, and that album is one of my favorites, so when I first saw it here I was super excited lol. it’s such a good title, both for the album and for this arc

also...I just love the way milne draws cyclonus, he’s the perfect mix of terrifying and handsome, and also goth

so there's the end of issue one of remain in light! aughh, I'm so fucking excited for this arc. my first two readthrus this was one of my favorite arcs (my other fav being the time travel arc), and I'm excited to see if its still at the top for me
I feel like the first time I read thru I like this arc a lot cause I actually understood most of it hbvhadjkfbaksjf unlike all the previous stuff, where I was a bit more confused - at this point I at least had a decent grasp on the characters and relationships, so that helped a lot
also apparently one of the songs of this issue is ‘heaven’ by talking heads which AUghhH that song makes me wanna float in the ocean and look at the stars. idk. also I find it a little ironic that that song isn't off the album remain in light lol
either way I love this issue, strong start to the arc with lots of intrigue and worldbuilding, and clearly some incoming status quo changes...cant wait!!

A/N: this is my first ever tg fic! I wrote this right after I finished That episode (s2 ep12). This is also inspired by a gif I saw in the tags that happens in a future episode of tg:re. I haven’t actually gotten that far just yet, but hopefully getting close. Well, hope you enjoy some angst!!

Ken Kaneki has sweet dreams. How does he know? Hide is in them.
Hide smiles as he watches Kaneki’s eyes flutter open and connect their gaze to his. “I’ve been wondering when you’d come and visit me.” he says, opening his arms for a hug he knows will come soon.
Kaneki takes a moment to realize where he is, and how he got here, and how Hide is still a l i v e…? But as they usually do, the memories come rushing back and it feels like he’s losing his best friend all over again. Flinging himself towards his open arms, Kaneki welcomes the familiar feeling of Hide’s arms around his midsection.
“Hide,” is all Kaneki can muster, the overwhelming grief bubbling up in his chest, threatening to climb its way to his body until it spills out in floodgates of tears.
Hide responds with a pull and a squeeze, just like he always does- always did, and lets Kaneki cry until he can no longer.
When his cries have lessened to uneven breaths, Hide unwraps his arms from the ghoul’s body and settles in front of him, legs crossed, their knees touching. “I’ve missed you, you know. I get lonely when you’re not here.” he teases, gently jutting his foot forward to give Kaneki a kick.
And there it is. That sweet, shy laugh Hide has missed so much. Kaneki’s lips part ever so slightly and the edges curl into a smile that make Hide’s heart flutter. He’s always been the one who’s made him feel so alive. Even in death.
“I’m sorry, you know I’ve always had trouble sleeping. And when I became this,” he pauses and motions to himself. “sleep was even harder to come by.” His gaze falls to their touching knees, and his hand follows until his fingertips rest on top of Hide’s knee. “But lately it seems like I’ve been able to get more sleep.”
Oh Kaneki. Hide smiles. He’s always been shy when asking for affection. Luckily, Hide’s always been willing to give it. He can’t even begin to imagine how touch starved his been since-- he brings his hand towards Kaneki’s and laces their fingers together. The embarrassed but thankful smile that erupts on Kaneki’s face makes Hide feel like it could jumpstart his heart.
Hide lets his eyes roam over Kaneki’s features. The last time he saw him was less than ideal. Face overcast with grief and pain, tear stains on his cheeks, a hollow, lifeless look in his eyes- even the ghoul one. When Kaneki realizes what he’s doing he turns away, covering part of his face with his other hand, and lets out an embarrassed noise to which Hide can’t help but want to tease him over. Using his free hand, he grabs Kaneki’s other hand and give him a small pull. “Stop that, let me look at you some more.” he begs. Face a deep shade of red, Kaneki can’t say no to him, and slowly turns his head so that the two are facing one another once more, eyes meeting.
“Hey this is new.” Hide reaches up and places a hand on top of his head, brushing the tips of his fingers over the black roots sprouting from his once pure white hair. Kaneki shivers at the action, and so Hide does it again.
