Evening Devotion for June 18th
I will hear what God the Lord will speak.
- Psalms 85:8
In general a Christian wishes to know the Divine pleasure concerning him. Hence the prayer of Saul of Tarsus when he was converted, “Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?” and the resolution of the Psalmist here is to the same intent, “I will hear what God the Lord will speak,” in his providence, in his word, concerning me. How do I appear in his eyes? “It is a light thing to be judged of man’s judgment; he that judgeth me is the Lord.” What does he think of me? What does he say concerning me? As Job says, “I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would say unto me.” Not only in reference to the path of providence and duty, but also in answer to prayer.
A good man will not be satisfied with the mere performance of the duty, but will look after the result of it. He is unwilling to depart without a reply, and is anxious to know whether the answer will be repulsive or favourable. How little importance do many attach to prayer, and how regardless they are of God’s answer to it! What should we think of a husbandman who, after having sown the seed, would never walk forth to look after it; to see “first the blade; then the ear; then the full corn in the ear;” should we not deem this indifference culpable? Or what should we think of a person who, if he knocked at our door, would not wait or even look back to see if the door were opened? Should we not consider this a mere insult? And is it not thus with regard to many of our prayers? Do we not in effect mock God when we call his attention to our wants and miseries, when at the same time we do not regard his voice or his influences?
Moses said, “The Lord heard me at that time also;” and it shows us how he remarked, in looking back upon his history, places and seasons where God heard his supplication. And if we also observe these things, we shall not fail to discover that this is the way to have our gratitude excited and our confidence strengthened. Let us, therefore, ascertain how God has answered us in such and such instances, and what he is now saying in answer to our requests; and then we shall also say with the Psalmist, “I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications; because he hath inclined his ear unto me: therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.”

Second Reading
2 Peter 3:8–14
We await new heavens and a new earth.
Do not ignore this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like one day. The Lord does not delay his promise, as some regard “delay,” but he is patient with you, not wishing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a mighty roar and the elements will be dissolved by fire, and the earth and everything done on it will be found out.
Since everything is to be dissolved in this way, what sort of persons ought you to be, conducting yourselves in holiness and devotion, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved in flames and the elements melted by fire. But according to his promise we await new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, since you await these things, be eager to be found without spot or blemish before him, at peace.

John the Baptist appeared in the desert proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. People of the whole Judean countryside and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem were going out to him and were being baptized by him in the Jordan River as they acknowledged their sins. John was clothed in camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist. He fed on locusts and wild honey. And this is what he proclaimed: “One mightier than I is coming after me. I am not worthy to stoop and loosen the thongs of his sandals. I have baptized you with water; he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

David expressed keen sorrow for the unholiness in his life: "O spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go hence, and be no more" (Psalm 39:13). He did not want to die until holiness ruled his heart again. Ungodliness is a poison which drinks up all serenity of conscience and inward springs of joy. If you throw a stone into a clear brook it will soon become muddy. "He will speak peace unto his people, but let them not turn again to folly" (Psalm 85:8).
Carelessness in the walk of holiness dangerously exposes your faith, which is kept in good conscience as a jewel is protected in a cabinet. Faith is any eye, and sin casts a hazy mist before it. To faith, a holy life is like pure air to the eye; we can see farther on a clear day. Thus faith sees further into God's promise when it looks through a holy well-ordered life.
Faith is a shield. Will a soldier drop his protection unless he has been seriously wounded? If faith fails, what will happen to hope, which cleaves to faith a draws strength from her as a nursing child takes nourishment from its mother? If faith cannot see pardon in the promise, then hope cannot look for salvation. If faith cannot claim sonship, hope will not wait for the inheritance. Faith informs the soul it has "peace with God" and then the soul rejoices "in the hope of the glory of God" (Romans 5:1-2).
Are you trying to use the sword of the Spirit? How can you hold it when unholiness has seriously maimed the hand of faith that must carry it? This sword has two edges–one side heals but the other wounds. With one it saves and with the other it damns. The Bible does not speak a single kind word to the person who practices sin. Now–think and then think some more–is any sin worth all this confusion which will inevitably strangle and smother your soul?

4 Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.
5 Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?
6 Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?

