a magic square depicted as some sort of '3D- distribution plot'

I played around with a simple magic square and the Lo-shu-technique - and I recognized a simple pattern:

- The average value of this magic square is at the center [5]

- The sum of each row and column and diagonal is 15 - 3 times the 'average' in this case.

There also appear 'symmetries' - see the violet writing: 4 [1 less than 5] and 6 [1 more than 5] - as well as the other colors: blue [ 3 [2 less than 5] and 7 [2more than 5]... etc...

somehow this rather unconventional and dreamy mind wandering led me to drawing this tiny 3D plot...

i’m gonna be negative for a second so fair warning

the STEM obsession is literally a plague on the current academic world, especially the recent “women in stem” shit. of course people who are typically discouraged from male-dominated fields should receive encouragement from schools, recruiters, etc, but i am really sick of this being turned into “STEM is the only valuable career path and you are betraying your intelligence as a woman/poc/whatever by doing literally anything else.”

there are SO many non stem jobs that are essential to the proper functioning of society and are definitely NOT worth any less than being a doctor or engineer. i’m tired of there being zero scholarships, internships, encouragement in general for literally any other career path. it’s just disrespectful and honestly dangerous. we can’t let humanities-focused subjects and careers die because STEM is the current hot topic. and i just hate most of all the appropriation of feminism to do it.

i'm pretty sure this can be seen as platonic as well bc like if my friends did the same i wouldn't think twice. so maybe im just anxious and super conscious since he's a boy and we havent talked in like 4 years .. i genuinely don't know if i'm just overassuming and being delulu AGAIN because i keep second guessing myself

Icosidodecahedron and truncated icosidodecahedron - with orange and green lines and red and green filters layered on top to filter out one of the solids

That is the drawing with both polyhedra included:

The orange lines depict the icosidodecahedron.

The green lines depict the truncated icosidodecahedron.

Putting a green translucent sheet of foil on top (green filter) filters out the green. The orange stays visible. Hence: With the green filter you mainly see the icosidodecahedron.

Putting a red filter instead filters out the orange and the green stays visible. Hence: With the red filter only the truncated icosidodecahedron is visible.

For drawing the icosidodecahedron I started with drawing a regular dodecahedron and "cut off" the vertices to half of each edge.

For drawing the truncated icosidodecahedron I started with an icosidodecahedron and cut off the vertices to one third of each edge.

being an art student can be so humiliating at times like yeah i have a painting due at 9am and we're all gonna sit in a room and stare really hard at everyone's work for 3 hours straight 😭
