Line cook Eddie part 3!

Hi friends! I was not expecting to write this so soon after part 2, but I'm rolling with it. Hope you enjoy it!! 💖 (the word counter I used says this is 666 words, thought that was cute) Flirty fluff, light sexual innuendo, cursing, sort of a bit of angst but not really. Eddie x fem!reader but feel free to switch the pronouns if you'd like ☺️ I had to include ABBA in this because I am a Mamma Mia! fan first and a human being second.

During a morning shift, a middle-aged man comes into the diner. He's a bit quiet but polite. He has his "please and thank yous" down pat. You check up on him during his meal and ask how everything is.

"Wonderful, my compliments to the chef." he says.

You smile and say, "He'll be so excited to hear that."

The older man looks up at you and says, "I would mention to him to cut back on the salt a bit. He has done a number on my blood pressure enough as it is." as he says that you feel an arm wrap around your shoulder.

"Hey pops. Was my girl good to you?"

You realize this must be Wayne, Eddie doesn't talk about him often but when he does it's with adoration.

"She was great. It's good to put a face to the name since you're always talkin' 'bout her."

Eddie laughs, a little too loud and you giggle at the pink on his cheeks.

One day during your break you step outside to get some fresh air. You can hear Eddie talking to someone near the dumpster.

"You like that, sweetheart? Look at you. You're just the cutest thing I've ever seen." Your heart aches, aren't you supposed to be the cutest thing he's ever seen? You know he's a big flirt with everyone, but you thought you were special. You quietly creep around the corner and when you finally see him you want to cry. He's squatted behind the dumpster feeding chicken to a scruffy little cat while rubbing its back. It's not even scraps from a customer's meal, this son of a bitch cooked a chicken breast for a kitten who, upon further inspection, reminds you of Wayne with its greyish fur and blue eyes.

He walks you to your car after your shift. He started doing it one night the two of you were working and hasn't stopped. Even when you're leaving before him, he walks you out and then goes back inside.

"I'm in a band, y'know?" He says, drying silverware. He's facing you and has his hip pressed against the counter.

"Oh yeah? An ABBA cover band?" You joke.

"How'd you guess? We do a cover of "Chiquitita" that'll knock your socks off."

You stop rinsing cutlery and look at him.

"I know you're kidding, but I love that song."

"Yeah?" He says, turning away from you. He's known it's your favorite for weeks. You were humming throughout your shift once and he spent the following day at the record store trying to figure out what song it was. He eventually went up to an employee and hummed it to them until they could help him find it. He bought the goddamn ABBA record.

You lightly flick him with water and he acts like you've just waterboarded him, stumbling around and gasping for breath. He reaches toward the faucet and flicks you back, he throws more water than you had and you gasp, "You're getting me wet!" His eyes get huge and he starts to giggle. When you realize why you giggle right along with him.

You come in for your dinner shift one day and notice a stack of papers at the register. You pick one up and see a sketch of a fire-breathing dragon. The dragon is guarding various food items like pancakes, milkshakes, burgers, and fries. All of the papers are copies of this drawing and next to the stack, there is an old box of crayons. You ask your coworker what this is, and she says Eddie brought them in this morning to give kids something to entertain themselves with while they wait for their food. You can't wait to hand them out and you save any colored in pages for the next time you have a shift together so you can show him what a hit they were.

I'll try to keep it short but hopefully give you enough to work with! I would say I'm fairly alternative - I currently have purple hair with a neon pink fringe (I've had pretty much every colour at this point, last colours were acid green and purple for Halloween, blue in the summer, etc), I have a few facial piercings and currently working on getting more tattoos. At the moment I have a finished half sleeve of anime/gaming/manga characters, a big thigh piece of one of my favourite anime characters and a few small random ones (faves are a cartoon skeleton with a party hat and a reference to My Chemical Romance because they're one of my all time favourite bands). As youve probably guessed I love all the stereotypical nerdy stuff, I'm huge in to RPGs (currently replaying cyberpunk 2077!!) and general story based things I can get lost in. I work as a mechanical engineer which is basically a fancy way of saying I do a lot of maths and problem solving. I LOVE going to concerts, music wise I listen to pretty much anything but at the moment I'm leaning more to heavier genres like nu metal (mainly stuff like Korn, Deftones, System of a Down, Sleep Token) as well as classic bands like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, etc. but I'm an absolute sucker for bands like Pierce The Veil, Fall Out Boy, All Time Low, Blink 182 and some classic trashy 2000/2010s bangers. I have a tendancy to ramble (clearly) but I'm usually quite shy and awkward around people until I'm more comfortable with them.