Trying not to focus so hard on the electricity running rampant through his veins, Kaneki responds with a nod. “Yeah,” he has to focus on speaking since Hide doesn’t seem to want to let up with his electrifying touch as he begins to card his fingers through his hair. “I guess I’m becoming more like myself these days…” the rest of his words fall short as he feels himself getting lost in the other’s fingers in his hair. But that feeling is gone way sooner than he would like, and before he can protest, Hide’s hand is now cupping his face, thumb gently stroking his cheek.
“Kaneki,” Hide’s voice is gentle but firm. “You’ve always been you. Even when you became a ghoul, you were still you.”
Kaneki tries to look away, but Hide is quick to correct him and guide his gaze back to him, where it belongs. “I mean it.” he reiterates, thumb stilling against his cheek.
This right here. Of all the things that Kaneki has missed the most about Hide- and there were many- this made the top of the list. The reminder that no matter what, he was still himself. No matter if he was human or ghoul. He was still Ken Kaneki.
Turning into his hand, Kaneki closes his eyes and allows himself to get lost in Hide’s gentle touch as his thumb starts again. “I’ve missed you,” he murmurs, heart starting to ache. “I’ve missed you so much.”
Hide smiles longingly at the man before him and he is happy. So, unbelievably happy it hurts. He doesn’t want Kaneki to leave again. The happiness he just felt begins to waver. It takes him a minute to respond. “I’ve missed you too, Kaneki.”
Silence settles itself fondly between the two for what seem like hours but is only minutes; neither of the two having a care in the world, just enjoying each other’s consuming presence. Breaths shallow and even. Free hands lacing fingers together. A warm feeling coursing through their bodies. This was the essence of Kaneki and Hide’s relationship. Gentle touches, steadiness, and love. This is what Kaneki missed dearly. Hide’s touch. His steady, even breaths. His warmth. Him.
“Hide,” Kaneki speaks softly, and Hide’s thumb stills once again.
“Yes, Kaneki?”
Kaneki turns and presses a gentle kiss to the other’s hand. “Nothing,” his lips curl into a smile against Hide’s warm skin. “I just wanted to hear your voice is all.” Opening his eyes to take a peek at Hide, he notices the faintest tint of a blush on his cheeks and he smiles. “Gotcha. Made you blush didn’t I?”
Hide lets out an embarrassed laugh and takes his hand from Kaneki’s cheek to scratch at his own. “Yeah, you got me, Kaneki.” the bright smile that Kaneki loved so much, the smile that filled him with so much hope and happiness than he had ever experienced, began to fade.
“Hide, what’s wrong?” he already knew. He felt it too.
“You’re going to wake up soon.” Hide wasn’t looking at him now. His cheek was cold due to his hand was no longer on his cheek.
Kaneki couldn’t find say anything.
“It can’t be helped. You can’t sleep forever you know. That’s not healthy.” That makes Kaneki smile, after everything, Hide still shows concerns about his health.
“I’d sleep forever if it meant I’d get to spend time with you.” he says, taking Hide’s hand into his own.
“All those romance books you’ve been reading have really made you into a sap, huh?” Hide teases, bringing his hand up to cradle Kaneki’s face one last time. “You’re adorable, Kaneki.” His thumb starts back up on his cheek, and Kaneki closes his eyes, desperate to hold on to Hide for just a little bit longer.
“Something sentimental.” he hears Hide say.
When Kaneki opens his eyes for the second time, he’s awake and alone. At first, he stirs, wondering where Hide is, and then it hits him. Everything, all at once like it always does after one of those dreams. He can’t help but curl in on himself as grief threatens to knock him over. The tears come before he can stop them, washing down his face in an uncontrollable manner. All he wants is for Hide to come back. To wipe his tears away and tell him that it’s going to be okay.
A lingering touch against his cheek brings him back to the present and he can’t help but croak out a laugh.
Hide.
That’s his Hide. Never failing to let him know that despite their current situation, Kaneki’s never as alone as he feels. Hide’s always with him. No matter the situation. And for right now, that’s comfort enough.

