🍔 Updated review ━ 📍 Hörnan ★★★★☆ • When we first tried Hörnan in Linköping in 2019 they served the best burgers in town. A few years have now passed since then, and and it was time for a proper revisit. Hörnan have a huge lunch menu, with eleven different burgers to choose from. We ordered a Double Cheeseburger with four patties totalling 330 grams, cheese, onions, pickles, ketchup and mustard for 164 SEK (16 USD) and a Chip and Ray burger with two patties totaling 165 grams, cheese, bacon, chipotle mayonnaise, roasted onions, pickled red onions and barbecue sauce for 124 SEK (12 USD). French fries were included in the price. • Both of our burgers looked very nice, and were carefully assembled with shiny buns and a solid crust. The bun was wonderfully soft and very sturdy and had been toasted nicely on the inside, giving it a satisfying bite. Our regular sized burger was a bit bun-heavy though, and the meat to bun ratio was a bit better on our still quite hefty Double Cheeseburger. Not only did the meat have a deep crust, it also retained its juiciness and was also really well seasoned and flavorful. The amount of ingredients in our Cheeseburger was well balanced, but our Chip and Ray felt unfocused and was a bit all over the place. From the ashes of Beko Discques rises Too Good To Be True. I was a Beko fiend there for a while (use the search engine), and we did post about an early Too Good To Be True release before I knew the relationship to Beko (the acclaimed and now sold out Moscow Olympics LP).

Too Good To Be True (Brest, France) are jumping into the singles club pool. The Slow Summits (Linköping, Sweden) immediately struck me as influenced by Orange Juice and Edwyn Collins. Throw in The Smiths and Northern Portrait and you've got a good idea what they sound like.

I always loved listening to the music that came out on Beko Disques, and now that I know Too Good To Be True is associated with them, I eagerly await hearing more from the label.

And Magda ended saying "maybe we should try playing again, this was quite fun" either she has gotten better at controlling her temper, or she really wants to win over Pernille

🍔 Review № 628 ━ 📍 De klomp ★★★☆☆ • De Klomp is a gastropub located in the centre of Linköping. It has a charming beer hall feel to it, and their interesting beer selection is of course the main attraction. But they also have a short but ambitious food menu that includes a smash burger. The "De Klomps Burgare" contained cheddar, bacon, pickled onions, pickles, mustard and mayonnaise, and cost 195 SEK (18 USD) including french fries and a dipping sauce. • The burger looked very inviting when it arrived, with a glossy bun, great looking beef and loads of melted cheese. The smashed patties were surprisingly fluffy, but the crust was decent and they had been seasoned with just enough salt. However, they had overused the black pepper at too high heat, giving it a slightly burnt aftertaste. The yummy bacon was salty and smokey, with a slightly crispy texture. And the flavourful cheese had melted nicely. However, we hardly noticed their pickles at all, and both the mustard and the small amount of mayo were overpowered by the large amounts of pickled onions. Thanks to the umami heavy flavours, it worked very well with the burger itself, but it was a bit too dominant when we got too much of it in a bite. Their under-cooked french fries had a mealy centre and were a real disappointment. • De Klomp serves a decent pub burger that gets some things right, but there's too many small things holding it back from a higher grade.
