Behind Captured Moments

Sometimes its just you and the moment. As you are in a spotlight blend in the nature. Thinking that there is must be a reason in that captured memory.

A photo of mine taken in Sibalom river posted on my Tumbler last month for our performance task in science and math entitled "Earth and I". This was taken on a gloomy Sunday, last September 24. It will drizzling outside when I went there. While we (with my sibling) take the pic not only for the project. Somehow it remind me of my 10th grade teacher that he said all things are being involved by the math.

A great way to cherish great moments in life is to record once in the lifetime experiences will always be a great way to keep precious moments in our lives.

Don't Drink and Drive

MAY 14,2023 at around 8-9 pm a car accident happened along the national road of Brgy Bongsod, Sibalom, Antique. According to the report of the local officials and Brey tanod both drivers of the said vehicle was under the influence of alcohol. The driver of the silver Honda City bound to San Jose was hit in its upper headlight by the black Toyota Revo due to reckless driving. Both vehicles was partially damage, tires exploded, glass windows shattered as a result of big impact. Reportedly, it was then found out that the driver of a black Revo over shoot to the left lane where the Honda City is approaching. A short period of time, the accident was immediately reported. My loo who is a Brey tanod assisted to control traffic. He said that neither both of the drivers was drunk and luckily not injured. Later at night, Police came to investigate and control and assess the situation. Both cars wa towed for proper investigation. The drivers was unharmed and was sent to their families.

Be alert always. There was an accident in barangay Bongsod, sibalom, antique. The accident was last may 14, 2023

7:59 in the evening when we heard a strange sound. the other people was on hurry to check what was that sound. And when they reach the bridge they see a white car crash in the foot walk and the black car in the middle of the road we hurry up going to the two cars to check their condition. The white car driver is in good condition he only felt that his foot was hurting. When we go to the black car the all passenger is in good condition. When the both sides see each other they talk about who's the wrong. Whe call our brgy. Captain and our brgy. Tanod. The brgy. Tanod respond quickly in the accident and our brgy. Captain call the police. When the police respond the police officer talk the both sides that who's wrong with them. One of the construction worker said to his teammate to bring their excavator to get the one car. When the excavator arrived they tow the black car slowly to the side of the road. Then other people help to push the white car to back in the side of the road. The police officer took the both sides to the police station to negotiate. Then the driver of the white car finally agree that he will be responsible for the all the damages of the black car.

May 15, 2023. 8:30 in the morning when the owner of the white car check the condition of her car. the driver of the white car is a retired police he admitted that he was wrong. He said that he's drunk and he suddenly felt a sleep. the owner of the white car has bring a tow truck to tow his car and bring it to the repair shop

Kanami-nami nga lugar nga pirmi ginalagawan kang mga taho kasan-o nga kadya naguba run tungud sa bagyong paeng. Ang lugar nga akun ginanamin ay ang Gruto sa barangay kang Buga,Sibalom,Antique nga kadya gamay lamang ang ang galagaw o gaadtu kay tungud sa naguba ang aragyan nga paadtu sa Gruto kag kung maydyan man tam-an ka delikado kag budlay-budlay iagyan. Bawal kasulod ang traysikel sa Buga amo ra nga ang mga galagaw rigto ginamotor lang nanda kag kung mapanaw kaw man ay tam-an man karayu amo ra nga motor ang anda ginagamit.

Nag-agto kami rigto kang Abril 6, 2023 biyernes santo kag amo to ang adlaw nga nasaksihan ko kung gaano ka budlay aragyan. Gamayan lang gid kamiatumba sa motor kay sobra kadapol ang aragyan kag pag-abot sa Buga pasulod hindi run kasulod ang motor amo ra nga kaylangan gid magpanaw biskan rayu pa kag kapoy kaw run. Kaylangan baskug imo resistensiya kay kung bukot basi malipung kaw sa kakapoy magsaka kag kainot sa Buga.

Pag-abot sa kamalig kung sa diin pwede kaw kapahuway, dyan run kara maumpisa ang masmabudlay nga aragyan nga inyo tahakun. Paglampas sa kamalig masaka run ikaw pababaw sa taas nga bukid paadtu sa Gruto. Paadtu sa babaw tam-an kabudlay magpasaka pero pag-abot mo sa babaw kung sa diin dyan run ang Gruto ay mabuol gid ang imo kapoy kay bukod sa makita mo ang santos nga Virgin Mary kag makabuol kaw kang tubig nga ginatawag nanda nga Holy Water ay makakaun kaw pa kang anda nga pamahaw nga namit-namit.

Pag-abot mo sa babaw raku man gawa nga mga taho ang imo makita dyan man ang mga taho nga gahulat kaninyu para tugruan kamo kang anda pamahaw kay man-an nanda nga t-an run gid ang imo kapoy para lang makasaka sa Gruto.

Ang lugar nga dya ay tam-an kanami kato pero tungud sa bagyo nga paeng nag-iba ang lugar,nagturumba ang mga kahoy kag nagtiriphag ang mga ragkul nga bato nga kasan-o kanami lantawon pero biskan amo karia ayayga taho man gyapon nga gaagto o galagaw para makakita kang santos kag makabuol kang tubig nga ginatawag nanda nga Holy Water, amo ra nga ginatawag nga penitensiya.

