Hey there! I just thought that, since I'm a veeeery slow (and chaotic) writer, I could let you guys see a list of all the fics, AUs and HCs I'm working on or intend to work on in the near future! ✨

Since I take my notes mostly in Spanish, I'll comment and translate a few things:

-Firstly, two of those fics were inspired by two beautiful pieces I LOVE and could stare at forever: this one and this one. Guess the fics they've inspired are both pretty obvious 🤭😝 ("chillando" means "screaming" btw 🤭)

-Secondly, you'll see two AUs that are not mine, but to which I'd like to add my personal take! I'm pretty sure you're all familiar with @multicolour-ink's Anastasia AU 😍 I did write my own version of the ballroom scene, but still gotta go and correct it very deeply (that's actually what "corregir muy a fondo" means). Also, when Multi posted their Hunger Games AU, I mentioned that a few months ago, I went and wrote what could be the beginning of the Hunger Games with Mario and Luigi in the roles of Katniss and Prim, so that's there too! ("repasar y editar" = "revise and edit").

-Thirdly, I wanna go and finally finish my Luigi's Mansion fic, since the third and last chapter is long overdue! The Dream Team one is only a mere idea right now (haven't even taken notes yet), but regarding Superstar Saga, I have written one of the two fics that I mention up there! I gotta go and edit it and then write the other (for this one I have taken notes). Oh, and that Luigi's Mansion 3 fic you see there... Yes, it happens to be the angstier thing I've ever written 🤭 Gotta work on it so I can start posting it soon!

-... Yes, I have four AUs in mind 😬 I've actually written down notes for three of them (and I have the fourth in mind), but... The first two are based on two shows that I don't know how famous are around here? 😬😅 So I'm pretty unsure about posting them 😅 The other two are based on two famous movies, so I do intend to bring them someday. I just don't when yet 😅

-I also have a few HCs that I'd like to share with you guys soon! And of course they had to be focused on Luigi, my favorite Mario character, and Luaisy, my favorite couple 🤭 I love them so much I just couldn't resist! (Also: "cuquis" means "cuties" and is pronounced exactly the same way as "cookies"! 🥰) And about that last one... I've been wanting to write Luaisy smut for a few months now, and @itsavee4117's fic (please go read it if you haven't yet!) inspired me to give it a try (and your words of encouragement too 💖), but I'm still so insecure about it! 😅 I don't know if it'll end up happening someday, but hey, at least the intention is there! ("quiero pero no estoy segura socorro" literally means "I wanna but I'm not sure help" 😂 So yeah, you can see I am truly doubting on this one 😅)

-Last but not least, please allow me to bring back something from almost two months ago: this post. Yes, it's been too long, and I feel terribly sorry for @peaches2217 and @itsavee4117 since you both sent me prompts back in January (which I'm deeply grateful for 💖) and I still. Haven't. Answered. 😬 Dishonor on me and my cow for real.

Ooh question, you mentioned rewatching as an adult, and I'm curious, what kinds of things do you view differently now? I'm rereading the manga after a long time too, and the big thing I'm noticing is that I have more compassion now, especially towards characters who I didn't realize reminded me of myself and not in the best ways 😂 And especially during part 1 I found myself wondering why we don't see their parents more often (for those who still have them) and who took care of them growing up (for the others).

I have felt similar!! Ok I’m gonna maybe list stuff out on what I’ve noticed I view differently.

Very long post under the cut of me rambling (again)!

1. My Opinion on What I Consider Good Media Has Changed

Starting with this one as I feel it’s a big overarching thing that’ll dictate all my other opinions and thoughts. I’ve watched, read, and listened to A LOT of other series and media since I first started watching Naruto (also you know life experience and such), so I have a better idea of what is “good” media and what is “bad.” When I was younger, I considered Naruto to be the best of the best, but I don’t think that now (as far as anime that title now goes to FMA:B it’s very good please watch it if you haven’t oh my god). It has a lot of flaws, some endearing and others… not so much. Granted that’s any piece of media. Nothing is perfect (not even FMA:B). But despite that, I’ve also learned that it’s ok to still enjoy it!! Imo it’s not all bad, I mean, we’re still here discussing it yea?

I guess the TLDR of this part is: it’s cringe but that’s ok cuz life is short and we should enjoy the stuff we like.

