Pernille Harder and her special drive
There was a lot of recognition when Britta Carlson spoke about the first task in the newly created Nations League for the German footballers. The fact that the DFB women first face Denmark (Friday at 6 p.m./live on ARD and in the Sportschau live stream ) is a “nice challenge ,” said the interim head coach.By
Frank Hellmann
" Denmark is a top opponent: a robust, defensively strong team, but also with qualities on the offensive." And "Pernille Harder certainly stands out as a top player. "
From her many years as an assistant at VfL Wolfsburg, Carlson of course knows best what Harder in particular embodies on a good day: world class. The star striker, who has been under contract with FC Bayern since this summer, claims the ball just as smoothly and elegantly. Hardly anyone in the penalty area has such instinct and such precise finishing.
The special connection to the venue Viborg
The fact that this international match is taking place in Viborg reminds the 30-year-old of her beginnings as a footballer; for her this is now a special home game: the Danish captain comes from the small Danish town of Ikast. At the age of ten, Pernille Harder came to the Midtjylland Youth Academy with her sister Louise - as the only two girls. "My sister was invited, and basically I wanted to do it because my sister did it. I've always looked up to her."
It soon became clear that she had even more talent. She played for Team Viborg for three years before moving to IK Skovbakken in 2010 at the age of 17. Two years later she went to the Swedish club Linköpings FC, where she was already scoring goals on the assembly line. At the end of 2016 she moved to VfL Wolfsburg because the current women's football director, Ralf Kellermann, had been following her career for a long time.
Pernille Harder: To England as Germany's Footballer of the Year
The commitment was worth it, because with Harder the factory club won the double four times in a row, only narrowly failing in the Champions League final twice before Harder moved to Chelsea as Germany's female footballer of the year three years ago. Until then, she had made the difference for the “she-wolves” often enough.
"Even when she's at less than 100 percent, you feel her presence. When you need that one moment to make the difference, she's the player to do it, no matter what condition she's in," said her former coach Stephan Lerch , who now trains TSG Hoffenheim.
The Dane was also held in high esteem in England, as Chelsea's charismatic team boss Emma Hayes revealed, who greatly regretted her departure to Munich: "She is one of the most eccentric characters I have ever coached. I will miss her eccentricity, no question, hers Attention to detail, their thirst for victories. "
At the World Cup, Denmark lost to Australia in the round of 16
This only became visible again at the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. Denmark had prevailed in the group with England, China and Haiti when they entered the atmospheric round of 16 against hosts Australia in the huge Australia Stadium in Sydney. In the end, after the deserved 2-0 defeat, no one seemed as disappointed as the Danish captain, who embarrassed the “Matildas” several times in the early stages.
But at some point it seemed as if Harder was fighting against elimination on his own. Their disappointment was palpable, but superstar Sam Kerr, with whom Harder had played at Chelsea, provided consolation. Her move to Munich together with her partner Magdalena Eriksson had already been confirmed since last year. An exclamation mark also for the women's Bundesliga, which is struggling for international attention.
Bayern's sports director Bianca Rech tried early on to get the two top players Harder and Eriksson free of charge. The fact that the coup worked reveals a lot about the international ambitions on the Bayern campus. “These are two experienced personalities who help us a lot – on and off the pitch ,” praises Rech.
Whoever takes the Danish striker out of the game has gained a lot
Harder certainly brings with it a higher level of recognition and perhaps also a greater glamor factor. She is a big personality in Denmark, whose greatest success in the national team was certainly reaching the 2017 European Championship final against the Netherlands. Although the atmospheric final in Enschede was lost 4-2 against the “Oranje Leuwinnen”, who were then coached by Sarina Wiegman, the Danes had at least won 2-1 against Germany in the quarter-finals on the way there. Harder scored her 50th international goal in the tournament. It goes without saying that she has long been Denmark's record goalscorer, with 71 goals after 145 international matches.
And yet she often has to fight for support in the national team, where the Swede Andrée Jeglertz took over from Lars Søndergaard after the World Cup. Whoever takes Harder out of the game has already gained a lot. The DFB women turned the tables again in the first group game at the European Championships in England, and Germany carried the momentum from the 4-0 win against the team with no chance around the attacker who was withdrawn throughout the tournament. Carlson now expects a game on equal terms. Or as the 45-year-old said: “A nice challenge.”

I mean Wolfsburg definitely wasn't a small club when P signed AT ALL 😂. But she definitely stayed longer at Linköping than she could have. Think she always chose clubs where she felt her presence would be actually helpful.
And yes Lyon has wanted her since her Linköping time.
It wasn't meant as the Wolfsburg jump but all the way back in Skovbakken. Bigger clubs wanted her but she chose Sweden as the first step and then to a big club

🚨NEW PERNILLE INTERVIEW 🚨
Conversation with Pernille Harder, Chelsea FC
We meet Pernille Harder in Kingston Upon Thames in London. The setting for the interview is Spring Grove. A classic sports pub in the better part of London. It is in the same area that Pernille lives with her girlfriend Magdalena Eriksson, with whom she plays on a team in Chelsea. She came to Chelsea in Sept. 2020 from Wolfsburg. It was a trade that made her the world's most expensive female football player. The price tag is obligatory, and Pernille has lived up to that.