Scouring our history, they discovered the use of divinium tattoos by sistErs in the time of Wn. Marthe to evade possession by wraith demons (Codex CdA 1798 for reference). This method has been tested using both organic divinium sources and divinium from the armor of AdrieL, and it is effective indeed. This conclusion also requires you to learn of other information I have kept from you—my sincerest apologIes for the deceit, but you will find it justified. LaSt year, we recovered the skeleton of a Tarask—yes, that Tarask—from the site of an outbreak in CoLorado. Dear Mother Superion,
Suzanne, I hope you are well. I can only imagine how difficult it is to settle into your new responsibilities after the events of last few months. I sympathize with your grief, as I share in my own with the passing of Mother Superion. She was my third Superion, and the most personable I have served. We met many times during her life and wrote to each other several times a year. I want to reassure you that my line is always open—while I cannot speak over the phone, let my voice in writing bring you some comfort should you allow or ask for my guidance or friendship, personally, or if you seek information from the Codex.
Father Isaac has written to Father Vincent of our discoveries. The use of divinium tattoos will be effective in our fight, I believe. May this bring you some security and personal reassurance that you no longer need to feel responsible for putting your sisters in danger—at least that they will be at less risk on field missions. I am confident in the training that you provide them; without the danger of possession, they can rely on your ample guidance to find and defeat Satan in all his hiding places.
I must also inform you that information has been omitted from Isaac’s report, for a reason I cannot determine. When our chapter recovered the Tarask’s skeleton, the Novice discovered that a ring of bone in the eye socket of the demon provides one with the ability to see wraith demons and reveals the presence of Divinium without proximity to the Halo. We have named the ring “Sclera” due to its anatomical position in the Tarask. If you would like to read the reports of our exorcisms using this tool, I would be more than willing to send them to the Cat’s Cradle. If you would like us to send the Sclera itself for examination, I am sure it can be arranged, although Father Isaac was opposed to this idea.
Father Isaac has opened a request thread to all other chapters to send any possible extant uncatalogued records in regard to the death of the Angel Adriel, early OCS history, Areala, and Warrior Nun Cora. As you are aware, the Codex does not contain any of Cora’s records, and it is my belief these records were possibly destroyed by her adversaries. Did this request come from Cat’s Cradle? I can’t find any records of recent correspondence that might require this information. Jesus Brings Us Out of Darkness
John 1:9 This was the true light that enlightens every person by his coming into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through him. Yet the world did not recognize him.
11 He came to his own creation, yet his own people did not receive him. 12 However, to all who received him, those believing in his name, he gave authority to become God’s children, 13 who were born, not merely in a genetic sense, nor from lust, nor from man’s desire, but from the will of God.
14 The Word became flesh and lived among us. We gazed on his glory, the kind of glory that belongs to the Father’s unique Son, who is full of grace and truth. 15 John told the truth about him when he cried out, “This is the person about whom I said, ‘The one who comes after me ranks higher than me, because he existed before me.’”