2. Female Characters/Feminism

I feel like, while these are different topics, they’re very linked together in how I watch Naruto now so I’m putting them together. When I was younger, I didn’t like really any of the female cast (except Tenten). I found them “annoying,” to put it simply. Sakura always chasing after Sasuke?? Lame. Ino being obsessed with her looks?? Shallow. Hinata losing to Neji? Weak. I began to think that I didn’t like those characters because I didn’t like female characters mostly as a whole (which is kinda hilarious cuz I did start making Chihiro back then who does in fact identify as a woman LOL!!). But this negative attitude towards female characters not only leaked into how I consumed other media, but how I saw myself and other women irl. Like I distinctly remember believing that a woman could never beat a guy in anything. Which is uh… not true!! And kinda fucked up!!!

Now that I’m older I just realize that kishimoto doesn’t know how to write women all that well. Imo, it’s not the girls’ faults, it’s their creator. Which is disappointing but also freeing almost?? Plus, I can now appreciate what good they do have to offer!! (I talked a little about the konoha 12 girls and what I like about them in this ask in case you’d like details on individual characters)

I think also being exposed to other fans with differing opinions and views has helped me with this as well. When I first started watching I didn’t really go online (wasn’t a thing in Cuba plus I wasn’t really interested), so I didn’t really have other perspectives to bounce off of.

Also wanted to add that there are definitely parts of the show I laughed off before but you know, just are not acceptable nowadays. Mainly thinking of Shikamaru talking down on girls/women, Neji made a rude comment about girls too (that Tenten corrected him on tho thank you queen), and some bits that could be perceived as a little transphobic (I’m not trans tho so I don’t wanna speak for them on that bit). Its viewpoints that I feel are a product of the time, but does not make the overall series bad per se.

3. Seeing Other Children as a Child VS as an Adult

Ngl since I grew up with Naruto, I feel as if I will always see them as my peers in a sense. If anything, almost like the “older kids” in school. Like I don’t know if this is a common perception, but I remember when I was like in 2nd grade I saw 6th graders as like tiny adults, but then when I was in 6th grade I saw 2nd graders as like babies. Does that make sense?? Anyway, it’s interesting rewatching Naruto as an adult and seeing my “peers” when they were younger. I remember thinking that 12 & 13 year olds were badass and cool and practically ready for the real world (I was like 8 or 9 when I first started watching leave me alone), and being amazed at stuff like the chunin exams. Nowadays my brain just kinda goes “why are we letting these CHILDREN go to war???” It’s a similar story with like the sensei. Thinking they’re so experienced and old and… now I’m the same age as them and I’m still young!!

4. Might Gai is Cringe and I Love Him For That

The way I didn’t appreciate this man when I was a kid is a CRIME. Teaching his students (and friends) that it’s important to find joy in life is SO IMPORTANT and Gai just does an EXCELLENT job with that!! He strives to be a source of light for the people in his life, and to show others it’s important to smile and laugh from time to time. It warms my cold dead grownup heart what can I say. There’s a line in OG Naruto after Lee beats Sasuke in their fight before the chunin exams, where Naruto turns to Sasuke and Sakura as their cringing at Lee and Gai and says, “actually, it’s kinda sweet how they’re all hugging and stuff!” And that kinda summarizes my thoughts on them.

TLDR Might Gai is cringe but he is free and I love him so much for that.

5. Seeing Myself in Characters I Didn’t Before

Off the top of my head, the three characters I see myself in more so now than when I was younger is definitely Choji, Lee, and Tenten.

I was never popular growing up, especially when I moved back to the US after living in Cuba. Kids just didn’t wanna play with me or have me on their sports teams, so I was purposefully left out oftentimes, kinda like how choji was when he was younger. Rewatching that part made me cry honestly HAHA I saw myself so clearly. I’m also plus size so the beauty standards he has to deal with really speak to me. I remember Shikamaru telling him one time that girls don’t have to be skinny to be pretty and I would be lying if that didn’t give me a huge amount of confidence in myself.

Rock Lee’s story has always been top notch, but as someone who chose to specialize in a path that I didn’t really have natural talent for myself it REALLY speaks to me now. I’ll be 100% honest, I was never really one of those “been drawing since I could hold a pencil” kind of kids. I liked it, but I didn’t really consider myself any good until like 8th grade or so. Anyway, there’s this scene where Lee is crying at the training grounds cuz he’s scared that, no matter how hard he works, it’ll all be for nothing and that he’ll always be a loser, and uh… had to turn the show off cuz that struck WAAAAAAAY too close to home for me as an artist with a… let’s be real, a failing art business. Anyway, he inspires me though to keep going cuz this is what brings me joy. I may take longer than most, but that doesn’t mean I’m less of a person for it.

