The fact that the response to Janet Cage as a character in MK1 has been overwhelmingly positive, especially with female players(and to the horror of the broflakes game wide) is proof positive to me Sonya Blade should have been base roster for MK1 and not just a kameo. It's a hill i'm willing to die on that excluding the strongest female fighter from Earthrealm was a massive mistake. She and Cassie Cage are badly needed in MK1(and yes, I've seen the datamine that says CC will be DLC.) I would LOVE to be able to run Sonya with Janet as a kameo. Total dream team❤️

I'm genuinely so mad about MK1 (2023) removing Johnny Cage's Green Aura but I don't think yall know how fucking insane that is.

Since the original MK1 he's had these powers. They're a base part of his game abilities. He's got the iconic power ball in MK1, the kick, everything! It's literally a massive part of who he is as a playable character and they've decided to just. Take it out. For no reason. To be quirky. 30 years of shadow kicks and force balls just gone because they wanted to be unique. They weren't even this ballsey when they rebooted into MK9. He's got the same stuff in MK9-11.

I genuinely don't know what the fuck Netherrealm are thinking with this game, the more I find out about it the more I greatly regret my preorder. Another massive gripe I have is not having Sonya Blade confirmed for main roster yet. She was the first ever female Mortal Kombat character. She's been main roster in pretty much almost every single Mortal Kombat thing that exists. Every movie (minus Snow Blind), almost or even every game, even the comics she's in, and the animated series!! Only keeping her as a Kameo Fighter would be extremely disrespectful to her legacy and history within the series.

And honestly I'm barely even going to touch the Scorpion is Lin Kuei shit, I'm not even qualified in trying to explain why lumping in a Japanese character in with a Chinese clan feels a little icky, let alone retconning that heritage completely if God forbid that's the direction they're going in. It just feels like a rushed mess where they've taken multiple shots in the dark to try and be different and unique.

Truth is they've just pissed off a good portion of the fanbase, given us a new system which is just a ripoff of Tag Team Assist in MK11 but worse and somehow bastardised beloved characters worse than Sindel in Aftermath. And considering how bad Sindel is? It's absolutely INSANE.

I think ill play the preorder bonus closed beta first and then decide.

Oh gods I just heard the "Someday, Lieutenant Bae" VO line from MK1 and there is _longing_ in that voice. The rest is... the right kind of compliments for her. But that "someday" line? Oh, he's got it /hard/. While there's light insults and nicknames and a bit of fond trashtalk, the lines for the Sonya Kameo: No sugar, all spice. Let me just say, damn. Sonya Blade. Someday, Lieutenant Bae.

And he's definitely got lines for _everybody_. Johnny has NO compunctions about complimenting the aesthetics of anyone. (finish the Cage Mansion Invasions level, change your announcer voice pack to Johnny, then choose everyone and dive into lines. the VA, Andrew Bowen, knocks it out of the park like always... and he's got a good few for Kenshi, Kung Lao, and Raiden.)