Her performance has led to her being nominated for "The World's Best Footballer" a short time ago. One of the world's best started in Thulstrup.
Why did you actually start playing football when you were 5 years old?
“There was actually not even a girls team when I started. But I come from a real football family. Both my parents and my big sister played football, and yet I was always up in our local club. So it was very natural. That's what they did in the family. ”
Pernille Harder played in the local club before she first switched to Ikast, then Viborg and from 2010-2012 in Skovbakken, before abroad called for the great talent.
What was life like then as a female football player in Denmark?
“I had to be creative and find opportunities to get better / train enough. It was sometimes a bit of a hassle, also because I wanted to stay in Ikast, which is generally a good sports town. But back then, there was nothing for women’s soccer. So I played in Skovbakken, but was allowed to train with the boys at the Academy in FC Midtjylland. In addition, I had found a trainer who helped me train "finishes" every Friday, in addition to my training in Skovbakken (Aarhus) 4 times a week.
Who participated in the training at the FCM Academy at the time?
"I have trained with Joachim Andersen, Lasse Vigen, Viktor Fischer and Pione of those you probably also know."
Did anyone make a "plan" for you back then?
“It was probably more myself who made that plan. I already knew that when I finished high school, I wanted to go abroad and play football. It was there, the opportunities were to make a living from it. Therefore, also thought only of my development in Denmark. I did not think of titles and e.g. to establish myself in the Danish league first. ”
Who has helped you the most with your career?
Definitely my parents. I could not dream of better support. They have never pushed me for anything, but always been there. I'm just been lucky with them.
Was the ambition even then that you would become one of the best football players in the world?
"Of course. First, my dream / ambition was that I should make a living from it. Not many did then. So that was the first goal. But of course. I have also been Figo, Beckham and many others along the way. ”
The football thing speaks for itself, and as an 18-year-old Pernille went abroad to become a full-time professional. She started in Swedish Linköping. Here it was 87 goals in 90 games before German Wolfsburg called. Here, the Dane scored 68 goals in 75 matches. Pernille Harder became a big profile in the German Bundesliga, and there were offers for her from a lot of big clubs. The competition was so fierce that when she switched to Chelsea, she became the world's most expensive women's footballer. Her footballing qualities are well described elsewhere, but how did she experience the change to the English big club?
“There is a greater interest both commercially and with the media here in England. Chelsea is just a huge club. All our matches are shown on Sky, there is always media present and there is interest from all over the world around the Premier League for women. ”
“When I came to Germany, there was not much pressure on me. I had only played a few years in Sweden and had not proven myself on the big stage yet. When I came to Chelsea it was quite the opposite. Both due to the transfer you mention, Europe's best 2 times and my matches for the European Championships, Champions League and Bundesliga. I was bought in to make a difference from day 1. ”
Fortunately, it has gone well. But what's the plan at Chelsea now?
“We have to win and I have to develop. Expectations are constantly shifting. The biggest ones are definitely coming from myself still. So I have no problem with that. ”
Which development have you been most pleased with?
“It is always mentally hard to change club and change country with everything that goes with it. I think I have been good at dealing with it and I feel like I have developed personally. I have come through the difficult things and learned how to deal with adversity. ”My motivation is still in my development
How is your daily life? What is it like to live in London?
"It's great. It has helped that society is closed up more again. I moved over here in the middle of "the big lockdown". I remember we were cycling around in the middle of a completely empty London. It was very special. But otherwise it is a life where football is the focal point. We come in for training at 10 and is home again at 2 p.m. If we have free time, we might go to Covent Garden or SOHO, where we shop a bit, eat at some good restaurants, etc. These are our favorite areas in London. ”
What motivates you now?
“My motivation is still in my development. I will constantly evolve. I want to be even better. It's very simple. ”
What has been the biggest challenge been in 2021?
“As a person, I do not have a lot of patience. It all should like to play right away. It's just not always like that when you move to a new country. ”
What is the most important thing you have learned this year?
“I have got a good platform and I am very determined about that. One of the most important things for me is equality. This of course applies to football. But I also use my platform to convey my views on gender equality within e.g. sexuality and racism. ”
Who has inspired you the most this year?
I get inspired by stories where people have worked hard for a goal or cool personality mentalities. An example could be Kobe Bryant.
Where are you in 3 years?
“I honestly do not know. I have a contract here until 2023. It could very well be that I extend that agreement. At some point, it could also be cool to come to the US for a small period of time. But it lies in the future. ”
What does your media consumption look like?
“I listen to audiobooks a lot. It's limited how much I actually read.
The last book I listened to was with Rasmus Ankersen. It was called "The Gold Mine Effect."
Otherwise, I use both Instagram and Twitter. ”
What do you want more time for in 2022?
“As a football player, you have a good time in everyday life, so I actually think I use my time very well. Maybe I should look and improve my golf game a little! ” (..followed by a big smile.)
After 130+ international matches for Denmark, does it still matter to pull the red / white jersey over your head?
“It means a lot! It is something very special, and I am very proud to play for the Danish national team. ”
What do you miss most about Denmark?
