show me a transmasculine car. but a little flamboyant with it.
Well, I pretty much literally asked for this.
So.
To me, a transmasculine car must be a car that underwent some sort of process -of transformation- that resulted in an aesthetic difference between before and after, right?
And that is very much a thing in cars. I mean, you don't even need to know about cars to know people transform them in all sorts of ways, right? But what I intend to talk about specifically here is front-end swaps - people smacking completely different front ends onto their cars to make them look a way they deem preferable - or sometimes just to save money over the original parts. Such is the story of the Sileighty (or sil80), which is a Nissan 180SX onto which drifters that fucked the front end put Nissan Silvia parts instead because they were cheaper and lighter. Before and after:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, potentially this may already satisfy your request, but let's keep going anyway: From the opposite swap -putting a 180SX front on the Nissan Silvia- nicknamed Onevia, before and after...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...was born an idea: see, some people thought what the Silvia really needed weren't the headlights from the 180SX, but the ones from a decade younger Honda Odyssey minivan. I don't know why they thought that but it turns out the custom bodykit they created around the concept proved them right.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, since as you might have gathered before the Silvia and 180SX front ends are interchangeable, this custom bodykit also bolts right up to the 180SX. Let's see the before and after on that...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yeah, I feel like we're pretty close.
Although, for the sake of completion, I must add that Nissan also pulled this "different front end for different body styles" trick with the Skyline and its wagon version, the Stagea - and many Stagea owners felt the need to rectify that by installing the Skyline front end on their cars, resulting in the below before and after:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And now, on a completely unrelated note purely because it's pretty rare you get an excuse to bring this up, while some say the 90s Subaru Sambar Dias -also called... well, many other things, really- was the peak of personal transportation (it's me, I'm some), someone else at Subaru clearly thought it wasn't classic enough - hence the special Dias Classic edition (as featured in Love Hina!), which I'm sure was right up someone's alley.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm not that confident in my awareness of what I just went on about, so I would very much appreciate some feedback and, of course, reblogs to make the stupidest poll I've seen in quite some time get even bigger a sample size than it ever deserved.

You've done transmac cars, what about transfem?
I've indeed done transmasc cars, so sure, what's the point in pretending I'm better than that.
As explained in the post above, I feel like for a car to be trans it has to have undergone an aesthetic transformation of some sort - so this post will be about cars that changed face (before to the left, after to the right).
While some voted it most transmasc car of the post and it literally started off with a female name, I actually think the Onevia looks a bit more transfem to me (that's one sentence for the "how did my life end up here" folder).

But there's one more front end alteration with its own name these cars have under their belt.
Enter Mitsuoka, a small Japanese car manufacturer that mostly specializes in taking cars that just aren't weird enough and solving that problem. Indeed, they worked on that Silvia too, turning it into the Mitsuoka Le-Seyde - but I'd rather show you the newer version, based on the last Silvia generation, because I feel like the contrast it offers is genuinely unmatched.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yep.
And I know what you're thinking - where in the absolute pants did they get this idea? Oh, you're gonna love this one: from Zimmer, an American company founded in the 80s to do exactly that to the Mustang!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zimmer went bankrupt in '88.
And then was bought up by Art Zimmer (no prior relation) and did the exact same thing to the newer Mustang!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and to the Town car!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zimmer ceased production again in 2020. "Why?", I cannot fathom anyone wondering. Well, simple: they made the silly mistake of not being in Japan, where Mitsuoka is still thriving doing stuff like this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also, speaking of Mitsuoka, you really need to see what they ended up with when they put their hands on the Honda NSX platform (creating a concept that however would reach production as a fully unique car).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And if you thought this couldn't get any better, the two cars above are called, respectively, Galue and Orochi. Wow.
To finish, I would like to submit one I'm not sure can compete but I like too much not to mention: the Pit Crew nose kit for the first generation Mazda Miata!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't include the inspiration for the Dias Classic (which annoyingly seems to have a sweep going on for itself in the poll), the Subaru Vivio Bistro.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And as a treat for y'all, I found one modified in bosozoku style.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't believe this poll deserves a larger sample size, but you can reblog this post if like me you think it would at least be really funny.

Would you mind explaining what Onevia and Sileighty mean? Why they’re different? Where’d they come from?
Yup so in Japan the s13’s are badged as: Nissan Silvia Coupe and Nissan 180sx Liftback. The 180sx came with pop up headlights and the Silvia’s did not.
So Onevia is when the front of a silvia is converted with pop up lights from a 180sx. Merging there names together they were known as Onevia’s.
Converting the front of a 180sx to a silvia front is known as Sileighty, combining the names Silvia and One-Eighty (180)
Although in North America the coupes were sold with pop up headlights and were called 240sx so ya it can get confusing haha
