Paper boy : (throwing newspaper) Extra, extra! Legendary mangaka of Dragon Ball has officially been deceased!

Naruto : What's this all About? (Looks at the newspaper and then puts it down) ...My god!

[BELL TOLLS]

Hiromu Arakawa : Akira Toriyama was a great Mangaka and a great story teller, and he was never the same again. Without him or before Daima being released. Let's all give him a farewell to our man that made Dragon Ball in history.

Naruto : I can't believe every mangaka in the industry is dead, no sand land before Daima, no sequel, and More importantly, No Dragon Quest!

Edrick : I can't believe the guy who designed us is dead.

Eight : What did you expect? We're only the toriyama characters to be ever joining a crossover fighting game by Nintendo! We have our rights to deserve that title.

Whis : He was good man, and we had a good run.

Beerus : Yep.

Vegeta (in Kid form) : Do you think that we'll ever get back to our current size?

Goku (in kid form) : No thanks. I've always been like this since GT.

Hiromu Arakawa : And now we all pay due to respect that we give a farewell gift to Ohku, I mean Toriyama, the man made Dragon Ball the greatest manga in history.

(bagpipes starts playing)

Goku (in kid form) : This sucks! Now we're gonna be Kids forever!

Vegeta (in kid form) : This will forever take off this stupid curse once we get back to into adults, we are going to make Goten and Trunks getting ready for school.

Bulma (in kid form) : So what? This is what I get for being the greatest character of all. If Emperor pilaf would've turned you all into kids, we wouldn't been shrunken by this de-aged form in the first place. Age regression is nothing but the butt of the joke.

Shinra (Devil Chaos Chao) : So when did the last time I die?

Arthur (as Saber) : I don't know. Probably the 1000 years of death.

Iris : Oh, well. Who cares? As long we don't have the opportunity to be abandoned or forgotten us in the mangaka industry for all the century since I came back from that church in Providence, Rhode Island. What's the worst thing could ever happen to Dragon Ball? (Tamaki accidentally falls down into a hall)

Tamaki : Hey! Guys! I'm okay! I just accidentally fell down into this hole and--*CRACKING* OH GOD, NOOOOOO-(gets crushed by a Tombstone)

Shinra : Oh my God! They killed Tamaki!

Arthur : You bastards.

Maki : Well, I guess the mangaka career of Toriyama is--(scene cuts)

Goku (in Kid form) : History! Didn't you hear? Akira Toriyama is history! Same goes to Kentaro Miura! As a matter of fact, I think we should see other people. (Closes door)

Maki : Well, that's the last time the author dies and never finishes anything in the industry.

seriously, I've never read Berserk in my life and I initially intended not to make this fanart (even because of the extreme graphic violence in the manga that scares me) but I admire the gradual evolution of Guts and the extent to which he matures in the story. he is one of the best written and most complex characters to work with. you might not initially like him for his savagery, but when reading the manga from the character's perspective. you will get goosebumps.

And into a future unknown...

So I read the final chapter of Berserk and -

I'm content. Or I should say, I'm okay. Still crying, but I'm okay. It will always hurt that Miura is gone and so many possibilities will remain unknown and unachieved, but I'm at least satisfied that events unfolded in such a way that his story ended at a time and space where there is still hope and happiness: for Guts, Casca, the Moonlight boy; the fact that they have a family. Sure, I didn't *want* the last scene to be of Griffith, but damn if it didn't tug at my heart-strings. I'm happy that despite all of heartache, bloodshed, horror, injustice, and cynicism we experience in this saga, the story ended with optimism and a hopeful future.

And going from there, there's no telling what lay in store for Berserk's future. As I predicted, even Miura's team isn't sure (judging by the end note), and this is just the end of original Berserk, Miura's beloved life work. It's soul will still live on in whatever continuation/adaptation might come in the future and all of the people who were inspired by it to create their own stories.

That's what I hope for.
