honestly I encourage everyone to get comfortable opening up their electronics. game consoles. computers. phones. keyboards. headphones. whatever. like obviously don't start with the most difficult thing to open up and don't just mindlessly pop open something and lose all the screws and don't do it while its on. but get comfortable looking inside your stuff yourself
its not hard to open up most electronics that don't have an apple logo on them (and even a lot of those are easier than you'd think) and it DOES NOT VOID YOUR WARRANTY.
Companies will try to scare you from learning how to care for your own stuff because they get money that way. Warranty stickers are technically illegal in the US but just isn't enforced, and a company can't actually void your warranty if you repair something yourself, so long as you don't break something else in the process.
like I look at threads all the time where people express fear about just opening up a console and looking at the internals to see which version they have but don't be! its easy, its safe, its free! get comfortable with your electronics and learn how to clean and repair stuff yourself, it isn't scary, companies just want you to think it is!
Have you met Mercury Stardust, the trans handy ma'am?
Her tiktok account is full of home maintenance tutorials, and positive messages. And she just wrote a book, which made the New York Times bestseller list.
It's getting rave reviews and I just ordered one for myself and another for a Christmas gift for my niece. It's designed for beginners and seems chock full of good stuff. It's even got tips on renter friendly home repairs. At $25, it could make a great gift.
Buy here or here or give Jeff bezos some more money here 😂
if you must use a protein mask/rice water for your hair i recommend using it in combination with a deep conditioner ESPECIALLY if your hair is prone 2 dryness or damaged from heat or coloring
To have a driver's license is always seen as a milestone or some weird social expectation, but I've always been so opposed to getting a car and have always relied on my e-bike to get around the city. A bike IS the solution to countering this hostile car culture.
Covered this a lil in my reblog of Res' post, but-
Iterators in Assembly AU can't do the fandom standard off the string thing, just not how they work, they gotta make lil extra versions of their own mind and slap em in mobile bodies instead. Most iterators find the resulting quasi-plurality kind of uncomfortable, and merge their minds together whenever possible to avoid having multiple separate minds active in the same area. However! Some, like Sig, are actually more comfortable that way, and embrace it as a new part of their identity and self expression.
My Sigs have more selflings than any other iterator, mostly because they were one of the first to have access to the tech and just didn't stop making them. There are many many more than just 10, depending on where you look in the timeline. They also play with their bodily configuration much more than most iterators, making a wide variety of varyingly biological or mechanical bodies to house their selflings in, and enjoying the subtle differences in their personal expression, selfhood, and identity they experience depending on what body they're in. They're just funky little guys 🙏
The heat is finally off (my landlord controls the baseboard heater temp. in my building) and waking up in a chilly apartment has given me a factory reset