when it comes to eddie, it's just a bit obvious, isn't it? you literally described yourself as his dream partner. someone who shares his music taste, someone who is just as nerdy as he is. you're incredibly badass with your dyed hair and tattoos, and from the moment he met you, he was a little bit intimated. but then he talked to you, and he was just an absolute goner. because you weren't intimidating, you were bright and wonderful, you were sweet and kind and god - yeah, he was a goner after that first conversation, especially when you just laughed gently after he made an absolute fool of himself. he'd love to help you dye your hair, and if you ever asked him to help you decide on a color, he would take it very seriously. at some point, you might even convince him to dye a matching strand, who knows? he'd love to spend his days laying in bed with you, the two of you taking turns pointing out each other's tattoos and listening to all the stories behind them. he'd love to hear all of the lore behind your favorite games and animes, just watching your rambles with big eyes and a lopsided smile as his chest fills up with so, so, so much love for you. he'd always be in awe of the way he finds you so much smarter than him, not understanding a word of the math involved in your job but just happy to see the way you explain it all to him with such passion. he's your shoulder to lean on whether it be a good day or a bad day, he's your number one supporter through it all. if you ever flipped the script on him and started gushing about his creative talents, how it makes his mind just a wondrous as yours, he'd get extremely blushy and shy in a heartbeat. secretly, though, he loves it. he loves being in love with someone who appreciates him just as much as he appreciates them. and don't even get me started on the music - you'd expose him to bands like Pierce The Veil, Fall Out Boy, and of course My Chemical Romance, and he'd just be a fiend. he wouldn't hesitate to buy tickets to those shows with you. get tickets now, figure out how the hell the two of you would get there later. it's all a little different from what he usually listens to, and he'll still love his classics like Metallica, but he loves them because you love them. because every single one of those songs somehow lead him right back to you, the best part of his life.

6. When’s the last time you felt like you were floating?   UHH last night actually? i was on the verge of falling asleep, and i felt like i was falling a long distance, but really, really slowly... it was surreal? i sort of woke up after so it didn’t last long, but it was pretty weird

7. What do you enjoy daydreaming about most?   fic ideas mostly 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ when i have something to hyperfixate on, my brain rlly will just grab it and Not Let Go lmao.  i also like daydreaming about owning a house someday and doing rlly mundane things and just,, enjoying the peace and freedom and solitude of it all

14. Talk about one of your most cherished childhood memories.   uhhhhh. UHHH. im seriously blanking on this......... bro my memory recall sucks 😭😭 i just had to snap LJ to ask for help hjkdshgd ANYWAYS she suggested when we got our cat and like YES!!!!!!!!!!!! i’ll never forget coming home from my basketball game, seeing cat toys on my placemat at the table and being like !!!!! Oh Shit i think i Know whats Going On, and then my mom leading me downstairs, where the sibs and our dad were waiting with our new kitty!!!!!! i think LJ or our dad was trying to hold him for when i came down, but he jumped away at the last second ghdkshjdh accurate as hell tbh. anyways i love my baby and that was the BEST christmas ever, bar none <3

15. Talk about something exciting or good that happened to you this year.   I SAW DAVID BYRNE IN CONCERT!!!!!! AND THEN I WENT TO GERMANY  FOR TWO WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!! AND IT WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! (and On God sarah i am GOING to type out those stories for u even if it kills me hhfjdkghh) basically all of january FUCKING SLAPPED and i’m glad that no matter what happens this year, i was able to start the decade on the highest note possible ✌🏼

16. Where do you feel most at home?   when i’m somewhere familiar, and alone. when i know that no one will come and disturb me, but they’re there if i want to reach out.

And what are some hobbies you have?   i guess i collect copic markers 😅😅 i have all 5 ciao sets, plus the cool grayscale set and the pastels set. which is definitely excessive BUT i don’t care, i love having markers <3 i also collect elephant figurines!!!  i don’t have many, but i got one in germany, and my brother got me two small one for xmas, and i have a jade one from my grandmother, plus a couple more!!!! i just rlly love elephants <3 and as for hobbies: DRAWING!!! AND WRITING!!!!!! if i couldn’t do either of these things i’d probably die lmao, especially drawing.  it’s like.. the ONE single craft that i’ve actually put effort into and cultivated for years and years of my life. i love drawing so much and i wouldn’t give it up for anything

30. What do you do to feel at peace? good question!!! :’) this is actually something that’s kind of bothered me for a while... i’ll read or hear about people sitting and breathing to feel at peace, just chilling somewhere and experiencing the moment; or going on drives to different places, somewhere that just puts their mind at ease.  maybe writing, or baking, or any other idealistic, pretty-sounding thing that makes them feel at peace.  but no matter what i do, nothing ever really works for me?  it’s like my brain is Always rushing, always frantic in some way, and i can’t figure out how to make it shut up. idk!!!!!!!! that’s my answer.  but i hope i find something, someday? yeah