Tenten I’ve honestly seen a lot of myself in even when I was younger! But there’s this filler episode that goes into detail on how she tried really hard to be just like Tsunade, since that was her dream since she was little. Turns out she doesn’t have the capacity to do that (not being able to do medical ninjutsu well, etc), but she finds her own strengths along the way. What really spoke to me was letting go of your childhood dreams. It’s hard. It feels like you’re failing in a way. But Tenten was able to persevere and find a new and even better path forward for herself. And that’s just amazing. I love seeing that, and it helps me feel as if I too and maybe find my path.

6. Final Thoughts and Random Little Things

I think it’s also safe to say that I can pick up on story flaws (I’m looking at you 4th great ninja war arc) and inconsistencies (how the heck does the hyuga clan work wtf). It’s a long series and nowadays you can binge the whole thing in one sitting (I don’t recommend that please take care of yourself). Back in my day I had to wait a whole week to watch the next 26 minute episode with commercials in between. Also I was a kid. AHAHA!! But again, long series, so I’m sure Kishi forgot about certain details while he was being pushed to continue the series.

Also my views on certain things that happened in the series changed based on what I know what happens later, which I find to be quite fun!

Overall I still enjoy the series, both for similar reasons as I did back in the day (Neji) and for new reasons!! Flaws and all. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk

I've only now seen the rude asks you got recently (i've been living under a rock due to exams, sigh) and the Gojo hate anon had me flabbergasted . . as a Gojo girlie/fucker/everything myself (and a Gojo bullying lover. he 100% deserves it 🤩) the honesty left me speechless 😭.  Not to mention the person who rated your fic when bookmarking it on AO3 .. ?!?! that was so incredibly disrespectful. Maybe I'm naive but I could have never imagined it was a thing before coming back to fandom spaces - you aren't the first author I see pointing out this behavior from readers on the site .. I think it's just insane how people can be so gratuitously rude (and allow me to add tasteless. the 3/10 was definitely personal).

I've also seen your more recent posts about not wanting to write the next Gojo scenes in ddao (tbh i get that. he is the character I struggle to write the most & in general .. he is the hind of person he is yk what I'm saying 😂) but I'm glad you're finding some motivation to work through it! please stay strong 😂!! What do you think is the hardest thing abt them for you? As a writer, or personally, either point of view is fine! is it anything in particular like the dialogue .. any part of the writing process, or is it him in general (that would be an incredibly valid answer too 😂)? I personally find him pretty hard to write - it's likely a personal limit, but especially when some kind of romance or pining is involved. I mean the dynamics are probably already going to be some flavor of messed up and chaotic when he's in the picture (especially with Geto) .. hence why I think if I was in rip!mc's shoes i think I wouldn't have survived the mess 💀. He definitely wouldn't be helpful at all in such situation .. Geto is just so much better at presenting and promoting himself to others than Gojo is, despite being equally messy and messed up behind the facade. Which is a fairly obvious statement. But what makes him hard to deal with is the fact I think Gojo would likely open his mouth and say something outta pocket/offensive and/or misleading about his feelings and then act frustrated about how you can't see he's insanely pathetic about you. He might even think he's being obvious but he's actually being insufferable and in a way that would make anyone's brain hurt lmao. As of now, I think he somewhat tends to erroneously apply the same logic he applied to his relationship with Geto - except it's obvious their case was an exception to the rule (hence why he just creates more chaos and misunderstanding) .. he regarded him as a peer more than he did with anyone else,, and I also think Geto was more used to his bullshit than anyone else could be (re: your manipulation tactics post .. their love language is psychological warfare. so true). But this is my take and it's likely not 100% correct so I'd love to hear your thoughts if you wish to share any! I've actually been loving your characterization of him. It's been refreshing in the sense that I think especially a Geto stays!AU Gojo but also in general a younger version Gojo would've been a pain to be around and I think you really delivered that feeling well!

