I can only conclude that I was fortunate when I noticed an invitation in my email box to attend a workshop titled:
“WRITING BEYOND A HOBBY”
My heart was elevated into ecstasy since I have been looking for a way whereby I will be in a gathering of writers, authors and bloggers who are free enough to share their experiences and inspiration about a hobby that has been consuming the whole essence of my being in recent times.
When I checked my itinerary on the scheduled date which is 23rd of March 2019,all I could observed is my official duty even though it was a Saturday have to jettison it and find a way of making it to this workshop.
It was an expository workshop as the three guest speakers invited are people that are good in their chosen field of profession and their demeanor about what they are doing is quite encouraging with them radiating flashes of hope to some of us who are just starting in our journey to make a name out of writing.
The icing on the cake was that I realized that they are all into blogging and they could be concluded to be  successful authors and publishers.
The workshop was a gathering of youth around the city and the whole conference room of a particular hotel in Yaba was filled.
It was a very good time to meet new faces,a time to learn and unlearn as I was able to pick a something that I have been looking for recently.
Welcome address was delivered by the founder of Young and Cerebral,in person of Mrs.Adewumi Oshodi Takwa who expatiated the reason behind the idea of founding YOUNG AND CEREBRAL buttressing on the necessity to touch people’s live through creativity and inspirational thoughts.
Tumblr media
The three guest speakers who came to honour this event are:
1.Sally Keneth-Dadzie who lectured on the topic titled:
THE JOURNEY TO WRITING THE FIRST LINE
2.Ufuoma Emerhor-Ashogbon who lectured on the topic titled:
WHAT IT TAKES TO PUBLISH.
  3.Seun Odukoya who lectured on:
    WRITING AS A TRADE.
Also in attendance was MAGNUS OKEKE who is the Head of Customer Support Group of Okada Books.
Tumblr media
We were wowed by these three titans who has made a name in their world as a writer, author and a publisher with many followers across the length and breadth of the world appreciating their works.
It was not a waste of time as time were given to participants to ask practical questions that is necessary to aid speedy assimilation of each of the lectures.
Without any doubt,I was able to make good use of my time yesterday.
Vote of thanks was given by the founder of YOUNG AND CEREBRAL–in person of ADEWUMI OSHODI.

WRITING POETRY: 22 2S BREAKDOWN
WRITING POETRY: 22 2S BREAKDOWN
The poem, 22 2s was inspired by a song by one of the greatest rappers of all time; Jay-Z. In his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, there’s a song by the same title. In it, Jay Z does something similar, using alternate versions of the word ‘two’ twenty-two times. That is what inspired my verse. Where mine differs from his is the presentation. While his verse was about random facts, I tried to keep…

Saving Dapo XV
Yemisi was nervous; watching the door as she was. She did not want to call Dapo again; she had called him like fifty times in the past hour – and that wasn’t exactly bringing him any closer. She had to be patient. Her cocktail was beginning to warm; she put it down gently after taking a long pull from it and put it down – studying the hand she had carried it with. It was trembling. Hastily she…

I’m about to share some stuff that has been on my mind for a minute. Truth is, I’m usually on the forefront of the ‘Not All Men’ argument – however, I understand there’s a time and place for everything. And really?
Shouldn’t we have some sense by now?
When you read stuff like this, you see why shit like #MenAreScum are popular.
I mean, seriously. It’s 20-fucking-18 already. And people who think like this still exist? ‘What was she wearing’? Is that the facking point? ‘She should have gone with a guy’ So. Only women with male escorts should be safe?! Do you fucking hear yourselves?!
Really. This shit has to stop. We need to be better. We need to do better. Women deserve better from us. Saddest thing is, I’m sure you guys believe in the superiority of the male. And you expect a woman to submit – to your kind of thinking?
I’ll let you in on a secret; there are some ways women dress I don’t like; there are things females wear I am not comfortable with. However, I’m a law unto myself. After all, I am ‘Seun Odukoya’ not ‘Commissioner In Charge of Skirt/Blouse Length’.
Note the use of words. ‘Don’t like’ not ‘wrong’.
I have NO right to impose my likes/dislikes on ANYONE. And it sure as hell none of my business what someone decides to put on they body. I don’t like, I look away. It’s not illegal yet.
All this ‘What was she wearing’ shit has to stop. For fuck’s sake, that shit is so 1938. Grow the fuck up. Man the fuck up. Yeah I said it. Be responsible. Equality or no, people look up to us.
We’re fathers. Brothers. Sons. Sons-in-law. We have a responsibility. Again, I say we men have to be better. We have to do better. Women deserve better.
#ReceiveSense #ItsANewDay #ResponsibleMenAndWomenHere
#RecieveSense I'm about to share some stuff that has been on my mind for a minute. Truth is, I'm usually on the forefront of the 'Not All Men' argument - however, I understand there's a time and place for everything.

Tales From The Other Side or In Which Some Random Guy's Suicide Is Interrupted
Tales From The Other Side or In Which Some Random Guy’s Suicide Is Interrupted
Tumblr media
Seun, don’t go near the water!
Chill jare, old woman is the response that jumps into his mind – but who born monkey? So he would just mumble a subdued yes mum and sit miserably while the adults laughed and swam and danced.
He sits unmoving now, trembling; his grown behind stuck in six inches of wet sand. He can see lights of various ships; winking and signaling their way through the wet…

Saving Dapo - Thank You
Saving Dapo – Thank You
  There no words…
  No. Actually, that’s a lie.
There are words. Words that would; at least come really close to describing what I need to say to all you awesome guys.
I just cannot find them right now.
I have tried. Believe me, I have tried.
But you know what they say. “At all at all na im be ashawo”.
So I’m just going to say; from the bottom of EVERYTHING that is me.
    Also – have…
