Lyra's hands curl into fists, her eyes glued onto your face yet unfocused in her stare. Your mouth is moving, something being said but she can't hear you, can't hear what else you've said after the first sentence.
"Me and Henry are together now!"
Henry. You and Henry are together...fucking Henry. The same Henry who can't keep to himself, can't leave you (or Lyra) alone. The same Henry who constantly uproots everything Lyra has, wants, their brown eyes dark with contempt, her own mirroring the same disdain, the same hatred.
The same Henry who has taken you from her.
Lyra curls her fists tighter, nails cutting into her palms, a thin line of blood streaking across the skin. It stings, burns but she relishes in it, the pain grounding her, focusing her. Her smile is forced, strained yet she does it for you, for your sake.
