this conversation physically PAINS me, especially when you think about one particular early journal entry written by hayth in forsaken: "the love i felt for father constantly threatened to engulf me with its sheer magnitude; i didn't just love him, i idolised him."

CAUTION⚠: Possible spoilers for Forsaken, the King's Tyranny DLC for AC III, and Black Flag.
I think this is kinda obvious but I believe that if he was given the chance, Haytham would've been an amazing father. I mean look at Edward- despite the fact he didn't let Jennifer become an Assassin he was still a pretty decent father. And it's very obvious in Forsaken that Haytham still loved Edward and respected him enough to not lie to Connor in his journal.
Like I can honestly visualize him being a really sweet husband and father, just a big ole softie for his lil family. Cause deep down we all know Haytham is a family man. He saved Jennifer despite her being his half sister and them hating each other/having no relationship for a majority of their lives. I'm so sad we were denied happy family Haytham. Even in the King's Tyranny DLC for AC III Haytham was dead, but Ziio was alive. Which yay for her being alive but I really want to see what Haytham would be like as a happy family man. I feel like he deserves that.
This also made me realize that not one main character in AC has both of their parents, or any at all for that matter. I wonder what an Assassin that grew up in an actually stable household would be like? 🤔 ( And I mean parents we can actually see on screen and interact with somehow)

Reginald often has nightmares about Terrence's dethrone
not because of Terrence, but because he had to sacrifice someone he was close to. Though he couldn't remember who that person is..

further hot takes: I think Tessa Kenway was threatened into giving up her son to Birch and told that if she didn't, her stepdaughter would die or possibly even that both her children would die. I simply don't believe that the woman that Edward Kenway described as being incredibly spirited and strong would just throw away her ten year old child for the supposed crime of saving her life during an attack. I think she did what she had to so that her children would live, however damaged, and that Birch laid the suggestion in Haytham's mind that she was giving him up over what happened that night.
Consider: Birch's language ahead of Haytham's meeting with Tessa is suspect as fuck.
"On the night of the attack, Tessa saw her husband die and her little boy kill a man. These things will have had a profound effect on her."
Note. Not "have had a profound effect." He's not speaking out of experience having talked to her and found her grief-stricken and horrified at her youngest child's actions. This is entirely speculative - except that it's not, because he's told her what to say, and how to act, and now he's planted the suggestion in Haytham's head that his own actions have something to do with his mother's grief. In conclusion, fuck Reginald Birch and Tessa Kenway did not abandon her kids.

Imagine being a vampire with Haytham or Shay. No I don't mean the cold, collected, refined vampire. I mean the kind of vampire that acts like a giant cat.
Like... you're snuggling and you start giving love bites because you have the extra happy energy and you're stimming. You know like how cats give love bites when you're petting them? It's just that. Or they're busy working late and you sit on the floor next to them and plop your head in their lap for snuggles.
It's adorable until there's one of the Templars you don't like. Such as Reginald Birch or Charles Lee. You see them and you leave. Or they tried to have a conversation with you and you threw something at them. Even better if you don't know them cause that's when your SO realizes that you have a much better sense of people than they do, even if you can't articulate why you don't like them very well.
Sorry for the delay!
I think this is quite a cute take on vampires. I enjoy the cold, collected and sophisticated type a lot more but imagine just nibbling on their arms affectionately or their fingers hooking on your little fangs, poking them.
After your behaviour towards Charles and Reginald, Haytham and Shay become very suspicious towards them, keeping a close and watchful eye of them. They appreciate your ability to discern when something feels off in a person and they rely on it more often.

i need an entire novel of birch and braddock, two heterosexual homophobes, co-parenting the ten year old they murder-kidnapped. like they have to take him to the park and collect his lost teeth. they have to deal with puberty. it's not a phase reginald i'm changing my name to ravynne and wearing only black for the rest of my life. i can talk to wolves and you can't prove it's not true because i have magic powers and you don't. and braddock is like i want him dead.

I love your stories about haytham on AOC3. Perhaps, if you have time, you would write about Haytham's childhood sweetheart (Reginald Birch's daughter). The two unexpectedly see each other again in Boston?
Aww thank you so much Anon! 🥺💞🥹🤩
A/N - Oooh 😯 the drama that could come from that one!

Let’s just say this takes place after Haytham was with Ziio so he’s fresh in heartbreak, recruited Shay, and by himself, etc.
So Angsty Boi™️
The nightmares about Edward, Jenny, and his mother from that fateful day still replay in his mind constantly.
He saw you in Boston, and a small babe clung to your skirt(s), and he swears his blood has gone cold. You are still as young and lovely as he always remembered you, but he freezes with only the slightest energy to escape before his heart bursts out of his chest.
You saw him briefly but thought it a trick on your eyes. The memories of a young man who’s blue eyes used to glisten with admiration come back to you.
When you learned of your father’s treachery and the ripple effects of his actions, you severed ties and left to pursue a life of your own
Haytham’s feelings of pain and love towards you left a bitter feeling within you. You cared and loved for each other, but the past just crept up
Fate was not yet done toying with the Templar leader, as you both cross each other again in a nearby tavern that same day.
He sees you first again and it pains him so that out of the corner of your eye, you see him clutch tightly to his chest.
You know it’s not a trick this time as you know those eyes from anywhere. If things could change, you would have left earlier with him and never looked back.
“Is it really—is it really you?”
You hear a soft gasp as you reach out with your left hand to touch his own. There’s a pale outline on your finger of where a ring should be, or rather used to be.
“It’s me, Haytham. I…I left it all. I don’t belong in that world anymore.”
He hugs you, he wants to hold you longer, he’s afraid you’ll be gone again, but he’s afraid to let you see him like this.