Also - I love every time you get a message with people telling you abt how you turned them into Geto fuckers. As a Geto hater (i want .. to kiss .. him ......) I can safely say I did that to myself too - it's inevitable. I started writing for him because I wanted to get rid of the thoughts but it backfired. I slowly turned myself into a fucker. truly dug my own grave. that's what he does to people 💀💀 !! I remember you saying how you wouldn't stand him irl (am i right .. ? with gojo it's not rlly him that's difficult i think im just finding it increasingly difficult to write for a character that im not as personally invested in. at this point writing gojo is more of a habit than anything. i've been writing him for ages so i know the way i want to write his character and everything about how i characterize him so it's mostly free sailing now!!!!! im actually really excited for the expanded HI arc in the anime so i can recontextualize my fics through the added info and sashisu interactions in the anime!!!!!!

oh yeah i think gojo is definitely a bit blind to the nuances of other people and/or considerate in a way that comes off as inconsiderate (his treatment of ijichi). also he and geto just.....fell in love. and i like to think falling in love with each other was even easier than becoming friends. one day it just clicked. they understood that they loved each other the entire time so there was no need for an extended courtship. i think in regards to stsg's relationship there really was no big change. a lot of things actually stayed the same lmfao.

ripmc is difficult because she actually needs like....articulation of their feelings and something more than just patience. softness maybe. also where geto just intrinsically understands, the last thing gojo actually wants is to detail every single thing he loves about not just rip!mc but geto too. geto probably teases it out of him anyway LMAO gojo is still kinda mortified at his early behavior and treatment towards rip!mc although he has apologized for his antagonism. i just KNOW it keeps him up at night 😭😭😭😭😭😭 he's still growing out of his immaturity. geto never left. the blue spring goes on for longer. he gets to be a teenager for a little longer. you know!!!!!

14. what’s your worst writing habit? 

Oh geez. Okay, I taught creative writing to 8th graders last year, and we watched a video on "10 worst writing habits" and then they were supposed to use them in their stories so we already had "their worst story" done and out of the way. And I guess I was shocked that I do some of them, but the the worst is I guess you're not supposed to use alternate words for "said" and "asked" like most of the time...and that's literally me. 🤣 It's one of those advice things that I'm probably not going to change anytime soon because I don't feel like it distracts from my story (and if it does please tell me!!).

23. how do you deal with writers block?

Great question! A number of different ways, and I think we talk about them regularly: take a break, move onto a different story/section in the story...but honestly, for me personally. I HAVE TO FORCE MYSELF TO WRITE!

Sprints are great for this, but I usually set aside 30-40 minutes and say "don't do anything else. Silence your phone. And write." And usually it starts off as utter garbage, but I find a groove at some point and then when the juices are pumping again, go back to that first section and take another crack at it.

34. how do you name characters and places?

Lol okay so I'm going to break this up into fanfiction and original because I have two different approaches.

Fanfiction: For names, I use this generator. You can change it to hobbit or elf names at the bottom, but yeah. Not wasting my time worrying about OC names.

Original: Okay! When I'm naming original characters for original fiction, I'm super picky! So I actually find a meaning I want that person's name to embody: "warrior" "serenity" etc. And then I run a google search for names that mean that. Sometimes, I'll get one close and may change it up just a bit to fit the style of the story (fantasy, sci-fi, etc.)

For places: This is my trick. 😏 So let's say the place I'm making up culturally or geographically reminds me of...let's say Oklahoma. So I write it backwards: AMOHALKO. And now I'm going to add or drop letters until it sounds like aesthetically pleasing to me:

Amohka, Mahala, Ohallo, etc.

Sometimes, I'll do the same thing but with language translations. So like the place I'm writing about is a BIG ROCK. Google translate says that is "felsen" in German (I'm so sorry if that's not correct.)

Backwards: NESLEF

May adjust to: Neleft...or something to that effect. 😂

There are quite a few new anons in my inbox now calling me uneducated despite me being an actual clinician. On top of that, I barely said a word, all of the facta are literally just links from scientific studies and respected organizations. 😂

To answer your question, there really is no good reason to hate trans people. They are just trying to exist and be happy like everyone else.

I'm sure there are other people in our community who would be able to explain better why these people are the way they are. If anyone can add to this or correct me on anything, please feel free!

The main excuses I've heard fascists give are:

1. Trans people are pedophiles who are grooming children (this one has zero basis in fact and while I can't speak for everyone, I know of a lot pedophilic clergy and nazis, and zero pedophilic trans people).

2. Trans people are mentally ill, perverted rapists who are only trans in order to take advantage of women (This is the position that a lot of female transphobes take, which really only applies to trans women. They're so scared of men that they become scared of trans women. While I understand the trauma they have experienced, trying to genocide an entire group of people just because they remind you of men is as acceptable as murdering a guy just because he reminded you of your ex.