NAGPRUKURAR ANG OLAGA KANG WIDENING KANG ANDANG TULAY

Olaga Sibalom Antique nagprukurar kang pagbuhat kang andang tulay nga naga angot sa karsada. Para hindi run kuno mabudlayanang mga residente sa pagpaadto pabalik sa andang mga durog, kag hi di run mabudlayan mag agi sa ginahambal nga tulay.

Hambal kang andang kagawad nga si Mayla Alojipan “Buhay dun ja nga project kang barangay, kaya lang na umpisahan kay kaya lang nagka budget.” Hambal na.

Nag kumentar man ang andang kapitan nga si Mamerto Esmenos Jr. nga gina hundom nanda ang pagdasig nga tapos kang proyekto nga ra para sa tag ururan, kay kung buhay pa ra matapos mas ma budlayan pagid ang mga residente nanda sa pag agi didto.

Raku nga mga residente ang na lipay nga matapos dun ang tulay kay halos tanan sa mga residente ka Olaga ga obra sa andang durog, kag ga damog kang andang mga kasapatan nga andang parangabuy an.

Pero raku man nga resodente ka Olaga ang wara nalipay sa amo ja nga proyekto kay kuno raku nga puno ang andang mapatay nga pira run ka tuig nga naka tamun didto.

Man got in an accident and paid thousands

On April 27, 2023, a man fell into an accident while riding his motorcycle. The accident happened around 6:15 pm in Cabariuan, Sibalom, Antique. The ambulance came and rushed him into the hospital.

The man actually lost his balance when he was riding his motorcycle, resulting in an accident. He was rushed into the hospital and stayed for 7 days in Anghel Slazar Memorial General Hospital to rest and treat his wounds.

On Saturday, May 6, he was transferred to the AMC for his operation at 4:00 pm. But a problem came and his operation was cancelled due to the fact that the results of his laboratory were not well. The doctors from Iloilo didn't wanna take a risk by performing the operation.

His operation was rescheduled on Thursday. On the day of his operation, his laboratory became worse. The doctors decided to put on a cast for his left arm and left leg.

He got home on Tuesday around 6:00 pm. His hospital bill was around 173,000 pesos and his medicine was around 5,000 pesos.

"Kung ano Ang lesson learn na, kung ang gina advice kana dapat sundon na para mag-agto sa kinalain. Ang doctor run Ang naghambal kana nga bawal tana mag-motor Kay gin operahan run ra kasan-o Ang heart na, sa manila gin operahan. Hindi mag pati mong, ti disgrasya" said by Rosine M. Solito, a relative who helped him.

He is currently at his home resting with scars and wounds all over his body.

GIN-APROBAHAN ANG PAGHIMO KANG PHASE THREE GYM SA CABARIUAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Kang Mayo 15, 2023, Lunes, gin-aprobahan kang Department of Education(DEPED) nga magpahimo kang Phase Three Gym ang Cabariuan, Sibalom ,Antique.

Nagmeeting ang mga maestra, barangay officials, kag ang mga miyembro kang PTA sa eskwelahan kang Cabaraiuan Elementary School nga sanda magpahimo kang Phase Three Gym.

Anda ja gin-aprobahan kay lat-an da nga ang ja nga hirimuon bahol bahol gid nga bulig sa mga estudyante, hindi lang sa mga estudyante kundi pati pati dun man sa iba nga mga taho nga maga-attend  kang mga paguwa o mga programa nga mga magatarabo didya, halimbawa, recognition kag christmas party.

Nagtugro si Gov. Rhodora Cadiao, gobernador kang Antique ka 1 million pesos para makabulig sa pagpahimo kag pakatapos kang hirimuon nga diya.

"Mas nami gid man ang eskwelahan kung ja may gym, bahol bahol gid ang mabulig ka ja hirimuon kanaton, sa mga estudyante, sa mga nanay kag tatay." Hambal ni Sally Pikol Padrillan, sangka secretary sa barangay Cabariuan.

Problems In Panama: Water Crisis And Global Trade

They [ships] come in from the freshwater side. The water that provides these [canal] locks come the three nearby lakes. You need to lift these ships [with freshwater] at an altitude of 85 feet above sea level. The canal has to use freshwater to transit the ships through, and that water goes right out into the ocean. We’re wasting huge amounts of freshwater to make these operations work. It takes about 52 million gallons of [fresh]water for every ship that you transit through the canal. (Dahl, 2024)

Panama is one of the most rainy countries in the world. Freshwater has always been abundant, so they really haven’t considered it as scarce resource before. Panama’s per capita consumption is 2.5 more than world’s average.

Now there’s a global El Niño. Panama’s water problem is affecting global shipping lines and trade.