Josh 13:1-14:15, Luke 18:1-17, Psalm 85:1-13, Proverbs 13:7-8
Today is the 16th day of April, welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I am Brian, it is wonderful to be here with you today, as we greet a brand-new, shiny week that is out here in front of us friends. Here we are sitting around the Global Campfire, looking out over this brand-new week and it, it's all clean and pretty. It's all out there, nothing, nothing has really happened yet, we haven't lived it yet. We will tell the story of this week, by writing it with our lives, with our thoughts and our words and our deeds. So, we are doing well to center ourselves in the Scriptures and take the next step forward into this week together. And our next step will lead us back into the Book of Joshua. We’ve seen twice now that a bunch of kings allied themselves together to attack Israel, only to be defeated. This is how most of the conquest of the Promised Land happened. Armies gathered together to eradicate Israel and then were unsuccessful, Israel, thereby taking over the land. And so, we will read from the New International Version this week and pick up the story where we left off, Joshua chapters 13 and 14 today.
Prayer:
Father, we thank You for Your word and we thank You for this brand-new week. And like we were thinking about at the very beginning, it's out in front of us. And we need You. We sit here out in front of this week and look into it and yeah, it’s shiny and sparkly, but we can make a mess of things. We have done plenty in our lives to make a mess of our days and weeks and so, we know what that looks and feels like. And yet, at the beginning of a new week, each week, here we can reflect upon what is out in front of us and choose to follow You, choose to slow down and consider where You are leading. And so, Holy Spirit, come and lead us on our steps, lead us in our interactions with others. Help us to remember that we are to love one another as we love ourselves. Help us to have that posture toward each other. This posture of humility that we were talking about this past week in the Gospels of humbly doing our service. Help us in the choices that come our way this week. Some of them may be really big and consequential, and some of them may be small that lead to big things and we don't always know, we need Your leadership. Help us in our communication, may we soften our hearts, so that our language may be softer and kinder, not just for the sake of aa humble posture, but so that we may bring life through our words and not death. Come, Holy Spirit, we pray, in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Good afternoon, DAB Family. This is Justify Now in North Carolina. It’s April 7th, Good Friday. Just wanted to call in and say that I’m so grateful and appreciative for what Jesus did for us so many years ago. He sacrificed His life for you and me and He paid that price for our sins and I’m so grateful. And I’m so glad to be saved. Just wanna thank Brian for that wonderful commentary today about this hurricane of worry that we live in. It resounded with me so much. You hit so many points that was so spot on, Brian. Hi, my name’s Andrea. I’ve been listening for a couple years, and I called in once before. I’m not sure if it got posted but I really need prayers for my son Jayden. He is 19 years old. He’ll be 20 in October. He’s away at college and he’s on his second round of Accutane. This isn’t a mild case of acne; it came out of nowhere the first time. We thought we had it under control. He went away to college and his face exploded. He came home around Christmas time and was put back on Accutane. His severe scaring from the first round and now his face is so blown up he can barely eat on either side of his mouth. They put him on a steroid to try to calm it down, they’ve lowered the dose, now they’re lowering it again. It’s just so bad that it’s causing him issues in his own life. I don’t even know if I could go outside the way he looks, it’s heartbreaking. He’s one of the kindest people I know and has a heart for God and prays. And my heart is breaking for him. No one should suffer like this, and I don’t know what’s causing it. They don’t know why it won’t stop. Just pray for my son. As a mother, it’s hard to watch your son struggle, being so far away, having to blood work and getting bloody noses and it’s just painful. Very painful to watch. Something is causing this, and they don’t know what to do. High doses of the stuff is dangerous for your body, long term. And the scaring is horrible. So, please I’m just asking that you would all pray for my son, Jayden, and lift him up. That God would heal whatever is causing this condition to happen in his body. I appreciate it very much. Hi, everyone, this is Janean from Washington. I hope you all had a nice Easter. And this morning I wanted to lift up Garret in prayer. I was very touched by his call this morning. And so, Father, we just lift up Garret to You. Thank You for his life. I thank You for his desire to serve You. And I just thank You for his honesty in sharing his struggles with depression and alcoholism. And today, Lord, I just ask that You would pour out Your mercy and Your grace and Your love upon him. I pray that he would know how much You care about him, Father. And for all of us, You’ve removed our sins, as far as the East is from the West. And I thank You for that, Lord. And just assure him of that love and forgiveness that You have. And, and moving forward, Father, I just pray for just great strength for him as he faces different issues in life, as we all do, Father. Would You just give him the grace and strength to reach out to You and when the enemy tries to tempt him to turn to alcohol, Lord, just may he just run to You and to Your word, to other Christians who can support him. And so, Father, I just ask for Your grace and mercy once again, to be upon him today. And just strengthen him and encourage him. Thank You for his desire to walk worthy of the calling You’ve given him. I pray that You’d help him to do that, Lord, by Your strength and Your power. Hello, Daily Audio Bible Family, this is Diana, His Dearly Beloved in Washington State, formerly from Minnesota. I just heard from Justin, which made my heart so happy. Justin, formerly of Southern California, now of Memphis. I’ve been praying for you for years, dear brother. And many others, that I keep waiting to hear from again. So, my heart was so blessed in hearing from you. I’m very sorry for the challenges that you’ve been having and, but you know, as you said, if you’re looking for truth, you’ve definitely come to the right place. So, I will continue praying for you. Super excited that you called in. And I would also like to ask for prayer for an upcoming surgery for me. I had a surgery last week. I had pancreatitis and had four stones removed from my common bowel duct, because I no longer have a gull bladder, that was removed in 2001. And now have a surgery for an abdominal hernia. I’ve had multiple surgeries over the last two years and, and I had a nine-pound baby in my past and I’m over 60. So, I’m now kind of struggling with some structural weakness of my abdomen. So, I’m gonna have an elective surgery to help put in a mesh binder to hopefully fix that. So, anyway, just wanted to, I was so happy to hear from Justin. I love you all. Okay DABers, this is Eyes of a Dove. I had to wait all day to call you guys. I’ve been fairly emotional, numb, kind of shell shocked actually. All be 47 years old this July. So, I guess I’m not a young one, right. However, I know that the Lord has designed me for eternity, and I don’t believe it’s my time to leave this earth, anytime soon. A couple days ago, I went in for my yearly mammogram. And this morning, Monday morning, I received a message that they have found a 1.3-centimeter mass in my right chest, with blurry edges, I guess, or uneven edges. It’s oval in shape. And it’s about half the size of a pea. I don’t know how to feel. It’s 30 days before my wedding and the enemy is just doesn’t want, doesn’t want this marriage to happen. Oh man, we’ve just had it. It’s just been overwhelming friends. Every single day there’s been something. Nearly semi-breaking down, trying to find a car for Braden, every car breaking down. The car we bought; they scammed us. And we’re trying to make the best of a situation, take it day-by-day. But this one just bulldozed me. I still have my young ones. It’s not time. And I know that that’s a small tumor, right. And I don’t receive that it’s anything but benign, in Jesus name. But yeah, I’m afraid. They can’t get me in until the end of April. And they would be one and half to two-hour extensive imaging appointment. But at the end, the doctor will give me results as to where I’m at. And I’m praying that I can get in sooner and I’m praying that it will be benign. And I pray for healing. Will you join me?