what would your favorite tumblr mutuals be in tg universe (human, ghoul, ccg, goat, aogiri, etc) and one headcanon about them?
this is actually gonna be super hard to answer, anon, so sorry it’s taken a while! i have too many favorite tumblr mutuals, and i won’t even be able to put them all on here!
@the-goats-fool would be a ghoul, and i imagine he’d be kind of a mix between tsukiyama, banjou, nishiki and ayato, if that makes any sense? equal parts joke and seriousness. he’d lighten up the situation but also do what needs to be done. he’d be a member of goat, and also no one would listen to him because he’d suggest things like “let’s all just pee on them”.
@captainhunterman would be a ghoul and a member of the white suits i think. he gives me such a naki vibe, he has to be. he loves his friends dearly but will also rip apart anyone he doesn’t particularly care about, in whatever grotesque way he can think of. he and @madghoulworld would work really well together in torturing people.
@mawjaw is a member of the ccg, but i think she’d be a bit of a skeptic. she’d probably be one of the first to offer to join with the ghouls, but she’d still keep a bit of a distance. even still, everyone would love her and she’d lighten up the atmosphere. eventually she’d join @coromoor and i and we would make our own organization of chaos and destruction👏
@coromoor is definitely a ghoul, but another one who is equal parts wise and funny (mostly just funny though). she’d most likely be a member of goat, but i can also imagine her as a member of the clowns or v as well, cause she’s good at hiding her dark side. she’d have a secret plan to run the show from the shadows. kinda like furuta! 🤔
@thiccthighshaise would be a half ghoul, member of goat, and they would be the one to bring everyone together with their optimism and charisma! everyone would follow under their leadership despite some of their suggestions being questionable (like let’s all wear cowboy hats and assless chaps... but everyone would still end up doing it)
@madghoulworld would be a ghoul, though i could also imagine her as a human in the ccg as well! she wouldn’t deal with anyone’s bs and she’d be the voice of reason. kind of like the mother figure, and a member of goat. she’d also enjoy killing people and keeping their body parts. 👀
@fangirlingforeverz ghoul, and totally kickass. she takes NO SHIT from anyone and lives to destroy anyone that even tries. everyone should be afraid of her but she’s also a leader figure that everyone listens to. also a member of goat!
@lilacflamesss… i feel like would be a ghoul and she would wisely watch from the shadows before deciding who to work with. she’d also start shipping people together?? and writing headcanons about them when they aren’t looking. she’d share them with @arvendell and @harleyquilt, who would also both be ghouls but be more neutral.
i can’t get to everyone right now but i hope some day i can come back to this and add more on, anon!

HONESTLY SUGIMOTO BEING IN THE TEAM WOULD BE AMAZING CAN THAT HAPPEN???? i think his character is really nice and he had a great arc so if that doesn’t happen it’d honestly be a waste :/ and ohhh i haven’t read much more of the webtoons but i did check these sites!! sighs being broke sucks bc even if we want to support the author we need to stick to reading online bc we can’t afford it :( mangago is where i usually read stuff too lmao
honestly not to be that person but i love haikyuu klsjflnsk i totally recommend it even if it’s really popular now and some people might think it’s overrated... I DON’T THINK SO LMAO the characters are all great and they ALL have nice arcs with lots of character development!! a downside is that the pace is painfully slow, like the matches usually go on for months but it’s totally worth it :’) ppl get obsessed over it for a reason!!! me included!! i love sports anime/manga and i LOVE volleyball so haikyuu is rlly a blessing to me :’) but lksdjnfsa i’m not saying you should read it or trying to pressure you to do it anyways, i’m just saying it’s nice :’)
ohhhh i actually read a lot of fanfics LMAO there was this popular social media called orkut and there was these comunities things, kinda like forums, and people would write original stories there and i LOVED it so when orkut went down i started to read a lot of fanfics lmao i don’t usually mind the ships bc i don’t care about shipping as long as the story is good lmao but i do have some restrictions sometimes and if it’s about a TOTALLY notp i can’t read it even if it’s from one of my fave authors lksjdnfa like with gusari she makes some oikawa x matsukawa djs sometimes and it’s not exactly a notp but i just can’t enjoy them lksjfnaks maybe bc i’m so used to her iwaoi ones :/ but either way lmao I ACTUALLY read once an ishigaki x imaizumi fic too lmao it’s a rare pair but it’s kinda interesting to see that ppl actually ship them?? fun fact but ishigaki is my fave hakone dude kljsnfda the worst about rare pairings is that.... it’s rare LMAO so when u read a really nice fic about them it sucks that u can’t find many more :/ like i mostly read haikyuu and free fics and i really like some rare pairings in both fandoms like daichi x kuroo and makoto x rin LMAO
HONESTLY i tried to watch hetalia once but i think i only watched the first ep or something, but gusari has a few djs of them and they’re?? so nice?? angsty and perfect, that’s how i’d describe her djs LMAO i’m glad you liked it!!! i’m glad you’re liking the other ones too ^^ AND OMG DON’T WORRY ABOUT NOT WATCHING IT YET LKSNFLSKA i can totally understand you as i, also, have the tendency to start new stuff without watching/reading those i had already planned on to lskdjfn