The tough part of working with rivers is that you’re going to have to share them with farmers. Now we in the water utilities sector can always use the Law, the Water Code of the Philippines, against the irrigation sector. We can say to the irrigation sector that we’re the first priority, but we don’t want to do that because we understand the situation Philippine farmers are in... One of our goals with this project is to establish equitable water-sharing policies between the water utilities sector and irrigation sector.

Philippine Indigenous Arts

Sculpture/Carving – Sculpture is a visual and three-dimensional art form, this art form uses different types of materials such as wood, stone, glass, etc. to create different figures for a certain reason. The art of sculpture is done by combining or breaking down a certain material in order to create the desired form. Carving is a common way that a person sculpts a piece of material to it’s desired shape and design.

Weaving – Weaving is a functional art form wherein multiple threads go through a process of being harvested, dyed different colors, then they are measured and cut before being placed onto a mechanism called the loom. In the Filipino tradition of weaving the materials used are fibers that come from abaca, cotton, and bark cloth. This art form is done for both practical and traditional purposes, the art of weaving uses intricate designs with a variety of colors.

Pottery – The art of pottery is both a practical and spiritual art form, this art form goes through the process of collecting the clay which require different types of clay depending on the purpose or what region you’re in, then it goes through processing procedure to make the clay usable for the actual creation of the pottery. Pottery by tradition can be created for purposes such as food storage, collecting water, etc. It can also be used for spiritual purposes such as creating a jar to store ashes and help the deceased pass on.

Taka – The taka art form is all about its bright and enjoyable color designs and shapes. This art form is used by the people of Paete as either ornaments and aesthetic design around the house or toys for children. This art is the embodiment of creativity and evolution as its designs change throughout time and how much it still holds its traditional art form.

Pottery In The Philippines

History

-          The history of the tradition of pottery in the Philippines started long ago in the third millennium BCE. Pottery was an important part in the exchange industry of the Philippines with its neighboring countries. The tradition of pottery making in the Philippines generally started with collecting clay from the nearby river called the Sibalom River. The modelling and shaping of the clay traditionally needs the use of wooden paddles, and the clay should be shaded and kept away from sunlight to avoid cracking at its early stages.

-          Pottery in the Philippines that started long ago were also used to store the remains of their deceased loved ones, this was done to show as a sign of respect for the afterlife and to help their deceased loved ones pass onto their next life. In this tradition, the pots were designed with anthropomorphic shapes and patterns to show that it contained the human spirit and would also include a symbolism of passing on such as a boat with the people inside.

-          As time passed on, the tradition of Filipino pottery started having other uses, they started using the pottery for storing different goods such as food and water, the pots were also used for cooking rice. Depending on where you visit in the Philippines, the tradition of pottery varies in its design, size, and shape of the pottery. Based on tradition there are different forms to the pot namely Kalinga Pottery, Iron Age Pottery, Kalanay Pottery, Bau Pottery, Novaliches Pottery, and Bagupantao Pottery.

Art-Making

-          Pottery is functional and aesthetical art form, it can be used for design, storage, and spiritual purposes. The process of making pottery starts from collecting the type of clay needed for the tradition you are following and the purpose of the pottery. The clay then goes through the process of being powdered, mixed with water, then filtered until it is ready for use. The clay will then be pressed and rolled to eliminate any air bubbles so that the clay is smooth and consistent all around. Once the clay is ready, is put onto a wooden wheel and is spun for the person to start forming the shape needed, during this process the clay is soaked with water to make it easier to mold. Part of the clay is used as a base to make the actual part of the pottery easier to mold, and once the desired shape is acquired, the clay is then taken of the wheel to be covered and left to dry for 1-2 days. The clay is the trimmed by using tools or by hand, which afterwards the artist signs it and leaves it to fully dry. The piece of pottery is then bisque fired, glazed, and put through the final process of glaze firing. After this is all done, the pottery is then sanded/grinded to remove any rough texture so that it can have that smooth and clean texture.

Aesthetic

-          The aesthetic of traditional Philippine pottery is a combination of the fundamentals of aesthetic and the tradition of the pottery. The aesthetics of pottery is contained within the size and shape, patterns, and symbolism of the piece of pottery. Based on which tradition of pottery you’re following in the Philippines, they have different standards for the correct size and shape needed for the pottery, and also the traditional designs whether it be for its visuals or spiritual connection. An example of this is the manunggul jar, where the aesthetic of the jar is in the meaning it holds, it’s all about the spiritual connection and helping their loved ones move on. Other traditional forms of pottery can then focus the visual creativity and the patterns in order to catch the people’s attention. The aesthetics of pottery is not only in how you see it, but also in what it’s purpose is and the meaning behind its shape, size, design, etc.

Importance

Learning about pottery and the other traditional art forms is important in the current and future generations because that’s where it all started, without the traditional art forms, then the art of today would not exist or not reach this point. Art changes and develops over time, the traditional ways of indigenous art paved a way for the modern art of today. It’s important for us to learn about the traditional ways of art because we can learn the basis of our own art form and why things are a certain way. We need to learn the roots of art in order to understand the essence of art itself. People nowadays want to create their own style and do what they want with their art, but for me the best way to create your own style is to look at the past and learn from it, develop your own path from what is already there.