The only true part here is that the majority of trans people are mentally ill - not because they're trans, but because they're almost always abused and are under constant threat of murder just for being trans).

3. They say that it's "basic biology" and that "there are only males and females."This one is just based on a lack of education.

They are correct in that their view is basic biology - it's what we learn in grade school. We're taught a dumbed-down version of science as kids, but once we hit college, we find there is a lot more complexity to it than we thought. In this case, we would learn that gender and sex are two different things, with both being on a spectrum. I'm not the best at explaining it, so here's some better info!

Hateful people become scared of what they don't know. It's the same concept as racism and sexism. It's a "foreign" group of people whom you find scary because you don't understand them. So, their natural response is violence. It's horrifying and scary, and unfortunately these people are in charge of our lives. Please keep being open-minded, and keep asking questions. Education is the most important weapon in the fight against fascists.

Sea Wall q&a 21/06/2018

I was lucky to attend the Sea Wall q&a last Thursday, and I thought I’d share some bits and pieces. Please keep in mind that this is from memory and I’m paraphrasing, so there may be some inaccuracies. If you were there too, feel free to add if you remember anything else or correct me if I got something wrong :)

George Perrin, the director of Sea Wall, was the other guest. The event was moderated by Matthew Warchus.

One of the best audience questions was “What does the director do?”. It got a big laugh from the audience and from Andrew, too. George said that in Sea Wall he just tried not to be in the way and “not fuck this up”. Andrew said that wasn’t really true and mentioned some things the director had done: he made sure the lighting was right and that the empty space on the stage didn’t look to romantic or something, it was all supposed to be as natural as possible. He also said that when he first did it, he found it really hard to look at people, so the director invited “4 friends” over when they practised. And they all agreed that generally, the director’s most important job is just to watch the rehearsals and spot if anything is not going to work for the audience and then nudge the actor into the right direction.

Andrew said he was a bit worried if the play would work in a bigger theatre like this, but that now he thinks it works even better than the small places because “the space gives it depth”, which mirrors the depth of the Sea / Sea Wall when Alex talks about it

He thinks that the play is particularly relevant in 2018 because we live in a time when people are strongly divided about everything, and we are quick to hate other people because they have different opinions (or something like that?), and Sea Wall is about 2 people (Alex and Arthur) who are almost polar opposites and disagree about everything (the existence of god etc.), but they still love each other and just accept their differences

The hardest part of the play for Andrew is the beginning when the audience walks in, he’s scared of that every time. But he said it’s also cool because you connect with the audience in a different way, for example he saw someone with a shopping bag today and thought “oh you went shopping” (lol)

He was asked how he learns lines: He has to say them out loud, and he usually has someone read the other character(s). And he said when he learned Hamlet at one point he got so frustrated that he threw the book across the room (lol totally relatable 😂)

He talked about how draining Hamlet was and that some mornings he woke up and thought “I can’t believe I have to do 3,5 hours again - I want to go to the beer garden!”. But he also loved doing it, and in those moment he just reminded himself of that

About the sad part of Sea Wall: He thinks what touches the audience most is not to see someone break down on stage and cry a lot, it’s watching someone try not to cry, because that feels real. “When people go through something like this, they don’t want to feel it”

Since the play was first performed, 2 lines have been dropped, but otherwise the text is unchanged. One line was “even in this light” after Alex says “You can see the hole in the center of my stomach”, which was written specifically for the first venue but made no sense later (or something?). The other was some reply/comment by Alex after Arthur talks about god being in the space between 2 numbers etc., and it was dropped because Andrew didn’t like it. He felt like Arthur deserved one moment of dignity, so they just let his ideas on god hang in the air.

They said that the cruel thing about the play is that there is nothing that allows the audience to distance themselves from it and to think “it’s just a play, it’s just acting, it’s fine”

He was asked what he does before the play starts, if he needs time to get into character or if the time while the audience comes in is enough for that. He said “There’s no such thing as characters”, but then corrected himself to say “that’s not quite true”. But he said that for him, acting is not imagining to be someone else, it’s imagining how he would be if he went through that experience. So he doesn’t really need time to “get into character” because he doesn’t do that. He also doesn’t need to get himself into a sad mood for Sea Wall because “the darkness plays itself, you have to play the light”, so before the audience comes in he chats with the ushers to get into a light, chatty mood. 

He said he has a very clear idea of what Alex said to Arthur (the cruellest thing he ever did), but he would never reveal it and people have the most amazing ideas about what he said