David mourns Absalom.
Absalom happened to run into some of David’s followers. Absalom was riding a mule and the mule passed under the thick branches of a great oak. Absalom’s head caught fast in the oak and he was left hanging between heaven and earth, while the mule he was riding went on. Someone saw this and told Joab. ‘I have just seen Absalom’ he said ‘hanging from an oak.’ Joab took three lances in his hand and thrust them into Absalom’s heart while he was still alive there in the oak tree.
David was sitting between the two gates. The lookout had gone up to the roof of the gate, on the ramparts; he looked up and saw a man running all by himself. The watch called out to the king and told him. The king said, ‘If he is by himself, he has good news to tell.’ The king told the man, ‘Move aside and stand there.’ He moved aside and stood waiting.
Then the Cushite arrived. ‘Good news for my lord the king!’ cried the Cushite. ‘The Lord has vindicated your cause today by ridding you of all who rebelled against you.’ ‘Is all well with young Absalom?’ the king asked the Cushite. ‘May the enemies of my lord the king’ the Cushite answered ‘and all who rebelled against you to your hurt, share the lot of that young man.’
The king shuddered. He went up to the room over the gate and burst into tears, and weeping said, ‘My son Absalom! My son! My son Absalom! Would I had died in your place! Absalom, my son, my son!’ Word was brought to Joab, ‘The king is now weeping and mourning for Absalom.’ And the day’s victory was turned to mourning for all the troops, because they learned that the king was grieving for his son. And the troops returned stealthily that day to the town, as troops creep back ashamed when routed in battle.

Then one of the synagogue officials came up, Jairus by name, and seeing him, fell at his feet and pleaded with him earnestly, saying, ‘My little daughter is desperately sick. Do come and lay your hands on her to make her better and save her life.’ Jesus went with him and a large crowd followed him; they were pressing all round him.
Now there was a woman who had suffered from a haemorrhage for twelve years; after long and painful treatment under various doctors, she spent all she had without being any the better for it, in fact, she was getting worse. She had heard about Jesus, and she came up behind him through the crowd and touched his cloak. ‘If I can touch even his clothes,’ she had told herself ‘I shall be well again.’ And the source of the bleeding dried up instantly, and she felt in herself that she was cured of her complaint. Immediately aware that power had gone out from him, Jesus turned round in the crowd and said, ‘Who touched my clothes?’ His disciples said to him, ‘You see how the crowd is pressing round you and yet you say, “Who touched me?”’ But he continued to look all round to see who had done it. While he was still speaking some people arrived from the house of the synagogue official to say, ‘Your daughter is dead: why put the Master to any further trouble?’ But Jesus had overheard this remark of theirs and he said to the official, ‘Do not be afraid; only have faith.’ And he allowed no one to go with him except Peter and James and John the brother of James. So they came to the official’s house and Jesus noticed all the commotion, with people weeping and wailing unrestrainedly. He went in and said to them, ‘Why all this commotion and crying? The child is not dead, but asleep.’ But they laughed at him. So he turned them all out and, taking with him the child’s father and mother and his own companions, he went into the place where the child lay. And taking the child by the hand he said to her, ‘Talitha, kum!’ which means, ‘Little girl, I tell you to get up.’ The little girl got up at once and began to walk about, for she was twelve years old. So the Lord relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened.

A Truly Liberated and Fruitful Life Brings Glory to God
The one, true and living God, the everlasting King, made the heavens and the earth and everything in them, by His great wisdom and power. Not the gods that are a lie and shall perish.
All God's works are done in truth; He is the truth. In Him, there is no falsehood or margins of error.
Being enticed by the devil, the first man and woman sinned and sin led to death, physically and spiritually. Grace and truth came by Jesus Christ, the second Adam from above, to reconcile us to God.
Jesus declares in John 14 verse 6: "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."
To follow Christ, is to walk in truth and be set free. For whom the Son sets free is free indeed. (See John 8:31-59)
If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples." (John 15:7 & 8)
For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regards to righteousness. What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:20-23)
For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. (The Third Epistle of John, Chapter 1:3 & 4)
A truly liberated and fruitful life, brings glory to God. Abide in Him and eat His words.