“It's easy! It is without a doubt my family. ”
Are you coming home to Denmark and playing in the Women's League?
“Not right now at least. One should never say never. It is so difficult to predict the future, but it is not straightforward. ”
Are we behind in Denmark?
"I guess we are. Marketing and branding are by no means the same. I do not know where to start her. One could well miss that FC Midtjylland and FC Copenhagen had a women's team as the biggest clubs in Denmark. I am sure that great value could be created for everyone, concludes Pernille Harder.

The 27-year-old joins us from German side Wolfsburg ahead of our 2020/21 Barclays FA Women’s Super League season which begins away to Manchester United on Sunday. Harder has spent the past three-and-a-half years playing for Wolfsburg and it was there she established herself as one of Europe’s top footballers. She was named UEFA Player of the Year in 2018.
Indeed, it was a trophy-laden stint with the leading club in the Frauen Bundesliga, as Harder won the domestic Double in each of her four campaigns at the AOK Stadion, twice finishing as the top scorer in the German top flight. Her tally of 27 in the coronavirus-affected 2019/20 season was the highest by any player in the Frauen Bundesliga since 2010.
While there is so much more to her game than goals, as evidenced by her ability to play in any position across the front of the pitch or in an attacking-midfield role, Harder boasts a scoring record at the top level of European football that would be the envy of any striker.
At Wolfsburg she found the net 103 times in 113 matches, having previously scored 85 goals in 109 appearances for Linkopings in Sweden, while she averaged better than a goal a game at Skovbakken in her homeland. Add in 25 Champions League goals from 28 games and it is clear Emma Hayes has added another lethal finisher to her already prolific attacking options.
On signing for Chelsea, Harder said: ‘I’m extremely happy and extremely excited to get started, to finally be here and be a Chelsea player. I couldn’t be more happy.
'I’m excited to just play for such a big club, to play with so many amazing players and to also be playing in the league [Women’s Super League]. The English league, it’s so exciting at the moment and I’m really looking forward to it.'
Chelsea FC Women manager Emma Hayes added: ‘Pernille is one of the best players in the world. Her record at Wolfsburg and Linkopings, as well as internationally with Denmark, shows how valuable she has been to her teams.
‘She is a fantastic team player who wants to take her game to the next level. She chose Chelsea as the club that can push her to that level. She can play for any team in the world, but she chose us.
‘She chose the players, the staff, the environment, the playing style. You can’t get a bigger compliment than that from one of the best players in the world.’
Harder’s football journey began at the young age of five at local club Tulstrup and then she moved to Ikast kfum. From there she progressed to Viborg, where she made her debut in the 3F ligaen, at the age of 16 – which is the top division of women’s football in Denmark – and then on to Skovbakken in 2010. Alongside Skovbakken, she trained with the boy's academy of Midtjylland, her local professional team.
Following a move to Linkopings in Sweden, Harder began to show why she is rated so highly in her homeland. During four years with the club she helped them win back-to-back Swedish Cups, playing in the same team as Magdalena Eriksson, who of course is now Chelsea Women captain – and the duo were key players as Linkopings were crowned Damallsvenskan champions in 2016. Harder finished as the division’s top scorer with 23 goals.
Before long, she was making the step up to the upper echelons of European football by linking up with two-time Champions League winners Wolfsburg, who had won their first continental honour at Stamford Bridge in 2013. The league titles continued to come – four in as many years – and each was accompanied by a German Cup in the same season.
European glory eluded Harder, though, as her spell at the club coincided with Lyon’s dominance of the Champions League. Although she netted the opener against the French side in the 2018 final, they fought back to win 4-1. The personal glory of winning the UEFA Player of the Year award, 12 months on from finishing as runner-up for that prize, was no consolation for a footballer who puts the needs of the team ahead of her own.
Harder was the Champions League’s top scorer last year, despite Wolfsburg exiting at the quarter-final stage, and she flourished in her side’s run to the final once again this past season, including a four-goal haul in the 9-1 win over Glasgow City in the last eight. Her final game for Wolfsburg resulted in a 3-1 defeat as Lyon clinched the Champions League trophy for a fifth consecutive season on Sunday evening.
At international level, Harder debuted for Denmark in October 2009 at the age of 16, marking her first senior appearance for her country with a hat-trick against Georgia. The goals have come thick and fast ever since, as she has netted 61 times in 118 matches.
She also captains her country, having taken the armband on in 2016 – and the following year she was the spearhead of Denmark’s run to the final of the European Championship. Although she scored in that game against the Netherlands, Denmark succumbed to a 4-2 defeat against the host nation.
Harder is undoubtedly the leading light when it comes to women’s football in Denmark, as she has been named as her country’s Player of the Year on six occasions, including in each of the past five years.

ASLA PES ETME
Yolda Big Ben'i merak ediyor, yeni hayatımızın nasıl olacağını konuşuyorduk.
Bir kaç gün sonra kamyoncu "geldik" dedi ve bizi indirdi.
Big Ben'i hayal ederken gördüğümüz tek şey ağaçlardı.
Her yer ağaç, her yer yeşillikti.
