Ok wtf... not only is Flo dead but Massak from the UKWCT too? Damn I really loved that big boy. The arctics were always my favorites when I went tbh. Pukak was #1 for me, gonna be real sad when he goes. Gonna read up on the circumstances soon but for now I'll share some pictures of Massak I still have saved.
These pictures are old, took them all the way back in 2018 before the UKWCT closed.

Clochette découvre l'arrière pays néo zélandais et son manque de réseau ! C'est beau, c'est vert, c'est vallonné, et ... Absolument sans 4g.
Sinon, on a mieux commencé cette journée que la précédente : pas de gadoue où s'embourber, pas de pantalon ruiné, et un soleil radieux pour nous accueillir, ça fait plaisir !
On est parties faire la balade des Wilkies Pools dans la forêt des gobelins sur le mont Taranaki, ça fait très fées, dragons et korrigans...
On n'a pas rencontré de bestioles fantastiques étranges, juste un prêtre indien au rire communicatif :") Les petits trous d'eau étaient tout choupis, et on voyait sacrément bien comment l'eau avait creusé la roche, ça créait un genre de toboggan tout lisse où j'aurais bien posé les fesses si l'eau avait été à plus de 10° ! (Bon, et si j'avais pu y rentrer plus d'une demi cuisse, mais ne chipotons pas sur les détails, ils avaient l'air tout doux ces toboggans ❤️)
Après être reparties par une boucle nettement moins gentille avec les fauteuils roulants, retour à la voiture sous le soleil (et un vent glacial). La lumière dans la forêt était assez magique !
Cette balade fort sympathique terminée, on avait prévu de faire le tour du Mont pour se promener de l'autre côté. Au vu de la quantité de nuages noirs amoncelés là haut, et du paysage en train de passer du vert au gris, on a plutôt choisi de s'éloigner de la tempête et de rejoindre le lac Rotokare, une réserve naturelle protégée par une immense clôture qui donne un peu l'impression de rentrer dans Jurassic Park !
La grande clôture est faite pour empêcher les prédateurs extérieurs de rentrer : elle est partiellement enterrée pour éviter les fouisseurs, possède une partie en surplomb pour ceux qui grimpent, et il y a même un système d'alarme pour signaler une brèche si un arbre tombe dessus pendant une tempête par exemple ! Le plus drôle a dû être de s'assurer qu'il n'y avait plus de prédateurs dedans au moment où ils ont fermé l'enceinte...
Mais du coup, c'est un petit paradis pour les oiseaux, et ils ne sont pas farouches ! Il est pas beau notre Pukake ? (Ils ont les fesses toute blanches, c'est très marrant quand ils relèvent un peu les ailes) Ils font très poule d'eau bleu géante, on les voit souvent en bord de routes
Après un joli pique nique et une petite balade, on est reparties sous un temps qui commençait à sérieusement se mitiger ... On a bien fait de venir ici et de fuir la montagne ! On a eu tout juste le temps de découvrir comment fonctionne cette petite merveille mise en place gratuitement par une commune (vive la Nouvelle Zélande, pays du road trip) avant de se prendre les premières gouttes. C'est une station de vidange/remplissage de nos réserves d'eau. Eh bien franchement, pour une première fois, on n'a fait aucune catastrophe, aucun tuyau ne nous a explosé au visage, c'était magnifique. *Fières*
Et on a repris la route sur la forgotten Highway (qui porte bien son nom, on a dû croiser 5 maisons en 120 bornes) vers le Tongariro, où on devrait arriver demain (enfin, aujourd'hui, puisque j'écris le post avec une journée de retard hehe), et on s'est arrêtées vers 16h quand la pluie nous a violemment rattrapées... On a donc passé la fin d'après midi vautrées sur le lit du bas à boire du cidre en regardant une série au scénario présentant plus d'incohérences que ma copie de philo du bac, c'est la vie ! Plein de bizoux 😘

Father: Pukak, a former SnowWing servant.
Backstory: Shiver’s story started when a high class IceWing noble began an affair with one of her servants, a SnowWing named Pukak. The affair carried on mostly unnoticed besides the occasional odd rumor. However after the noble was suddenly with egg the relationship was immediately terminated and Pukak was sent away sometime later to a village on the outskirts of the kingdom. A village so small that it has never been given a name.
The perfect place for such a shameful act to remain hidden and to eventually die.
A year later Shiver hatched. Now Shiver… Shiver was always very aware of the difference between him and his peers. For one his claws were far more suited to walk across bare ice, his horns curved up into a point instead of downwards, and his scales were always a paler color than anyone else's. And as he grew older he began to realize that his physical attributes weren’t the only things that separated him from everyone else.
Monthly he and his father would receive packages. Food, fine silks, occasionally even jewels. One day he finally asked his father about it and Pukak came clean about his parentage. About the mother who chose her station over her unhatched egg and lover. The mother who had shipped them off to the furthest reaches of the kingdom. Where one goes to be forgotten, a place so small it was never even given a name.
This, of course, upset Shiver who began to give the gifts away to the other young dragonets in the village hoping to get rid of the charity his mother was so kind to grace him with. But no matter how many jewels or fine silks he gave away the gifts still came monthly. Eventually, Shiver gave up on getting rid of them and instead locked them away in a chest in his room. So that he wouldn’t have to look at them anymore.
And then one day his chance came. A chance to prove himself, to prove that he was worth so much more than some shipped off nobles bastard child. So with a teary goodbye to his father, he left to volunteer for the Chosen.
A choice that he may soon come to regret.
Appearance: Shiver is mostly a pale blue almost white color with blue accents down the top of his head to his spine. Shiver has pale blue wings and darker frill running down his head and back to the tip of his tail.
From his pure IceWing mother he inherited his horns that curve upward instead of down like the typical SnowWing as well as serrated claws.
Personality: Shiver is a very shy and caring individual if a bit proud. At times he can be particularly sarcastic, especially when surrounded by foolish individuals.
Quirks: Shiver has a tendency of picking at his serrated claws. This is a habit he picked up after he was told of his parentage. At first, he picked at them in an effort to rid himself of any reminders of his mother, now it is simply a nervous habit he does whenever he is uncomfortable or in deep thought.

This is the official reference sheet for him. Which includes a full body lineless rendition of him, a detailed bust and his tearful good bye with his dad.
I am particularly proud of how that part turned out since it was a chance for me to experiment around with different poses.
Shiver is only a few days old but boy am I attached to him.

Una invitación ha sido entregada a nuestros sensates con un viaje pagado de una semana para pasarlo descubriendo la maravillosa tierra de Nueva Zelanda... Y quizás por sus mentes lo primero que pase es desecharlo, sin embargo una llamada les informa de un contratiempo inesperado. Una invitación ha llegado el día antes a la puerta de uno de sus familiares, amigos o personas importantes y cercanas... Y han aceptado la invitación. ¿ Los dejarás acudir a su suerte creyendo de buena fe que se trata de un viaje sin peligro alguno o la desconfianza hará mella en ti y preferirás también acudir para asegurar que no hay ninguna amenaza a la vista ?
Si finalmente te decantas por esta última opción, no te arrepentirás en absoluto. Nueva Zelanda es un paraíso de paisajes naturales y así lo demuestra su famoso Monte Cook, te aconsejamos que para visitarlo tomes el sendero que rodea el lago Pukaki para así también disfrutar de su limpio azul dónde verte reflejado o hasta darte un pequeño baño antes de seguir con la ruta. Ésta te llevará también al Glaciar Tasman, una visita que no puedes perderte.
Si eres amante de la edad media, no puedes perderte la aldea de Hobbiton dónde no solo podrás recrearte en fotografías sino también incluso reservar una comida copiosa en una de las carpas del lugar, simulando uno de los festejos más famosos de los Hobbits. Si sumamos más paisajes espectaculares también no podemos dejar de recomendarte que acudas a Cathedral Cove, un escondite especial dónde perderte, o por supuesto el valle volcánico Waimangu. Si te fascina más la extraordinaria fauna animal, no puedes perderte acudir a la cueva Waitomo dónde podrás dar un paseo en barca a la luz producida por unas larvas autóctonas del lugar que proyectan esta increíble iluminación durante su crecimiento.
